  • Maximum load (break strength): 6,000 lbs
  • Strap latch length: 3"

Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

ShockStrap ATV Tie-Down Kit

This tie-down kit is perfect for strapping down your ATV. It includes 4 ratchet straps that can be used to strap down your vehicle to your truck bed or trailer. It also includes 8 strap latches to prevent the hooks from slipping off of the anchor points if the tie-downs go slack as you tighten your load, or if the load shifts while traveling.

Unlike traditional straps, which don't stretch or contract, these tie-downs are uniquely designed with built-in shock absorbers that allow the straps to maintain constant tension on your load as you travel. This is great for ATVs, which have bouncing suspension systems that can compress and rebound when you travel rough terrain.

ATV tied down to trailer by 2-inch ShockStrap ratchet straps

Built-In Shocks

The webbing of standard straps can't stretch or contract to absorb impacts. As a result, standard tie-downs might become detached from their anchor points, or they may become slack around your gear as your ATV shifts.

Close of up the 2-inch ratchet ShockStrap tie-downs

But these ratchet straps each feature 2 built-in urethane shocks that are designed to absorb impact and to allow give. This ensures that the tie-downs stay taut and won't loosen over time. The built-in shocks help to keep the tie-downs from coming loose or failing, which could result in lost or damaged toys.

In addition, the shocks ensure a longer life for the strap webbing. The constant compressing and rebounding of your ATV's suspension during travel can wreak havoc on ordinary straps. The webbing is likely to experience more wear and tear as it rubs along your gear. But the ShockStrap's shocks absorb these jolts so that the webbing of the tie-downs stays put instead of wearing over the edges of your equipment.

Easy-to-Use Ratchet

Each tie-down features a commercial-grade, field-replaceable ratchet that is easy to use. To release the ratchet, grab the oversized handle and pull on the release lever. The release lever is positioned on the outside of the ratchet to ensure safe and easy operation, even if you're wearing gloves.

How to Use the ShockStrap ATV Tie-Down System

Once your ATV is loaded in your truck or on your trailer, engage its parking brake. Next, you'll want to scope out 4 anchor points on the ATV, preferably on its frame.

Back view of an ATV tied down using the 2-inch ShockStrap tie downs

Attaching the tie-downs to the frame is ideal. The tension from the straps on this part of the vehicle will compress the ATV's suspension just enough (about halfway) to maintain tension when you hit bumps on the road. The tension should prevent sway and bouncing, which could otherwise loosen the straps or allow them to become detached from their anchor points.

There are 4 straps included in this kit - 2 for use on the front of your ATV and 2 for use on the rear. When you attach the tie-down straps to your truck or trailer, be sure to anchor them so that the ATV is pulled down at all 4 corners.

To use these tie-downs, attach one of the durable hooks to a desired anchor point on your truck or trailer. Place a strap latch on the hook before attaching it, and then stretch the latch over the tip of the hook once it's anchored in place to make sure that the hook doesn't detach from the anchor. Then secure the other hook to a point on the ATV.

ATV tied down using soft loops on the 2-inch ShockStrap ratcheting strap

There are soft loops built into each strap as well, so that you can tie down your ATV without having to worry about the metal hooks or hardware of the straps potentially scratching or scuffing it. To use the soft loops, simply cinch the strap around a secure location on the ATV, and run the tie-down's hook through the loop.

Once the hooks are in place, tighten the webbing and activate the shocks. To tighten each strap, crank the ratchet mechanism until the webbing is taut. Be sure not to overtighten the strap. If your hand cannot fit between the shocks and the safety strap, the strap is too tight.

To activate the shocks, tighten the strap a bit more, stretching the shocks until light is visible through the bolt holes in each shock. In warm climates, the shocks can stretch up to 2", while in subzero climates you may only get about 1/2" of give.

Once the straps have been tightened and the shocks have been activated, just make sure your ATV is completely secure and then tie off any extra slack.

Strong, Durable Construction

The sturdy, UV-resistant polyester webbing of these tie-down straps has a high tolerance for abrasion and water absorption.

