BAKFlip G2 Operation Animation

The BAKFlip G2 tonneau proves that a truck bed cover can be both stylish and functional. This all-aluminum, quad-fold cover keeps your truck bed and its contents dry, cuts down on wind drag to improve your fuel mileage, and allows for full truck bed access without having to be removed. And because this tonneau mounts inside of your truck bed side rails, you get a low-profile look and you can still use your stake pockets to mount accessories.

Convenient Folding Design

BAKFlip FiberMax Tonneau Cover Operation

One of the BAKFlip G2's most attractive features is that it can be folded all the way up and remain securely positioned on your truck while you are driving, even at highway speeds. This means that you can haul large cargo without having to completely remove the tonneau. Simply unlatch each of the panels, fold them one on top of the other, and flip them back so that they sit upright against the cab of your truck.

BAKFlip FiberMax Tonneau Cover Prop Rod

Then flip up the prop rods that are attached to the tonneau's frame rails, slide the brackets on the cover down over the rods, and tighten the knobs on the brackets to secure the upright cover in place. Rubber bumpers on the cover prevent it from marking your cab or scratching the glass of your rear windshield. When the tonneau is in this position, your vehicle's third brake light will remain visible.

If you want to maintain visibility out of your rear window, you can secure the folded panels of the cover without propping them up against the cab using the tie-down straps and buckles included with the cover. Just fold up the first 3 panels of the cover, leaving the panel closest to the cab latched in place. Make sure both buckle clips are inserted into the buckle ends on the front header panel of the cover and adjust the straps to ensure the cover is secure.

Simple, One-Person Operation

BAKFlip G2 Panel Latches

The BAKFlip G2 is easy to operate. To unlatch the rear panel, drop your tailgate and pull either of the 2 release cords located along the bottom corners of the panel's housing. Either cord will release both of the integrated latches so that you can lift up the panel. To unlatch the second, third, and fourth panels, pull the easy-to-reach release cords built into the corners of those panels.

To close the cover, simply fold the panels back down. Each panel will securely latch back into place under its own weight. When your tailgate is closed and locked, no one will be able to get in to open the cover, thus safeguarding your truck bed and its contents. The sturdy aluminum construction will also prevent anyone from peeling the cover up at the sides or cutting through its center, ensuring additional security.

Heavy-Duty Construction

The BAKFlip G2's rugged construction makes it a great match for your truck, no matter what you do while at work or play. It's strong enough to hold up to 300 lbs of evenly distributed weight when it's folded down, so it can support your weight if you sit or stand on it.

Each 1/2" thick, rustproof aluminum panel has an insulated core that is made with top-quality, closed-cell foam to create a strong, heavy-duty cover. The black paint finish is UV resistant and offers corrosion protection.

The frame rails are constructed of aircraft-grade, rustproof aluminum and have a sleek black, corrosion-resistant powder coat finish. Glass-filled, aluminum-housed nylon latches and round hinges ensure smooth operation for the life of the cover. And matte black rubber seals run all the way around the cover to help to keep water out of your bed. If any water does seep through, it will run along the gutter system that is built into the frame rails and will then exit through drain hoses that install behind your cab.

Easy, No-Drill Installation

BAKFlip G2 Installation

Installing the G2 is simple. All you need is a wrench, and you don't have to do any drilling. The tonneau's frame rails clamp to the inside of your truck bed side rails to create a base for the cover. The included bolts secure the front hinge rail to the frame rails at the cab. Slotted brackets on the hinge rail allow the bolts to shift in case you need to adjust the cover to achieve a snug fit.

Video Transcript for BAKFlip G2 Hard Tonneau Cover Installation - 2014 Toyota Tundra

Today on our 2014 Toyota Tundra, we'll be taking a look at and installing the Bakflip G2 Hard Tonneau Cover, part number BAK26410T. The Bakflip G2 is the right solution for covering your cargo in the back of your pickup. This aero-dynamic, low profile cover is an easy, no drill installation. It simply uses clamps and secures up underneath our raised truck bed side rails. The four panels have an insulated core to add strength, and have a black paint UV-resistant finish, so it's going to stand up to the elements. It features matte black rubber seals around the surrounding edge to help keep out water.

It can be folded and stowed three ways, and even propped up against your cab while you're on the road. It uses prop rods to keep it in place up against the cab, which can be stored away in these clips here when not in use. It uses an integrated draining system to help direct the water away from inside the bed. Now that we've got all the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. Now our Tundra here comes with a pre-existing rail system as you see here. First thing we do is get that taken off.

