Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Video Transcript for Kenda Tires and Wheels - Tire with Wheel - AM32680 Review

Today we're going to be reviewing part number AM32680. This is the Carrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire with a fifteen inch white wheel. The bolt pattern's going to be six on five and half so that means that we're going to have six bolt holes, and the distance from the center of one to the center of the other, measuring straight across, is going to measure five and a half inches. The Kenda Carrier Special Trailer Radial Tire has a special trailer tire design so it's going to couple the strength of a bias tire with the durability and stability of a radial tire. It is created specifically for trailers and not intended for use on other vehicles. It's going to feature double steel belts and full nylon plys that combine for superior function and a long life.

It's also going to feature a computer generated tread design and premium rubber compound materials that are going to provide superior traction, whether you're in wet or dry conditions. It's going to feature an eight spoke wheel design by Dexstar. It's going to resist rust because it has an e-coat and white powder coat finish on it. The tire and wheel assembly meets Department of Transportation's specifications. Here on the valve stem it's constructed of a steel reinforced rubber, and it's going to be rated for up to a hundred PSI. Now the rim dimensions, it's going to measure fifteen inches in diameter by six inches in width.

Again, the bolt pattern's going to be six on five and a half. The wheel capacity is going to have a capacity of two thousand eight hundred and thirty pounds. It's going to use a wheel bolt size or lug size of half an inch. The pilot hole diameter right here, the pilot diameter, which is just the center hole, is going to be four point two-seven inches. Again, the tire size, ST225/75R15.

Section width, from edge to edge, is going to measure eight point nine inches. Then it's going to give us an outer diameter, from outside edge to outside edge, when fully inflated of twenty-eight point four inches. The capacity of the tire, it's going to have a load range E with a ten ply rating. It's going to have a maximum load of two thousand eight hundred and thirty pounds at eighty PSI. Now it does have all the indicators listed on the outer wall of the tire that way you can always use that as a quick reference guide if you ever need any of that information. That's going to do it for today's review of part number AM32680.

This is the Kenda Carrier Radial Trailer Tire with a fifteen inch white wheel. .

Great packaging, I liked how each wheel/tire was boxed. Needed 6 wheels and tires for a trailer I had purchased and these filled the bill nicely. Removed from the boxes and installed. No fooling around with getting wheels and tires separately. After a year of towing on these they have held up great with no issues. Thanks Etrailer! 705364

Just installed these last night and they appear to be great. Tires arrived 2 days early in great condition and exactly as described. Will update review if I encounter any issues during use. First purchase from etrailer.com and I am very impressed. 433949

Still happy with them for the price. One of the wheels is rusting out a little bit after just one winter, but overall, still happy.

Natalie answered my call for help, She asked me when do you need the tire and wheel? I replied "yesterday" ! She said OK! Then she said they would send it free shipping! I said lets do that! I placed this order on Monday morning, I received it on Wednesday late afternoon! THIS WEEK! These people are absolutely AMAZING! The day before I had a blowout on my portable emergency back-up generator. My tire and wheel was destroyed! I had it towed to my friends shop. I called my friends at Associated Power in Wilmington CA," Greg" recommended etrailer.com. I did, they saved my life! I highly recommend them and I am now they're newest good will ambassador. They are good, friendly down home good people. Thanks, Natalie !!!!!! 469972

I had 4 blow outs on by travel trailer 2 going to and 2 from Florida. Upgraded to Load Range E tires. Had to change hubs (10" 6 on 5/12 ) and new rims to get E Range but $ worth it. Had all 4 tires and hubs changed in no time. I talked to other RV trailer owners and everyone has issues with RV tires. Save the headache and blow outs on the side of the road and get a heavier tire. 489452

I was extremely happy with my purchases from etrailer.com. Having tires arrive mounted on rims right on my doorstep was by far the easiest way to keep fresh tires on our travel trailer and horse trailer. The tires were also better than the ones I had, and at a lower price. So it was a positive experience all around. 667675

I had been considering replacing my boat trailer tires for about a year due to the original bias ply tires cracking from their age. We were headed out on a six hour trip and I decided now was the time. The replacements were on sale which saved me about $60 from what I could find locally. Once they arrived, I took them to a tire shop to be balanced. They informed me that there was an issue; they appeared to be bent/out of round. I contacted etrailer and was informed that if the wheel was being balanced by the hub instead of the studs, it would most likely appear that way. By this time I didn’t have a choice but to use them because we were leaving the next day. Customer service noted my potential issue and said they’d replace them if there was an issue found after mounting them. I installed the rims on my trailer and they spun true on the hub. We went on our trip, six hours down and turned around and came back at the end of the week and I did not experience any issues. 665125

I had been searching the internet for a 6-nut 10-Ply trailer tire to match my existing White rimmed Kenda's. As far as shipping and availability the etrailer folks were spot on. The tire arrived via UPS in a box - No damage to box or tire. I checked the rim for 6-nut configuration and there were six (6) - Great. Thank you etrailer. The price was in-line with other sites for the Tire Only. I would order again from etrailer for my trailer tire needs. 663867

So far the tires have been great. Holding up without any issues. If they go another year without any problems they will have out lasted the garbage that came on the RV.

