Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I ordered and promptly received two of the wheel and tire assemblies. They were immediately used to replace the two on my 4 X 8 utility trailer that I have used and abused for 25 or 30 years. The original tires were nylon as well. One had developed a long split or crack in the sidewall. I use this trailer on the property, on and over the road and the like. I bought the tire and wheel assemblies as I did not want to fight installation of new tires on the old rims nor want to pay to have someone install them. The two tires and wheels received and immediately installed are excellent in quality/appearance in my opinion. The etrailer site is very good, service excellent. 637924

Great price and extremely fast shipping. This is the second time I've ordered from them with the same results. Last order was for a set of D rated trailer tires that I drove 1600 miles from Florida to Maine with no issues. Great, hard to find products at excellent prices with fast shipment. Can't beat them! 412455

The Kenda 5.7-8 load Range D tires and wheels are great for my motorcycle hauler. The larger profile tires were a great upgrade from the original 4.8-8 and improved trailering at highway speeds. The folks at etrailer we’re extremely helpful and responsive in answering all my questions. 446450

Thank you for contacting me in a timely manner. I am quite happy with delivery time and to have already been contacted by you. The product looks good, but I will have to get back with another review after I have had time to mount them to may trailer and try them out. Just haven't had time yet. 522226

Just received my order of trailer tires. Upon inspection they look great. They are real tires, instead of appearing like a piece of plastic like small tires of this type sometimes are. The service was great, width next day shipping, and the shipper performed to expectations also. 223333

With a move to another city coming soon we decided to freshen up the trailer with new axle bearings and tires. Expecting to load the trailer to the maximum these 8 ply "D" rated tires were chosen. With no mileage yet ... the first impression is good as far as roundness and appearance is concerned. Although ... Both tires were notably out of balance and required about 2oz of weights. 468002

Comments

The manufacturer of the tire and wheel combos matches the heavy side of a tire with the light side of a wheel to sort of balance them. Trailer tires do not have to be dynamically balanced like passenger car tires do since a trailer tires primary duty is supporting a vertical load. Steering and cornering concerns apply less to trailer tires. Most shops will tell you need to balance the tires if you are putting a trailer tire on your own wheel but most people do not even feel a difference in the ride between balanced and unbalanced trailer tires. I hope this helps with your quality concern.

Excellent service. I ordered on a Saturday and received an email that day saying that the order was received. This was followed by more emails stating when tires would be shipped and another email the day they arrived saying that they received a delivery notification from UPS. Tires were as advertised and the price was right. I do not expect to have any problems with the tires but I feel that etrailer will make it right if I do. 7800

The tires are exactly as advertised. The order processing was exceptional. I placed the order late on Friday of a holiday weekend, received immediate confirmation of the order, and on Saturday received an email notice that the order had been processed and was ready for pickup. I couldn't ask for better service and would be comfortable recommending etrailer to anyone and everyone. 42329

First, many thanks to George J for keeping me constantly updated with my order. This is my second order with Etrailer. Both orders were filled and shipped in a timely manner, and I was updated from start to delivery. I am impressed with the company and it's staff. As for the products, they were exactly what I wanted, and expected. I have looked at other sites before, but Etrailer has great descriptions, and true pictures of the products they carry. This takes the guesswork out of locating the items I wanted. Also what I have in mind for the future as well. I highly recommend Etrailer to anyone looking for parts, supplies, or trailers. as Arnold would say, "I'll be back" Michael M, Arlington Tx 328849

Nothing bad to say about this company or product. Web site was easy to navigate. Found exactly what I needed and at a better price than any local stores were offering. Ordered 2 trailer tires on 4/15 and received them on 4/17 free standard shipping. They were packaged neatly and arrived in great condition ready to mount. I found this to be easier than going to the store and having to wait for several hours and paying more money. Thank you for the extremely fast service and quality product, I will use this company again when it comes time to replace trailer tires in the future. 629730

I was leery when I bought the tires that they would make the trip: hauling my boat from Fort Worth to Eastern Ontario, Canada, and back on a twin axle trailer. I bought two spares and took two old mounted tires just in case. Never needed the spares. The tires performed flawlessly. 3,500 miles round trip. The last 1,000+ in the rain. Both trips were direct with stops only for fuel. 26 hours of driving each way. The fact that I had no tire failure speaks to their quality. And the service and delivery was prompt and professional. I cannot think of a reason why I would go anywhere else the next time I buy tires for one of my trailers. 583412

Product was as ordered. Only place I could find this size tire with a D rating like what was spec'd on the trailer. Needed tires for a trip I was about to take so I ordered them Sunday morning with 3rd day delivery. Received notice Sunday afternoon that the order had shipped. Received the tires Wednesday morning, 2 days. Packaging was great for a pair of tires. Heavy card board box with handles built into the box and extra dunnage inside to make sure the tires didn't shift. Overall good price, great service and delivery. 569341

No muss, no fuss. Just pulled them out of the box, installed them and forgot about them. Still there, still behaving themselves. What more do you want? Thanks! (The trailer was built by my dad by hand more than 20 years ago. A coat of paint, a new set of socks and BAM!) 412376

Ask the Experts about this Kenda Tires and Wheels

Do you have a question about this Tires and Wheel?

  • Needing a Trailer Tire That Can Handle a Long Trip at 60 to 65 MPH
  • The Kenda 8 inch Tire and Wheel, # AM30153, that you referenced can travel at max speed of 65 mph. This wheel and tire has a 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern and can carry its maximum load of 1,075 lbs at 100 psi. The tire has a bias construction and an 8 ply rating. If your trailer and boat fall under these weight capacities and the bolt pattern is the same, then this wheel and tire will work for your trip with your jon boat. If you have the clearance on your trailer, I recommend upgrading...

  • On the Kenda 5.70-8 Tire and Wheel Combo, # AM30153, Kenda uses a load range D tire because the 8-ply load range D tires have a stronger construction than 6-ply load range C tire. Even though there is a higher rated tire on the wheel, the maximum weight capacity is still only 910 lbs. You will just get a stronger tire with this combination that will last longer than a load range C tire.
