The BAKFlip G2 tonneau proves that a truck bed cover can be both stylish and functional. This all-aluminum, tri-fold cover keeps your truck bed and its contents dry, cuts down on wind drag to improve your fuel mileage, and allows for full truck bed access without having to be removed. And because this tonneau mounts inside of your truck bed side rails, you get a low-profile look and you can still use your stake pockets to mount accessories.
Convenient Folding Design
One of the BAKFlip G2's most attractive features is that it can be folded all the way up and remain securely positioned on your truck while you are driving, even at highway speeds. This means that you can haul large cargo without having to completely remove the tonneau. Simply unlatch each of the panels, fold them one on top of the other, and flip them back so that they sit upright against the cab of your truck.
Then flip up the prop rods that are attached to the tonneau's frame rails, slide the brackets on the cover down over the rods, and tighten the knobs on the brackets to secure the upright cover in place. Rubber bumpers on the cover prevent it from marking your cab or scratching the glass of your rear windshield. When the tonneau is in this position, your vehicle's third brake light will remain visible.
If you want to maintain visibility out of your rear window, you can secure the folded panels of the cover without propping them up against the cab using the tie-down straps and buckles included with the cover. Just fold up the first 2 panels of the cover, leaving the panel closest to the cab latched in place. Make sure both buckle clips are inserted into the buckle ends on the front header panel of the cover and adjust the straps to ensure the cover is secure.
Simple, One-Person Operation
The BAKFlip G2 is easy to operate. To unlatch the rear panel, drop your tailgate and pull either of the 2 release cords located along the bottom corners of the panel's housing. Either cord will release both of the integrated latches so that you can lift up the panel. To unlatch the second and third panels, pull the easy-to-reach release cords built into the corners of those panels.
To close the cover, simply fold the panels back down. Each panel will securely latch back into place under its own weight. When your tailgate is closed and locked, no one will be able to get in to open the cover, thus safeguarding your truck bed and its contents. The sturdy aluminum construction will also prevent anyone from peeling the cover up at the sides or cutting through its center, ensuring additional security.
Heavy-Duty Construction
The BAKFlip G2's rugged construction makes it a great match for your truck, no matter what you do while at work or play. It's strong enough to hold up to 300 lbs of evenly distributed weight when it's folded down, so it can support your weight if you sit or stand on it.
Each 1/2" thick, rustproof aluminum panel has an insulated core that is made with top-quality, closed-cell foam to create a strong, heavy-duty cover. The black paint finish is UV resistant and offers corrosion protection.
The frame rails are constructed of aircraft-grade, rustproof aluminum and have a sleek black, corrosion-resistant powder coat finish. Glass-filled, aluminum-housed nylon latches and round hinges ensure smooth operation for the life of the cover. And matte black rubber seals run all the way around the cover to help to keep water out of your bed. If any water does seep through, it will run along the gutter system that is built into the frame rails and will then exit through drain hoses that install behind your cab.
Easy, No-Drill Installation
Installing the G2 is simple. All you need is a wrench, and you don't have to do any drilling. The tonneau's frame rails clamp to the inside of your truck bed side rails to create a base for the cover. The included bolts secure the front hinge rail to the frame rails at the cab. Slotted brackets on the hinge rail allow the bolts to shift in case you need to adjust the cover to achieve a snug fit.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Bakflip G2 Hard Tonneau Cover, part number bak26101. Some special features of the Bakflip G2 is that it gives you the ability to drive with the tonneau cover in four different positions. This custom fit tonneau cover protects your cargo and your vehicle's bed from the elements. This tonneau cover is made of half inch thick rust-proof aluminum panels that are sturdy and durable. It has aircraft grade rust-proof aluminum rails with black powder-coat finish to create a nice strong base for the tonneau. This is an easy no drill installation.
The G2 also has a rubber seal which goes around the bedrails of the pickup truck and also here near the tailgate. This is also going to help prevent your gear from getting wet. Its aerodynamic style reduces drag and improves gas mileage. It's made in the U.S.A. and comes with a two year warranty.
It has an integrated latch system and three portions of the tonneau cover. One here at the back, which we can lift up and fold the back panel towards the cab. Now you can drive with this panel up using the deer rings at the top and the underside of the tonneau cover. You can also fold it a second time to use it in this setting as well. Now there is a latch along the second panel which we can pull to fold it again towards the cab.
You can also pull the third latch here with the panel closest to the cab and fold it up. Now there is a soft rubber padding which the panels can rest up against the cab of the pickup truck. Now these metal rods here along each rail of the tonneau cover can fold out and rest up on the back panel putting pressure up towards the cab of the truck and preventing the panel from bouncing up and down up against the cab. We can do this by unscrewing the black knob and inserting the metal rod into position and pushing down the plate up against the metal rod and securing it with the knob. The Blakflip G2 also has a unique integrated drain tube on both the passenger and driver's side of the vehicle.
This will prevent all of your gear from getting wet. Please remember that before closing the back panel of your tonneau cover your tailgate must be closed. With that, that will complete today's review of the Blakflip G2 Hard Tonneau Cover, part number bak26101.

