Limited Warranty with Free Tire Replacement

This tire has a limited warranty with free tire replacement on workmanship defects. You are eligible for this warranty within the first 12 months from date of purchase or the first 2/32" of usable tread, whichever comes first.

Goodyear Endurance Radials

This radial ply tire from Goodyear is constructed with double steel belts and triple polyester cords for increased durability. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation and an inner liner made out of halobutyl rubber reduces air loss.

Goodyear Endurance Durawall Technology

This Goodyear Endurance tire was built with Durawall technology, which is used on a lot of Goodyear's light truck tires for severe, heavy-duty use. This technology consists of a rubber compound that reinforces the sidewall to help prevent cuts, punctures, and other damage. Furthermore, the tire has a scuff guard, which is the raised strip of rubber on the sidewall. This protects the tire from abrasion if you hit a curb.

Goodyear Endurance Tread

And unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the automotive-grade tread on these Goodyear Endurance tires has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. This greatly improves traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.

Goodyear Endurance Coupling Grooves

The tread also consists of decoupling grooves that run along the outer edges of the tire. These grooves help evenly distribute the pressure that is put on the tire from contact with the road. When this happens, the grooves wear out faster than the surrounding tread, which minimizes irregular wear, especially when you're towing. Additionally, these outer edges usually heat up more quickly than the rest of the tire, and these decoupling grooves help keep it cool.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Video Transcript for Goodyear Tires and Wheels - Tire Only - 724858519 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Goodyear Endurance ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer tire in a load range E. Now, this is a radial trailer tire which is great for highway use and it is a special trailer tire design, so it couples the strength of a bias tire with the durability and stability of a radial tire.It is created specifically for trailers, not intended for use on any other vehicles. It's a Goodyear Endurance tire, they use the optimized tread depth and on the shoulders they use the de-coupling grooves to help keep the tire cool while towing heavy loads. On the inside they use a specialized inner liner to minimize air loss in trailer applications because of the 100% halobutyl rubber. On the side wall, they use a Durawall technology. It helps resist sidewall cuts and punctures and they even have a little raised area all the way around on both sides, that's a scuff guard. It helps provide sidewall protection. Now this is a polyester tire with two steel belts. Also, use the nylon overlay to improve durability and carrying capacity. This tire is compatible with TPMS, the tire pressure monitoring systems.

Also meets the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications. This tire is sort of unique because it is made in the USA. Most all of the new trailer tires now are made overseas. This is one of the few, if not the only one that is made in the USA.A few specs on this, it is designed to fit a 16 inch by 6 inch wide wheel, 16 by 6.5 inch, 16 by 7, and a 16 by 7.5 inch wide wheel. The tire size, which is stamped on the sidewall, ST for special trailer, 235/80R16, the R means it's a radial design tire. Section width on this size is going to be 9.3 inches.

Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated is 30.8 inches. Capacity on this is the load range E, which means it's a 10 ply rated tire. Maximum load capacity in a single tire application is 3420 pounds at 80psi, and if it's used in a dual tire application, it's 3000 pounds at 80psi.And the last thing, all the new trailer tires are coming through with a speed rating on them. This tire is stamped with a letter designation for speed rating, and where that's at is if you look right around the bead area here, you'll see the tire size again and you'll see two numbers for the load index and then the letter N.Speed rating N will mean 87 mph, but that should do it for the review on the Goodyear Endurance ST235/80R16 radial trailer tire in a load range E.

Ask the Experts about this Goodyear Tires and Wheels
Do you have a question about this Tires and Wheel?

  • Recommended Trailer Tire PSI For Best Tire Function
  • The psi max is when the tire is inflated cold. As you drive and as ambient temps change the psi will increase, but the manufacturer accounts for that change in their psi recommendations. You want to inflate to the max psi prior to your trip to give you the rated load capacity as well as the best traction. Adjusting that can cause your tires to not function as intended and overheat which is the leading cause of failure. So the # LHAW133 you asked this from would be 80 psi inflated cold. The...

  • What is the Correct PSI Rating for ST235/80R16 Trailer Tires
  • The psi rating on the sidewall of all trailer tires is the cold PSI rating, meaning the tire should be inflated to that psi rating before the tire heats up. If your tire says 80 psi, then the manufacturer intended for that tire to be inflated to 80 PSI before you hit the road. If you start out at a lower pressure, then the biggest concern that you will have is that the weight rating of the tire will also decrease. Unfortunately, Goodyear is the only trailer tire manufacturer that lists...

