Video Transcript for Trailer Weld-on Stake Pocket Spec Review

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this trailer Weld-On Six Gauge Steel Stake Pocket. Now, this is a utility trailer stake pocket that you can use on your truck or your trailer flatbed. It is designed, you can see, to accept standard two inch by four inch stakes, and it is a solid six gauge thick steel construction. Six gauge is about three sixteenths of an inch thick.

You can see it is a raw finish, so it's ideal for welding. A few specs on this, I'm gonna give you the inner dimensions of the bracket. So we'll start with the width of it. So the inside width is right at three and five eights inches wide. The depth on it, let's go up here, you can see it's one and five eights inches deep.

And the overall height on it is right at three inches tall. But that should do it for the review on this Trailer Weld-On Six Gauge Steel Stake Pocket.

This is a very high quality, well made product. It is exactly as described on the etrailer.com site. The price was very reasonable and it was shipped - and delivered - very quickly. I have had many stake body trucks and trailers and this would have worked excellently for its intended purpose as a stake pocket.

I will be using it to mount a stock front bumper on the rear of my Jeep Wrangler YJ by installing it sideways as a mounting bracket. Once drilled and mounted backwards and sideways (see pictures), the size I bought fits the ID of the bumper so it can be mounted over the bracket "tabs". I took a picture of the stock bumper mounted on the front to show how it mounts on the frame ends and held the stake pocket in place at the rear. The stake pocket tabs will slide inside the bumper which will then be bolted to it.

Although I'm not using it as designed it is an excellent solution for my application. Note to etrailer: custom bumper mounting hardware is hard to find. This stake pocket provides a solution and would make an excellent product marketing extension.

The specification of the item bought is as expected. I have not weld it to my hitch yet. Will do soon though.

by:

Well made, metal is same size and thickness that came on trailer. Would recommend to anyone needing to add more tiedowns on your trailer.

by:

This product works well and does what its suppose to do.

by:

This is heavy duty one

by:

Exactly as advertised. Good product

by:

Still working great with no problems.

by:

These pockets are heavy duty and match the original ones on my 25 foot goose neck trailer. The service was great, easy to order and got product on the second day after placing order.

by:

Works great for equipment tie down. I used to use channel iron, but it was not the right depth to allow the hook on a chain to pass through.

by:

These products are exactly what i needed and the costumer service at etrailer were exceptional. Told me when they were shipped and when the arrived all that i ordered was there. Excellent service!! I will be ordering for them again.
Thank you George and all the staff at etrailer.com!!!!

by:

Really appreciate the service. Received the Stake pockets within four days of the order.
Straight bends and no modification needed. Just welded them on and sent the trailer down the road with the customer.

by:

These have some decent thickness to them at almost 1/4'' but a little more care in bending them should take place as in getting the ends squared up at 90 degrees. Then the outside part is not exactly flat has a little bit of a W in it. Not too bad for the price though.

by:

Great product fast shipping. Great communication from seller

by:

Not very heavy duty definitely won't be installing on my utility trailer afraid they'll bend on first load

by:

Heavy Duty Stakes. I welded these to the side of my trailer and use them to anchor my Skidsteer to the trailer.

by:

The stake pockets of very good quality. I haven't had a chance to install them as of yet but in the next week or so I will. I would recommend these.

by:

Well made stake pockets.

by:

Quality part a competitive price!

by:

Great service with fast delivery.

Picket
holders are very beefy. They are quite a bit more stout than the current ones on my trailer.

by:

Nice & thick wall, bracket/pocket has a bit of a bow to it. I will have to set up in my shop press to square it up, perhaps should look into the Curt weld-on pocket.

by:

As advertised and worked great. etrailer is great

by:

Heavy duty

by:

These are just what we needed. They are very thick and will fit a 2x4 without modification. Excellent support for heavy loads.

by:

Did what it was supposed to do.

by:

Just what the front of my trailer was m issing.

  • Difference Between Stake Pockets
I believe you may have been referencing the Curt # C83072 and the etrailer # HW03-080 because the only stake pocket from Redline is the Stake Pocket Tie-Down Anchor # WFSPDR which has a D-ring and is much more than twice the Curt because it has a different application. Assuming that, the difference between the two stake pockets is simply the dimensions. The Curt # C83072 has inner dimensions of 3-3/4" long x 1-5/8" wide x 3" tall and has steel which is 3/16" thick, while the etrailer #...

  • Difference Between the Stake Pocket Tie-Down Anchor # WFSPDR and # T355
The Stake Pocket Tie-Down Anchor # WFSPDR and the Stake Pocket Tie-Down Anchor # T355 are made by different companies who use different manufacturing techniques so their prices are different. The higher rated one would be the one I would go with since it costs less. Both would work just fine with the # HW03-080.

  • Stake Pockets for Utility Trailer
We carry a number of stake pockets and you can choose the correct one for your application in terms of size and weld or bolt on. The bolt-on option is the CE Smith Stake Pocket # CE45004G which is 3-1/2" long x 1-1/2" wide x 2-1/2" tall, has a stake pocket opening of 3-1/2" wide x 1-1/2" deep and 3/8" diameter mounting holes. For weld on stake pockets there is the Curt # C83072 which is 4-1/8" long x 1-7/8" wide x 3" tall; the etrailer # HW03-080 which is 3-9/16" wide x 1-9/16" deep x...

  • Stake Pocket Recommendation for a Trailer to Install Trailer Sides
For a stake pocket that you could weld to the side of your trailer that would allow you to make your own walls for the trailer you could use the part # HW03-080. The inner dimensions of the stake pocket are 3-1/2" (w) x 1-9/16" (deep). This will fit a standard 2 x 4. For a bolt on application you would instead want the part # CE45004G. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.

  • How Many Weld-On Stake Pockets # HW03-080 to Install on Each Side of 12-Foot Trailer

In general 1 stake pocket per 3-foot section of trailer, or 4 per side in your case, should be sufficient for many applications but you will have to determine this for yourself.

  • Can Stake Pockets be Used on Trailers & Are Erickson Hide-A-Hook Anchor Screws Self-Tapping
Yes, you can add stake pockets to your trailer, and can either choose bolt-on stake pockets or a welded-on stake pocket.
