Video Transcript for Americana Tire Inflation and Repair - Valve Stems - AM20907 Review

Today we're going to review part number AM20907. This is the high pressure rubber snap-in valve stem. It has a maximum pressure of 100 PSI. These tubular snap-in valves for high pressure applications are usually designed for medium and heavy duty trucks and trailers, and must be used when their recommended cold inflation pressure exceeds the 65 PSI. These high pressure snap-in valves that will fit the 0.625 rim hole . which is what this will fit into .. will allow a maximum cold inflation of 100 PSI.

These are typically used in steel wheels high pressure snap-in valves. They combine a thicker rubber snap-in base with the metal barrel, which you can see right here, and the plastic cap that goes over. The effective length of this valve stem, which is measured once it's installed into the wheel . the effective length will be measured from the wheel up to the top here. On this one, the effective length youre looking at about 1 1/4 inch. Again, this fits the rim hole diameter of 0.625.

The wheels that have that size rim hole are usually 16 inches inaudible 00:01:16, because they are used in the medium and heavy duty trucks and trailers. That should do it for the review of part number Am20907, the high pressure rubber snap-in valve stem with the 100 PSI maximum pressure. .

Interestingly, these Valve Stems do expire with time. When replacing tires, recommend one also replace the valve stems (Really saves headaches). Original lasted 12 years. Small leaks developed where the brass stem comes out of the rubber. Also, a little sideways pressure on the valve stem can confirm leaks originating at the hole where it comes out of the wheel. 598275

The wheels were exactly what I needed and wanted for a very good price. The trailer light package was of good quality and for a great price. However, the valve stems ordered were for the wheels and the did not fit because the diameter was too large. I had purchased ones that fit when I had my tires mounted at big O. Over all that was a minor issue and I will gladly depend on etrailer for all my trailer needs. Thanks so much! 192441

  • How to Determine if Wheels Can Withstand 110 psi Rating for New Tires
Unless otherwise stated on the wheel itself, wheels themselves will be able to withstand the psi rating of any tire that is confirmed to fit it. The piece that you will want to look at is the valve stem. If you have a rubber valve stem then the highest rated one that is available (anywhere) would be up to 100 psi like part # AM20907. If you want to use a tire that has a psi rating over 100 then you will need to make sure that you have metal valve stems like part # AM20906. Valve...

  • How to Determine psi Rating of a Trailer Rim
When loading a higher rated trailer tire onto a trailer wheel as long as you stay within the lower of the two's weight rating and the psi rating of the wheel's valve stem you'll be fine. So you need to determine the psi of your valve stems. First of all if they're metal they're gonig to be rated for over 100 psi. As a rule of thumb if they're rubber and the threads go all the way to the rubber of the stem then they're rated up to 65 psi. If there is metal between the threads and the...

  • Will HWT Wheels Work With Tires Rated For 80 PSI?
Most wheels (rims) are not rated for psi as in this case, so the tires and valve stems are the limiting factor. You will not have any issue with 80 psi tires on the Aluminum Hi-Spec Series S5 Trailer Wheel as long as you are using the correct valve stem. I recommend the Americana High Pressure Rubber Snap-In Valve Stem - 1-1/4" Long - Up to 100 psi # AM20907.

I went out to our warehouse and physically looked at the Aluminum HWT Series S5 Trailer Wheel - 16" x 6-1/2" Rim - 6 on 5-1/2 - Black # AM22658HWTB for you. There is no psi rating on the wheel. I reached out to my contact at HWT and they stated the psi will be limited by the valve stem used. So I checked the valve stems and the steel # AM20906 is not compatible due to the washer and nut on the outside. You can use the Americana High Pressure Rubber Snap-In Valve Stem - 1-1/4" Long -...

The correct Goodyear Endurance Tire part # 724857519 is the ST225/75R15 size that you are looking for. This has a load range of E (2,830 lbs at 80 psi) and a max speed of 87 mph just like what you currently have. For a wheel I recommend the Dexstar Steel Mini Mod Trailer Wheel # AM20539 which is a silver color, has the same weight rating, comes with a limited 2-year warranty, and is made here in the USA. The Aluminum Jaguar Trailer Wheel - 16" x 6" Rim - 6 on 5-1/2 - Black # 274-000011 has a psi restricted by the valve stem used. When you use the Americana Metal, Bolt-In Valve Stem - 1-1/4" Long - Over 100 psi # AM20906 the capacity is most likely limited by the tire's max psi you choose to pair it with.
