Corrosion-Resistant Finish

The steel wheel goes through a 3-step finishing process that makes it both attractive and corrosion resistant. The wheel is first submerged in a zinc phosphate bath to ensure good paint adhesion. It is then e-coated with an acrylic primer base and the outboard side is finished with baked-on DuPont powder paint. The light e-coat on the inboard side of the wheel reduces friction between the wheel and your hub and eliminates the flaking that can occur with a heavily applied paint finish.

Improved Torque Retention Technology

The automotive-rated center disc is raised and the stud holes are beveled and uncoated for better clamp force retention. This technology helps the wheel stay tight against your hub without the need for constant retightening.

Bias Tires vs. Radial Tires

Bias vs. radial tire graphic

Bias ply tires are designed for off-road or agricultural applications. They are built with thick, durable nylon cords that are positioned at a 30- to 45-degree angle to the direction of travel. The layers alternate in a crisscross pattern, making the sidewalls stiffer so that the entire tire is able to flex easily. As a result, the tire provides a smooth ride and improved handling when trailering on uneven surfaces.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

quick shipping and great tires. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is that one tires was missing a valve stem cap and the wheels were pretty dinged up around the rim edges. 465875

Good tires. Nuff said. 373751

Tires are exactly what I was looking for. George pointed me in the right direction. Great customer service and timely delivery. Will purchase from etrailer again. Jeff 548424

Received the 2 tire and wheels very quickly,,,in respect to my expectations anyways,,they arrived in good condition and packaged well to keep them protected during shipment,,tires appear to be exactly as advertised,,,good weight to the steel of the rim,,tire and wheel bolt up to trailer with exact lug spacing,,,,,just have not pulled the trailer down the road yet to get any mileage on the tires to see how they hold up yet,,,,hoping they do as well as i expect them too,,,,,so far,,very pleased with my decision to purchase these tire wheel combos from etrailer.com. My only reservation in not giving 5 stars is waiting for tires to prove themselves. 280746

After a year of use about 12 - 15 miles a week the tires still look good and in my opinion was a perfect decision. If I can figure out how to do it I would like to change my original rating to 5 full gold stars now that I know the tires can be expected to last awhile.

Just the right fit. Look nice. Sizing guide very helpful. 328876

Everything is going good
Tom K - 12/30/2017

Excellent tire, I purchased these tires to replace my 10+ year old Carlisle tires from the local big-box store which didn't seem worn much but were definitely weather checked and not holding air. My primary concern when buying new tires was having a trailer tire which was designed for highway (70+ Mph) trips. The weekend after installing the tires I completed a 400+ mile trip which consisted mostly of 70 Mph highways and back roads through the Blue Ridge Mountains. The first half of the trip was dry, and the second half of the trip it rained very hard. The tires performed flawlessly through a variety of conditions. I especially appreciate that the tire & rim combo I purchased had heavy duty metal valve stems. This is something my RV doesn't even have. Customer service from etrailer was stellar too. I normally don't call to place orders, but because I needed them so quickly they recommended a phone order. They emailed me details along the way, and the tires arrived on time. If I ever need trailer tires again I would absolutely order from etrailer again. Additionally, I will be sure to refer others to etrailer. 376308

Still great tires a year later- Didnt even need air this spring!
Steve C - 05/04/2018

All the people I dealt with at etrailer were awesome. The tires and wheels are high quality and fit like they should. I'm a first time buyer at etrailer and extremely happy. I had trouble finding wheels with a 2.5 inch pilot hole and these fit like a glove. Not only did I get free shipping it only took two days. 603485

I received my two trailer tires a day earlier that I expected. I have purchased many items of the past few years and have never had an issue. Love the service. 726385

Excellent service guys!!!!! Product arrived quickly and exactly what I ordered. 662023

looks good 655938

Perfect fit. Quick delivery. Easy to purchase because of the description. What other websites don’t show is the most critical piece to a having a correct order, which is providing the pilot diameter in the description. 647085

fast delivery . tires look great . I have not used them yet. 640288

Online purchase was easy, everything was explained in the sale of the product. Quick delivery. 613276

Great quality product , all the needed information listed to insure a perfect fit , fast shipping. Look no further for a great shopping experience. 611185

Great products, perfect fit, holds air without leaks. Keeps my trailer tracking nice and straight down the road. 590773

The product description was very detailed and accurate. Exactly as described. The only company I found that has this product which has a 2.5" center bore. Product arrived in two days. I was able to track the shipment during delivery. 581602

So far so good. Haven't been on the highway with them yet but they are in good balance and true round unlike the 8 inchers I replaced. More later 554885

Bought this to replace a damaged wheel and tire. It was delivered promptly and was an exact fit. Great Price. 518187

Bought so I could tow at over 65mph (as these are rated to 81mph). Works great and does exactly what I needed. 509230

Out of the box they look great. Fit perfect, and took them out for a trial run no bounce and tracked great 506486