Great tire. Over 12k miles on them with an overweight 30ft toy hauler/trailer. Spend the extra money to get this load E tire if you don't want to change tires every 1k miles like I did with load D tires. This product comes in the box ready to go. I didn't even need to add any air pressure. Very conveniant and costs about the same as putting a tire on your old rim with mounting, balancing, and a new high pressure valve stem. Keep in mind that rims have there own weight rating. Yours may not be rated for load E if you are replacing load D tires. 454083

Order arrived very quickly. Placed on Friday, arrived on Tuesday from Mo to Pa. Items were packed well and arrived in good condition. Upon initial inspection all items appear of good quality. Ordered tires, brakes with backing plates, hubs ,seals and grease. Haven't installed any items yet, but I am sure I will have no issues. Free shipping is a plus. Additionally unlike other free shipping offers that are out on the back burner for a week, order was processed and shipped promptly. I have recommended etrailer to friends and would highly recommend them to anyone. 373539

This is the second time i bought these tires. The tires and rims are excellent. The first set where 5 star. This set would be that same rating except for the valve stems, which are now just regular rubber style that don't hold up under heavy use. Now I must break down the tire and install the bolt in steel stems like the first set bought in December 2016. With over 30 years on this trailer hauling wood, rock and heavy loads experience has taught me that no matter how good a valve stem looks it always blows on the highway. E trailer should specify only bolt in style steel stems on this heavy rated tire. 353620

Ask the Experts about this Kenda Tires and Wheels

Do you have a question about this Tires and Wheel?

  • Should Load Range D or E Kenda Tires be Used for a 5,200 lb Axle
  • If you are wanting to stick with Kenda tires with the ST225/75R15 size then you will need to go with the Load Range E # AM10303. You always want your tires to be rated for at least the same weight as your axles. The Load Range D # AM10256 has a weight rating of 2,540 lbs at 65 psi which means when using 2 of them your max weight is 5,080 lbs. The Load Range E has a weight rating of 2,830 lbs at 80 psi which means that 2 of them have the combined rating of 5,660 lbs making your 5,200 lb...

  • ST225/75R15 Load Range E Tire Mounted to Wheel with 6 on 5-1/2 inch Bolt Pattern
  • For a ST225/75R15 size tire that is Load Range E mounted to a wheel with a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern you would want the part # AM32680. These tires aren't machine balanced by the manufacturer lines up the heavy spot of the tire with the light side of the wheel so that it is as balanced as can be without adding weights. Trailer tires aren't usually balanced. The price for this wheel/tire is available at the link below.

  • Are Pre-Mounted Trailer Tire/Wheel Combination Products Dynamically Balanced Like Automobile Tires
  • The tire/wheel combination products that we offer come from the manufacturer already pre-mounted. The tire's low spot is matched to the rim's high spot when they are mounted together. This is not the same as an actual dynamic tire balancing as you would have done when you buy new tires for your automobile but it does provide enough balance for a trailer tire. So that means that the new tires would take up about an inch more of your fender wells. If you have clearance for that you should be just fine. Using the larger tire will move the tire one inch closer to the fender, so in my opinion going with a larger tire size wouldn't be a good idea unless raising the fender is possible. Also, keep in mind that going with a larger tire with a higher load rating won't...

  • Available ST225/75-15 Load Range E Special Trailer Tires and 6-on-5-1/2 Spoke Wheels
  • We do offer many Taskmaster tire sizes and load ranges and many of the most popular ones are also available pre-mounted on various popular wheel designs. In cases where the specific tire you want is not offered on the wheel you prefer you can always order the individual tire and the wheel of your preference and have them mounted together locally. For an ST225/75-15 tire in load range E with a 10-ply rating that is mounted on a 6-on-5-1/2 white spoke wheel you might consider the Westlake...

  • Disc Brakes, Tires, and Wheels for Timbren 5,200 Pound Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System
  • For 5,200 pound axles such as # ASR5200S04 I recommend disc brake kit # K2HR526D which will accept wheels as small as 15 inches. Only certain kits with certain bearing sizes will fit the spindles on the axle-less systems so 15 is as small as you can go. That means a 225/75-15 tire and wheel combo, see link. This size has an outer diameter of 28.4 inches. For a tire and wheel in this size that has a higher enough capacity for 5,200 pound axles I recommend # AM32680 rated for 2,830 pounds...

  • Can You Upgrade Load Capacity Rating On Same Size Tires?
  • It is okay to step up from load range D to load range E tires. The dimensions are the same just the sidewall ply rating is different. The load range D tires are rated 8 ply and the range E tires are rated 10 ply. Moving one size is not an issue. If you want to compare prices, we have both load range D tires like the Taskmaster Contender ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D # C22515D and the Kenda Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range E # AM10303. • What Capacity Tire is Needed for Tandem Axle Trailer that weighs 10,000 lbs
  • If your trailer tires are not rated for the total amount of weight your trailer is going to be towing you are asking for problems. The part # AM32680 that you referenced has a capacity of 2,830 lbs and would give you more than enough capacity. If you are interested in replacing your wheels and tires to something that will be rated high enough this would be the way to go.

