Video Transcript for Erickson E-Track Tie-Off with D-Ring Review

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Erickson E-Track tie-off with D-ring. It's 8 1/4 inches long by 2 inches wide, and offers a 1200 pound safe working load limit. Part number is E59143.Now this D-ring connection point is really gonna give you tons of adaptability with your E-Track system. You see it's designed just to clip right in. Gives us an 8 1/4 inch by 2 inch wide strap. Has full polyester webbing on it, so it's very similar to a seatbelt or a regular ratchet strap kind of material. You're gonna pull your lever down, you can see how that kinda opens that gate up.

It goes up in the track, bottom goes down. And it's just a matter of sliding It straight down. See, that's gonna give us a good fixed point. Allow us to attach our straps to with hooks, or even loop ropes through, that way we can get our items secured that way. Here's just one example of many different options you're gonna have on how to use your tie-outs. What we're gonna do is just place it in the E-Track, we're gonna secure a UTV here.

It's gonna be placed just in front of our tire. Of course it's gonna be very easy to get our hook connected there. Then we've got our strap connected to one here on the back side of the tire, just bringing it right up over the center to the front. Makes it really easy to get everything nice and secure. See, nice and taut. We get the rest of our tires done that same way, we'll be ready to head down the road. Now we've got a few different examples of tie-outs here, and we want to go over the differences between them, kinda give you an idea, compare a couple of them together. This is the one we've been looking at from Erickson, and you can see we've got almost a carbon copy of it here, this is from Titan.

Now I like the Titan stitching. You can see it's got that really nice diamond cross pattern, whereas with your Erickson, diamond pattern not quite as much stitching. The Erickson does have a little bit more room here for the D-ring to move. You don't see that with the Titan. But definitely the ring on the Erickson is more heavy duty than what we have with that Titan. The Erickson has a higher weight capacity, so that definitely makes a difference, that ring size being just a little bit larger in diameter.Next tie out we'll compare to is just gonna be the basic Erickson quick clip.

It's gonna secure the same way. This is the plate style, where they just kinda stack the plates together. The lever for the top's a little bit larger on this one than what we have on the Erickson. But you lose a little bit of flexibility. This is just gonna be pretty much fixed in this point. That's where your connection point's gonna be.Whereas with your Erickson, if you've got something that's rounded, or a little bit more contoured, you can see with those straps, really helps to get around items like that, to give us a little bit more flexibility. And that's gonna complete our look at the Erickson E-Track tie off with D-ring, part number E59143.

Modified this cargo trailer to haul RC airplanes(too big to fit in my pickup) and remove the upper deck to make it useful for hauling other items. This makes a truly utility cargo trailer. Numerous tie downs with Etrack is really great. I have other pics if your interested. I just purchased an enclosed car hauler and I plan on installing Etrack in it. Thanks for making great products ! 420966

Do you have a question about this Tie Down Anchor?

  • Tire Tie Downs for E-Track in an Enclosed Trailer for a Sports Car
  • For your trailer the tracks have openings that go front to back. To secure vehicle tires you would need the openings to run left to right like # E19135. Then you could use # 77314 which has e-track fittings. But we can make it work by using a couple of tie downs, # E59143, and ratchet straps such as # EM34416. If a vehicle has smaller or larger tires you would just place the tie downs in the appropriate spots on the tracks. Vehicles that are wider or narrower may still work on the same...

  • Recommended E-Track Rings and Tie-Down Straps for Harley-Davidson in Toy Hauler
  • For your Harley-Davidson, I understand the desire to properly secure it as I would want peace of mind when transporting mine as well. Either the Erickson E-Track Tie-Off w/ D-Ring - 2" Wide x 8-1/4" Long - 1,200 lbs # E59143 or the Erickson E-Track Tie Down Ring - 2,000 lbs # 59147 will work fine. You will not have anywhere near the weight capacity on the rings so it really can depend on your personal preference. I'd go with the # 59147 so there is no twist at the connection. For...

  • Best Versatile Tie-Down Options for a Cargo Trailer
  • I am not sure how many of the Erickson E-Track systems you have seen but it really is your best bet when it comes to versatility and functionality. Not only do they have the Horizontal E-Track, like the 8' part # E19135, but they also have Vertical E-Track like part # E19146. You could install both types of track on your cargo trailer (if it is enclosed) and then move the attachment points around by either using the Erickson E-Track Strap # EM59136 or using the Tie-Off w/ D-Ring # E59143...

  • Can self-Tapping Screws Be Used To Install E-Track In Toy Hauler With No Under Bed Access
  • If you are using self-tapping screws and attaching the part # E19135 8-foot rails to metal, you would be okay. If you are installing this into wood I would recommend making sure you have the right size fasteners for the 1/4 inch mounting holes, and that you have at least 3/4 inch depth for the screws to be fastened to. You should also use as many mounting holes as possible to attain the maximum strength needed. If you need end caps to cover the edge of the E-track on the floor of...

