Video Transcript for Kenda Tires and Wheels - Tire Only - AM10423 Review

Today we will be reviewing part number AM10423. This is the Kenda light truck tire K391M with a load range of E. This can also be used as a trailer tire because of the designation of the LT after the tire size. If the LT was before the tire size then it would be limited to just light truck use. Again, this is going to offer us a load range of E. The tire size is 7.50-16LT.

Its going to give us a section width from outer wall to outer wall of 8.4 inches and overall diameter from outer edge to outer edge when fully inflated of 31.8 inches. Its going to offer a capacity of 2,926 pounds at 75 PSI and its designed to fit 16 inch by 6 inch rims. You can see here with the unique tread design that its going to perform well at high speeds as well as offer supreme traction in wet or dry conditions. Then we have all the indicators listed here on the outer wall of the tire. You can always use that as a quick reference guide if you ever need any of that information. That's going to do it for todays review of part number AM10423. This is the Kenda light truck tire, K391M.

I wanted a tire that was roadable but also looked vintage for my 1968 Ford F250 CamperSpecial with split rims. These fit the bill perfectly. 173243

Tires arrived on time and appear to be in excellent condition. I have not yet mounted them on rim but expect no problems. 159255

It is very important when you have a trailer broken down that you can get parts and get them quick! Etrailer did just that for me. When that asked for my zip code to estimate delivery time I was very doubtful when it said the next day, but they are “No Joke” because it did! How awesome is that for customer service? I will buy again from Etrailer.com 637898

- AM10423

Only one tire has been mounted to date. It is a little out of round and that is the reason for the 4 star rating. It will be no problem on my 1966 chevy pickup as I never drive it over 55 or 60. Tires arrived quickly at a fair price. 608561

My last set of bias tires lasted 40 years so my expectations are pretty high when I found these. Couldn’t be happier from the quick delivery to my powder coating shop to the excellent quality of the product. Great tires, highly recommend. 605636

Ask the Experts about this Kenda Tires and Wheels

  • Can Different Load Range Tires be Used on Tandem Axle Trailer
Most likely the PSI difference between your axles is that you have a higher Load Range tire on the front axle now than what you have on the rear axle. Ideally you are running the same Load Range on all wheels of your trailer but in your situation you should be fine. Just be sure you run the max PSI for all tires listed on them at all times and you'll be good.

  • Can Inner Tubes be Used with Kenda Light Truck Tire K391M # AM10423
The Kenda Light Truck Tire K391M # AM10423 referenced in your question is not designed to be used with inner tubes. This is the case for all the tires we currently carry. Because the tire is designed to be used as a tubeless unit, attempting to use an inner tube may cause excessive heat built-up in the tire which can then lead to premature failure. This 7.50-16 LT tire will fit 16 inch x 6 inch wheels and it features a maximum load of 2,926 pounds at 75 psi. I have attached a short...

  • Can LT Rated Tires be Used on a Trailer
LT tires can be used on trailers. At one point we were strongly recommending people go with ST rated tires since they are designed specifically for trailer use, but LT tires have proven to work just fine so we now recommend them. I am glad you have had good luck with yours. For a 16 inch LT trailer tire we offer the # AM10423 which is sized 7.50-16 LT.

  • Can Different Load Range Trailer Tires Be Mixed on Tandem Trailer
It is okay to have different load range tires on each axle of a tandem axle trailer on a temporary basis but I do not recommend using the trailer in this configuration in the long term. Also, it is never a good idea to mix tires of different sizes. The lower-rated tires will run hotter than the higher rated ones. As temperatures change tires' handling performance can change too. The lower-rated tires could potentially be more likely to fail and could cause trailer tracking problems....

  • Replacement Tire Recommendation for Horse Trailer with Tire Size 7.50-16LT
We have that exact tire size of 7.50-16LT as part number # AM10423. I attached a review video for this tire if you wanted to see more info. If you are only replacing a single tire on a horse trailer it would make the most sense to stick with the same size that's on it.

All of the LT tires we have to fit a 16 x 6 inch rim are larger than 30 inches in diameter. They're all 7.50-16LT sized tires at Load Range D, part # AM10418, Load Range E, part # AM10423, and Load Range F, part # AM10430. They're all 31.8 inches in diameter. The closest to 30 inches Load Range E tires we have to fit a 16 inch rim are part # TTWTRTM2358016E which are ST235/80 R16 and have a diameter of 30.79 inches and a maximum capacity of 3,520 pounds at 80 psi.

  • Replacing a 7.00-16 LT Tire for a Trailer
Although we do have 7.50-16LT (Light Truck) tires, like part # AM10423, you will want to put trailer tires on your trailer. Trailer tires have a stiffer sidewall which allows them to carry heavier loads better than a passenger car tire. Passenger car tires have some flex in their sidewalls to help make the ride more smooth. Since this is not needed on a trailer it is always best to go with the stronger trailer tires. You will want to get a replacement tire that is comparable to the...

  • Can a 7.50-16 Size Tire Fit the Same Wheel that a 7.00-16 Size Tire was Installed on
A 7.50-16 size tire, like the Kenda # AM10423, will most likely fit a 16" wheel but you need to check the specs first. For example, the tire I mentioned above will fit a 16" x 6" wheel. If your 16" wheel is 6" wide then this will fit. Be sure that if you are measuring your wheel that you measure from bead seat to bead seat as opposed to the whole width of the wheel. • Recommended Kenda LT Tires for a 1954 Ford 1 Ton
The Kenda Light Truck Tire K391M - 7.50-16LT - Load Range E # AM10423 will work for your 1954 Ford 1 Ton. The LT stands for Light Truck which are used on many trailers. That is the route I'd go and then have them balanced like vehicle tires instead of trailer tires. You can alternatively use the Kenda Light Truck Tire K391M - 7.50-16LT - Load Range F # AM10430 but in my opinion they would be a little to stiff for your truck.

  • Recommended Solution for Trailer With Different Size Tires
What I recommend doing is getting tires that are the same size and have the same load rating; you will want your tires to have load ratings that equal or exceed the GVWR of your trailer. If you do not have the same size and appropriately rated tires there are a host of issues you could run into, including problems with your trailer tracking behind your tow vehicle and suspension difficulties based on different sized tires being able to handle different sized loads. Steel in the sidewall is not used in many trailer tire sizes. It is mostly used in the sidewall of tires for heavy duty commercial truck applications that are more susceptible to damage to the sidewall, because of the conditions they will be used in. • ST235/80-16 Trailer Tire and Wheel Recommendation for a Toy Hauler Trailer
So there is a lot going on here. First you should know that trailer tires are constructed differently than passenger vehicle tires. Trailer tires, with ST in front of the size, are built with a thicker sidewall to handle more vertical load whereas passenger vehicle tires are built for more lateral forces (because they have turning axles). This is why passenger vehicle tires should not be used on trailers. The exception is a light truck tire that has LT at the END of the tire size such as...