  • Tire Recommendation for a 2008 Keystone 32' Travel Trailer
  • Both the Taskmaster Contender # AC225R6WSE and the Kenda Karrier # AM32680 are excellent options and I wouldn't have a problem recommending either tire/wheel combo. In comparison they are both very similar with the same Load Range E (2,830 lbs at 80 psi) and 81 mph weight and speed ratings. The Karrier has the been out much longer which is why it has over 1,000 customer reviews that give it nearly 5 stars across the board. Going this route you know that many people can't be wrong. • Replacement Tires and Wheels For Gulf Stream Seahawk 5th Wheel Trailer
  • I will be happy to get you the tires and wheels to replace the ones on your Gulf Stream Seahawk 5th wheel trailer. The Contender ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 16" Silver Mod Wheel # AC16R6SM will fit on a 16" wheel and very similar to the tire you have now. The maximum load of the tires are 3,520 lbs at 80 psi. The bolt pattern is 6 on 5-1/2. The section width is 9.25" and the outer diameter is 30.79". The 225-75-16 tires may be a passenger vehicle tire which is not made for...

  • Hub Rotor Recommendation that has 6 on 5-1/2 Bolt Pattern, for 12 inch Brake Assembly, 15 in Wheel
  • Dexter has determined that hubs like the # 8-201-9UC3-EZ that you referenced that are designed to fit 12x2 inch brake assemblies have too large of a diameter for a 15 inch wheel to fit over. However, I went out and test fit a 15 inch wheel with this hub and found that the two were compatible. Since you have a grease seal that has an inner diameter of 2-1/4 inches you most likely have a number 42 spindle. Which for a hub and rotor that would fit that spindle, has a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt...

  • Should I Upgrade the Tires on my Fifth Wheel Trailer to a Higher Load Range/Size
  • There is no way to use a tire designed to fit a 16 inch rim on a 15 inch rim. Your best option will be to determine the total weight of your trailer when it is loaded and ready to tow and then pick a wheel/tire combination that has enough capacity. The part # AM10303 is the same size as what you have in a Load Range E and it has a 2,830 lbs at 80 psi. If that has enough capacity for your trailer then that would be all that you need. If you need more capacity you will need to upgrade...

  • Available Tires for 14-1/2-Inch Rims
  • We offer two tires for 14-1/2-inch stud-piloted rims that you can see by clicking on the link provided. These are both bias ply type mobile home tires in size 8-14.5 that are intended for only one use. We do not offer this tire size in a Special Trailer (ST) type tire that is capable of long-term use. You can get special trailer tires on your trailer by using a different size wheel (with the same bolt pattern as your hubs) in either a 14-inch or 15-inch size. If you choose the larger...

  • How to Determine the Weight Capacity of a Triple Axle Trailer
  • Typically a 3" axle diameter would indicate that the weight capacity of the axle is 6K - 7.2K but that is not always in case. In some (rare) instances it could be a 3.5K axle which would make sense for your max capacity of 10.5K. If you think that your weight rating is under what it should be then you will need to look at all of your components to determine which one has the lowest rating. The component with the lowest rating will, naturally, be your limiting factor. This includes the...

  • Will Incorrect Tire Inflation Pressure Affect Handling from Grand Design Reflection 28BH 5th Wheel
  • If you were running your new special trailer tires a full 30-psi below their rated (and required) 110-psi inflation pressure then that is probably the cause for the degraded handling from your Grand Design Reflection trailer. Special trailer tires, the ST-type, must ALWAYS be inflated to their maximum COLD psi pressure as noted on the tire sidewall. It is never appropriate to under- or over-inflate a trailer tire for any reason; there is no benefit to doing so and this can cause loss...

  • What is Offset for Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Tire 15" White Spoke Wheel 6 on 5-1/2" Load Range E
  • The wheel in tire and wheel combo # AM32680 has a zero offset meaning that the mounting service is at the center of the wheel. You are correct; if we do not list an offset then the offset is zero.

  • Will Wheel and Tire Combo part # AM32680 Work Well on 2010 Keystone Cougar 276RLS
  • If your current tire size has the capacity needed for your towing setup there really isn't a need to go with a Load Range above it. If you are experiencing wear issues most likely that has to do with the inflation of the tires. Are they inflated to the max psi listed on the sidewall? They have to kept at this pressure at all times otherwise you lose capacity and have wear issues. That being said, if you have a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern the part # AM32680 would work great on your trailer.

  • Origin for Kenda Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Tire with 15-Inch White Spoke Wheel # AM32680
  • The vast majority of trailer tires and wheels are made offshore in China. This is also true for the Kenda Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Tire with 15-Inch White Spoke Wheel # AM32680 that you referenced. The factories that produce these products have to adhere to the same Department of Transportation (DOT) standards and specifications as do domestic factories so the tires produced here and there will be virtually identical.
