What's going on everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Leer Latitude soft tonneau cover on our 2017 Chevrolet 2500 HD. If you're looking to maybe protect some of that stuff in the bed of your truck on rainy or snowy days and not really looking to spend a whole lot of money on a tonneau cover. Well, this is definitely gonna to be one. That's gonna keep all your contents dry and also maybe boost that fuel economy if you're going on long trips. It's a very cost-effective way to get a tonneau cover onto the bed of your truck.
And the nice thing about it is it's super easy to fold back. You just need one hand. You can do it from either side. Go ahead and fold this back, like this, clip it into place. And then you go ahead and drive like this.
So if you have a little bit of wet stuff in there and it's not raining or snowing and you kind of want to let it dry over the drive. You can go ahead and do that. This is a vinyl cover and it is going to sit on the top of the bedrails. It only sits up about an inch. So it's not a whole lot, but one thing I did notice about this it really looks like leather and it's not too glossy.
So you're not gonna get a bunch of glares if the sun is behind you and you're driving. That's something I kind of look for. Also, I've noticed that it has a really good seal back here. I've got a little flap here. So whenever we close our tailgate, it's going to be a nice seal and all the way around, we're gonna have the same exact amount of seals so I don't think any water is going to get inside of the tonneau cover.
If you have a locking tailgate, this is gonnasecure all your stuff inside with the nice seal that we have. It's gonna be really hard for somebody to get their fingernails underneath there and really pull it up. They're gonna break the tonneau cover in the process of doing that, but it's still a lot of effort. They have to go through to get into the bed of your truck. And again, they don't know what's in there. So they might be opening up to nothing. They might be opening up to a bunch of tools Either or it's gonna add a little bit of security and peace of mind. Whenever you just leave your truck sitting. This is definitely your entry-level tonneau cover. But if that's what you're really looking for this is going to be a great option. It's super, super easy to install and really easy to operate. They have a sink type clamp that they are very proud about. And I honestly like it super easy to use and really, really simple to install. So that means it's gonna be really easy to uninstall if you decide you don't want it. So let's go over that installation process with you now. First thing we want to do is take our tonneau cover and find the side that's going to go towards the cab of our truck. To do so, pretty much we're gonna have one side that's going to say "Leer" on it. And the other sides are going to have the female clips. So, go ahead and put that up there. And we want to make sure it is backed up to the bulkhead of our bed of the truck. And we want to make sure it's nice. And even on both sides. Once that is done, what we want to do is unfold it Make sure everything is lining up the way we want. Give it a good look, make sure it's nice and even on both sides. And if so, what we want to do is keep it exactly how it is and be very gentle to refold it up without shifting it at all. And then we're gonna go ahead and take these clamps here and install them. So what we want to do is take our piece here end it up in that slot and then you can slide it over towards the rail. And then we can start tightening this down. We're going to do the same exact thing for both sides. And once we get it to where it's relatively taut, we want to go ahead and go one, and two turns, make sure it's nice and tight. And then we can move on to the next side. Now it's time for the back clamps. What we want to do is take this little bolt out with the washer. We're going to take this little backing plate- the silver one, and we're going to put it inside of the stake pocket, just like this, align it with that little hole you see there, we can go ahead and take it. And we want to make sure that this section is gonna be facing towards the bed of the truck, line it up. And then we can replace that bolt and washer that we just took out. We can use our provided Allen key, kind of put it in place, and we're gonna do the same exact thing for the other side. And we're gonna see how it closes. Hopefully, it'll be nice and easy to click down, check that out. We always want to make sure clearance which we have decent clearance. It's gonna have a nice little seal there. And if everything lines up, how it did for us, we're done. If you're not really getting the latches to latch what we can do is loosen up this top bolt, and we can adjust this little bracket up and down. So, if you're not getting it to latch you can move that up and down to fix that. And then also if you can't get both sides to open from the same side, what we can do is we have two little Allen keys up here. So basically one of them is going to adjust where this one stops and starts. And then of course, this one here is going to clamp on this little string that goes all the way across. So, if you're not having both of the latches delatched whenever you are clicking down on one of them, you can just go ahead and loosen this, move it up a little bit more this way, tighten it back down and then you can feel them both pull at the same time. So don't be scared if you don't have the best fit like we did right away. There are some adjustments like we just went over. That'll help that. And that's going to do it for our look at the Leer Latitude folding tonneau cover on our 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, 2500..

The quality of the item is very good. Delivery time was acceptable. Customer service was excellent
Did not come with the hardware kit. Was told the kit is out of stock and that it might take two weeks to receive it.
The cover was easy to install and will be just as easy to remove if I ever need to. Looks great and will do exactly what I need it to do, I.E. increase the usefulness of my truck!
has held up very well its first year of use. We really like having the cover on our truck
Excellent looking product. Easy to install, but the setscrews on CYNC latch are so tight, you cannot adjust them.
Front brackets are cheap!
Perfect fit for my 2023 f150
Overall, I am completely satisfied with the Leer Latitude Soft Tonneau Cover. I went with this cover because it comes from a name I can trust and it was an affordable cover at the time of purchase. It offers enough protection from the elements to suit my needs. It also adds to the sleekness of my 2019 Ford F-150. Most importantly, it keeps wandering eyes from seeing what is in the bed of my truck. It was extremely easy to install and I would absolutely not hesitate to buy this cover again.
Excellent product but would have liked better instructions on adjusting the latch
I’ve been using this cover for over a year now and it’s still working as expected and holding up well cosmetically. I live in Pittsburgh PA so we get a good amount of sun and ice. This is the 2nd cover I’ve had over the last 13 years now and I would definitely buy this cover again.
I had a Leer soft tonneau, which was stolen (believe it or not!) I guess the highest compliment I can give is that I bought the same cover again.
I love shopping at etrailer! It's easy and the "how to" videos make using my purchases easy. The Leer tonneau cover is well made and firmly secures to my truck. Selection, ease of purchase, and quick delivery are the reasons i continue to purchase from etrailer!
Over all the cover looks great. The only think is that I had to adjust one side of the latch rod. And as I tighten the set screw the insert started to pull out. I pushed it back in. Seems to be OK. Hope this will not be a problem later on
