Video Transcript for Fastenal Nylon Tube Brush Review

Today we'll be taking a look at the Fastenal 3/8ths of an inch nylon tube brush, part number 814113. The best feature of this nylon tube brush is it's ability to clean out whatever type of hole you may need to use it in. This is great for cleaning out weld nuts and frames in order to install a hitch. Also, if you need to, you can clean out other things like small TVC pipe, or other types of tubing. Another great feature of this tube brush is over here at the handle it has this nice loop. What that's useful for is if you have a tool cart or something like that, you can just have a little screw or hang it right there, and hang it there so you can have easy access to it whenever you need it. If you'd like, you can hang it on the wall right next to your toolbox. This tube brush is six and one-quarter inches long.

The brush portion of it is two inches long. The overall diameter of the brush portion is 3/8ths of an inch. The diameter of the handle is 3/33ths of an inch. That's going to complete our look at the Fastenal 3/8ths inch nylon tube brush, part number 814113.

Works fine. If your vehicle is more than a few years old, go ahead and (carefully!) tap the bolt holes again. Then use the brush to clean out any metal shavings before you put the bolts in.

The nylon brush for cleaning threads is great and useful for other projects. The Curt trailer hitch 13195, and electrical connections are all great. Brenden C helped me with my special order and that too is greatly appreciated.

What can I say? The brush did what it was supposed to. Maybe a tiny bit too small for the threaded holes I was cleaning, but still got the job done. Just took a little extra scrubbing.

- 814113

Just received my trailer hitch, trailer wire and brush all came when expected and was much faster order process and delivery then I originally expected to take, I would definitely recommend etrailer to anyone

Highly recommend for cleaning threads before installing a hitch.

Replacement item kept in my tool box.

Fine, no issues.

Super easy to install. Had this installed in 10 minutes or less. I would suggest to get a good wire brush to clean out the threads on the vehicle. A little rust can make your job much harder. Pre prep goes a long way!

- 814113

Worked okay for what little I needed it for but there were not really a need for it

- 814113

This was very use full in removing any dirt prior to feeding the cable through.

  • Can Stealth Hitches Trailer Hitch for 2020 Kia Telluride Easily be Installed at Home
That is an excellent question! Most of the Stealth Hitches are pretty intensive because you typically need to remove the rear bumper. For the Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver # 391KIATELL20 for your 2020 Kia Telluride though it's actually much more simple. You do have to lower the spare tire and remove the gravel guard underneath but this installation doesn't require that the rear bumper be removed so I'm confident that you can perform this installation right at home even if you...

  • Installing Trailer Hitch Receiver with Corroded Weldnuts On 2014 Honda CRV EX-L
The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e98868 is a great hitch that is easy to install when the weldnuts are not corroded. You have done the right steps in using a lubricant and a nylon brush # 814113, but since that isn't working on 2 of the weldnuts, I recommend using a small wire brush as outlined in the instructions being careful not to damage the threads. If that doesn't solve the problem the next option is to use the 10 mm x 1.25...

  • Trailer Hitch Bolts Will Not Thread Into Factory Weld Nuts
The problem you are having is common. What happens is over the years the factory weld nuts in the vehicle frame can get packed with crud and corrosion making it difficult to thread in hitch hardware. Some people thing that the bolts are too large when the issue can actually be resolved by giving the weld nuts a good cleaning. Use a spray lubricant such as PB Blaster and soak the weld nut threads for about 15 minutes. Then scrub them out using a wire brush such as # 814113 or a battery...

  • Trouble Tightening Hitch Pin on the Thule Apex Swing
The temperature change will have to be near 100 degrees fahrenheit in order for the metal to expand so I really doubt that is the issue. The likely culprit is some loose dirt/rust or damaged threads on either the hitch pin or weld nut inside the shank of the Thule Swing 4 Bike Rack part # TH9027XT. I would first take some spray lubricant like WD-40 and then use a tube brush like part # 814113 to clean out the threads inside the shank and on the hitch pin. If this does not work then you...

