Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

My tire showed up very quick in time for a weekend trip even though I didn't order it until Tuesday. It is exactly as you would expect, properly aired up and ready to go on my trailer. The load range d is worth the extra money if you plan on loading your trailer with more than just 2 snowmobiles. The galvanized rim is also worth the extra money as they never rust like a steel rim so you could just mount a tire without buying another rim. I once bought these tires from a local shop for $100 a piece only to find a hole the very 1st time I used them and the shop wouldn't even patch it unless I paid an additional $20. These tires are well worth the convenience and knowing that they're brand new and will last for years 348385

Great tires for a great value. Bought them to replace a set of rusted steel wheels and after many trips up north through snow, ice, and heavy road salt, over a year later, they still look brand new!! Great value!! 728479

Purchased two Kendal 215/60-8 tire/ galvanized wheel combos for an aluminum snowmobile trailer that I'm converting to a home built camper. Liked the load range D and 81mph speed rating for interstate highway travel. Good price and shipped within hours of my order being placed. Happy Camper 722263

Tire on rim delivered early in the morning on the day you advised it would be received. The galvanized rim should survive better in out winters on salted roads than the original steel rims. The tire rating is superior to the ones that are on the trailer. I will order from you again as replacements are required. 716437

Just got these for my Vermeer Chipper , the load rating is D vs. C rating on most interweb suppliers. In fact , ETrailers are the only folks to offer D rating! My 3rd order from them and great prices , excellent service. They always follow up to make sure you’re happy. Have to drink a few more beers, cash in the aluminum and will buy Lippert TT auto leveling system from them ! 706853

These tires are a good value and have given me great service in the past. I especially like being able to buy a load range D tire from etrailer. It seems like the tires used by OEMs have little excess weight carrying capacity. Going to a higher load rating gives me a little "extra margin" of safety and ultimately results in a longer life. The tires/rims sold by etrailer always ship quickly and arrive on time. 705931

I ordered two Kenda 215/60-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" Galvanized Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range D. The site was easy to use, price was fair and shipping was fast. The tires look sturdy and have good grips which will prevent the trailer from sliding sideways. They will be used on a utility trailer. 705749

Ask the Experts about this Kenda Tires and Wheels

  • Speed Rating of Special Trailer Tires in Size ST215/60-8
With all of our trailer tires and wheel/tire items the speed rating is J (65-mph) unless we specifically call out a different rating in the specs. Comb # AM3H325 is actually rated up to 81-mph. In this 215/60-8 tire size and 5-on-4-1/2 wheel bolt pattern we offer several wheel/tire options, shown on the linked page.

  • Recommended Tires And Wheels To Replace 18.5/8.5-8 Tires On Triton Trailer
The tire size you can use as a replacement for your triton trailer is a 215/60-8. If you want just the tire, I recommend part # AM1HP28 which is a Load Range D tire. This 8-ply tire has a load capacity of 1,165 lbs at 70 psi. For a Load Range C tire only I recommend part # AM1HP26. This is a 6-ply tire and has a maximum load rating of 935 lbs at 50 psi. Both of these tires are bias-ply tires and will work on the rims you have for your tires. If you are looking for a wheel/tire...

The metric size equivalent of the 18.5 x 8.5 - 8 tire size on your snowmobile trailer is the ST215/60-8 size, such as # AM1HP28 which is a tire only and # AM3H325 which is this tire size mounted on a galvanized 8-inch wheel with a 5-on-4-1/2-inch bolt pattern. You may be able to use larger wheels/tires on your trailer so long as you can match up the bolt pattern on your hubs and so long as you have enough clearance in the wheel wells to fit a larger tire. • Can Larger Trailer Tire be Used to Reduce Risk of Blowout Failure
When the goal is reduction of tire heat stress so that chances of a blowout are reduced the best option is usually switching to a higher load range tire, rather than a larger size tire. That said, it is sometimes possible to do both at once. In your tire size 5.70-8 we have tires in three weight load ranges. The maximum capacities for each are: B: 715-lbs at 50-psi; C: 910-lbs at 75-psi; and D: 1,075-lbs at 100-psi. If you happen to now have Load Range B tires on the trailer you could...

  • What is the Backspacing of Trailer Tire and Wheel Combo AM3H325
The overall width of the wheel in tire and wheel combo # AM3H325 is 8 inches. The inner width where the tire sits is actually 7 inches. Since this wheel has a zero offset the backspacing is going to be 4 inches. The tire width is 8-7/8 inches overall making half of that 4.43 inches or 4-7/16. I made a video for you as well explaining these measurements.

  • Could a Smaller Wheel and Tire be Installed on a Trailer for Storage Height Clearance
A rim like the part # AM3H325 could potentially work for you if you don't have brake assemblies on your axles. This would be just as wide as your current setup but would be almost 9 inches shorter. This rim has the same bolt pattern as your current wheels as well and the weight capacity is 1,165 at 70 psi which is most likely much lower than you current setup so you would need to be aware of that as well.

  • Trailer Tire/Wheel Combo for a Karavan Snowmobile Trailer with 8 Inch Wheels and Hydraulic Brakes
There are currently no brake assemblies that are going to fit an 8 inch wheel because of the exact problem you have encountered: the hubs are too large to fit. • What Size Hub will Work with the 215/60-8 Trailer Tire with 8 Inch Galvanized Wheel Load Range D
The proper size hub for the 215/60-8 bias trailer tire and wheel, # AM3H325, is going to depend on the weight capacity of the trailer you are designing. This wheel and tire combination is capable of 1,165 lbs at 70 psi, so each axle in your design would need to be rated for 2,330 lbs or less. Most likely if this is the proper capacity for your design you will be using a 2,000 lb axle and the Trailer Hub Assembly, # 34822545BX, would be the proper choice if the spindle on the axle you...