  • How to Install E-Track Cargo Control on Plywood Floor in Cargo Van
  • Erickson E-Track Trailer Cargo Control tracks come in various lengths, such as the 5-foot horizontal track, part # E19148. We also offer a 2-foot length, part # EM59150, and a 8-foot length, part # E19135. To install them in your cargo van on its plywood floor you can use either galvanized or stainless steel nuts and bolts to avoid issues with rust. The plywood layer on the floor of your van by itself may not be strong enough to hold the E-Tracks. To be safe you need to find points...

  • Where to Install E-Tracks in Enclosed Trailer Carrying Polaris ATV and Motorcycles
  • Since you will be using your E-Track system, part # E19148, for transporting more than one type of vehicle, you will want to try to find mounting locations that will work for all of them. The main consideration for deciding where to mount the E-Tracks is to select locations that provide access to structural components, such as wall studs and floor supports. These structural elements of your trailer will serve as the backbone of your E-Track system. It is important that the tracks mount...

  • Recommendations for Securing a 900 Pound Harley-Davidson Motorcycle to a Trailer
  • There are probably some sort of fancy anchors that you could get from a hardware store but I have a better, more secure and safe option for you. You can install some E-track such as # E19148 using numerous fasteners which will better distribute the weight. Then you would just need some D-rings for the tie downs, # E59143, and straps to secure to the handle bars # 06303 (to avoid any scuffs to the chrome). Then it is just a matter of using ratchet straps such as # EM05710 is you need some.

  • Recommended Vertical E-Track System For Enclosed Trailer Walls
  • We offer a Vertical E-Track System that may be just what you are looking for. This is a 4 ft long track designed to install on the walls of your enclosed trailer. This system is made of 12-gauge zinc coated steel and measures 4 ft long x 3-1/2 inches wide. It has a maximum load capacity of 6,000 lbs. To order this system you will need part # E19146. The D-Ring for the system I recommend is part # E59143. This is a 2 inch x 6 inch strap with a D-ring attached. This has a maximum...

  • Optimal Direction of Pull When Using E Track
  • In order to achieve the full capacity of the ratchet straps and the track, the direction of the pull should be parallel to the direction that the e track is running. How much the capacity would be diminished by pulling 90 degrees to the side will depend on the weight of the load. If the load is close to the capacity of the straps, pulling out 90 degrees could damage the clip that locks the strap into the track or possibly damage the track itself. You may also be interested in purchasing...

  • Should the Tires Sit on Top of the E-Track System When Installed in a Trailer
  • The E-track system can install any way you would like on your trailer. It is common to install the E-Tracks so the wheels of a vehicle are on top of the E-track. This allows you to use wheel nets, like part # EM58523, that attach directly to the E-track system. Many wheel nets typically have only one hook in front of the tire and one hook behind the tire. Installing the E-track system so the wheels are on top of the track rather than on the side provides more stability when transporting...

  • Installing E-Track on an Enclosed Trailer For Securing a Grizzly 660
  • You would want the E-tracks like part # E19135 to be on the outside of the wheels of your ATV so that it would be easier to secure it. To secure the track I would recommend using the backing plate part # BPEZ. I attached an install video that details how to use the backing plates to install E-tracks on the floor of a trailer. For D-rings to use for tie-downs you would want the part # E59143. Then for tie-downs the ratchet straps part # EM31352 would work great.

If you needed a 5 foot section you would also want the part # E19148. For a D-ring that is designed to fit the E-track you would want the part # E59143.

  • Can the Erikson E-Track System Be Used In An Aluminum Utility Trailer
  • The Erickson E-Track system will work great in your aluminum utility trailer, but you will want to put a layer between the E-Track and the aluminum of your trailer. This layer will help prevent corrosion cause by contact of dissimilar metals. This layer can consist of almost any material, such as wood, rubber, or plastic. For your motorcycle, I recommend installing the tracks on either side of the motorcycle to provide multiple tie-down points in order to keep it secure. But if you only need part of the trailer equipped then I would put one track on each side of the bike. • Can I Use The Vertical E-Track E19146 In The Horizontal Position For My Covered Cargo Trailer
  • My contact at Erickson confirmed that you are definitely able to use the Vertical E-Track # E19146 in the horizontal position. The advantage for you is that it will mount to the space you need it to fit. The only disadvantage of using the Vertical Track # E19146 is that there are less anchor points to hook into than the Horizontal E-Track, part # EM59150. • The working load limit for the E-Track system like the part # E19135 that you referenced is 2,000 lbs. There isn't a set method required for tightening a load to the E-Track. Basically you would want to use a properly rated strap for the weight of the item and use your discretion to secure it in whatever manner works best. For a way to secure a strap to the E-Track you would want the E-Track D-Ring part # E59143. Depending on how the E-Tracks were attached to the wall and the material...

  • Securing the Erickson E-Track # E19148 to 3/4 inch plywood should be sufficient. To secure the track to the plywood, you can use screws, or rivets. Using 1/2 inch screws would be a good length with 3/4 inch plywood. You will want to attach screws at least every other mounting hole. For tie downs and straps I would recommend either the E-Track Tie-Off Ring # 59131, or E-Track 2 inch D-Ring, part # E59143. Also available is the Erickson E-Track Strap with Ratchet, part # EM59136.
