Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I was happy to find this extremely hard to find product here at etrailer. The tires arrived on time and in great shape, and for a reasonable price. NOTE: the tires do not arrive pre-balanced. I did not understand this and it caused an issue because I had a road trip planned for my trailer and ended up doing an emergency tire balancing at the local tire center. It would be helpful for the product description to highlight this fact. For that I'm giving a 4-star rating instead of 5. 717191

As a first time owner of a pop up camper I wasn't sure as to which tire and wheel combo was best suited for my needs. Customer service was excellent all my questions where answered in a professional and knowledgeable manner. The tire and wheels arrived on time. I will do business with them again. 669257

No surprises with the order, have not had the chance to use the new tires and rims but everything fit fine. One thing noticed is who ever mounted the tires on the painted rim managed to chip some of the paint on the edge so I already know that rust is going to appear sooner than later, after all they are on a boat trailer. The product itself seems great. 663502

Purchased 4 tires (Kenda 5.30 x 12- Load Range D). They arrived in two days which was great. The only issue I had were about 3-4 scratches (about 1-2" long) on the backside of all four rims. Not sure of the cause. I called etrailer and informed them of the situation. They called the manufacturer who had no idea what may have been the cause. To etrailers credit, they gave me a $10 credit and suggested I purchase a can of Rustoleum and spray this on the area to prevent rust from forming 572777

My first trip was to western Wyoming last year and the tires worked great. I bought the D rated tires for the higher speed ratting. I ran them from eastern Minnesota to western Wyoming at speeds of 70 plus and had no issues. We drove straight though so the.Tires cooled only long enough to refuel. Leaving in a week for the same trip. I would buy these tires again in a moments notice. 564306

As I was prepping my trailer for the season, I realized that I had bought the pair of these currently on my trailer from etrailer 6 years ago! They have served flawlessly since then, much better than the lower load range tires available locally, but it's time to replace them. Of course I just reordered two more of the same. Great products, great price, great service, great instructional videos - why would I buy anything else from anyone else? 510751

We bought a pair of these tires/wheels a year ago and put them on our Teardrop camper trailer. We later traveled Route 66 from Missouri to the California border, through Death Valley with temps near 120 degrees and from there North through the remainder of California, Oregon and Washington. We then headed East through Montana, the Dakotas and a corner of Minnesota before returning to Iowa. The tires performed flawlessly, All in all we put a little over 8,000 miles on them. Would definitely recommend them to anyone. 499606

I received these tires in a timely fashion. I have not had the opportunity to put them on my trailer yet but I feel that they will be a great tire. The rating was just what I needed to see as I will be hauling my Indian full-dressed motorcycle on this trailer at times. I didn't want to trust the old tires that came on the trailer. Great price and fast shipping! Etrailer.com is a great place to do business. 490030

Perfect! After searching around town for a few days and failing to find a "5.30 x 12 load range D" spare tire and rim locally, I searched online and found an exact match at etrailer.com for my boat trailer. The online instructions for determining the proper hole pattern and diameter were spot on. After placing my order the wheel was promptly shipped and delivered in a couple of days. I couldn't be more pleased with my experience with this retailer. 439022

Wheel construction was marginal. Inside of rim had considerable lateral run out. While I realize it is only a trailer wheel, having been in the business for 45 years, I have seen lots of trailer tires beat to death from wobbling and out of balance condition. 211351

Fit just like the old ones in every way. These have the good metal valve steams that seem to last longer for me then the rubber cased ones. Etrailer has the best price I could find, and load range D that I could not find local. These also came in a box (well 2 boxes, 2 units per box) which I was somewhat surprised on, I have ordered wheels and tires before from other vendors and they were just tied together with cardboard on the wheel, it was nice to see these actually in a box. Will come back to etrailer when I need to replace these again, its somewhat of an odd ball size as well so I was glad to find them somewhere in stock. 191118

Do you have a question about this Tires and Wheel?

  • Modern Tire Size Replacement for 6.9 - 9 Size
  • The closest standard trailer tire size to 22 inches overall is the 5.30-12 which has an overall diameter of 21.9 inches. This tire size there are only bias ply tires available like the part # AM30780 for if you have a 4 on 4 inch bolt patter or the # AM30859 if you have a 5 on 4-1/2 inch hitch. A radial tire flexes more than a bias tire, giving it better ground contact, traction, stability, and tread wear. A radial tire will normally run cooler than a bias ply tire, especially...

You'll want to choose a tire whose load rating for two tires exceeds the fully loaded weight of your pop-up (including propane and water). We offer a 5.30-12 wheel/tire...

These are rated at 8 ply, have a load range of D, and a maximum load capacity of 1250 at 105 psi. If you are looking for complete tire and wheel combinations, I recommend the Kenda 5.30-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" White Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range D, # AM30859. • We do not have a load range D tire, like the one on # AM30859, on a 4 on 4 white wheel. But what we do have is # AM30780. This is a 5.30-12 tire on a 4 on 4 white wheel and a load range C tire. The tire is rated for 1,045 pounds at 80 psi. A tire blowout can be caused by not inflating the tire to the correct psi. If your current tires are also rated for 80 psi, then that would be correct. • You should always try to inflate a trailer tire to the maximum psi as indicated on the tire. But a difference of just 5 psi is not going to cause any trouble. The issue is that trailer tires are designed with a thicker sidewall than passenger vehicle tires. When under inflated they generate excessive heat and can fail. But this is not an issue at 5 psi under what it is supposed to be. I have included a link to a helpful article on trailer tires for you.