The shocks are made of urethane, which can withstand elements such as sunlight, saltwater, moisture, oil, fungi, and most chemicals. These shocks can function in nearly any temperature, holding up to hot and cold weather conditions without losing elasticity or becoming unyielding or brittle over time.

The rust-resistant, yellow zinc chromate coating on the ratchet and hardware holds up to the varying weather conditions.

The strap latches are made of a plastic polymer that has a protective UV stabilizer to battle sun damage.

A safety strap is also built into each tie-down to provide peace of mind should something happen to the shocks. This safety strap ensures that if the tie-downs are used improperly, overloaded, or unduly stretched, your ATV will remain secured.

Picked up product at our gate this morning. Probably delivered last night, Oct 25, as promised. Showed up just in time. They are excellent quality and have good hook and sling options to tie down anything we are going to trailer. We will be using them next week to trailer our folks Polaris Razor from Az White Mountains to Tucson area. Will also be using to trailer our compact backhoe/front end loader to White Mountains and friends around area. Been using chains and ratchet boomers and before that other ratchet cloth tie downs. All have to be checked and sometimes reset at every stop. 446451

These straps are hands down the best tie downs I have ever had! I am likely going to purchase another set for my trailer. I use them to hold my ATV on my Diamondback truck cover. Very Solid even on long trips. I highly recommend them! 660345

Well to start off the straps are to long to strap down a motorcycle properly but I tried it and they loosened up more so than the regular old fashion ones, so basically I saw no need to waste the money on them. 473382

I would not pay extra money for this product again as I'm not sure what the expandable piece really does. I've used it for a motor cycle and afraid if I ratchet too tightly, I might break a part of the cycle. Also, the fixed part of the strap is too long. 673061

Review from a similar ShockStrap Shock-Absorbing Ratchet in Ratchet Straps

Quality of product is fantastic. My only issue with these is that the portion with the ratchet handle is so long, that the handle makes contact with bikes with large fairings while ratcheting (in my case, a BMW R1200RT). This makes it physically impossible to release tension by fully extending the handle. Ratchet side measures approximately 25.5 inches, with 2 inches of slack for the spring, when measured from the s-hook to the fully extended handle. 529783

These straps are great. The are strong and allow for some movement of the motorcycles without have the straps break or come loose. The Harley was transported to Las Vegas and back, 2500 miles with no issues. 604462

Review from a similar ShockStrap Shock-Absorbing Ratchet in Ratchet Straps

The product performed as it was advertised. The straps were well constructed and it was obvious a great deal of thought went into the design. I shoot sporting clay targets and haul a John Deere Gator 825 XUV to events, as a means of transportation around the course. Roads traveling to and from events, often, are gravel or dirt. This can and does create rough road surfaces to pull trailers and XUVs on. I used the Shock Straps this past week and watched to Gator as I drove on some rough terrain. The Gator did not move or sway during the trip. When I got to my destination, the straps were as tight as when I left for the trip. There was absolutely no play in the straps. Previously, I was always adjusting the straps and the XUV would rock and bounce on rough terrain. No any more. 551018

I finally got to use my new ShockStraps and let me tell you they work better than any other strap I have ever used to haul a race car with! I would definitely suggest to get a set of them! We drove 3 and half hours this weekend to a track and when we got there the straps were still tight. Best strap there is in my opinion!! 469000

Review from a similar ShockStrap Shock-Absorbing Ratchet in Ratchet Straps

I haven't used my yet but a friend of my let me use his before I bought my. What a good product. I used the shock straps to tie down my utv on a trailer. I had to drive down some rough dirt roads and a logging road to get to our hunting shack. When I went to unload the utv, the straps were still tight and attached to the utv, not like the old ratchet straps I had. A lot of times the straps was unhooked laying in the trailer or they would be missing. Excellent product, I would recommend this product for sure!!!! 590157

I have had a chance to use the tie downs on two round trips to deer woods towing our Honda Pioneer 1000-5. They worked flawlessly, the straps I used before would come loose on occasion when crossing bridges with a sharp dip. I highly recommend these tie down straps. 445562

The 1 1/2 bungee straps work real good for motorcycles, the 2" one's are a little bit of a job to make them work because of the overall length of them. 554517
