Provider Radials with Automotive-Grade Tread

Provider Tread Vs Standard Tread

Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the automotive-grade tread on these Provider radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Provider tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.

Provider radials are constructed with double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Provider radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

I am impressed with how quickly I got the tires, No hassles! I am glad to have found speed rated trailer tires. I have not had them long enough to determine if they will last or how well they will perform I have towed approximately 500 miles (22' center console boat with dual axle trailer) with no issues. If they last and wear will I will upgrade the rating if they perform poorly I will down grade the rating. 242872

Well I have had these tires on for a year now. Have had no issues. They didnt even lose air over the short Florida winter storage. I have recommended these to several people who were looking for trailer tires. I think the biggest thing that people arent aware of is the heat that builds up in these smaller trailer tires on the highway. I have not noted any deterioration or tread separation so far. we have pulled several 100 mile trips though no 1,000 mile trips yet. I will update as they allow me to!

So far so good, went right on the wheels I ordered to go with it. Came quickly and are very obviously brand new as advertised. Going on a 1000 mile road trip with them towing my boat this weekend, will report back if I have issues, otherwise assume I'm happy! 691820

Upgraded to a better tire for our teardrop camper. Best decision ever. The previous 12 inch tires were always having issues (from a tractor place). These tires perform well, and have not had any problems (no separation, goose egg's, improper wearing, etc). When these get worn, I will be replacing with the same from etrailer. Most trailer-rated tires are too harsh for my <1500lb trailer. I was looking for a smooth-riding, quiet tire that would eject water and slush. I like the look of this tire tread. 510544

These look great on my Tracker boat trailer. They seem to pull a lot smoother than the old tires that had flat spotted from the last owner letting it sit for years. The radials seem to handle the bumps better as well. 433445

I didnt really think changing from bias to a radial tire would make a lot of difference but boy was I ever wrong! I wish I had changed years ago. A higher speed rating was a big plus plus the trailer seems to pull much easier now. Will definitely purchase again when the time comes and will be ordering again from Etrailer. 100 impressed with not only the product but shipping etc is top notch.

I have about 5k miles on these tires on my 3-Rail Motorcycle trailer. I've dragged it over some pretty rough dirt roads loaded with three motorcycles, and down to Baja Mexico from San Francisco and back without a problem. Many roads in Baja were in poor condition due to construction, and weather - the tires have held up perfectly. 359548

These tires are GREAT! I kept blowing tires because I didn't know the speed rating was so low on most tires (60). These tires are rated much higher (80) I think and have been performing awesome. I decided to order tires from etrailer hoping to get ones that were newly manufactured. When I bought my Aliner Sport in 2012 the tires were already two years old. I didn't know then that the life expectancy of a ST tire was more based on age than mileage. Less than 5K miles but almost 6 years, my original tire blew out at the start of a weekend trip. Bummer. Back home, after reading up on trailer tires I realized I had been lucky to run the original tires more than four years. Looking at my options I guessed etrailer would move more tires and would likely have newer tires in stock. I was right! The tires were manufactured in late May and I bought them in July. They look great, had good reviews, and will likely not be an issue for several years. ;>) 275273

Ask the Experts about this Taskmaster Tires and Wheels

Do you have a question about this Tires and Wheel?

  • Trailer Tires Rated to Drive at Highway Speeds
  • You are correct about the speed ratings, though it is often recommended not to drive faster than 65 mph because higher speeds will cause heat to build up in the tire and cause a failure. With increased speed comes an increased chance of a blowout. The item you referenced, # AM31957, is a wheel and tire combination. It uses a Kenda ST175/80R13 tire with a speed rating of M, or 81 mph. It is for 13" diameter x 4-1/2" wide wheels with a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. If you were interested...

  • What is the Speed Rating for Kenda Karrier ST175/80R13 # AM10210
  • The Kenda Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10210 referenced in your question has a maximum speed rating of 81 mph. This Load Range D, radial tire also has a maximum load of 1,610 pounds at 65 psi. I have attached a short video demonstrations on this tire that you can also look through.

  • Can 185/80-13 Trailer Tires Replace 175/80-13 Tires on Camper
  • With trailer tires, the rule of thumb is that you want to have at least 3 inches of clearance from the top of the tire to your fender and at least 1 inch of clearance from the inside of the tire to the frame rail. So with that in mind you can switch to a larger tire if you still have that much clearance. Your current ST175/80R13 trailer tire, such as the Provider # TTWTRTM1758013C measures 24 inches in diameter when fully inflated and is 7 inches wide. A ST185/80R13 trailer tire, such...

  • The highest speed rating we have for a ST175/80-13 tire is M which is suitable for use up to 81 mph. For a ST175/80-13 tire with an M speed rating we have three options for you which are Karrier part # AM10210, Contender part # C17513C, or Provider part # TTWTRTM1758013C. The Contender and Provider tires have a load range C rating which has a maximum carrying capacity of 1,360 lbs per tire and the Karrier tire has a load range D rating which has a maximum carrying capacity of 1,610 lbs...

  • Availability of a Tire that Fits a 13
  • We do have a few options for a tire rated for at least 80 mph that fits on a 13" wheel for you to choose from. Since it sounds like you will mostly be traveling on the highway I recommend going with a radial tire as they do a better job at staying cool on the highway than bias tires do. I recommend going with the Taskmaster Provider # TTWTRTM1758013C which is sized at ST175/80R13 and is rated for 81 mph. You will want to make sure that the Load Range C (1,360 lbs at 50 psi) is able to...

