Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the LubriMatic mini grease gun kit. This is going to give us a smaller grease gun with that pistol style grip and then two tubes of marine grade grease to go with that. Now this being a smaller grease gun, it's going to make it easier to get into hard to reach spots, and will work out for just about any kind of do it yourself, automotive, industrial, farm or RV or marine application. So this helps us to lube up our bearings, keep everything rolling properly. That marine grade grease is going to help prevent any kind of corrosion since it can stand being in the water, so it'll work out for your boat trailers as well as just about anything else.

It's going to be in a more wet environment. So if you're near the coast, maybe in an area that has a lot of moisture, a lot of humidity in the air, that marine grade grease is going to be a good way to go. Now as far as how to load the grease gun, if you unthread it from the cap, take this cylinder and then pull the plunger back, there's a little catch. You'll just move it to the side to lock it into that little groove at the back there. There's a little spot where it locks in place, and then you'll take one of your tubes of grease, take that cap off and then put it into the cylinder. Now one thing that a couple of customers have noted is that it's a little tricky to get these tubes back out once they're already used up.

So one thing that you could do before you put this in there is actually maybe take this label off just to make it a little bit slimmer, so it fits inside that cartridge a little bit better. And hopefully it won't be as difficult to get that back out once it's done. Now I'm not going to put this all the way in there just because I don't want to get the grease deployed. But once that's in there, you can then thread it back into the cap all the way down, and then you can release your plunger. You don't want to do that before you get that threaded back on because all the grease will shoot out of it, so make sure you do that beforehand. At the end, our little nozzle will be able to open that up by threading that out so that loosens up the little fitting inside there, makes it easier to get onto our grease circ and then we closed that down by threading it back towards the gun.You can also remove this whole nozzle to make it a little bit more compact.

Of course, whenever you do that, there's nothing really keeping that grease from leaking out there. The plunger does push it through, but I would say that that's probably going to end up being greasy once you have grease pushed through. So just keep in mind, grease guns are going to be greasy. As far as the size for our grease gun, from the very back of that pistol grip handle to the front of that nozzle, it's about 11 inches roughly. From top to bottom, it's about 10 inches roughly. And then the thickest portion is going to be that top cap, which is about one and a half inches thick.

If we remove that nozzle portion, take off several inches there, and now it's just about six and a half inches long, so pretty easy to fit into a tight spot to get that in your toolbox, or maybe somewhere in your truck or in a compartment on your RV, whatever space you have for it it can build up to 3,600 PSI or 3,600 pounds per square inch of pressure to help get that grease back into those bearings and keep everything lubed up.Well, that's going to do it for our look at the LubriMatic mini grease gun kit with marine corrosion control and trailer bearing grease.

Excellent plan on using it for my boat...only problem is like all grease guns, hard to get on the zerk and to remove 548563

I bought this in conjunction with Bearing Buddies for my utility trailer (btw, the Bearing Buddies are great!). However this grease gun is of poor quality. The grease cartridge was a tight fit when first installing, and was impossible to replace the empty grease cartridge. I accidentally wound up damaging the grease gun cylinder trying to remove the cartridge. I eventually threw the grease gun away. Do not waste your money on this grease gun - it's not worth it (finest made in China). :( 186388

First canister went great I had a little bit of trouble pulling the empty canister out of the gun no big deal . When I put the second canister in , the bottom lever went loose and forced all of the grease out of the gun and onto the floor since I didn’t have the head attached yet . I was able to salvage about half of the grease that fell so I’m not too upset , they should come with some kind of lock or instructions. 469877

Simply fantastic service. Adjusted my order on the fly and made sure it got to me on time, for a hassle free long-distance trip. Thank you Carol! As for the product -- I went with 1980 SS in the end. Easy to install, load with grease. My trailer's wheels were blissfully silent across an 800 mile round trip. (Now to return the ones I didn't need...) 692549

  • Safe Grease Gun Pressure for Filling Hubs with Grease on EZ Lube Spindles
Care should be taken when loading grease into a hub that is installed on an EZ-Lube spindle. It is very easy to over-fill the hub and apply too much pressure and blow out the grease seals. Even the double-lip seals like # 34823 used with EZ-Lube hubs can be blown out from excess grease pressure. The standard grease guns we offer top out at a maximum pressure of 7000-psi, but many are rated for lower pressure, such as # ALL940798 (4500-psi) and # L30132-11399 (3600-psi). That said, we...

  • New Brake Assemblies, Hub/Drums, Brake Lines, and Bearing Buddy for Trailer with 3,500 lb Axle
For as trashed as those brake assemblies are I am impressed with how spotless that spindle is! Based on the bearing numbers you mentioned you have a #84 spindle and the hub part # AKHD-545-35-G-K is correct. Since this its galvanized it's a really great option as it will fight corrosion. The flexible brake line kits like the part # 18SI-BLKIT is what I would go with. They are just as durable as anything else and a lot easier to install. The brake assemblies # AKFBBRK-35R-D and # AKFBBRK-35L-D...

  • Replacing Bearings and Seals on Boat Trailer with Grease Zerk Spindles
The EZ Lube spindle style with the grease zerk is designed for maintaining your bearings and not for the initial grease of your bearings. The best way to pack your bearings with grease is to us the Powerbuilt Deluxe Bearing Packer # ALL647646. You want to stick with the same grease as you used or you want to clean your spindles and hubs if you are changing grease as some do not mix well. I recommend the LubriMatic Mini Grease Gun Kit with Marine Corrosion Control and Trailer Bearing...

