Lionshead Roadside Assistance Program

This tire-and-wheel assembly comes with complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years. If your RV or trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change the flat for you. You can call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year from anywhere in the United States, Canada, or Puerto Rico.

1-Year No Excuses Guarantee

This tire has a 1-year No Excuses Guarantee. If within the first 12 months the tire is damaged in any way that's not covered by warranty, it will be replaced at no charge. You will also be compensated a flat labor rate for the cost of mounting the replacement tire.

The Nitrogen Advantage

Nitro Fill Logo

The NitroFill inflation process filters out oxygen to ensure that this tire-and-wheel assembly is filled with 95 to 99.9 percent pure nitrogen. Nitrogen-inflated tires maintain pressure better than tires inflated with standard air. This makes them ideal for RVs and trailers that are driven infrequently or sit in storage for long periods of time. Other benefits of consistent tire pressure are better fuel economy, improved braking and handling, decreased chance of tire failure, and longer tire life.

A tire inflated with standard air, which contains oxygen, is prone to fluctuations in pressure due to loss of air over time and ambient temperature changes. Nitrogen-inflated tires don't experience these fluctuations for a couple reasons. First, nitrogen molecules are larger than oxygen molecules, so they are less likely to permeate a rubber tire. Second, nitrogen is a dry gas, so it won't allow condensation to build inside the tire. A tire inflated with standard air may have moisture in it, which means it is more likely to be affected by ambient temperature.

In addition, the moisture that can collect in a tire inflated with standard air will contribute to corrosion of the wheel and deterioration of the rubber tire from the inside out. A nitrogen-inflated tire-and-wheel assembly is less likely to experience this type of decay. Less moisture in the tire also means reduced running temperatures.

If necessary, you can top off the tire with standard compressed air. But to maintain the benefits of nitrogen, the tire must be refilled with nitrogen.

Beveled Stud Holes

Beveled Stud Holes Front and Back

The stud holes on this steel wheel are beveled to ensure that the wheel stays tight against your trailer hub. This also eliminates the need to constantly retorque the lug nuts.

Westlake Radials

This radial ply tire from Westlake is constructed with double steel belts and double polyester cords for increased durability. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.

Westlake Standard Tread Close-Up

The standard tread on this tire has solid, continuous ribs, and there are very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. This tire is designed for use on trailers, so it doesn't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Video Transcript for Review of Westlake Tires and Wheels - Tire with Wheel - LHAW124

Today we're going to take a look at the Westlake ST225-75R15 radial trailer tire in a load range E on this 15" silver modular steel trailer wheel with the six on 5.5" bolt pattern. Now this tire and wheel assembly is ideal for RVs, campers, and trailers. It's a sturdy modular design wheel. When we say modular, that's the one that has the round holes all the way around the wheel. That design is durable, lightweight and rustproof. This one does use the silver powder coat finish over an E-coat primer to help resist rust and corrosion. They do use the beveled stud holes to help keep the wheel securely in place on your trailer hub.

Eliminates the need for constant re-tightening of your lug nuts. The tire that's on this wheel is a Westlake radial tire. It is constructed with double steel belts, double polyester plies for nice long life. They do use a nylon tread-firming belt overlay, help prevent tread separation. And it is a radial ply tire, so it is great for highway use. Now the tire is inflated with nitrogen.

That's why you'll notice it has the green valve stem cap on there. That'll help maintain tire pressure for longer periods than standard air, and it helps prolong the life of the tire and the wheel. The tire itself is a special trailer tire design, has an ST marking on it. This has sturdy sidewalls so they can handle heavy loads, and it is created specifically for trailers, and not intended for use on any other vehicles. This whole assembly does come with a complimentary roadside assistance for two years. They do offer you flat tire service, available 24/7 anywhere in the U.S., Canada, or Puerto Rico.

This assembly does meet the DOT Department of Transportation specifications.A few specs on this starting with the wheel. The diameter of the wheel, it's always measured inside. The inside is 15" in diameter. The width on the wheel is 6" wide. Bolt pattern on this wheel is a six on 5.5" bolt pattern.

