It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

Cargo Buckle Tie-Down System for TracRac Ladder Rack

CargoBuckle Tie-Down Straps for TracRac Ladder Rack System

These CargoBuckle tie-down straps fit your pre-2018 TracRac ladder rack. They make it easy to secure ladders, lumber, and other cargo with just 1 hand. The tie-downs mount in the slotted crossbars of the ladder rack (hardware is included), and you can reposition them along the rack as needed.

The ratcheting tie-downs work in conjunction with TracRac's sliding load stops or built-in anchor points. Just pull out the strap and run it over your cargo. Then attach the S-hook at the end of the strap to an anchor point on the ladder rack, ratchet the strap down, and you're good to go.

The tie-downs have a self-retracting design, so there is constant tension on the strap and minimal ratcheting is required to secure your load. This also means that you don't have to worry about any unused strap tangling or flapping in the wind.

To unload, simply push the release lever on the ratchet, free the hook, and let the strap retract back into the housing.

Video Transcript for CargoBuckle Trailer Cargo Control IMF104933 Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the CargoBuckle retractable ratchet straps. These heavy duty tie-downs let you secure cargo, like ladders and lumber, to your track rack, truck bed, ladder rack. Simply mounts in the channels of your track rack system with the included hardware. The mount hole at the base has a diameter of 7/16 of an inch and can be positioned anywhere along the rack's crossbars. So the units are a really nice design. Again, it can be positioned anywhere along the rack's crossbars that you need it to be.

These ratchet straps can also be used for other permanent mount applications where you need to secure gear, like on your trailer or truck bed. The unit features this self ratcheting mechanism that automatically winds up the strap into the built in housing. So real quick, I just want to point out that here at the handle, you're gonna have three main positions. You do have all the way down, but you have to kind of hold the lever there. That allows the unit to go into a free spool mode. You also have the down locked position, which does not allow you to extend the strap out, but it will self ratchet back into the mechanisms and locks in place.

So that's a nice design and then, of course, you have the ratcheting. You have the ratcheting function and at the top, you have another locked position, which again, is a free spool option for the unit. So the self-retracting design automatically winds the strap up into the built-in housing, maintains constant tension on the strap for minimal ratcheting when tightening your straps over your gear, and it keeps thee straps neatly stowed when they're not in use. The ratcheting mechanism makes it easy to tighten down straps and maintain tension. The unit features the wide rubber coated handle.

It's easy to hold onto and operate with one hand and then again you're gonna have the duel safety locks that ensure that the ratchet arm stays in the open or closed positions. It's got the push to release levers, quickly and easily loosens the strap when you're ready to release the tension and unload. The steel hook is a vinyl coated hook that's gonna help protect your cargo from scuffs and scratches. I did do some measurements on that, so I'll mention those for you real quick. The diameter itself of that hook is 7/16 of an inch, including the vinyl coating. The opening right here, diagonal measurement is about 1 and 1/8 of an inch when it comes to that opening.

The unit features really durable construction. It's gonna offer long lasting performance. We're looking at corrosion resistant steel bodies, seatbelt quality polyester webbing, and then a sturdy, plastic housing as well as stainless steel springs. The strap is going to measure 2 inches wide by about 6 feet long. Safe working load limit per strap is 1167 pounds. Maximum loader break strength per strap is 3500 pounds. Both straps and hardware are included with this part number. I want to go again and give you the measurements of the base, so I measured edge to edge, outer point to outer point. Got a measurement of about 4 1/2 inches. Going this direction at the base, got a measurement of around 4 inches. Then if you have it installed like on a flat surface, you're gonna have an overall height measurement of around 3 inches tall. Please keep in mind that tie down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit. The weight of the secure cargo must not exceed the combined working load limit of the straps being used. That's gonna do it for today's look at the CargoBuckle retractable ratchet straps.

