Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.
- If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
- If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
- If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
- If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Today, we're going to review part number AM20242. This is the Dexstar 13" by 4.5" black steel mini-mod trailer wheel with the 4 on 4" bolt pattern. This steel wheel has the module design, and the module design is when it has the round holes that go all the way around the edge. It's very sturdy. It's very corrosion resistant. They do use a two step finishing process on this.
First, they us an e-coat primer, and then over the whole wheel they do a black powder coat finish to protect it. This wheel does meet the Department of Transportation standards. A few spec on this: the rim diameter is 13" when measured inside to inside. The width if 4.5" same way. Basically, when you're measuring the dimensions on a wheel, you're measuring when a tire seats on this, so the tire beads will seat right here. That's where you'll be measuring from.
You don't measure outside to outside. It's inside to inside where the tire beads would seat. If we put a ruler on this, you can see right at 13" for the diameter, and then the width inside to inside would be 4.5", so 13" by 4.5". The bolt pattern is a 4 on 4" bolt pattern. To measure the bolt pattern on a wheel that's an even number of lugs it's pretty simple. You just pick one lug hole and measure from the center of that lug hole directly across to this lug hole right across from it, center to center.
On this one, if we go center to center, right at 4", so 4 on 4" bolt pattern. This does use a wheel lug size of .5" by 20. Has a weight capacity on this wheel of 1,660 pounds. The pilot hole diameter, which is the large hole here in the center of the wheel . This goes over the hub on your trailer. On this wheel, that center hole pilot diameter would be 2.65".

These wheels look great and really dressed up my vintage pop up. Swapped out the original 5.70 X 8 tires and flipped the axle, this can go anywhere now. 720014

- I am guessing that your axle weight rating is either 2,000 lbs or 3,500 lbs. You should be able to verify this by looking at the tag/sticker near the trailer tongue or by finding the weight rating stamped in the middle of the axle. We do have replacement brake magnets for each. Simply check to see if you have 7" brake assemblies or 10" assemblies and then use part # AKBRKR-M7 or # AKBRKR-M10 respectively. - Yes, you can install radial tires on the Dexstar rim part # AM20242 that you referenced. For a radial tire that would fit this rim and work well we have the part # LHWL101. This size is ST175/80R13.
Or for a similar wheel that comes with a radial tire installed already we have the part # LHAX097 that would work great. The tire has a higher speed rating than usual at 75 mph and has a 2 year roadside program too. The tire I mentioned before has the same ratings and roadside program.

This wheel is not compatible with baby moon hub caps. They only fit what are called conventional steel wheels and there are none available in the 13 x 4-1/2 size with 4 on 4 bolt pattern.

- Yes, it is perfectly okay to use a trailer wheel like the Dexstar Steel Mini Mod # AM20242 you were looking at that features 1/2"-20 wheel bolt holes on a hub with M12 studs. The M12 studs are just slightly smaller in diameter but as long as you use lug nuts that have a 60 degree bevel (like part # CE11051) to match the wheel bevel this isn't an issue.

- 100 mm in inches is 3.9 inches which means your bolt pattern is pretty close to 4 on 4 inch but since it's German it very well could be a totally different bolt pattern than what we carry. If it is 4 on 3.9 inch we aren't going to have a replacement.
