Tri-fold gloss black tonneau cover folds up to provide two-thirds or full truck bed access. Prop rods let you drive with cover open. Cover sits 1-1/4" above bed rails. Only shuts with the tailgate closed.
Features:
The BAKFlip FiberMax tonneau cover gives your vehicle that sleek look you're after without hindering your ability to use your truck bed to its full potential. This heavy-duty, tri-fold cover keeps your truck bed and cargo dry, cuts down on wind drag to improve your fuel mileage, and allows for full truck bed access without having to be removed. And because this tonneau mounts inside of your truck bed side rails, you get a low-profile look and you can still use your stake pockets to mount accessories.
One of the BAKFlip FiberMax's most attractive features is that it can be folded all the way up and remain securely positioned on your truck while you are driving, even at highway speeds. This means that you can haul large cargo without having to completely remove the tonneau. Simply unlatch each of the panels, fold them one on top of the other, and flip them back so that they sit upright against the cab of your truck.
Then flip up the prop rods that are attached to the tonneau's frame rails, slide the brackets on the cover down over the rods, and tighten the knobs on the brackets to secure the upright cover in place. Rubber bumpers on the cover prevent it from marking your cab or scratching the glass of your rear windshield. When the tonneau is in this position, your vehicle's third brake light will remain visible.
If you want to maintain visibility out of your rear window, you can secure the folded panels of the cover without propping them up against the cab using the tie-down straps and buckles included with the cover. Just fold up the first 2 panels of the cover, leaving the panel closest to the cab latched in place. Make sure both buckle clips are inserted into the buckle ends on the front header panel of the cover and adjust the straps to ensure the cover is secure.
The FiberMax is easy to operate. To unlatch the rear panel, drop your tailgate and pull either of the 2 release cords located along the bottom corners of the panel's housing. Either cord will release both of the integrated latches so that you can lift up the panel. To unlatch the second and third panels, pull the easy-to-reach release cords built into the corners of those panels.
To close the cover, simply fold the panels back down. Each panel will securely latch back into place under its own weight. When your tailgate is closed and locked, no one will be able to get in to open the cover, thus safeguarding your truck bed and its contents. The fiberglass-reinforced polymer construction will also prevent anyone from peeling the cover up at the sides or cutting through its center, ensuring additional security.
The BAKFlip FiberMax's rugged construction makes it a great match for your truck, no matter what you do while at work or play. The cover is strong enough to hold up to 250 lbs of evenly distributed weight when it's folded down, so it can support your weight if you sit or stand on it.
Each 1/2" thick, fiberglass-reinforced polymer panel has a sturdy aluminum base with an insulated core that is made of top-quality, closed-cell foam to create a strong, heavy-duty cover. The polymer construction also ensures that the FiberMax stays cooler than an all-aluminum tonneau. The painted, hair cell texture finish on top of the panels resists dents, dings, and harsh UV rays.
The frame rails are constructed of aircraft-grade, rustproof aluminum and have a sleek black, corrosion-resistant powder coat finish. Glass-filled, aluminum-housed nylon latches and round hinges ensure smooth operation for the life of the cover. And matte black rubber seals run all the way around the cover to help to keep water out of your bed. If any water does seep through, it will run along the gutter system that is built into the frame rails and will then exit through drain hoses that install behind your cab.
Installing the FiberMax is simple. All you need is a wrench, and you don't have to do any drilling. The tonneau's frame rails clamp to the inside of your truck bed side rails to create a base for the cover. The included bolts secure the front hinge rail to the frame rails at the cab. Slotted brackets on the hinge rail allow the bolts to shift in case you need to adjust the cover to achieve a snug fit.

What's up everybody. It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out this BAKflip FiberMax Hard Tonneau Cover. So this is gonna be a good option if you wanna cover up that truck bed because you can fold it in three different spots, still get access to anything in the bed. You can even fold this up against the back cab, have full access to your bed, or it easily removes if you just want it out of the way for that trip where you need to go get some gravel or something you can load it up, and it's out of the way. Let's check it out.
Two things I think about when looking at tonneau covers, at least what I want out of it, would be covering up your bed. Make sure nobody can see what's inside there. Making sure it's secure. And I want it to be easy to use and even install. So this hard tonneau cover checks those boxes because it is hard.
