BoatBuckle's second-generation bow tie-down strap bolts to the frame of your trailer and simplifies the securing and unloading of your boat. It is designed to keep constant tension on the strap and requires minimal ratcheting to secure your load. Instead of always having to find and store a tie-down strap that hooks to the tie-down anchors on the front of your boat, you will find that BoatBuckle's bow strap is always right where you need it. Just pull up on the hook and strap, attach the hook to the bow, and then operate the ratchet several times. No more dealing with extra webbing or looking for the tie-down strap. And when unloading, simply push the release button on the ratchet, free the hook from the bow, and let the strap retract back down into the ratchet.

Installation

This strap comes with the mounting hardware that you'll need to install it. It is recommended that you use anti-seize (LT37616 - sold separately) to ensure that the nut is properly tightened down over the bolt. You can mount the ratchet with the included bolt directly to the trailer frame or crossmember. If you need to angle the ratchet strap or move it a little farther off the frame, a universal mounting kit (IMF14254 - sold separately) is available.

Note: A bow tie-down should always be used along with a winch strap and a set of transom or gunwale tie-downs. All straps and cables should be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). To determine the maximum load, or break strength, of the strap, simply multiply the WLL by 3. The WLL is always one-third (1/3) of the maximum load.

As fare as the tie down it is fine, but the mounting bolts not so much first the bolts are 3 inches long ,(to long) i put the nut on by hand and put my wrenches on and started to tighten it and as soon as the locking thread got on the bolt thread it stopped and i could not turn it any more so i put my 1/2 dr air impact to it and it wouldn't move either way on or off ending up cutting off the bolt, poor quality bolt and nut ! 284643

The Boat Buckle was ok but the bolt that came with it broke off. It threaded on about a half inch and stopped. I tried tightening but the nut broke off .Also i started the nut by hand so it was not cross threaded. 267329

The product is a Christmas gift, and your business was recommended to me. The product was originally on back order, but was delivered well before it was expected. Very prompt service, and I will order from this site again. http://www.etrailer.com/static/images/pics/I/M/IMF14393_tn.jpg this site again. Many thanks! 232553

Great ratcheting tie-down design. The only problem I have with it is the bolt and self locking nut that come with it. You can easily screw the nut on until all threads in the nut are engaged, and then it gets tight, very tight. After a few more rounds you are looking for a cheater bar, then a power tool. The bolts are longer than necessary, so you have a lot of thread to tighten the nut onto. On the Stainless Steel bolt and nut, the threads gall and stop any further tightening. I replaced all bolts and nuts with Stainless Steel bolts and nuts, with lock washers, from a local big box hardware store. Because of the issues with the nuts and bolts, this one hour job wound up taking 4-5 hours, and was frustrating to do. I suggest the manufacturer change to issuing lock washers and stop using the self locking design they use now. It is a very real problem in installation. And, no, the three bolts and nuts I assembled were NOT cross threaded. I was able to get a full nut on each bolt by hand without problem before the self locking design tightened up. 127895

Product delivery went well making this purchase the right choice. The retractable tie-down strap is well made, easy to use and easy to install. I have two on the stern of my boat trailer that I like much so went with the bow tie-down. I travel long distances with my boat and I want to make sure the bow is secured to the trailer so there is no bouncing. A bow winch strap does not always do the job. Play it safe and get a bow tie-down. 104234

Seems to be a well-made, easy-to-use product that will allow both me and the wife to quickly attach and release our boat to the trailer. Hopefully it will hold up to the Florida elements (salt water, rain, heat, etc.) - great price and super fast shipping from Etrailer, my "go-to" source for all items of this sort. 62155

Review from a similar BoatBuckle G2 in Tie Down Straps

I can't believe that etrailer has done nothing in three years to address the problem of the mounting nuts and bolts being incorrect, and therefor useless. The bolt and nut have two different threads. I read where people had complained about this problem back as far as 2013 and yet etrailer has done nothing to fix the problem. I just received my boatbuckles and when I went to mount them I couldn't with the supplied hardware. I ended up going to a hardware store and spend around ten bucks to get the correct nuts and bolts to use to mount the buckles. I just can't understand why they're aware of the problem and continue to ship them with the incorrect fitting nuts and bolts. After about fifteen years of buying from etrailer, this is my last order. It's incomprehensible that they'd do this knowing the end user can't mount the parts without having to discard the parts they paid for in the package and have to go out and spend more money getting what you need to use the buckles. Unbelieveable! 247787

Update to my review: Kudos to etrailer for getting this problem corrected at the source. Ive been informed that etrailer has taken this problem back to the supplier, IMMI, and they are in the process of sorting and inspecting all product in house for this defect. IMMI will get it corrected and implement a permanent corrective action to prevent another recurrence in the future, and etrailer will begin to monitor customer feedback with these types of concerns. To their credit, IMMI has sent me some replacement nuts and bolts that came threaded together to show they were correct to replace the defective ones that came with the BoatBuckles I purchased. I guess everyone can make a mistake, its a good company that corrects it and makes it right with the customer. Two thumbs up for etrailer and IMMI. Ill continue to do business with them in the future.