If you want to measure that on a wheel, it's an even number of lugs. It's pretty easy, you just take one of the holes, measure from the center of that hole directly across to the center of the hole right across from it. On this wheel, it'll measure 5.5". So six lugs, 5.5" bolt pattern. Does use the wheel lug size of 0.5" by 20.Now, the weight capacity on just the wheel is 2850 pounds, and the pilot hole diameter, which is this large hole here in the center of the wheel, goes over the hub on your trailer, diameter of that opening is 4.29". Now, the tire itself, the tire size will be stamped on the sidewall. You can see it's ST for special trailer, 225/75R15. The R will designate that it's a radial design tire. Section width on the tire is 8.8". Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated, it's 28.3".This tire is a load range E, which means it's a 10-ply rated tire, has a maximum load capacity of 2830 pounds at 80 psi. The last thing I do want to mention is most all the new trailer tires are coming through with a speed rating. The speed rating is always designated by a letter designation. So right where the size was we just went over, right after the size you'll see two numbers for a load index, and then the letter L at the end. That speed rating L will let you know that it's a 75 mile-per-hour speed rating. But that should do it for the review on the Westlake ST225/75R15 radial trailer tire in a load range E on this 15" silver modular steel trailer wheel with the six on 5.5" inch bolt pattern.

Tire/wheel arrived on time in a nice sturdy box. Much better than the loose tires I have received from other retailers. This wheel tire combo appears to be an exact match for the ones that came on my Hawke dump trailer, right down the green valve stem caps. This should allow me to rotate this one in with the tires already on the trailer. 562403

Excellent tire and rim, Excellent transaction from start to finish. Great e mails along the way. Bought as a spare but its' a 10 ply so swapped out it out with an 8 ply on my dump trailer. Next paycheck going to pick up another for fulltime use on my single axle dump trailer, guess I'll have two spare now,, but well worth the extra level of insurance with heavy loads. 665287

Review from a similar Westlake Radial Silver Mod in Tires and Wheels

Ordered this rim for a spare; to match what I have and the D rated Westie tire mounted; with the intention of getting 3 more of the same tire (only) in the near future. I’ve had a set of Westlakes before and trust them. Sidewall is stiffer than some and the rubber looks to be high quality. I think the brand is under-rated, in fact. I prefer etrailer for my trailer / towing needs. One concern is not getting a tire that has been in their warehouse too long. You are at their mercy as to what you get. The warranty is 2 years and that’s okay, but if I change tires every 5 years, getting one 2 years old would not be a good thing. This tire was made 5018, or the about December 7 to 15, 2018. Not too bad. Tire and rim looks perfect. 651684

Glad to have the strong shipping box to store this tire in. It is a spare for our car dolly, so even though the manufacture date was 2014, and I bought it in 2018, it should last us a good long time. The specs match the dolly manufacturer's, and it looks right, so we will hope it goes on easy when the time comes. The price was right! 576149

You would either need to get new 16 inch wheels with the proper bolt pattern to match what the hubs require or to get your existing wheels you would need to go with 16.5 inch tires. You mentioned you have 215/60-16 tires which is not a trailer tire size. You should only use trailer tires on a trailer (they will have ST in front of the size). Trailer tires are built with a thicker sidewall compared to passenger vehicle tires. This is so...

  • Recommended 15 Inch Trailer Tires and Wheels for Long Life
  • We like to keep our prices pretty competitive. We recommend that trailer tires be replaced every 6 or 7 years regardless of how worn they are. Since trailer tires are often not used everyday, like vehicle tires, a lot of times they get old before they wear out. Tires break down over time just from being exposed to the elements like sunlight and saltwater. A trailer wheel will last much longer than the tires, often for many years, depending on how the trailer is used and the construction...

  • Locating Weight Capacity on Trailer Wheels
  • The 3,580 pound rating you found stamped on the wheel of your Keystone Raptor may very well indicate its weight capacity. A 16 inch wheel will typically have a weight capacity of around this amount, so this is likely the case. If you are able to locate the manufacturer/brand of the wheel, as well as its size, this will also help to narrow down the possibilities. If you are able to give me the tire size you are needing, I will be happy to recommend a Load Range F tire that will fit your...