So you can set something up here and not worry about it. It's gotta weight capacity of 250 pounds, so it can hold up versus some of those other kind of tonneau covers like a soft tonneau cover where it kind of just has the three points with the bars that go across. So then things are gonna bow when you go to send there. So if you accidentally set your cooler in between those bars, it's gonna go down and it's gonna stretch it out and ruin it. Or if it just snows or rains, it also can collect that.
Now those are nice, 'cause you can roll 'em all the way up to the front and it doesn't cover up any of the back of your vehicle. But with that though, those aren't secure. So when you roll those out, they're soft tonneau covers. Those can easily be messed with. Somebody can tamper with that.
It's gonna be harder to do it with this one because you have the security of if your tonneau cover, I'm sorry, if your tailgate is locked, they can't get to these latches. So therefore this is locked too. So even though it doesn't have a built-in lock, it is very secure with this tailgate up and locked in place compared to some of the other bigger ones that have the canister on the inside. Those are nice because they all just seamlessly roll up into that canister and you don't have to remove anything but you gotta remember that canister takes up a bunch of space in your bed. So if you want to use your bed pretty often and you wanna use all of it, that's maybe not the best option for you. That's why this one I think is a little bit better just because you have that trifold and you can fold it up to here, clip it in and use most of your bed. You want even more of the bed, pull it up towards the cab, set those arms in place, then you have full access still. And your tonneau cover, you don't have to uninstall. With the tonneau cover up and against the cab and out of the way, you can see the rail system that you need to install. So this goes on the sides of your bed. You have a three clamp system you install to hold it in place. You can see it's on there pretty good. I'm shaking the whole truck back and forth. There's no movement here. So you know it's on there nice and sturdy. There's a no drill installation. So that part was nice too. You just need a ratchet and a socket to tighten up those clamps and get them in place. You don't have to make any holes in your truck other than depending on where you want to put the drain tube. So if you look up here towards the front, you can kind of see the tubes that come out there. We did have to drill holes in the covers down there at the bottom. That's what worked for us, but you just pop that cover out and you can drill that. So it's not like you're drilling through the solid truck or anything like that. It's just a cover over that hole. One of the special features this one actually has is the ability to drive down the road with the tonneau cover up against your bed or the back of your truck. So, how it does that is you have these arms here that are attached to the rails and they have a point here where you can put 'em back. They put up and kind of prop up the cover. They have a hand out here with a slider and some bracket. You can slide that up to release the arm or when you go put it in there, you push it down, get this hand tighten, then this doesn't move. You can see I can move it back and forth. It's not popping out place or anything like that. It's staying put. So you know it's gonna put that pressure to hold this against the back of your cab. While it's up and easier for you to see, I wanna show you how the cable works. This cable is what you pull on to release it. You can see the strikers come in on the sides is what releases it and allows you to fold it up. So as I pull on it, even though I'm on this side, it pulls the other one on the other side too which is really handy, 'cause it would be a pain if you had to go side by side to do this. So it's an easy one person job to fold up the tonneau cover. So look up here at front, right on the weather strip, it's going to be the bulkhead seal. That's because we don't have a drop-in bed liner. So there's a little bit of a gap here in our bed but that's what that strip's for. You attach that and it takes up that spot. So you can see the weather strip goes over that and with that foam underneath or that seal underneath, it's gonna keep that rain out. Something else you might not notice just by the first look at it, but here from the side, you can see how low profile it is too. It doesn't stick up a whole bunch from the top of your rails and your stake pockets are still exposed. So it doesn't take that away. So some of the tonneau covers you put on there, come over onto the rails just a little bit and take up that space. This one leaves that completely open to be used. Insulation is pretty easy, which is good. 'cause you don't want to have to spend all day putting this on there. You don't have to drill any your holes like I mentioned before. The nice thing about it is maybe get a second set of hands. You just have to install the rails and some clamps. It really doesn't take that long. Now we have a couple different videos on our site with different vehicles. If that's for you and your truck, check those out and see how it's done. Overall, I like this tonneau cover. It hit a lot of the things that I wanted to do with the truck. So, you know, it being a hard tonneau cover, it can hold up to setting something on there. It's also better than a soft tonneau cover with the bowing and stuff like that. The weather, like breaking and baiting it down. This is gonna last out longer than that. It also folds up and it's got a couple different options with the folding. Whether you buckle it in or put it up against that back glass, you have options to access your full bed if you don't wanna just fully remove it 'cause that's easy too. So you can get it up and outta the way but otherwise you'll leave it out. It looks nice in factory low profile. You still got your stake pockets here. And with the tailgate locked, nobody can get in there and mess with anything. So that's what it's all about with this. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and I hope this helped..