Now we're just going to be removing the two side rails on the walls of the truck. We're not going to touch the one in the bulk head. We've got six bolts in each one, let's go ahead and get started. Now with all the bolts removed, it appears that our rail is still being held in place by a push-pin fastener, so we're just going to pull it off nice and easy. We're going to set that aside, along with our hardware, because we're going to reuse it. Now keep in mind everything we do here, we're just going to repeat the same process on the other wall.

With both rails removed, the next step is to get our brackets installed on the rails, so it's going to be easiest to just go ahead and remove these anchor points here. We'll make sure that they're unscrewed, we'll push in, and slide them off the rail. Once we get to the end we can just take off the end cap. We can also take off the push-pin fasteners, because we won't be needing them. Slide them to the side and take them off. Let's go ahead and put on our six brackets.

We'll start with one bracket. We're going to grab our bolt, put on our washer- Then we can grab our bracket, put our bolt with our washer through, and we'll grab our rail. We're going to go through our first hole just like that. We're going to turn it over and put on our lock nut. All right, now let's go ahead and loosely install the other five. Now with all the brackets loosely installed, let's go ahead and tighten them down. We're going to need a 7/16ths wrench, and a 7/16ths socket. We'll use the wrench on the underside to hold that in place, and we'll take our socket on top. Now when tightening these down, it's important to make sure that your bracket stays up vertical as you see here. Seems pretty good, now we'll just work our way up. Now with all of our brackets tightened down, let's go ahead and take off our end cap and put our tie-downs back on. The reason why we're going to do this now is because it might be kind of difficult to put them on once we have our rail back where it needs to be. We're going to put this one on, we're going to send it all the way down, and then we'll put on our other one. Put our end cap back on. We'll lift up the rail, with the brackets, and we'll line up our old holes. We're going to start right here in the center. We'll take our old hardware, and thread that through. Now with our rail hand-tightened, let's go ahead and snug it up. You can use a socket wrench to do so. I'm using a T30 torque bit, and I'm using a screw gun at a low torque setting, that way I can ensure I don't strip it out. Great, now all we've got to do is repeat that same process on the other side. With both of our rails reinstalled with our brackets, we can go ahead and proceed with the installation of our Bakflip Tonneau cover. Next we'll get our weather strip installed on our front bulkhead. If your drop-in bed liner covers this, you don't have to use it. We'll first clean it off with some alcohol. Now we can grab our weather stripping and we're going to cut it to fit at our bulkhead here. We'll start right here, make sure it's in position, and bring it on over. There we go, so I'm going to cut it right there. We'll just check it and make sure it fits. I'd say we're good, let's go ahead and pull that back, and then we'll put it in place. As you can see, we've got it center with the bulkhead here and we're just going to work our way down. We'll work our way back down just to make sure we've got a good stick. Now we can set our Bakflip rails in place. To do so, we'll need to have the tailgate all the way up. We'll grab one of our rails- We need to make sure that the silver bracket is all the way up front towards the bulkhead and is facing towards the center of the bed. Put that in place, make sure it's all the way forward, and then we'll do that with the other side as well. Now we can grab our bracket. Our bracket's going to go in the upright position as you see here, and it's going to go around our Bakflip rail and around our truck bed side rail there. First we need to make sure that we're six to nine inches from the front bulkhead. We also need to make sure that our truck bed side rail is completely level and all the way pushed forward, so it helps to put a little bit down pressure. If you need an extra set of hands, you can get an extra set of hands, that's fine. We'll go ahead and put that in place. We'll make sure that bracket is all the way up. I'm going to hold it with my thumb. I'm going to hand tighten that down, then I'll grab my 9/16ths socket wrench and tighten that the rest of the way down. When tightening down our brackets, we'll get them nice and snug, and then once they're snug we'll give them an additional half-turn. Then we're all set. For our second bracket, we're going to go ahead and line it up with the center of the wheel well. Another thing you want to make sure, is that the teeth here line up with the teeth or the grooves on the Bakflip rail. For