  • Troubleshooting Bolts Not Fitting When Installing Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch on a 2008 Nissan Rogue
If you are having trouble getting the hardware to install for your Draw-Tite trailer hitch then what you need to do is soak the bolt holes with WD40, wait for a few minutes to let it set in, and then use a wire brush like part # 814113 to clean out any dirt or debris. This isn't very uncommon especially on vehicles that are a little older. Another thing to check is to make sure that you have the correct trailer hitch for your vehicle. If you are trying to install a hitch on the 2008...

  • M10 Bolts Will Not Thread Into the Frame to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2015 Kia Sorento
The weld nuts in the frame on your 2015 Kia Sorento are likely packed with grime and corrosion. Cleaning them out will allow the bolts to thread in. Basically you will spray the holes with PB Blaster or WD40 and let them soak for about 15 minutes. Then start cleaning them out with a wire brush, like a battery terminal cleaner or a tube brush such as # 814113. You may need to repeat the process more than once. I have included some helpful links below on cleaning weld nuts for you.

  • Cleaning out Weld Nuts on 2014 Chrysler Town and Country for Installing Trailer Hitch
The issue you are experiencing with threading the bolts into the existing holes on your Chrysler's frame is actually not too uncommon. What we recommend doing to clean the weld nuts is to simply use some spray lubricant and a good wire brush like # 814113. You will just want to spray the lubricant (something like WD-40 or Blaster Lubricant) inside the weld nut and then let it sit for a few minutes. Then you can scrub the bolt hole with the wire brush, loosening up any corrosion or grime...

  • What Size are the Bolts that Thread Into Weldnuts to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2003 Saturn Vue
There are a total of 6 bolts that thread into the factory weldnuts on a 2003 Saturn Vue to install trailer hitch # 76028 as well as 4 carriage bolts and matching nuts that fit other places on the hitch. The bolts that fit the weldnuts are M12x1.75x45 CL10.9. But if you need new hardware then you will need # RHK. Enter the hitch number and manufacturer where indicated on that page to get the correctly sized and rated hardware for that hitch and vehicle. If you are having trouble installing...

  • Trailer Hitch Installation on 2010 Chevrolet Traverse With Rusted Weld Nuts
Installation of a hitch like Draw-Tite # 75528 in your 2010 Chevrolet Traverse whose frame weld nuts are rusted out will require some special attention. My contact at Draw-Tite recommends that you try cleaning out the weld nuts. Often weld nuts can be brought back to a serviceable condition. First, you'll want to spray a penetrating lubricant (PB Blaster, or WD40) into the nuts and allow it to work overnight. You can repeat this step for a few days if time permits. Then use a tube brush...

  • Troubleshooting Installation Of Trailer Hitch Receiver Into Weldnuts On 2013 Kia Forte Hatchback
To install your Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11124 which is a confirmed fit for your 2013 Kia Forte Hatchback, the bolts sometimes are hindered by debris in the frame welded nuts. The weldnuts most likely need cleaning, so I recommend using some spray lubricant like UltraLube Biobased Spray Lubricant and Penetrant - 12-oz Aerosol with Straw to loosen up any debris and then use a nylon brush like # 814113 to remove debris without damaging the threads. ...

  • Trailer Lights Work Off and On when Connected to a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer
What you are describing is a ground issue most likely caused by a dirty or corroded trailer connector on the vehicle. Use a wire brush such as # 814113 to clean off corrosion on the pins. If you can take your vehicle side connector apart then check where the wires attach and clean/repair as needed. You can also inspect the vehicle side wiring from the trailer connector forward on the vehicle and repair any damaged wires.

Even a little green or white film on the contacts can indicate a corrosion problem. Apply a spray on contact cleaner like Caig De-Oxit and use a small brush like # 814113 to remove any corrosion. Check both sides of each connector if possible. If...
