Randy: Hey guys. Randy here at etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at some valve stem extenders from Wheel Masters. These are just the straight version. Basically anytime we're dealing with dual rear wheels like this, we usually have an air fitting that's hard to get to. That inner wheel generally doesn't allow itself to be very easily accessible.

You can see on ours here, it's just basically tucked right back in the end there, and while we can kind of get to it to get the cap off the end, it's just not ideal.Generally, when you're taking this cap off, what you'll do is drop it. And then you got to, kind of, get down there and dig in-between and try to get to it. So these are available, this is a three-inch version, but they're available in a two-inch extension or a four-inch extension. You want to be sure you're not using these on a rubber valve stem, they're just too heavy. They'll kind of flop around.

But, see that's a nice steel valve stem that we have there. And by using this extender, we'll just get it started on there, threads on just like a valve stem cap will. Let me get it down, and then it's got that nut on it, we'll use a 7/16-inch wrench for that. You can go in between the tires if you need to, but we don't need to have these super tight, we just want them to be tight enough, of course, where no air is going to escape..Let me see, that's on there, nice and stiff. And then we got that Chrome cap there.

Now we've moved that out either two, three or four inches. It makes it much easier to get to. Now there are other extenders available. This one comes straight out, so this is where we're going to use the straight line. But if you look at this one, you can see with this valve stem here, it points towards the inside.

So that's where like the reverse air chuck, you can kind of get in there, hook onto it and pull out on it. But using a bent extender like this helps us out in this situation. Just depending on what your application calls for. Just allows us to get these out here where it's much more easy to get air into our tires and maintain proper pressure.You can see it's got a nice bright finish to it. It's going to come with the metal cap. In some situations people like to switch the metal cap for just the standard black plastic ones. Sometimes corrosion can be an issue and make these a little tough to get off so just keep that in mind. This is the one that's been on here for probably about a year and a half and you can see the finish is still holding up really well. There weren't any issues with leaks or anything, just like this one here. It's been on there for about a year and a half too and really no major issues with corrosion or discoloration.Overall, guys, I think these are an excellent idea. Anytime we can make it easier to properly maintain our vehicle, we're going to do it more often. When tire pressures get low or if we don't check them often enough, it can cause safety issues. If not safety issues it can cause weird wear on our tires and things like that. So if I had a set of dual rear wheels like this, I would definitely extend them out, make them easier to get to, an easier to maintain.
