Built-In Offset for Dual Applications

This tire-and-wheel assembly is designed to be used in dual-wheel setups. The 6.1" offset allows the wheel to be positioned closer to the trailer frame when used as the inner wheel of the setup. And if you use this assembly as the outer tire and wheel, the offset ensures that it will sit closer to the outside of your trailer.

Stud-Piloted Wheel

This stud-piloted (Budd-type) wheel centers on the studs instead of the hub. This requires the use of inner and outer lug nuts (sold separately). The nuts should be threaded correctly for the left and right sides of your trailer.

Corrosion-Resistant Finish

The steel wheel goes through a 3-step finishing process that makes it both attractive and corrosion resistant. The wheel is first submerged in a zinc phosphate bath to ensure good paint adhesion. It is then e-coated with an acrylic primer base and finished on both sides with baked-on DuPont powder paint.

Provider Radials

Provider radials are constructed with double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Provider radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Video Transcript for Taskmaster Tires and Wheels - Tire with Wheel - TTWA215H-10WD Review

Today we're going to review part number TTWA215H-10WD. This is the Taskmaster 215/75R17.5 Provider Radial Trailer Tire in a load range H, which is a 16-ply rated tire. It's mounted on this 17.5 by 6-3/4"-wide white dual wheel. Has the bolt pattern of 10 lugs by 8-3/4" bolt pattern. Now this tire and wheel assembly is ideal for medium and heavy duty trailers and trucks with dual wheels. The steel wheels you can see here has the two handhold design. There's one here and one down here at the bottom.

It's very sturdy and corrosion-resistant. The wheel itself goes through a three-step finishing process which includes first a zinc phosphate bath. That will allow for good paint adhesion. Then the e-coat acrylic primer over the wheel. Then on both sides it will be finished with the baked on DuPont white powder paint. Now this center disc here, this part is a spun form from fine grain steel.

On the back here you can maybe see it is actually fully welded all the way around to get it into place for strength and durability. Now this wheel is actually a stud-piloted design. When I say stud-pilot sometimes they just call it a bud design wheel. What it would mean, it has the chamfer holes, which the nuts would actually match that bevel to seat. It's going to actually center.

When this is put on your axle it will center off these studs, not the hub pilot. This is a stud-piloted wheel. To mount this on the axle it actually requires the use of both right hand and left hand inner wheel nuts and right hand and left hand outer wheel nuts. If you have those already, you're fine. If not, we do sell those separately on our website. Just to give you an example, this would be what the inner wheel nuts would look like.

You would get it both right and left hand. Basically this wheel, being a dual wheel, when it's used this way you'd slide it in as an inner wheel. Then to use as an outer wheel you can use the same one. It would mount this way. This would be your outer wheel. This same part number can be used as an inner or an outer wheel. When you first put this onto the hub as an inner wheel, then we can use the inner wheel nuts. It would screw onto the stud that would be protruding through here. Then this would help center it and it would seat right here. Then what you would do is flip your other wheel over for the outer wheel, slide it onto these studs that would be on there. Then this would be your outer nut. Once that outer wheel is on then you would put this on and tighten it down. Those are required. Again, if you don't have them you can order from our website. Now the radial tire itself, it does offer a smooth ride, excellent stability at highway speeds. Does use double steel belts and double polyester cord body. It has some nylon overlays, which are combined for superior function and long tire life. The tire is marked that it is regroovable right down here. Now it does have tread wear indicators just like on your passenger or truck tires. Every so often you'll see it will be a TWI, which indicates tread wear indicator. That means if you like right in the tread grooves right where that marking is it will have a raised, looks like a rubber speed bump in each four tread grooves. Basically it's raised to 2/32 tread depth. What happens is when this wears down to 2/32, that tread wear indicator would be straight across. It will give you a straight flat design. That means that it's down to 2/32, it's worn out. They have those about every 12" around. It gives you a good visual indicator of the tread wear of the tire. Now this tire and wheel assembly does meet the Department of Transportation specifications and it does exceed the federal motor vehicle safety standards. Now a few specs on this, start with the wheel. It is a 17.5 diameter. The width of it is 6-3/4" wide. The bolt pattern, as you can see right here, is a 10-bolt hole on 8-3/4" pattern. The wheel lug size that this would go into is a 3/4" thread both right and left hand. The weight capacity on this wheel is 6,506 pounds. The pilot hole diameter, which is the large hole here in the center, is 6.46". The offset, if you'll notice this is it where it mounts to the hub and the center of the wheel is here. Offset is measured from the center to here, so it would be 6.1". When it's used as the inner wheel that's a positive offset. When it's flipped around and used as an outer wheel it's a negative offset. Right down here you'll be able to see point sticking out. I'll flip it around to show you. Uses the brass metal valve stem for the high pressure that's needed in this tire. The tire size itself, which is stamped right on here, 215/75R17.5. the R stands for radial, designates a radial tire. The section width on this tire: 8.3". Overall diameter, which would be measured from the bottom to the very top when it's inflated, is 30.2. this is a load range H tire, which means it's a 16-ply rated tire, so it does have a maximum load capacity when used in a dual assembly of 4,540 pounds at 123 psi. Tread depth on the tread grooves is 16/32 and this tire does have a speed rating of J, which is 62 miles per hour. That should do it for the review on part number TTWA215H-10WD, the Taskmaster 215/75R17.5 Provider Radial Trailer Tire in a load range H on a 17.5 white dual wheel. .