  • Recommended Trailer Tire for a 4x8 Foot Utility Trailer with a Maximum Weight Rating of 1,180 Pounds
  • Your trailer should have a placard or sticker on it that will provide the recommended tire size. If it states 4.80/4.00-8 then I recommend Kenda # AM10002 and its maximum load is 590 pounds at 60 psi. Based on your 4x8 utility trailer that has a maximum weight rating of 1,180 pounds you will be just fine hauling your 800 pound motorcycle. Adding bigger tires won't increase the amount of weight you can carry. The overall capacity of this tire-and-wheel assembly is limited to the lowest...

  • Black Trailer Wheel and Tire Recommendation to Replace 5.30-12 Tires and Wheels
  • Sounds like you are looking for a wheel and tire combination that has a 5.30-12 radial tire mounted on it. The # AM35354 has a ST145/R12 tire on it so while it would be a great choice for a trailer tire, it would not be exactly what you said you wanted. For a wheel and tire that has a 5.30-12 you would want the # AM30859 instead. Now the # AM35354 that you referenced is a very similar size and is a radial tire so it would be a better setup for you. I attached a picture of what it...

  • 5.30-12 Trailer Wheel and Tire Recommendation for 2,000 lb Boat Trailer
  • Going with a higher rated tire capacity than needed doesn't really gain you anything, but since you would be right near the capacity of a Load Range C I would go ahead and go with a Load Range D. Which for that we have two options and they are both Kenda. For a silver wheel (what I would go with) we have the part # AM30861 and for white wheel you would want the part # AM30859.

  • Difference Between Tire Sizes 4.80-12 and 5.30-12
  • A 5.30-12 is a larger version of your 4.80-12. They fit the same wheel size though of 12 inch diameter by 4 inch wide. The 5.30 is 1.5 inches wider and .4 inches taller. The part # AM30859 that you referenced is a 5.30-12.

  • Recommended 5.30-12 Bias Trailer Tire
  • In the galvanizing process, depending on how the manufacturer dries the wheels some of it can run to one side making the wheel out of balance. That is an issue you are going to run into with many wheel manufacturers. As long as you are not using your trailer wheels for saltwater applications, I recommend going with a white powdered coat steel wheel and tire combo like # AM30859. With this wheel you still get excellent rust resistance, style, and none of the issues associated with galvanized...

  • Availability of Replacement 2.80-12 Tires for 2007 Fleetwood Yuma Camper
  • Are you sure your seller is correct about the tire size? We don't carry a 5.8-12 tire size, so I looked online in order to cross reference to a modern tire size and wasn't able to find any information about a 5.8-12 tire. If the sidewalls of the existing tires are scuffed or weathered, it would be VERY easy to misread the tire size. I suspect the trailer actually has a 5.30-12 tire size, which we do indeed carry. If you click the provided link, you can see the tire only and wheel/tire...

  • Pontoon Boat trailer Tires to Replace 25x8x10 Tires
  • The 25x8x10 is an older size designation that you don't really see much anymore. The closest match is going to be a 205/65-10. This size is going to be 20.5 inches tall (outer diameter) and have a section width of 8.4 inches. They fit o n6 inch wheels. Wheel width is measured where the tire sits, not overall width. We have the 205/65-10 in the following load ranges: Load range B, rated for 910 pounds at 35 psi, # AM1HP50 Load range C, rated for 1,100 pounds at 50 psi, # AM1HP52 Load...

  • What is the Load Carrying Capacity of a Load Range D 5.30-12 Trailer Tire
  • On a single axle using 2 of the Kenda 5.30-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12 Inch White Wheels, # AM30859, the combined weight carrying capacity of the tires would be 2,500 pounds. You would need to add in the weight of the boat, trailer, and anything on them for the gross trailer weight. If it is under 2,500 pounds, then these tires and wheels have enough capacity. You will need to make sure that you inflate the tires to the max psi listed on the tires (105 psi for these tires) in order to...

  • Can You Use a Wheel with a Larger Pilot Hole Diameter on a Trailer
  • Most trailer wheels are lug centric and not hub centric meaning that the wheels are centered on the hub with the lug nuts not the pilot hole. This in turn means that the pilot hole of your wheels does not need to match the pilot hole of your hub. However, the pilot hole on the wheels must exceed the pilot hole on the hub. Therefore, you will have no problems using a wheel with a 2.95" or 3.19" pilot hole on your trailer as long as they are lug centric. If you are wanting to upgrade...

  • Replacement Wheels/Tires for a 2005 Fleetwood Tucson Pop-Up Camper
  • It sounds like you may be looking for a new wheel/tire combo for your 2005 Fleetwood Tucson Pop-Up Camper. If this is the case then according to my research, your trailer could have came with either 5.30 x 12 or 175/80-13 tires. For a 5.30 x 12 option I recommend the Kenda 5.30-12 Bias Trailer Tire part # AM30859 and for a 175/80-13 option I recommend the Loadstar ST175/80D13 Bias Trailer Tire with 13" White Wheel part # AM3S140. Please note these options are both for a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt...

  • Rim and Tire Recommendation to Replace a 215/60-8 That is Too Wide on a 2k Capacity Trailer
  • A 4.80-8 trailer tire size is going to have a max capacity of 760 lbs when inflated to 90 psi per tire. So not only would it not have enough capacity it would be too skinny to fit the wider rim you have for your 215/60-8 tires. Another option you have that would provide you with a skinnier tire that would also be 3 inches taller would be to go with a 5.30-12 rim and tire like the part # AM30859. This rim has a 5 on 4 inch bolt pattern. If you have a 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern you would...