Very easy to install. I didn't use the instructions (no, I'm not one of those guys). I used the installation video on the BSK G2 tonneau cover on etrailer.com! Was on the pricey side but is made to hold up. You can stand on on it and it doesn’t hurt it. I found its not completely water tight but it’s not much that gets in. Only issue I had was it was missing a screw and 2 plastic rod holders came broke. 936244

We purchased the BAK Industries BAKFlip G2 Tonneau Cover for our 2019 Ram 2500. We use this cover for security/keeping the weather off of our camping accessories for our RV. The cover works great and is fairly waterproof. The only issues we have had is the 1st latching cable, most of the time we need to pull the cable release from both sides to release the locking lugs to open. Over-all a good purchase, and would recommend it for anyone looking for a hard cover. 880407

Overall, a good product. This is the third BakFlip I've owned on different trucks. Quality wasn't as good as older units. The wires to release the latches are too long and get trapped inside the cover so you can't reach them. I added pieces of tape to fix this problem. Also, the nylon straps to hold it open are a nice addition but the plastic buckles broke almost immediately. Older units with metal rings for you to attach bungee cords was a better design. This is the second BAKFlip G2 Hard Tonneau Cover we have purchased. The first was for our 2005 Chevy. This is for our 2017 GMC. The 2005 fit much better. The 2017 model is not wide enough to actually fit the bed allowing water to easily enter the bed. Also the posts that hold the cover up against the cab were drilled wrong. You have to remove the slide to fit the prop rod. They simply drilled the hole for the nutzert in the wrong spot on the passenger side. Just not the same quality fit or finish as the 2005 version. We would have returned it but sending it back was going to be too much of a hassle due to its size. This cover is now completely junk due to a hail storm. No fault of BAKflip but the hail storm destroyed the cover is seconds. The aluminum used in this model is just too light to protect from any type of impact. 564418

I like the tonneau cover very much. I installed it myself with only a couple of small issues. The only problem I had was that when the cover arrived and I opened it to check for installation instructions and parts, the parts were scattered all over the box. The box was taped together badly and must have either had a rough trip or not been inspected before shipping. I was missing some screws so I contacted etrailer and they got them sent out within 3 days. It was mentioned that it did not ship from etrailer but from some other company. 543352

After a year it still keeps the bed dry and works the same as when it was brand new. The only issue I have is that installation requires the use of the front top hold down bracket holes thus eliminating any tie down options at the front top of the bed. The hold down brackets are still available at the front of the bed at the bottom but nothing at the top. 526915

The tonneau cover is excellent when you get it installed properly. I can only give it a 3 rating because the workmanship of their latches the way they installed them was very shabby. Had to move all the latches back into their frame so they would not hit the side rails, had to re-drill holes that fastened most of the latches to the frame. If they would have taken their time installed the latches properly, then it would have been an excellent tonneau cover all over. 358581
