Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

A good alternative to 20.5 x 8-10 tires

Great job! The tires / wheels were sitting on my front porch when I got home (early), and they went on perfectly! Thank you for your price, service, punctuality, and follow up. I don't know why you're a B+ on the BBB site, but you delivered, they didn't! [Thumbs up] 723383

These tires are on a pop up camper that doesn't get used much. I've only towed it twice with the new tires for a total of about 500 miles. So far, so good and I have no complaints. The tires held air pressure well for months at a time and only required a few psi increase when I went to tow the camper. Tires seem to run cool and do not heat up much at all, they're cool to the touch after hours of highway speeds. 438825

Tires came just as described. All I had to do was add a couple pounds of air to each tire and they were good to go. Put them right on. Got the free shipping and they were still here in 4 days without paying for the quicker ship. Also they were way more affordable than lesser tires that I had priced out at several other places. No one else even had load range D. These D's were better priced than everyone else's load range C. I can't speak on the wear and tire life as I just put them on. 406267

Our summer trip was fast approaching, and a quick look at the tires on our pop-up tent trailer showed that we should get new ones. I didn't have a whole lot of time to hunt around town, but I read some reviews detailing the notable little time it took for these tires to arrive. In our haste, I even had an extra charge added for expediting (which was a pretty penny, so plan more ahead than I did). It was late afternoon on a Tuesday when I ordered, so they said they were unsure if they could ship them out that day, and to expect it on Monday, which is when we needed it by. We were hoping it would come on Friday. To my surprise, it actually came Thursday afternoon! When I unpackaged them, I could definitely tell the quality of these tires as excellent. When I took off the old tires, I was so glad because there was some really bad wear on the inside of one of the tires. I'll have to monitor to make sure these don't wear unnaturally. They came inflated at about 50 PSI. 269717

Tires and wheels look good. I have not actually gone anywhere yet with boat and trailer - just mounted them both on trailer. etrailer was the only place I got the help needed to learn what exactly was needed - lots of back and forth emails before all was done. Well, the tires are still fine, but had issues with vibration on the trailer from the TireRim combination. These do not come balanced, and due to the small size it is very hard/almost impossible to find a place that can balance them due to the small size. I had to have beads put in the rims/tires to get them to not have the awful vibration I had. There may be a better rim/tire combination out there that does not vibrate so badly, or look for ones that are already balanced..

Craig - 09/02/2014

Thanks for your feedback Craig. Trailer tires and wheels are not intended to be balanced the same as a passenger vehicle tire. When the wheels and tires are sent from the manufacture there is some slight alignment process that lines the heavy portion of the wheel up with the lighter portion of the tire if possible. However this is not considered balanced, as trailer tires are not intended to be balanced. The smaller 8 inch and 10 inch trailer tires are known to have a slightly rougher ride due to their size.

etrailer carries all the sizes, and this "D" rated assembly matches the ones on the trailer to make the perfect spare. By matching the other wheels, I will rotate my tires to get the longest possible wear and life. With two full size snowmobiles on board, the "D" rated tires easily handle the weight, with plenty of safety factor. Great product, at a great price. 27412

Ask the Experts about this Kenda Tires and Wheels

Do you have a question about this Tires and Wheel?

  • How to Select Size, Load Rating and Speed Rating for Special Trailer Tires on Pontoon Boat Trailer
  • 12-inch trailer tires are in much wider use than 10-inch tires but the tire size in itself is not really what matters, apart from them fitting properly inside the fenders or wheel wells. What is most important in selecting trailer wheels/tires is having ones with the appropriate weight load range rating for the actual loaded weight of the trailer with the boat, and having tires that are rated for your typical driving speed. Some trailer tires are rated only to 65-mph but others can be rated...

  • Is Powder Coated Wheel or Galvanized Wheel Better for 205/65-10 Trailer Tire
  • Between the white powder coated wheel on the Kenda # AM3H430 and the galvanized wheel on the Kenda # AM3H440 you are better off going with the galvanized wheel. Galvanized wheels offer the utmost in protection against rust, which is particularly important when it comes to boat trailers or any situation where the wheel is going to consistently be in contact with moisture. The process of galvanizing the wheel is going to ensure better durability over the course of time than a powder coated...