I love the cover being as a senior. I cannot crawl on my hands and needs to get back under a regular cover. This one falls back and I could easily remove things out of my truck.
Received in 7 days direct from factory. Read instructions, checked parts, cleaned bed rail area and assembled the rails and installed, using the step by step instructions. Took about an hour to lay out and assemble parts then finished installation under 2 hours total. Looks great fits just as advertised and is easy to use.
The BAKFlip FiberMax Hard Tonneau Cover was an excellent choice. Its a high quality product, well engineered, easy to install. No problems with the first winter and snow and ice. It cleans up easily with regular car wash products. Appreciate the security it provides with a locking tailgate. Recommended!
This cover is heavy. It doesn't alway clip in. Note: I had a professional trailer shop install it. The side clips for the brace bars came off already, had to get mew ones. The dials to tights the brace bars all came off when not in use. There should be better engineering. The concept is great! The engineering or product development needs work.
This tonneau cover is the second one on my truck Ram 3500. The first broke the first time I used it. It was replaced under warranty, no problem.
The 3 star rating is due to it being heavy and also the “joints “ where is folds need to be routinely fixed to lie flat.
the cover looks great and is sturdy.
Easy install. Would be a bit easier with 2 people although I did the install solo. Cover looks great after the installation. I did a hose spray test and very little water entered around the cover. I’m very happy with the product.
Anyone thinking of buying any other tonneau cover for their truck is nuts...(I've had two others in the past) eTrailer's BAKFlip has been in use one year now since I put this three-fold baby on my Tacoma TRD and it's met the mark of going through two Winters and a Summer off-roading... No leaks, fits snug... Helps smooth out highway riding when completely closed... and even when it's folded with 1/3 open or even 2/3 open, it's solid. Such a pleasure when something actually works as advertised and even exceeds your expectations... and it's cool that the eTrailer folks actually write you an email to check in... Keep rockin'...
My Bakflip is everything I had hoped for and more. Use it multiple times most days all year. Still looks and works like it’s still brand new. 50 years of trucks with all types of covers and tonneau covers. This is my favorite!
i have had the BAKFlip FiberMax Hard Tonneau Cover for one year now and the paint has begun fading to the point that the fiberglass is showing through the exterior coating.
How the cover works, the ease of flipping it up and securing it so it doesn't come down is good. However, the finish on the flat panels is dull and has no shine anymore after a year. I have tried different types of polishes to bring back the original shine but to no avail. It also leaks a little when it rains.. The previous cover I bought from you lasted 6 yrs. I would not buy this item again
Still looks brand new after a year. A very good quality product.
I am very satisfied with this Tonneau, still looking good and strong as the first day.
Normally I don't write reviews but thought since I am so pleased with this truck bed cover I would. First, the cover arrived quickly and came packed extremely well, without any damage. Secondly, after viewing the utube video on installation it only took a few minutes to install. A year after installation it still looks as good as the day I installed it. I believe it's the best cover on the market.
Fantastic product. I had seen this product on other trucks and loved the low profile look. I sought the name of the company out and did my research into what else was out there. When I got my new truck (Toyota Tacoma, Extended Bed) I was very picky about what went on it. The price of the product reflects the quality of it's design and ease of use. Installation took me less than an hour solo and it was not difficult at all. I have used it in all of it's multiple possible positions and besides it's convenience and adaptability, it also stays very secure, whatever the position. I feel I got exactly what I paid for and could not be more pleased.
works great with my 2020 2500 denali mutilpro tailgate!
Super easy installation. Love the look. Keeps everything dry and protected from weather and prying eyes.
One year post purchase, I am still a happy camper. Went on easily, and have taken it off easily when necessary. A bit of water gets in, but less than the amount when I had a name brand professionally installed shell. Would definitely recommend! 2020 Ram 3500
I have had these installed for a year now, best I have ever purchased and have recommended them the several friends.
It has been a wonderful product, one that I was able to install! I will buy it again for the next truck that I purchase.
Cover is of excellent quality. After one year it still looks new. Highly recommend this product.