Review from a similar Taskmaster Provider White Dual in Tires and Wheels

Tire and wheel combo fit perfect. Workmanship on the wheel was better than the factory wheel I was replacing. The tire looks to be a heavy duty tire but only time will tell. This tire and wheel combo was installed on a 2017 Trailmax TD40T Tilt Trailer. etrailer has a lot of great info and there prices where the best I could find. The best part was that the tire wheel combo showed up in 2 days, that is some quick shipping. 451657

Do you have a question about this Tires and Wheel?

  • Tire And Wheel Options Compatible With Dual 12,000 lb Axle
  • There probably are 18 inch wheels, however we only carry up to 17-1/2 inch wheels for that 12,000 lb application. We do have dual wheel options in a stud pilot option or a hub pilot option. We have the stud pilot options of the Provider 235/75R17.5 Radial Tire w/ 17-1/2" White Dual Wheel - Offset - 10 on 8-3/4 - LR J # A235J-10 and the Provider 215/75R17.5 Radial Tire w/ 17-1/2" White Dual Wheel - Offset - 10 on 8-3/4 - LR H # TTWA215H-10WD. We have the hub pilot options of the...

  • Weight Capacity of 40ft Gooseneck Trailer Container with Load Range E Tires and 12,000lb Axles
  • The weight capacity of a Load Range E tire will depend on its size. For example, the Kenda ST235/85R16 # AM10295 is the highest capacity Load Range E Tire that we carry and it has a maximum load of 3,640 lbs at 95 psi. If your gooseneck container trailer has 4 tires, the total load capacity of your tires will be 14,560 lbs. So although the two 12,000 lb axles on your trailer can technically hold up to 24,000 lbs, your overall setup will be limited to the maximum capacity of your tires....

  • Solution for Needing Replacing Dually Wheel and Tire in Size 9.5R16.5
  • For a dually wheel and tire setup that's going to have a similar outer diameter we have the Provider 215/75R17.5 Radial Tire w/ 17-1/2" White Dual Wheel # TTWA215H-10WD which has a 30.2 inch outer diameter. Your current tire size has an outer diameter of 30.6 inches. These also have a capacity of 4,540 lbs at 123 psi. This has the standard dually 10 bolt pattern of 10 on 8-3/4 inches. It looks like you most likely have that bolt pattern too but I can only see a few lugs in your picture.

  • Shortest Diameter Wheel Setup that Can be Used on 10k Axle
  • We don't have a tire that is rated for 5,000 lbs so you'd be looking at having to go to a dual wheel setup to give you the capacity you'd need for a 10k axle. So for that the shortest diameter would be the size 215/75R17.5 like the Provider 215/75R17.5 Radial Tire w/ 17-1/2" White Dual Wheel # TTWA215H-10WD which has a diameter of 30.2 inches.
