Limited Warranty with Free Tire Replacement

This tire has a limited warranty with free tire replacement on workmanship defects. You are eligible for this warranty within the first 12 months from date of purchase or the first 2/32" of usable tread, whichever comes first.

Goodyear Endurance Radials

This radial ply tire from Goodyear is constructed with double steel belts and triple polyester cords for increased durability. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation and an inner liner made out of halobutyl rubber reduces air loss.

Goodyear Endurance Durawall Technology

This Goodyear Endurance tire was built with Durawall technology, which is used on a lot of Goodyear's light truck tires for severe, heavy-duty use. This technology consists of a rubber compound that reinforces the sidewall to help prevent cuts, punctures, and other damage. Furthermore, the tire has a scuff guard, which is the raised strip of rubber on the sidewall. This protects the tire from abrasion if you hit a curb.

Goodyear Endurance Tread

And unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the automotive-grade tread on these Goodyear Endurance tires has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. This greatly improves traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.

Goodyear Endurance Coupling Grooves

The tread also consists of decoupling grooves that run along the outer edges of the tire. These grooves help evenly distribute the pressure that is put on the tire from contact with the road. When this happens, the grooves wear out faster than the surrounding tread, which minimizes irregular wear, especially when you're towing. Additionally, these outer edges usually heat up more quickly than the rest of the tire, and these decoupling grooves help keep it cool.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Video Transcript for Goodyear Tires and Wheels - Tire Only - 724858519 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Goodyear Endurance ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer tire in a load range E. Now, this is a radial trailer tire which is great for highway use and it is a special trailer tire design, so it couples the strength of a bias tire with the durability and stability of a radial tire.It is created specifically for trailers, not intended for use on any other vehicles. It's a Goodyear Endurance tire, they use the optimized tread depth and on the shoulders they use the de-coupling grooves to help keep the tire cool while towing heavy loads. On the inside they use a specialized inner liner to minimize air loss in trailer applications because of the 100% halobutyl rubber. On the side wall, they use a Durawall technology. It helps resist sidewall cuts and punctures and they even have a little raised area all the way around on both sides, that's a scuff guard. It helps provide sidewall protection. Now this is a polyester tire with two steel belts. Also, use the nylon overlay to improve durability and carrying capacity. This tire is compatible with TPMS, the tire pressure monitoring systems.

Also meets the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications. This tire is sort of unique because it is made in the USA. Most all of the new trailer tires now are made overseas. This is one of the few, if not the only one that is made in the USA.A few specs on this, it is designed to fit a 16 inch by 6 inch wide wheel, 16 by 6.5 inch, 16 by 7, and a 16 by 7.5 inch wide wheel. The tire size, which is stamped on the sidewall, ST for special trailer, 235/80R16, the R means it's a radial design tire. Section width on this size is going to be 9.3 inches.

Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated is 30.8 inches. Capacity on this is the load range E, which means it's a 10 ply rated tire. Maximum load capacity in a single tire application is 3420 pounds at 80psi, and if it's used in a dual tire application, it's 3000 pounds at 80psi.And the last thing, all the new trailer tires are coming through with a speed rating on them. This tire is stamped with a letter designation for speed rating, and where that's at is if you look right around the bead area here, you'll see the tire size again and you'll see two numbers for the load index and then the letter N.Speed rating N will mean 87 mph, but that should do it for the review on the Goodyear Endurance ST235/80R16 radial trailer tire in a load range E.

Review from a similar Goodyear Endurance Radial in Tires and Wheels

Bought these to replace my Goodyear Marathon travel trailer tires, which were 6 years old. The Marathons were great tires, so figured the new Endurance tires should be similar or better. Just had mounted yesterday so can’t say yet, here’s hoping. I commend etrailer for their excellent service. I ordered them mid day on a Tuesday, free shipping, was given estimated arrival of following Wednesday at the latest. To my surprise they showed up 3 days later on Friday morning! Also they stood by their low price guarantee and promptly refunded the difference plus 10% when I forwarded a link showing a competitors lower (slightly) price. Ill definitely use etrailer in the future. 719129

Whenever I need trailer parts I turn to ETRAILER. Picked up a nail about an hour from home, pulled the nail, plugged the tire and was able to make it home. Logged on, ordered a new tire, paid for the 3-5 day shipping and it arrived in time to get me back on the road. The tires in my enclosed trailer were Goodyear Marathon but all that is offered is the Endurance. It seems to be the replacement for the Marathon as it has the same tread and everything. Another satisfying interaction with ETRAILER. 647264

Ask the Experts about this Goodyear Tires and Wheels

  • Are 235/80/16 Load Range E Rated High Enough for a 15,000 lb GVWR Trailer
Great question! The thing that a lot of people forget is that the tongue weight (TW) of the trailer takes some of that GVWR. Since a properly loaded trailer should have a TW that is 10-15% of the loaded weight of the trailer this means that if you carried enough stuff to sit right at the GVWR of 15,000 lbs then your axles would be left to carry between 12,750 lbs - 13,500 lbs of weight. Although this means your 7,000 lb axles are rated high enough to handle the weight, unless you are...