  • Recommended Radial Tire To Replace Bias-Ply ST185/80D13 Trailer Tire
  • The ST175/80R13 radial tire we offer like part # TTWTRTM1758013C would measure 6.889 inches wide while a tire that is ST185/80D13 would be 7.283 inches wide. That is a difference of .393 inches or a little over 1/3 inch. The # TTWTRTM1758013C tire would fit wheels that measure 13 x 4-1/2, 13 x 5, or 13 x 5-1/2 inches, so it would work well for your wheels. This is a Load Range C tire with a maximum load ratin g of 1,360 lbs at 50 psi. For a Load Range D tire I recommend part # AM10210....

  • Different PSI Listing for Two Tires on Boat Trailer
  • While it's possible that there is simply a misprint regarding the maximum psi for the tires on your boat trailer, I recommend checking the sidewalls again, specifically for their load range identifier. Based on my research, a 175/80D13 tire with a Load Range C will typically have a maximum psi of 50, while a Load Range B tire of the same size will have a maximum psi of 35. The load range of a tire indicates its horizontal and sidewall strength. This will correlate to the amount of weight...

  • Should Radial Tires be Used to Replace Bias Tires
  • Your D13 tires are bias tires which have a stiffer sidewall than radial tires. This makes them ideal for off-road and agricultual trailers but not for highway use. If your trailer is mostly towed on paved roads I recommend going with a radial. Radial tires flex more and have better ground contact. This causes them to last longer and wear better. I've linked our selection of radials for 13 inch rims. My recommendation is part # TTWTRTM1758013C because it also has the higher 81 mph...

Since you have tandem axles you will have 4 tires for a total capacity of 5,440 pounds. Radial tires like this one run cooler and track better than bias ply tires. This tire also has a speed rating of 81 miles per hour. I have linked a video review of this tire for you.

Most trailer tires are only rated for 65 mph so this is a great option for you. A radial tire will normally run cooler than a bias ply tire, especially when the tire is under a load. A tire that runs cooler will last longer. This tire has the same ST175/80-13 size as the existing tires on your trailer, but the Taskmaster # TTWTRTM1758013C is a radial tire instead of a bias ply tire, like the existing tires on your trailer. Radial tires flex more than bias tires, providing more ground contact. Additionally, radial tires run cooler than bias ply tires, especially under...

  • Trailer Tire in Size ST175/80R13 with Higher Speed Rating
  • The Load Range of a tire is related to the weight capacity of the tire and not the speed rating. We have a tire in that size with a higher speed rating at 81 mph. For that you'd want the part # TTWTRTM1758013C. This has a max load rating of 1,360 lbs at 50 psi as well.

  • Recommendation to Replace 6.70-13 Trailer Tires
  • The closest trailer tire size we have available to the 6.70 - 13 that you mentioned in your question is with a 175/80-13 like the excellent Provider Radial Trailer Tire # TTWTRTM1758013C. For a tire and wheel combo, I recommend the Provider Radial Tire with 13 Inch Steel Mod Wheel # A13RSMPVD. The wheel features a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern, so you will just want to make sure this matches your existing set. This tire will have an overall diameter of 24.02 inches and a width of 6.97...

  • Higher Speed Rated Trailer Tire in Size 175/80R13
  • Most trailer tires are only rated for 65 miles per hour, but we do offer one tire in the size of 175/80R13 that does have a 81 mph speed rating. For that you would want the Taskmaster part # TTWTRTM1758013C. This is a Load Range C radial tire with a 1,360-lb max load at 50 psi capacity. I attached a review video for the tire for you to check out as well.

The Provider ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire # TTWTRTM1758013C is the right size, is a radial tire, but most importantly it has a speed rating of 81 mph so it wouldn't overheat and fail if you were traveling 70 mph. • Replacement Boat Trailer Tire to Replace 155/80-13
  • I have a solution for you, but the tire size you are looking for is no longer available. Instead the next closest size would be the 175/80R13 which will be right at 1.4 inches taller. As long as you have room for 3/4 of an inch more sidewall in your trailer fender well this tire size would work well. The tire in that size I would recommend is the part # TTWTRTM1758013C which is a Load Range C with capacity of 1,360 lbs at 50 psi and a higher speed rating of 81 mph than most tires. Typically...

  • ST175/80-13 Trailer Tire with a Speed Rating Higher than 65 Miles Per Hour
  • Most trailer tires are rated for 65 miles per hour unless otherwise indicated on the tire. We do have some tires that carry higher ratings. Taskmaster trailer tire # TTWTRTM1758013C is an ST175/80-13 radial trailer tire, load range C, rated for 81 miles per hour and 1,350 pounds at 50 psi. The size difference between a 13 and 14 inch trailer tire does not affect the speed ratings for those tires.

  • Availability of 175/80-13 Trailer Tires with High Speed Rating
  • We recently started carrying Taskmaster tires, like the # TTWTRTM1758013C. This 175/80-13 Radial tire carries an M speed rating for up to 81 mph, which means it'll do better on the highway for you. Each tire has a C load rating, good for 1360 lbs of capacity when properly inflated to their maximum pressure of 80psi. Do you know the speed rating of the tires you were using? Many trailer tires are rated for 65 mph unless stated otherwise on the sidewall. As you found, heat is the killer...

  • Availability of 175/80R13 Tire Mounted to Trailer Wheel with 5 on 4-1/2 inch Bolt Pattern
  • The closest we have is the part # TTWA13RSM which is the tire you want on a silver powdercoated rim with a 5 on 4-1/2 inc bolt pattern. We have similar setups like the part # AM31994 that does use a galvanized wheel but it uses a Kenda tire and not the Taskmaster. I wish we had the ability to mount tires here but we do not at this time.
