Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

etrailer gets both thumbs up. They carried the high load range tires I could not find locally, priced right, and delivered promptly. I received the entire order correctly and on time. Thanks to their free shipping offer, I was also able to add a trailer light which pushed my order across the threshold for free shipping making it, in essence, a freebie. I'll definitely go to etrailer first next time. 379816

I put these on my trailer as soon as I got them. taking a trip soon. I've been buying my 3-rail trailer tires from other MAJOR retail stores, paying no attention to load ratings. shopping online opened my eyes to this, I've been buying B rated, these are D rated, for about $10 more each, shipped to my door.Well worth it, just to avoid the hassles of finding the right size & quantity needed. I've been experiencing poor performance(blowouts) & short lifespan, now I realize why. I doubt I'll go anywhere else if these last 3 years or more(about 2,400 miles).Watch the pressure on small tires. If it's low, they get hot & explode(trust me). Other info on website was helpful & not found on other websites I saw.Processing & standard shipping was VERY fast. Friday late night to wed. afternoon to central Ohio. Will gladly buy here again. Thanks Etrailer !! I'm a happy Camper. 149258

I have been using these tires for about five years on a 20 KW generator. We modified the frame to attach to our event trailer as a Tote . We use a double swivel wheel to support the generator. The generator weighs about 1600 pounds of these tires have held up very good. I change them about once a year as the cost is minimal. I am very satisfied with this product. And etrailer is one of my very best suppliers 692682

Ask the Experts about this Kenda Tires and Wheels

  • Recommended 5.70-8 Tire and Wheel with Compatible Hub for Axle
We do have some options for you to add a 5.7-8 size tire and a hub to your trailer. For a wheel/tire combination I recommend going with the Kenda 5.70-8 Bias Trailer Tire with Wheel # AM30155. This has a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern and comes with a load range of D (1,075 lbs at 100 psi). Since 8" wheels are typically installed on 2,000 lb axles you would need the hub assembly # AKIHUB-545-2-EZ-1K if you have L44643 bearings or assembly # AKIHUB-545-2-EZ-2K for L44649 bearings. Both options...

  • Do Trailer Tire Sizes 5.70-8 and 18.5 x 8.5 - 8 use Same Wheel Width
The rim width requirements between the two sizes you mentioned are different enough that either size would not fit the same rim. The 5.70-8 fits 3-3/4 inch wide rims and the 18.5 x 8.5 - 8 requires a 7 inch wide wheel. If you want to go with a 5.70-8 size you'll need to replace the wheel with it too like with the # AM30155 which has a white wheel.

  • Recommended 8-Inch Tire/Wheel Combo For 1997 Cushman Titan
I did some research and it looks like your 1997 Cushman Titan uses 5.70 x 8 tires. The tire/wheel combo I recommend is the Kenda part # AM30155. This combo is a Load Range D mounted on an 8-inch diameter rim with a 5 on 4-1/2 wheel bolt pattern. This maximum load rating for this combo is 1,075 lbs at 100 psi. The center pilot hole on the wheel measures 2.8 inches.

  • Downsizing Trailer Wheel and Tire Combination to Lower Personal Water Craft (PWC) Trailer Height
The 5.70-8 could be a viable replacement size for your PWC, but I also have another solution that may work to make loading and unloading easier. The benefits of downsizing your tire and wheels are mainly the height loading aspect. With your current setup you have an outer diameter of 20.5 and the down sized tire is 18.1 inches. You may also see some ride stability because the center of gravity will be lower so you may get less sway when towing. Some drawbacks of downsizing your tires...

  • Recommended Tire Pressure for Kenda 5.70-8 Trailer Tire with White Wheel
With trailer tires you have to keep them inflated to the max PSI that's listed on the tire at all times to ensure you get the full weight capacity and you prevent heat build up from causing failure of the tires. For the part # AM30155 you need to keep 100 psi in them at all times.

  • Do the Kenda 5.70-8 Bias Trailer Tries with 8 Inch White Wheel Have a Speed Rating
Due to the size of these tires, they aren't given an official speed rating. Typically tires 13 inches and larger are given speed ratings. I spoke with my contact at Kenda and she said that the # AM30155 tire and wheel is tested for speeds up to 62 miles per hour. There is not a speed rating stamped on these tires.

  • What Is The Purpose of the 3 Places A Wheel Steps Down From Outside Edge to Inside?
On the Steel Trailer Wheel # AM20006, I assume the 3 dimples you are referring to are the 3 places the wheel steps down in size. The outside largest diameter point is where the wheel is outside of the tire for a little protection of the sealing bead. The second step is where the tire bead rests and seals against the wheel to allow the air to stay pressurized without having an inner tube. The third step is down to the mounting flange to give strength and stability. Each tire will...

  • Can 5.70-8 Trailer Tire Replace 4.80-8
Yes, a 5.70-8 tire will fit the same rim that a 4.80-8 tire fit. They both are designed to fit 8 inch diameter rims that are 3-3/4 inches wide. The larger tire will end up being 2 inches taller overall so you would end up with 1 inch less of fender clearance vertically. For a tire in this size that would work well you would want the part # AM30155. This is a Load Range D tire with a 1,075 lb capacity at 100 psi.

  • Trailer Rim and Tire Recommendation for 5 Lug Wheel with 5.70-8 Tire Installed
The wheel and tires we offer in the size you need have a much smaller pilot diameter. That may not be an issue though. Does your wheel attach to the hub with lug nuts or bolts? If nuts and your hub is smaller than 2.8 inches the part # AM30155 would fit and work well.

  • How Fast Can Trailer Tire in Size 5.70-8 Go
Normally tire speed ratings are listed right after the tire size as a letter. For example the letter M represents and 81 mph speed rating. If you can't find a speed rating after the tire size the safe assumption will be that the tire is limited to 65 mph which used to be the standard speed for trailer tires. I tried to find the speed rating of the Hi Run 5.70-8 that you have and only could find the listing "applicable for high speed driving" but not an actual rating. So based on our...

  • Weight Ratings of Trailer Tires in Size 5.70-8
Any given tire size can come in various weight load ranges, and sometimes a specific tire size may be offered in different speed ratings too. In the size 5.70-8 we have tires and wheel/tire items in Load Ranges B, C and D, which mean per-tire weight ratings of 715-lbs, 910-lbs and 1075-lbs respectively. On the linked page you can see all such products. Note that the wheel/tire items are offered in a choice of two wheel bolt patterns, 4-on-4 and 5-on-4-1/2. For example, part # AM30155...

  • Can Smaller Wheels and Tires be Installed on a Jet Ski Trailer to Lower It
The backspacing is not really the issue, it is the tire width on your current versus new tires. Most trailer tires have a zero offset meaning the mounting surface of the wheel is in the center of the wheel so the tire width becomes important. A 175/80-13 tire that you currently have is about 6.9 inches wide and 24.1 inches tall. A 205/65-10 like # AM3H390, is 8.3 inches wide and 20.5 inches tall. Regarding tires, this is a huge difference in width and you would have to measure the distance...

  • Bearing, Wheel and Tire, and Fender Recommendation for a 1991 Load Rite Lil Rider Trailer
In order to determine which replacement bearings you would need to replace your current parts, you will need to either get the numbers that are stamped on your bearings, or you will need to get some precise measurements from your spindle. The measurements you need will be where the seal and bearings ride. Check out the picture I attached to see which measurements are needed.