  • How Much Tire Capacity Necessary for Cougar Fifth Wheel
Because the pin weight of a fifth wheel is typically between 20-25 percent of its weight (as opposed to the lesser percentage from a bumper pull trailer), we typically specify that the combined capacity of the tires should cover the as-towed weight minus the fifth wheel's pin weight. So, if the 13990 lb figure you mentioned less the fifth wheel's pin weight is greater than the 13680 lb combined weight capacity of 4 of the # 724858519 Goodyear Endurance tires, they would work great for...

  • Should Trailer Tires be Filled to psi on Sidewall When Cold or Hot
When you inflate a trailer tire it needs to be up to the psi rating on the sidewall of the tire. For example, the Goodyear Endurance ST235/80R16 # 724858519 that you referenced has a load range of E which is 3,420 lbs at 80 psi. Since the psi will naturally rise when the tire heats up this is what the psi rating should be when the tire is cold. If you were to put your tires at a different load rating, like the 70 psi that you mentioned, then that means the weight rating would change...

This will also work great with the Goodyear ST235/80-16 tires you have now too. Which if you needed a replacement for that (now or later) we have that with the part # 724858519.

  • Recommended Trailer Tire PSI For Best Tire Function
The psi max is when the tire is inflated cold. As you drive and as ambient temps change the psi will increase, but the manufacturer accounts for that change in their psi recommendations. You want to inflate to the max psi prior to your trip to give you the rated load capacity as well as the best traction. Adjusting that can cause your tires to not function as intended and overheat which is the leading cause of failure. So the # LHAW133 you asked this from would be 80 psi inflated cold. The...

  • Are Provider Trailer Tires Made in the USA?
So far the only Radial trailer tire made in the USA is the Goodyear Endurance tire. The Provider tires are made overseas, but I definitely don't consider these tires to be "China Bombs" that some people talk about. I'm personally a big fan of the Provider line and I replaced all of the 10 ply Goodyear Marathon tires on our 16,000-lb gooseneck trailer with the 14 ply Provider tires - ST235/80R16, # PRG80235, over 3 years ago and I couldn't be happier with them. The 14 ply tires don't...

  • Are Goodyear Tires the Best Trailer Tires
Goodyear tires, like # 724858519, are regarded as some of the best trailer tires available. Their tires are more like automobile tires than most because of the breaks in the ribs on the tread. This causes improved traction especially in wet conditions. The picture I attached shows the broken treads as opposed to continuous treads of most other brands. Goodyear tires also have additional sidewall reinforcement that is similar to what they use on their truck tires to prevent the rubber...

  • Can Trailer Tires Be Under-Inflated for Driving on Beaches
Provider does not publish various psi-to-weight capacity specs for their ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire # PRG80235 the way that Goodyear does for their Endurance radials like # 724858519. Goodyear actually tests their tires' weight capacities at different psi pressures. Provider does not. Lowering pressure will always lower weight carry capacity as you'll see in the linked Goodyear chart. Since we do not have the same confirmed data from Provider you are on your own in terms of choosing...

  • Are Any Trailer Tires Made in the USA
Currently Goodyear is the few trailer tire manufacturer that makes tires in the USA. For the tire size of 235/80-16 we have the Goodyear # 724858519 which is made in the USA and a really great option that I would recommend highly for you. It has the highest speed rating a 87 mph, a great weight capacity at 3,420 lbs per tire, and has a great warranty as well. Check out the review video I attached for more info on it as well as a link to all of the Goodyear trailer tires we offer.

  • Valve Stem Ratting of the Taskmaster Steel 8-Spoke Trailer Wheel Part 660655WS1
The valve stem that comes with the Taskmaster Steel 8-Spoke Trailer Wheel part # 660655WS1 is rated for 80 psi so you can mount the Goodyear Endurance ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire part # 724858519 to this and run it at full capacity without a different valve stem. Please note we also offer this combo pre-mounted as part # 724858519AT so you would not have to pay extra for this.

  • Can 235/80R16 Tires be Used with 235/85R16 Tires on the Same Trailer
Although they are similar in width, the 235/85R16 size tires are going to be almost an entire inch larger in diameter than the 235/80R16 size tires. This means that your trailer won't be completely level while you are towing and your tires won't wear evenly not to mention what could happen to your suspension over time. I recommend using the Goodyear Endurance tires to replace the tires on your flatbed trailer as well as your camper. For the 235/85R16 you would need part # 724860519 load...

  • Recommendation to Replace 235/80R16 Tires and Determining Need to Replace Valve Stem
When determining if you can increase the psi on your wheels it's not the wheel itself you need to worry about but the valve stem that's being used. Typically aluminum wheels like what you have are fitted with standard valve stems that are rated for 65 or 80 psi. To verify what your valve stem is rated for you really just need to look at its construction. If it is rubber all the way up it's most likely rated for 65 psi. If it has any metal at all (but still some rubber too) then it's likely...