  • Recommended Tires for Forest River 5th Wheel Trailer with 10,596 Pound Loaded Weight
  • The existing tires on your Forest River Rockwood Fifth Wheel Trailer, which feature a Load Range D of 2,540 pounds, will give you a total load capacity of 10,160 pounds with all four tires on the trailer. This capacity falls quite a bit below the 10,596 pound loaded weight of your trailer that you mentioned, so I definitely recommend upgrading to a tire with a greater load capacity. I recommend taking a look at the Westlake ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 15 inch Silver Mod Wheel...

  • Recommended Replacement Tires for 8.75R16.5
  • We do not carry any tires that are 16-1/2 inches to fit the 16-1/2 inch wheels like # 17-163-7. That is more commonly a Light Truck Tire for use on a motorhome and requires Light Truck which we don't carry in that size or Passenger tires which we do not carry at all. If you want to change out both wheels and tires on a trailer, then I do have a recommendation. The 16 inch size is far more popular than the 16.5 inch and will give you many more options but will also give you larger and...

  • Recommended 225/75R15 Tire and Wheel with 6 on 5-1/2 Bolt Pattern
  • There are quite a few options for your tire depending on your style preference with the 225/75R15 tires with 6 bolt wheel. For a basic and clean looking steel wheel option, I recommend the Westlake # LHAW124. This is a silver mod style wheel rated for 2,830 lbs and speeds of up to 75 mph. The Lion's Head tires and wheels offer the best warranty with a one year wheel, 5 year tire, and 2 year roadside assistance warranty. I've linked the page to all your options. The 2,830 is the...

  • Recommended Replacement Trailer Tire For P255/75R15
  • I did some research and the tires we have in our selections available will be "too skinny" to work with your rim. We do have tire and wheel combinations that would work if you are willing to replace everything. For example, Item # LHAW124 is a Westlake ST225/75R15 radial tire and wheel combination with a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern that has a maximum load capacity of 2,830-lbs at 80 psi. If you send me your bolt pattern and trailer weight capacity, I can make a correct recommendation....

  • Comparing the Provider A16RTK6SM and the Westlake LHAW124 for Use on a Boat Trailer
  • If your current Provider 235/80R16 Tires, like part # A16RTK6SM, are scraping your fenders when you go over bumps, and if they are putting you over a legal load limit of 13 feet 6 inches, then I definitely recommend going with the 225/75 size tires that you said are the recommendation for your boat trailer. When looking at the different options available for you, it looks like the tire and wheel combination that you will need is actually 225/75R15. The common bolt pattern between size...

  • Tire and Wheel Recommendation for 2002 Coleman Utah Trailer
  • I really like the 15 inch trailer rim size 225/75-15 as it has a lot of great options in terms of tires that are high quality. The only piece of information needed from you is the bolt pattern of the hubs on your trailer. The most common bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2 inch like the # AC225R645SM which has a great tire with a high speed rating at 81 mph. The other most popular bolt pattern is 6 on 5-1/2 inch like what the part # LHAW124 which has a higher speed rating at 75 mph and a 2...

  • Will Higher Load Range Trailer Tires Require Higher-Pressure Valve Stems
  • If your current valve stems do not have the pressure capacity required by new special trailer tires then you will also need to replace those when you upgrade from a LR-C tire to a LR-E tire. Increasing a tire's load range rating is one way to potentially help avoid tire failures, but the keys to keeping special trailer tires in good shape are the basics: never operate them at an incorrect psi pressure rating; never operate them at a higher speed than their rating; and never overload...

  • Recommended ST225/75R15 Tire and Wheel for Boat Trailer Used in Saltwater
  • The Westlake ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 15 Inch Silver Mod Wheel # LHAW124 referenced in your question will work very nicely on a boat trailer. This radial tire is mounted to a sturdy steel wheel that features a silver powder coat finish over e-coat primer to help resist rust and corrosion. While this is a really nice option for boat trailer use, since you will be using your trailer in saltwater applications, I highly recommend looking at an aluminum wheel set like the Westlake...

  • Replacing Tires and Wheels on 1966 Airstream Overlander
  • I recommend that you replace the old 7.00-15 LT trailer tires with the Westlake ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire part # LHAW124 as long as you have the clearance. I recommend this because the Westlake trailer tire is a radial tire and all of the 7.00-15 LT we sell are bias trailer tires. Bias tires are an older design and have a stiffer sidewall than a radial. A radial tire construction is designed to flex, which creates better traction and less heat build up because it does not generate...