Love the product. Saves lots of time when fastening anything to my TracRack. It has been in the sun for a year. No degradation. It does cause some wind resistance but you can't have it otherwise. I tried mounting it on the underside of the rack but that was too awkward. Avoid cranking too hard or you will pull the sliding side braces toward the ratchet. If the brace starts out a few inches from the ratchet it can pin the brace's knob against the webbing. It is difficult to undo. I'd like to see a better mounting option that could be on the front or back edge of the vertical posts. An adaptor bracket would be needed. A longer strap would also be needed, perhaps 8-10'. It would reduce wind resistance and allow for better securing of loads. The current top horizontal rack mount puts the vector force towards the ratchet. When carrying a low profile load, this pulls the load mostly sideways instead of down against the horizontal rack. The hook and webbing can be wrapped around the rack on the opposite side of the load so one side of the load has is some downward force. However, the side toward the ratchet is mostly sideways force. Without a downward clamping force on both sides you risk the center pieces sliding out on a multi-piece stack (e.g., pipes, etc.). This means using the sliding guard on the ratchet side of the load is essential so you can direct the compression at it. For local driving this is probably fine unless you come to a sudden stop. At highway speeds, the risks are too high. I use secondary tie downs. 495269

I just bought 2 with my rack and will be ordering 2 more. This is the only way to secure a kayak to the TracRac. Using a pair of these for one boat it was simply lift the lever, pull the strap, put the hook through the tie down eyelet, let the strap retract on its own, give the ratchet a couple clicks and done. It was faster to do both front and back on one boat than to just retrieve the regular straps. You want these. The TracRac itself is equally awesome. Took awhile to put together but it wasn't at all difficult to do. Very secure and the slots for the straps, retainer devices and eyelet hooks not to mention the kayak saddles makes for a clean, slick set up. Love it. 424747

These ratchet straps are a MUST if you have a TracRac system on your truck. No need to struggle with wrapping bungy cords awkwardly around your load and each horizontal cross bar. With these on board (I use the Aluminum Load stops, too) you can place your load, lock it into place horizontally with stops and then ratchet it down to provide total securement and piece of mind. You can secure the entire load in <1 minute (not the case with ordinary bungies) The mechanical components appear to be zinc-plated steel - I expect them to perform well overtime. 439436

I am using the straps to secure my kayaks along with the Malone cradles and the TracRac rack. It is THE perfect set up. The kayaks slide easily on the cloth cradle covers on the rear sets and securing the straps takes only a few seconds per strap. The retracting feature makes it so easy to secure and release the boats. 428530

I got these for my tracrac racks. I'm in the lumber yards at least once a day, and whenever I have to tie down lumber to the racks I had to take out my cargo straps from the back of the truck, unknot them, then strap down the lumber. No more! These are fitted to the top of my racks and takes seconds to strap down my lumber. Nice wide strap that doesn't pinch my softer trim like my old straps. I like the retractable strap function. Just sorry I didn't get them earlier 278771

The cargo buckles for my tracrac arrived yesterday and were put to use right away. They are a great addition to my truck since it is being used for jobs Small and large now. No more messing with pain in the butt ratchet straps that always tangle or worrying if the bungee cord is going to snap. George provided excellent customer service and followed up to see how I liked the product. I will definitely recommend others to and purchase from etrailer in the future! 407752

This product is great, but I have a few things I wish were better. 1. The strap is heavy duty, but it would be nice if it were longer than 6'. An 8' strap would be perfect. 2. It would be nice if you could ratchet the handle further. Right now you can only ratchet it for 2 clicks each time or else it will lock into a different position. Other than that, I'm very happy with this product. 217381

The absolute best tiedown system I've ever used. The wife picked these out to try and ease my day of loading/ unloading ladders with multiple straps. They slide right up to the ladder(s) and ratchet down securely in seconds with every little effort. After carrying multiple ladders for the past year, I cannot imagine using anything else and have reccomended them to everyone I work with. 322327

These are excellent. They appear to be well made and very sturdy. I will certainly purchase more. Much easier to work with than ratchet straps and they mount right on the rack very easily. They are larger and better built than the picture suggests. 350203

I've had my Trac Rac for more than 8 years and I just purchased the ratchets. . . and they are fantastic. They are the easiest ratchets I've ever used, and I've owned a bunch! I'll use them for securing lumber loads and my kayaks. Awesome product! 404565

Awesome! I would highly recommend them. Was a little hard to justify the expense for a couple of ratchet straps but after one year of use I can say I would not hesitate to buy them again. Huge time and frustration saver! 404955

Their Pro2 Truck Bed Ladder Rack # TA37001 does NOT require this mounting kit. I verified this with my contact at TracRac. I have linked the written installation instructions for you as well as some cargo control products that may be of interest. Generally speaking, mounting one tie down at each corner of the bed would allow for the most flexibility. Each strap can safely handle a load of 1167 lbs, or 2334 lbs per pair.
