Product Expert Mary E's Opinion

Why would I buy this?

  • Radial tire is great for towing long distances on the highway
  • Can withstand heavier loads than most other similarly sized assemblies

Why wouldn't I buy this?

  • Doesn't provide traction as well as other assemblies
  • Finish on wheel doesn't hold up as well as aluminum or galvanized
  • No roadside assistance

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

This load star tire and wheel is an exact replacement for another that was performing very well on our boat trailer until something on the road put a hole in it. The whole assembly with free shipping was cheaper than just a tire and mounting. Makes for an easy decision and no reason to think this one won't be just as good as the one it replaces. 653340

I ma again please with the entire purchase process. I placed the order on Saturday afternoon and received an email later in the day explaining they didn't have stock for the specific wheel/tires I had ordered. On Sunday I got a second email from a CS rep asking what I would like to do and provided her direct telephone number. Monday morning we talked and I choose a tire/wheel that would work for me, placed that order and was assured it would ship Monday and should have them Wednesday, which would be great since I was planning to tow the boat that weekend. They arrived as predicted, installed them and had a trouble-free weekend. I plan to keep the old, cracked-sidewall tires to store for the winter and keep the new tires for summer use. I learned another lesson- protect trailer tires from sun damage while storing, cover that tire. Thanks again etrailer- I'll be back. 265264

The 3 tires came well packaged. I took them to a Firestone store for balancing and one didn't require any weight. I up-sized from 13" wheels to these 14" wheels and they fit well on my camper. One of the reasons I bought these from etrailer was the customer service I had received in the past. 479941

Bought this combo to replace/upgrade my second blowout on an original equipment Load Range C tire for my travel trailer. Identical to my first replacement bought from a competitor, but about $38 cheaper from etrailer. The former replacement has made it for about 1,500 miles with no problems, and this one took me the 110 miles to the shop to have the fairly extensive damage from the latter blowout repaired. I'm cautiously optimistic, but a little gun-shy on trailer tires in general. From now on I'll automatically upgrade to Load Range D when I buy a trailer. 350824

Comments
Unfortunately, repair of the damage from my blowout took most of the camping season and $6,000. Therefore, I have not been able to put very many miles on the upgraded tires. Based on advise from my local tire shop, I used spray-on tire dressing designed to block uv, and everything looks good, though. Looking forward to using it much more this spring. Still have a high opinion of etrailer.

I ordered 5 each Kenda Karrier ST205/75R14, load range D, rim mounted tires. I received via UPS, 5 each Loadstar Karrier ST205/75R14 105/101M, load range D tires, well packed in a timely manner in good condition. DOT manufacture codes were from the first half of 2016. I hope that helps folks that wondered about the complete tire code. I don't understand why everybody is so stingy about publishing the complete tire code when it does in fact provide the MOST valuable comparison information. I mounted the tire/rims to my 5 on 4 1/2 hubs, torqued the nuts to specs, and drove about 20 miles round trip to a truck scale to weigh my rig. Happly, with a partial load, I was 1200 lbs under my max load. The trailer pulled good and at this point I've very happy with the purchase, considering 14 inch, load range D tires are hard to come by. My trailer is 10 years old, and it has seen about 4K miles of travel each year. The last few of years, I've had several blow outs, initially on a 4 year old set of load range C radials which I replaced in November of 2015 with a set of load range C bias ply tires. On my third 1000 (500 miles one way) mile run this spring, I had two blowouts, one coming and one going, on the passenger side. Inspection of the passenger side wheel well indicated there had been some rubbing. From day one the clearance between the top of the tire and the wheel well has be close, around 2 inches. As a disclaimer, I've not been the best at keeping my speed down, made some modifications to the trailer that have added about 350 lbs to the base weight, and my wife loads heavy for our dry camping excursions. These factors have probably contributed to my blowouts. After the last blow out, I decided to take some more aggressive action: I upgraded the suspension with heavy duty springs, upgraded the tires to these LRD Karriers, have taken the decision to actively manage a light cargo pack, and when not rolling I'm taking most of the weight off the tires. Hopefully, all my actions, and Importantly, the significant upgrade to load range D tires will solve my problems. 412596

Put about 3000 miles on the tires this spring and early summer. They are wearing well, no problems. Delighted.

This tire/wheel combo is just what I needed. It'll be going on a 20 year old cargo trailer that was just sitting outside all of that time and never towed! My first loaded tow will be a 2,500 mile one-way adventure, one not to do without a spare tire. 721782

Upgraded our 25-foot travel trailer from 13" wheels to 14" wheels. These were a better and more economical option than available locally. So far, towing experience has greatly improved, especially on the interstate. With previous tires, max speed was around 60 mph. These tires allow us to travel at 70 mph with no issue. This purchase was another great experience with Etrailer. Hurricane delayed shipment from the supplier and Etrailer was great about keeping me updated on the shipping status, as well as informing me of other tire/wheel packages that were in stock and could ship faster. 713758

Wanted the security of having a spare for our camper. Fits perfect on our 2019 Grey Wolf Limited. Fast shipping had our spare here in time for the trip! Great packaging! 713236

- AM32161
by:

This is a spare tire, so it's not like I'm putting it into service immediately, which means I can't say how it works. It arrived in good condition, and I believe it will be a good spare for my 2018 Coleman Lantern 215BH. The only downfall is that I bought this in September 2019, and the date code on the DOT number of the tire decodes to the 26th week of 2017, so the tire was over 1 year old already, but that's probably typical for this type of item. Assuming it's been inside a warehouse the whole time, I don't expect the age to cause any problems. As expected, etrailer came through with great customer service and fast shipping. 712032

Took a few extra days to get here but I mounted them and I'm very pleased. Will take the trailer out tomorrow and see how it runs down the road. I'd buy again based on my experience 704577

  • Recommended Tires for a 2005 Fleetwood Bayside Pop Up Camper
In order to meet the full gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of your 2005 Fleetwood Bayside Pop Up Camper you would need to upgrade to a larger tire size. For this, I recommend the Karrier ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 14" White Wheel part # AM32161 which has a load range that is sufficient for use up to 4,080 lbs (pair). This tire will also be 1.4" larger in diameter and .8" larger in width than the tire you have now so you will need to make sure you have room for this new size. You...

The Karrier ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 14" White Wheel # AM32161 is not machine balanced - nor are any trailer tire and wheel combos. That said, it will be ready to install when you receive it. What happens is the manufacturers line up the light spot on the tire with the heavy spot on the wheel, which is a type of balancing, although it is not the same as what happens with the tire on a passenger car. While you can have the Karrier # AM32161 professionally balanced if you...

  • Do Trailer Tire/Wheel Combinations Come Already Balanced
The supplier does not balance the tire/wheel combination like part # AM32161, but when the tire is installed on the wheel they will line the high (heavy) spot on the tire with the low (light) spot on the wheel. This does not fully balance the tire and wheel combination but it does eliminate any excessive out of balance condition. I recommend having the tire and wheel combination balanced at a local tire shop. That will help the tire wear evenly and also reduce noise and vibration on...