our last bracket, it's going to be placed at approximately six inches from the tailgate. That's perfect because it's right around our bed liner here. Let's go ahead and put that in position, line it up. Now we'll just repeat that same process on the opposite side. With both of our Bakflip rails and our brackets installed on our truck, we're just about ready to bring in our Tonneau cover. For this application, we found that it was easiest to run our hoses first, because of the way that we want to run them. We want to run them behind the drop-in bed liner, so we're actually going to go up through here, and attach it to our hose here. We're going to go ahead and do that now, first. I'm going to go ahead and guide the hose up, and if need be, you can grab a prying tool to help pull that bed liner out. Be careful when you do so, you don't want to scratch the paint on the actual truck bed, so do it nice and easy. You're just going to tuck it in there, then I'll push the house up all the way through. All right, you can see our hose coming up. I'm just going to attach it underneath there, make sure it goes all the way up- I'd say we're good there. Then we can take our hose down here and tuck it away. Now we can go ahead and set our Tonneau cover in place. It's a good idea to get an extra set of hands. We're just going to bring it up alongside the bed. We're going to make sure that it's in the folded position. We're just going to set it in, and set it just like that for now. In putting our Tonneau cover in place, you need to make sure that the smaller front panel is facing forward as you see here. We also need to make sure that it's sitting just inside the bulkhead, so it's going to sit right on top of the weather seal there and provide a good, nice seal. The next thing we need to make sure is that our holes are lined up with our brackets. If we've ensured that it's all lined up with our bulkhead, it should do just that. Let's go ahead and grab our hardware, and I'll show you the order it's going to go on. We'll grab our flat bolt first. We'll take the rubber washer and put that on, make sure it seats all the way up against the flat portion of the bolt. Then we're going to put it down through the hole. Then we'll follow it by another rubber washer, and then the metal flat washer, the lock washer, and then finally the thumb screw. Let's go ahead and do all that and I'll meet you underneath. All right, so we're here underneath the Tonneau cover, let's go ahead and put the rest of our hardware on. We're just going to loosely install it for now. Let's go ahead and do the other side. Now we can fold the Tonneau cover back towards the tailgate to make sure that it fits squarely. Once we get back towards the tailgate, it should fit just inside the tail gate with the seal on top of the plastic there. Now we can fold it back up against the cab, and tighten down our knobs. The way we do that, we'll open up our tailgate, pull down on the latch cable, and then we'll just keep going towards the cab. Every other one is going to have a cable latch, work our way, and then we can tighten down our knobs. In tightening these down, we're just going to tighten them down until the lock washer flattens out. With both of our knobs tightened down, this would be the time that you'd go ahead and run your hoses. Since we already did that with our bed liner, we can go ahead and skip that step. Now we're just about finished. We can go ahead and install the three cab bumpers on this portion of our Tonneau cover. What that's going to do is it's going to provide good padding between our Tonneau cover and our cab. They have some adhesive on the back. There's no real reason to get a tape measure out, you just need to make sure and space them out evenly. We can start there, make sure we get one in the middle, and then on the end. I'd say that looks about even. Let's go ahead and peel away the adhesive on the back. There you see it, it can rest right up against the back here. Finally we can install our clip prop rods. We'll need to lift up the Tonneau cover, lean it up against the cab of the truck, and we're going to clip this end right here onto this right here. We'll just push it in place until it snaps in, like so, then we can lean the rod up against here. We can adjust our anchor, or our slide, bring it down and then tighten it up. Now we'll just repeat that process on the other side. When not in use, we can un-clip our prop rods and stow them away in our clip here. After the initial install, you may find that the side seals are kind of wrinkled or bunched up like that. You can simple just take your thumb and draw them out, just like that. Over time with the truck sitting in the sun they will level out, or if you'd like to get it taken care of right away, you can take a heat gun or dryer to it. That's going to complete our look and install. The Bakflip G2 Hard Tonneau Cover, part number BAK26410T on our 2014 Toyota Tundra.

