Thule Tire Chains - TH02230K67

Because they are designed to ride solely on your vehicle's tire tread, these chains are the perfect solution for trucks or SUVs with limited wheel-well clearance. Chains automatically tighten and align as you drive for the simplest installation.

  • Patented self-centering, self-tensioning system
    • Fastest, easiest installation of any Thule chains
      • Place chain on top of tire, attach to wheel nut or bolt and drive off - chains tighten and center on the tire as the wheels spin
  • Exclusive steel tensioning springs create a perfect fit, even on worn tires
  • External quick-release system for fast removal
  • Exceptional grip on snow and ice
    • Dual-sided, D-shape links for increased traction
    • Icebreaker reinforcements help bust apart ice beneath the tires
  • High-quality manganese nickel alloy steel construction is durable and corrosion resistant
  • Plastic traction plates are durable and flexible to accommodate different temperatures
    • Rivets help to protect plates from wear and allow for increased traction
    • Sturdy arms can be folded for compact storage
    • Strong materials and special geometric design ensure that no slipping occurs
  • Chains sit on tire treads only, leaving alloy wheels untouched
  • Painted, non-tread sections won't freeze your fingers like standard, unfinished metal chains
  • Compatible with anti-lock brakes (ABS) and electronic stability control (ESP or ESC) systems
  • Mounting instructions, nylon storage bag and lug nut adapters (17 mm, 19 mm and 21 mm) included
    • 22-mm Lug nut adapters (TH0223022MM - sold separately) available
  • Made in Italy

  • Application: 15" - 22" tires (for exact sizes, see below)

Form meets function in Thule's K-Summit tire chains. Unlike typical snow chains, the K-Summit chains require no attachments behind the wheel. Simply place two of the traction plates on top of the tire and fasten the K-Summit XXL to the wheel's lug nut or bolt with the easy-to-use fixing key. Activate the chain's ratcheting mechanism and you'll be ready to roll. As you drive away, the traction plates clamp onto the tire surface, and the chain adjusts to conform to the tire perfectly, providing a precise fit even on worn tires. After use, fold up the tire chains and store them in the compact, reusable carrying case.

The K-Summit XXL delivers an extremely user-friendly design. Each chain sits on top of your tire's treads instead of wrapping around the entire wheel. This design not only eliminates the threat of scratches to your wheels, but it also ensures that there is no interference with any suspension or braking components on the inside of the wheel well.

Thule snow chains are handmade in Italy of hardened manganese-nickel alloy steel for durability. The reduced-clearance, D-shape links provide superior traction for excellent grip on snow and ice. The durable plastic traction plates have metal studs to give you superior grip while also providing a high level of driving comfort.

K-Summit Installation

How to Install the K-Summit Snow Chain:

  1. Lay 2 of the chains traction plates on top of the tire.
  2. Attach chain to 1 wheel nut.
  3. Activate the ratchet, which tightens as you drive away.

K-Summit Lug Nut Adapter

Lug Nut Adapter

Attach the lug nut adapter that matches your wheel bolt size to the fixing key. The most commonly used adapters are included with your K-Summit snow chains. ('s custom fitguide will indicate whether your vehicle requires an adapter that is sold separately.) The fixing key then mounts to the wheel bolt on the end where the adapter has been affixed. The other end attaches to the K-Summit base, which includes the ratcheting mechanism that tensions the chains as you drive.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

  1. (185) - indicates the width
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel expressed in inches

  • Best Clearance Snow Chain Availability for Tire Size 245/50-20

  • Is the Lug Nut Adapter # TH0223022MM Required to Install Thule K-Summit Chains on 2013 Toyota Venza
  • From the research I did it looks like the 2013 Toyota Venza uses 21 mm lug nuts, so you would not need the Lug Nut Adapter # TH0223022MM since it is only needed for vehicles that have 22 mm lug nuts. The Thule K-Summit Tire Chains # TH02230K67 that you referenced come with 17, 19 and 21 mm lug nut adapters so you should be fine.