Tires and rims arrived quickly. One tire was deflated, but with a few turns of a wrench on the high pressure valve stem it inflated quickly and held pressure. 460584

Great wheels with tires at a great price, plus free shipping and fast delivery! I will order more from your company in the future. 460370

Order to delivery 3days, mounted wheels on the day of arrival and off I go. Amazing. A local search showed that I could not have bought the tire only for the cost of buying the whole wheel from etrailer -- not even counting the cost of mounting/balancing. Great service, great product, great company. Thanks etrailer, I will be back. 457949

The shipping time was prompt and the packaging was excellent. The wheel-tire combination was as described one the web site . I have not put them on my boat trailer yet but I don’t expect any problems. Thanks for great service. 445134

  • Recommended Tire Replacement for 4.8-12 Tires for Higher Load Capacity
For your 1971 Trailstar Pop-Up that you have modified, I recommend the Taskmaster 4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" White Spoke Wheel - 4 on 4 - Load Range C # TTWAA12WS. This combination of wheel and tire has a load rating of 990 lbs at 90 psi and has a speed rating of 81 mph. That will give you an axle capacity of 1,980 lbs. If you are willing to use a slightly different tire, then I recommend moving to a radial with the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Tire w/ 12" White...

When you look at the trailer weight, you will want to make sure you account for the weakest part of the system as that will be your max capacity. If your tires are the lowest rated for load capacity, then you can upgrade the tires. It is not likely that you will be able to jump to 12 inch wheels as that is a really large jump which would take your overall wheel diameter from the 16.1 inches to about 22 inches. That isn't including the the 3-1/2 to 4-1/2 inches you will need above the...

This 12 inch tire and wheel combo fits a 4 on 4 bolt pattern. It is the same size as your 4.80/4.00-12. It has an outer diameter of 20.5 inches when fully inflated which is close to your current tire diameter. It has a total wheel capacity of 1,250-lbs at 90 psi and a maximum speed of 81 mph. • Comparison Of Taskmaster And Kenda 12-Inch Bias-Ply Tire Wheel Combo
The Taskmaster, part # TTWAA12WS and the Kenda, part # AM30620 are very similar. They are both 6-ply 12 inch bias ply tires and are Load Range C tires mounted on a 12 inch 8-spoke steel wheel. The wheels have a 4 on 4 bolt pattern. The only difference between these two combos is the pilot hole on the wheel. The # TTWAA12WS combo has a pilot hole diameter of 2.5 inches and the # AM30620 pilot hole measures 2.84 inches diameter.

  • Will the Taskmaster # TTWAA12WS be a Compatible Replacement for a Wheel with a 2.5 inch Pilot Hole
As long as your current hub uses the 4 on 4 bolt pattern that the wheel that comes with the Taskmaster 4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" White Spoke Wheel # TTWAA12WS uses, then this will fit perfectly on your trailer. The 2.5 inch pilot hole matches your current setup so the spindle diameter will not be an issue. This combination does have a speed rating of 81 mph so you will be able to safely travel at speeds greater than 55 mph that your current tires are limited to. Please keep...

  • 12 inch Diameter Trailer Wheel and Tire Recommendation with Higher Speed Rating
For a higher speed rating trailer wheel and tire that has a 12 inch diameter and is mounted on a wheel with a 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern we have the # TTWAA12WS. This comes with a tire size of 4.80-12 and a speed rating of 81 mph. The pressure rating for this tire is 90 psi which means you have to run this psi at all times. Failure to do so means the tire will heat up, have diminished capacity, and will wear bad. If you were running too high of pressure in your trailer tires that would...

The tire and wheel combos we carry like the part # TTWAA12WS you referenced are not machined balanced. You can have the tire and wheel combos balanced at a local tire shop if you wanted to. This is a type of balancing but not like how car tires are balanced (with weights on a balancing machine).

Thank you for all of your information. I can definitely help you understand the difference between lug-centric hubs and hub-centric hubs. Lug-centric hubs have studs that are permanently on the hub. To install a wheel you would place them on the studs and then secure it in place with lug nuts like part # CE11051. Hub-centric hubs use bolts to secure the wheel to the hub (like what you have). It sounds like you are using trailer wheel bolts like part # RG02-020 and are getting confused...

  • Correct Tire Pressure for 4.8-10-12 Load Range C Trailer Tire
The 4.8-10-12 tire should be kept fully inflated to maintain its load range capacity. If the tire sidewall states that the tires should be kept inflated to 90 psi, that's what I'd recommend. Most of the tire companies only load test at full inflation, so running anything less than that will compromise the load bearing capability of the tire to an unknown degree. I've linked you to some of our trailer tire help articles.

With the Taskmaster 4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" White Spoke Wheel # TTWAA12WS the tire pressure required is 90 psi at all times. With trailer tires you have to inflate them to the max rating that's on the sidewall when cold to ensure the tire has it's full capacity and speed rating without allowing for heat build up. There isn't a diminished capacity/rating chart based on lowered pressure either so your best option is 90 psi at all times and you'd be set.