  • Do EZ Lube Spindles Keep Water Out When Submerged
The EZ-Lube portion of the Dexter Trailer Idler Axle Beam with EZ-Lube Spindles # T20BTR-EZ-7258 will keep water out so long as they are greased properly and you use the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb E-Z Lube Axles # 8-258-5UC1-EZ which does have an EZ-Lube grease cap. This will create a seal that does not allow water in when you submerge your axles. To add grease I highly recommend the LubriMatic Mini Grease Gun Kit with Marine Corrosion Control and Trailer Bearing...

  • How Much Travel Distance Is Recommended for Fender Clearance with Timbren Axle-less Suspension?
You can absolutely use Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System on a custom trailer application, however the instructions state that the axle-less systems are not recommended for triple applications. With whatever system you end up using, you will want to leave a minimum of 4-7/8 inches of clearance above the tires for the suspension travel. If you end up using these axles, I recommend the Trailer Hub/Drum Assembly - 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 12" - 8 on 6-1/2 - Galvanized,...

  • Recommended Compatible Hubs for Use with Timbren Off-Road Suspension System ASR35HDS02
In order to use 6-on-5-1/2-inch bolt pattern hubs on a Timbren axle-less suspension system those hubs will have to use the same bearing set as the hubs intended for that system. In the Timbren system # ASR35HDS02, for example, which has 4-inches of lift and is rated for 3500-lbs and off-road tires, the bearing set is inner bearing # 25580 and outer bearing # 15123. We do offer idler hubs and hub/drums in the 6-on-5-1/2-inch bolt pattern that you can see by clicking on the link provided....

  • Hub Assembly For 2000 Lb E-Z-Lube Axles
You chose the correct hub for the dimensions you said you need. This hub has a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern and is designed to be used on 2,000 lb axles. The will work for 12 to 15 inch wheels and includes the bearings, races, seal, grease cap, bolts and lug nuts. It also features the E-Z Lube grease cap which means you only have to remove the plug on the grease cap to access the zerk fitting on the spindle, making it easy to add grease to the inner and outer bearings. If you do not have...

  • Wet Shackle Bolts to Reduce Noise from Tandem Axle Travel Trailer Suspension
If you think the cause for the noise on your 2015 Jayco Whitehawk 24RBS tandem-axle travel trailer is from the normal travel of the suspension components (leaf springs, equalizers and shackle straps), you might switch over to wet bolts. The squeaking noises from trailer suspension can be reduced by replacing standard shackle bolts with wet bolts. Wet bolts like # TRFA71063 and # 126B2 have a grease zerk fitting that allows you to maintain a layer of grease between the surfaces of those...

  • Recommended Hub Assemblies and Bearing Buddies for SeaDoo Trailer
Thanks for the information you gave. I recommend the Trailer Hub Assembly for 8" to 12" Wheels - 5 on 4-1/2 with GAL-DEX Coating # 8-259-50UC1. These Dexter assemblies have a galvanized coating to assist since your trailer is going to be used in water. You may also want to consider the Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors - Model 1980A-SS w/ Auto Check - Stainless Steel (Pair) # BB1980A-SS which will protect your bearings while submerged in water or salt water. These have a built in grease...

  • Recommended Galvanized Hubs Assemblies With 4 Bolts For Boat Trailer
Since you have the spindles with the zerk on the end, I recommend the EZ lube that you mentioned because it is designed to give you easy access to that zerk by removing the plug and not the entire cap. For this assembly, you will want the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 4 on 4 - Galvanized # AKIHUB-440-2-G-EZ-2K. If you really don't want the EZ lube access, you can use the AKIHUB-440-2-G-2K with the solid caps. We don't have any assemblies already grease packed...

  • Is there a Specific Temperature Rating Needed for Wheel Bearing Grease on a Trailer
As long as the wheel bearing grease you use is appropriate for the application, in this case marine grease is ideal # L30132-11399, then the temperature rating will be rated appropriately as well. There isn't one specific temperature rating or range to adhere to as long as the grease can be used with wheel bearings and is compatible with any old grease in the hubs. I have included a link to our help article on grease that also has a compatibility table.

  • How Often Should Zerk Fittings On Lippert Trailair Pin Box Be Greased
The Lippert Trailair Tri-Glide Pin Box is the only Lippert Trailair Pin Box I am aware of with grease fittings. That said, it is recommend to grease these fittings (see photo) every 1,500 - 2,000 miles. In regards to the exact amount, this is not provided as it will vary by case and how much is needed but a safe bet would be a few pumps for each fittings. The LubriMatic Mini Grease Gun Kit with Marine Corrosion Control part # L30132-11399 would be great for keeping up with the above...

  • Bearing Buddy Grease Cap for Hubs on Box Trailer
When you re-pack a hub with fresh wheel bearing grease you do not need to also pack grease into the interior of the standard grease cap like # RG04-020. If you packed the bearings by hand or used a packing tool like # ALL647646 the bearings themselves will have a good amount of bearing grease and there would be no way for any grease put into the grease caps to get into the bearings. This is why there are Bearing Buddy grease caps like # BB1980A-SS that have a zerk grease fitting with...

  • What is Preferred Way to Pack Trailer Bearings and Which Grease
It sounds like your current hubs are in good shape in terms of grease. The temperature you are seeing is totally normal and a lot of people would say "if it isn't broke don't fix it." Now I fully understand the desire to grease the hubs since you do have a decent amount of mileage on them. I would strongly recommend greasing them by hand. Pumping grease in through a zerk fitting to push out the old grease and replace with new not only does not remove all of the old grease but it adds...