After years of using conventional straps for my Bass Tracker, I decided to try these. They hold tight with just a couple of clicks and do not loosen at all. At the ramp it's one less thing to hassle with, just pop them loose and forget about them until it's time to strap down. Highly recommend. 503826

Great product. I installed them on my Ranger Boat trailer. Makes loading and unloading much easier and faster. When using crowded boat ramps it is courteous to get in or out as quickly as possible. These ratcheting tie-downs are simple and fast. They are very well made so you can tow safely and have the confidence that whatever you are towing is secure. 582273

Review from a similar BoatBuckle G2 in Tie Down Straps

I have had the Stainless Steel (SS) Boat Buckles for a year. They installed easily and perform flawlessly. I find them much more convenient and just as strong as any tie-down I've used with my 1500 lb. boat. Reviews on other websites indicated that the SS bolts used to install them suffered from galling. So I cut them shorter to eliminate excess threading, chamfered the cut end, polished them, used lithium grease as lube and STILL suffered galling on one of them during installation. I cut it off, bought a new matching bolt, repeated the steps and it went on fine. My boat is used in both salt and fresh water; the Boat Buckles have not suffered corrosion and work perfectly. I highly recommend them 309096

The stainless steel Boat Buckles I purchased from you last year work great. They are a LOT more convenient than traditional tie-down straps. The old straps left marks on the fiberglass transom because they had a metal buckle that rested against the transom. The Boat Buckles eliminate that problem and are always on the trailer. They tighten and release easily but hold securely. I purchased new stainless steel bolts for installation because the original boltsnuts galled before I could tighten them securely… even though I used lubricant on them before assembly. I had to cut them out with an angle grinder. The new SS bolts

Great service as usual from etrailer.com. Fit perfect on my Tracker 175 TXW. Disappointed in the product however. First off, the hardware is junk. The bolts have burrs and it was impossible to thread the nuts. Had to make a trip to Lowes to replace the bolts, which is ridiculous for a relatively expensive product to be supplied with such cheap hardware. Also surprised by how flimsy the plastic pieces are on the buckles. Makes you paranoid that they might break at any second when cranking down on the straps. I will be surprised if these hold up for more than one season. If I had to do it over I would buy something else. 602088

Review from a similar BoatBuckle G2 in Tie Down Straps

I've been using BoatBuckles for a few years with my drift boat and they are a great product. I purchased this set for my jet boat and the BoatBuckles themselves are great, but the included mounting hardware is worthless. The bolt will not thread-on beyond the end of the nut. I nearly had to cut the bolt off to remove it once the nut became jammed on the bolt. Bottomline, I had to spend $ to replace the SS nut and bolt in order to install them. It would have been a 5-star review if the included hardware actually worked. 394393

Love the retractable tie downs. Just put them on today. The only problem is that the bolts were too short. My trailer has a 2" square tube frame to mount the tie downs on. I had to go buy 3" bolts to put them on but that was no problem. 289026

Review from a similar BoatBuckle G2 in Tie Down Straps

I only gave this product 3 out of 5 stars because of the hardware associated with the boat buckles. I bought these to replace boat buckles on my boat trailer that were old and tired. I have always had great luck with these on my boat trailers and wouldn't replace them with anything else. The installation is normally extremely simple but not with this set. This set is the stainless version and it comes with stainless fine thread bolts and top lock nuts. I have had experience with fine thread stainless bolts before and knew their tendency for galling. I did not know how these top lock nuts would work with fine thread stainless and galling but I got out the antiseize anyway. I coated one bolt with antiseize and started installation very, very slowly. Heat started to build immediately every time you would turn the nut a few revolutions. I began the process of turning the nut a few times and then walking away for a while. Then I would come back and do it again. I made it half way and the bolt galled and completely locked down. Once this happens, it will not turn either direction. I knew this but tried anyway and ultimately had to cut the bolt off the trailer with a hacksaw. What a major pain! The instructions do not tell you anything about this problem either. I have experience with this issue and tried my best to prevent it and completely failed. The boat buckles are great. Do yourself a favor and throw the hardware in the trash. Get some coarse thread bolts and nylocks to replace the junk that comes with this product. You will thank me. 314672

The boat buckles are fine. Hopefully the manufacturer will get that hardware issue resolved. I am sure it rubs some people the wrong way. For me, I just changed the hardware and moved on.

I received the Boat Buckles....the cheapest I could find that were made of stainless steel.....I used them on my Jet-ski trailer that I had just installed the 5 ft galvanized bunk rollers on the carpeted bunks they were easy to install a little more difficult to adjust the rollers between the jet-ski hull chines but it worked out just perfect. Review from a similar BoatBuckle G2 in Tie Down Straps

I own a drift boat and was looking for a much easier way to secure the boat to the trailer. After doing some research, I liked the information which was available on etrailer.com. I purchased two pairs of gunwale tie down straps and mounted them permanently(bolted through the frame)to my trailer. I trailer my drift boat 3 days a week. It's a 6 mile round trip to the launch and back home. My pre-trip routine is very simple with these tie down straps. I ratchet each strap until it is tight and that's it. When I arrive at the boat launch, I release each strap with the simple push of a button on each strap. The gunwale hook and tie down strap retract smoothly back into the tie down mechanism just like a seat belt in a vehicle. To secure the boat to the trailer, you simply pull up on each gunwale hook and attach it to the gunwale. You then tension the tie down strap by ratcheting the mechanism. It's as simple as that. When I arrive back home, I park the trailer and release tension on each tie down while leaving the gunwale hooks attached. It's that easy. My 5 star rating is based on frequent usage without a failure of any kind. This is a quality product, very tough and durable. 327180