Installs fairly easily. Plastic bed liner needed a few modifications to get the rails flush. Otherwise very nice functional cover. The prop up mechanism looks a little weak for driving with the cover up, but so far no problems

I ordered a Bakflip tonneau cover and fob lock for my tailgate. Instructions on the cover were perfect. It looks great. Absolutely no institutional videos on my 2011 GMC Canyon for the remote. The wiring connection portion of the install was just past tedious. Once figured out it works like a dream.

Still is exactly what I hoped it would be. Adds security to my pick up bed, looks great and gets compliments. Plus it is easy to use. Great product...

Very easy to install. I didn't use the instructions (no, I'm not one of those guys). I used the installation video on the BSK G2 tonneau cover on etrailer.com! It arrived in just a few days and was very well packaged. I can finally store things in the bed of my truck safely. Way to go etrailer and BAK Industries!!

Comments
It has been holding on strong. One of the weather strips was coming undone, but I was able to adhere it back down.

Review from a similar BAKFlip G2 Tonneau Cover in Tonneau Covers

Ok the cover is great if you use it to secure items in the back but, the down fall is how the system attaches to the Ram trucks. The pressure applied by the bolts for securing the side rails causes the manufacturers bed rails to buckle in the middle which, is minimal if you live in a cold climate but, for the majority, it causes issues. I love the security but I hate what it does to my bed rails.

Looks great, but it leaks from every side have tried to adjust several times and nothing has changed. Also this item is very easy to break into. Is there anything like a lock or a latch that I can install that I can purchase from you?

Comments
I reached out to the manufacturer who advised that you will want to make sure that the cover is centered on the bed. If it is not centered then it can lead to greater leaks. The only way to lock the cover is to lock to the tailgate. We do carry after market tail gate locks for a 2015 Chevy Colorado such as part # PAL1700
Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock with Handle - Manual - Black
$63.07
if needed. We also have an alternate cover that locks into place electronically it is part # 311-BECA03A25

Review from a similar BAKFlip G2 Tonneau Cover in Tonneau Covers

The tonneau cover is excellent when you get it installed properly. I can only give it a 3 rating because the workmanship of their latches the way they installed them was very shabby. Had to move all the latches back into their frame so they would not hit the side rails, had to re-drill holes that fastened most of the latches to the frame. If they would have taken their time installed the latches properly, then it would have been an excellent tonneau cover all over.

Comments
After year of use I love the tonneau cover. had issues installing but after using for a year I would give it a five star.

Review from a similar BAKFlip G2 Tonneau Cover in Tonneau Covers

This is the second BAKFlip G2 Hard Tonneau Cover we have purchased. The first was for our 2005 Chevy. This is for our 2017 GMC. The 2005 fit much better. The 2017 model is not wide enough to actually fit the bed allowing water to easily enter the bed. Also the posts that hold the cover up against the cab were drilled wrong. You have to remove the slide to fit the prop rod. They simply drilled the hole for the nutzert in the wrong spot on the passenger side. Just not the same quality fit or finish as the 2005 version. We would have returned it but sending it back was going to be too much of a hassle due to its size.
This cover is now completely junk due to a hail storm. No fault of BAKflip but the hail storm destroyed the cover is seconds. The aluminum used in this model is just too light to protect from any type of impact.

Overall, a good product. This is the third BakFlip I've owned on different trucks. Quality wasn't as good as older units. The wires to release the latches are too long and get trapped inside the cover so you can't reach them. I added pieces of tape to fix this problem. Also, the nylon straps to hold it open are a nice addition but the plastic buckles broke almost immediately. Older units with metal rings for you to attach bungee cords was a better design.

As always, etrailer service & delivery are outstanding!

Review from a similar BAKFlip G2 Tonneau Cover in Tonneau Covers

We purchased the BAK Industries BAKFlip G2 Tonneau Cover for our 2019 Ram 2500. We use this cover for security/keeping the weather off of our camping accessories for our RV. The cover works great and is fairly waterproof. The only issues we have had is the 1st latching cable, most of the time we need to pull the cable release from both sides to release the locking lugs to open. Over-all a good purchase, and would recommend it for anyone looking for a hard cover.

Love this cover. It was better than I expected. Equally as important I like working with etrailer. Good people that understand and can explain the details of their products. I have used them for a lot of stuff for my boat trailers always with good results.

Actually its closer to two years and I could not be more pleased. I have done a few rainy road trips and the one thing that worried me was if it would keep the contents dry and it did. Al else about the cover has been good too. Good product and it fit like a glove.

I like the tonneau cover very much. I installed it myself with only a couple of small issues. The only problem I had was that when the cover arrived and I opened it to check for installation instructions and parts, the parts were scattered all over the box. The box was taped together badly and must have either had a rough trip or not been inspected before shipping. I was missing some screws so I contacted etrailer and they got them sent out within 3 days. It was mentioned that it did not ship from etrailer but from some other company.

Works great. Took some hail damage but didn't crack or break, Just some dents. The four panels give lots of options and much more secure than a canvas topper. One caution: don't leave you're ice scraper in the bed, since it had a habit of freezing shut in real icy weather.
Would buy again

Easy to install and stays where you put it. Foam piece that goes on bed lip near the cab is a little narrow but does fit. After about two months a small (2-3 in. square) area lost lots paint. Other than that it is good quality and is very easy to use.