  • Choosing Between ST and LT Tires for a 5th Wheel Trailer
  • Yes, both special trailer (ST) and light truck (LT) tires can be used on a 5th wheel trailer. They are actually the only two types of tires rated for this use. The reason for this is that tires on a trailer will be subjected to much harsher conditions that require a stiffer sidewall. A condition in which passenger (P) tires are not equipped to handle. Please note there are two different light truck (LT) tires, ones with the LT designation after the wheel diameter (ex. 7.50-16LT) and ones...

  • Best Trailer Tires for a Heartland Bighorn 3610 RE
  • For starters, Westlake does make a great trailer tire but it pales in comparison to the Goodyear Endurance. Therefore, this is absolutely the option I recommend you take. In regards to choosing between the 235/80-16 and the 235/85-16, I recommend you stick with the same size that was equipped on the trailer from the OEM. Therefore, the Goodyear Endurance ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire part # 724858519 is what you want. The most common misconception about trailer tires is that they blow...

  • Are Goodyear Tires the Best Trailer Tires
  • Goodyear tires, like # 724858519, are regarded as some of the best trailer tires available. Their tires are more like automobile tires than most because of the breaks in the ribs on the tread. This causes improved traction especially in wet conditions. The picture I attached shows the broken treads as opposed to continuous treads of most other brands. Goodyear tires also have additional sidewall reinforcement that is similar to what they use on their truck tires to prevent the rubber...

  • Tire Recommendation to Replace 235/80R16 Tire on a Heavy Duty Dump Trailer
  • I recommend going with the Goodyear Endurance ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire # 724858519 because it has a superior tread design and a higher speed rating of 87 mph when compared to other similar tires. This specific tire has a 10 ply load range E rating (single tire: 3,420 lbs at 80 psi and dual tires: 3,000 lbs at 80 psi), is made in the USA, and comes with a limited warranty with free tire replacement. Just be sure that the weight rating can hold up to at least your axle weight rating...

  • Are 235/80/16 Load Range E Rated High Enough for a 15,000 lb GVWR Trailer
  • Great question! The thing that a lot of people forget is that the tongue weight (TW) of the trailer takes some of that GVWR. Since a properly loaded trailer should have a TW that is 10-15% of the loaded weight of the trailer this means that if you carried enough stuff to sit right at the GVWR of 15,000 lbs then your axles would be left to carry between 12,750 lbs - 13,500 lbs of weight. Although this means your 7,000 lb axles are rated high enough to handle the weight, unless you are...

  • Can 235/80R16 Tires be Used with 235/85R16 Tires on the Same Trailer
  • Although they are similar in width, the 235/85R16 size tires are going to be almost an entire inch larger in diameter than the 235/80R16 size tires. This means that your trailer won't be completely level while you are towing and your tires won't wear evenly not to mention what could happen to your suspension over time. I recommend using the Goodyear Endurance tires to replace the tires on your flatbed trailer as well as your camper. For the 235/85R16 you would need part # 724860519 load...

  • Should Trailer Tires be Filled to psi on Sidewall When Cold or Hot
  • When you inflate a trailer tire it needs to be up to the psi rating on the sidewall of the tire. For example, the Goodyear Endurance ST235/80R16 # 724858519 that you referenced has a load range of E which is 3,420 lbs at 80 psi. Since the psi will naturally rise when the tire heats up this is what the psi rating should be when the tire is cold. If you were to put your tires at a different load rating, like the 70 psi that you mentioned, then that means the weight rating would change...

  • How to Determine if a Tire is Compatible With a Rim
  • The tire needs to fit the diameter and width of the rim, which for the Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel # AM20750 is 16" diameter and 6" wide. I looked up the tire you mentioned and while it will fit the diameter of the Dexstar # AM20750 there was no information about the wheel width it needed. For a ST235/80R16 tire that will fit a 16" x 6" wheel a great option is the Goodyear Endurance # 724858519 because of Goodyear's notable reputation for quality tires; this is a load range...

We have a Goodyear Endurance tire part # 724858519 which is a ST235/80R16 just like what you had that would be a great solution.