  • Replacement Wheels and Tires for PWC Trailer Using 20.5x8-10 Tires

We offer the metric equivalent of your 20.5x8-10 tire, which is size ST205/65-10. First, you'll want to confirm the wheel bolt pattern you need, either 4-on-4-inch or 5-on-4-1/2; the linked article will help you with this. • Tire and Wheel Recommendation To Replace 20.5x8x10 Trailer Tires and Wheels
  • For the 20.5x8x10, the new size is a 205/65-10. This would be the better tire for the long drives you plan on because it is a wider tire that will offer more stability. You can also get higher load capacities with the wider tire in this case if needed. I recommend the Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire, # AM1HP56, for just a tire. This tire has a load capacity of 1,650 pounds at 90 psi. It is designed to fit on 10 by 6 inch rims. Trailer tires should be inflated to their maximum psi rating...

  • Trailer Tire Size 215/60-8 vs 205/65-10 on a 2 Place Snowmobile Trailer
  • If clearance at the wheel wells and the additional inch of height at the coupler and floor is not an issue then larger tires are a good option. Larger tires create less friction as you travel because the number of rotations to go the same distance decreases. A 205/65-10 tire has a diameter of 20.6 inches and width of 8.3 inches. The original 215/60-8 tires have a diameter of 18.2 inches and a width of 8.5 inches. Since you have the clearance, I do recommend upgrading the tire size...

The highest weight capacity tire we offer in your tire size of 20.5x8x10 is the Load Range E part # AM1HP56 which has a capacity of 1,650 lbs at 90 psi. This size is the same as the modern equivalent 205/65-10 which is what this product advertises as it's size. You should note that a trailer tire has to be inflated to it's max psi at...

  • Available Trailer Wheels/Tires for Use as Spares
  • We offer trailer tires and wheels individually as well as pre-mounted wheel/tire items in the more popular sizes and wheel bolt patterns. Our main page for wheels and tires is linked for you. Just click on the filters on the page to narrow the results to what you're looking for. For example, if you click on tire size 205/65-10 you will see tires and wheels/tires in that size. Note that there is more than one 5-bolt pattern, but the most common is the 5-on-4-1/2. The linked article on...

  • Over-Under Kit Availability for a 1980 Sun Valley Camper
  • The diameter of your trailer axle will determine the size of the parts that you will need to order. If your axle is 3 inches diameter, the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit, # K71-385-00, would be a great choice and if your axle is 2-3/8 inch diameter you could use the Over-Under Kit, # K71-384-00. These kits can be installed without welding but the manufacturer strongly recommends having the new spring seat tacked in place on the other side of the trailer axle. Some refer...

  • Trailer Tire and Wheel Combo with a 4 Bolt Pattern to Replace a 20.5x8-10 Trailer Tire
  • The most economical tire and wheel combo with a 4 bolt pattern and 205/65-10 tire (replaces the 20.5x8-10 size) is # AM3H330. It is rated for 910 pounds at 35 psi. So for a single axle the total capacity of the tires would be 1820 pounds. But you still have to stay within the capacity of the trailer/axle if lower than the tire ratings. I have included a link to a video review of this tire and wheel combo for you.

  • What Is The Minimum Wheel Size for a 7 Inch Hub/Drum
  • I do have options for you but the smallest wheel size you can use with a 7" hub/drum assembly like the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles part # 8-257-5UC3 is 10" diameter. Therefore, you have the option of either upgrading to 10" diameter wheel/tire like the Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10" White Wheel part # AM3H430 which has a load range c rating of 1,320 lbs per side or you can switch to an idler hub setup with the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly part # AKIHUB-545-2-1K...

  • Is There a Trailer Tire that Can Have Pressure Lowered for Smoother Ride
  • Trailer tires really need to have their cold pressure max rating inflated in them at all times unless the brand is Goodyear as their Endurance tires can have the pressure lowered. If you can get me you tire size I can see if there's a Goodyear that fits. Otherwise if you deflate any other brand of tire you'll lower the capacity and cause heat build up. Other option you have would be installing a shock kit on your trailer suspension to soften the ride quality. But you'd need to very...

  • Will the Timbren 2K Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System Work With 205/60-10 Tires
  • The Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System with Hubs part # A20RS545 has a distance of 4-7/8" from the hub face to the frame where the bracket mounts. The 205/60-10 tires are 8.1" wide. Therefore, assuming you have a zero offset wheel (most common) there will be around 1" of clearance between the inside of the tire and trailer frame and this is fine so you will be good to go. For a 205/60-10 tire/wheel with zero offset, I recommend the Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10"...
