Video Transcript for Americana Tire Inflation and Repair - Valve Stems - AM20903 Review

Today we're going to review part number AM20903. This is the rubber snap-in valve stem with the maximum pressure of eighty PSI and the effective length of one and a quarter inches long. These tubeless rubber snap-in valves stems are designed for passenger car, light duty trailer, and light truck wheels. These valves will allow a cold air tire inflation pressure on the tire of a maximum of sixty-five PSI. These are typically used in steel wheels. These snap-in valve stems have a rubber snap-in base with the plastic cap that goes over the valve.

The effective length on the valve stem is always measured once it's installed in the wheel, so basically where it comes through the wheel to the very top of the cap. On this one the effective length, if we measure, it's going to be right at one and a quarter inches. That should do it for the review on part number AM20903, the rubber snap-in valve stem with the maximum eighty PSI rating and the inch and a quarter inch effective length. .

Great produce. Great price. Easy to install. My family has a shared trailer, a small tilt trailer used to transport lawn care equipment. Using the trailer for the first time this year I was reminded, again, when everybody ownes it, nobody ownes it. The valve stem failed which jeopardized a lawn care commitment I'd made to a widow from church. Worse yet, staying well in these viral times meant I couldn't simple have the stem replaced at my local service station. eTrailer.com to the rescue! Having the parts in stock that I needed, at a great price, with next day delivery made everything work. The tire stem and bearings (another casualty of shared possession) arrived when promised and were quality products. Replacement was easy and, voila, I was able to cut Mrs. Margaret's grass as promised without coming in contact with anyone. Thanks, etrailer.com! 774950

Ask the Experts about this Americana Tire Inflation and Repair

  • Where Is the PSI Rating for a Trailer Wheel Located At On the Wheel
The pressure or psi rating of a trailer wheel will come from the valve stem. They do not really rate the wheel itself to a certain psi rating as the limiting factor will always be the valve stem. If you are running tires that required under 65 psi then you can use part # AM20903 but for anything over 65 psi you would want to use part # AM20906.

  • Replacing Valve Stems to Increase PSI Rating of Rim to Equal Tire
The psi rating will be determined by either the tire or the valve stem of the wheels. If you upgrade your tires you can upgrade the valve stems to meet the necessary psi. We carry several options. Americana # AM20903 are rated up to 65 psi and # AM20904 are rated up to 80 psi. Or for heavier trailers we have # AM20907 rated up to 100 psi and # AM20906 rated over 100 psi which are metal.

  • Trailer Tire Size ST205/75R14 in Load Range D
For a Load Range D trailer tire sized 205/75R14 we have the part # AM10235. It does need 65 psi in the tires at all times which shouldn't be a problem for your wheel at all. There's a slim chance your valve stem wouldn't be able to handle the pressure but most trailer tire valve stems should have no problem. For example, our lowest rated valve stem part # AM20903 has a 65 psi limit. This fits through trailer wheel stem holes of .453 inch and part # AM20905 also is rated for 65 psi and...

  • Can Rims for 205/75-14 Sized Tires Handle 65 PSI if Increasing to 215/75-14 Sized Tires
Most likely the 215/75 R14 tire will fit just fine. As long as the rim isn't a 5 inch rim. A 205/75 R14 tire can be on a rim as small as 5 inches but the larger tire can't go any smaller than 5-1/2. So measure the width of the rim from where the tire touches it and make sure it's wide enough. Chances are the rim can handle the 65 psi. It's actually the valve stem of the wheel that determines if it can handle the psi or not and most stems are rated to at least 65 psi. If yours isn't,...

  • Deciding Between Flow-Through and Cap Style TPMS Sensors for an RV
If you have valve stems with a metal body like the Americana Metal, Bolt-In Valve Stem part # AM20906 then you will want to use flow-through sensors but if you have valve stems with a rubber body like the Americana Rubber, Snap-In Valve Stem part # AM20903 then you will want to use the cap style sensors. The TST TPMS for RVs part # TST-507-FT-4-C and part # TST-507-RV-4-C are my recommendations.

  • Recommended Replacement Wheels for 5 on 5 Bolt Pattern
Thank you for the photo of your old wheel. That is extremely helpful in this case.To answer your main question, the measurement of the bolt pattern is going to be the most important factor in replacing the wheels on your trailer. The hub bore dimension won't be an important consideration since most wheels now are lug centric-meaning that they're centered and supported by the lug studs on your wheel. With that being said, it looks like you have an old Dexstar 17-384 wheel that has a...

  • Should 205/75-15 Bias Trailer Tires be Replaced With Radial Trailer Tires for Highway Driving
I highly recommend switching from bias trailer tires to radial trailer tires for highway travel. The reason for that is radial trailer tires are designed for use on normal paved roads and highways because they flex more and run cooler than bias tires. The cords on a radial tire run at a 90 degree angle straight across the tire while the cords on a bias tire run at a 32 degree angle. That leads to the better flexing, traction and ground contact with a radial tire. A bias tire is best for...
