This D-ring with a spring-loaded latch lets you create an extra anchor point for looped tie-downs on your trailer, truck or van. Bolt to most flat, solid surfaces. Perfect for securing push mowers, tillers, and other lightweight cargo.

Specs:
Note: Tie-down anchors must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the anchors being used. For example, if you are using anchors with a WLL of 100 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 400 lbs, then you need at least 4 anchors to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use anchors in pairs.

Hey guys, it's Randy here at etrailer.com, and we get questions all the time from our customers about different ways to secure down cargo in trailers. Today, we're looking at one from Cargosmart. This is going to be a gated D-ring. This will allow you to slide looped straps in, it'll allow you to slide chain links in if you're going to be using something like that. We've used a couple of three-eighths inch carriage bolts here to secure it down to the floor. Now, all in all, it has a nice sturdy feel to it.
It has a good finish. It does have a 266-pound safe working load limit. So, that safe working load limit; you want to be sure not to exceed that on what you're strapping down or at least use enough of them to secure down the items you intend on transporting. The finish is a yellow zinc, completely covers the whole thing there. It's going to do a great job, even if we are going to be using this outside, to help resist a lot of the corrosion that we can encounter. Now, I think there are some situations this is going to work out really well.
You can use it in any application that you want. I think if you're going to be running ropes from one side of something to the other, it will allow you to get those in and then cinch everything down. Outside of that, if you're thinking more along straps and connecting something to it, just one end, I like the other option that Cargosmart offers. This is a three-eighths inch D-ring with a removable pin. So that pen fits right through this same bracket, just like this, and we've got a clip to secure it in.
Now this gives us a 1,667 pound break space. We're looking at more than five times what this one offers. I think having this handy will help you on those heavier loads, for sure. And I don't think you're losing much from this one other than the actual opening size. Now, as far as the installation goes, you'll choose, of course, the location you plan on using your attachment point. We're going to be going through the plywood floor here in our trailer, so we're going to use a couple of three- eighths inch carriage bolts.
That's going to match up with the squares there, and carriage bolts will give you a nice flush kind of a look once you're done. Using the nylon lock nut down on the bottom, we're also going to be using a flat washer down there. It's going to spread that energy out and it's really going to help to prevent us pulling that nut up through the floor. So we're just going to hold our bracket in place here. We're going to mark our holes and we'll get them drilled out. For this, we'll use a three-eighths inch to match our bolt size. Now, with the holes drilled out, we just want to place our ring down, place our bracket over and we'll line up the holes and place the carriage bolts down through. You go down to the underside and get them secured. Now we'll put our flat washer on again. That's to spread out that energy. Put our lock nut on there. Now definitely use a lock nut. If you're not going to use a nylon lock nut, then use a lock washer. That way, these won't back out on you. Do the same thing for the other one.As you can see, just about any type of connection strap, anything like that, is going to work fine on here. Even with closed loops or ropes, if you wanted to run them that way, they can just slide into that gate that's on the side. You can see that gate doesn't open all that far, but it's only a 266-pound load, right So we're not exactly trying to get huge ropes or chains through it. You can see it's going to do a great job of securing our lighter items..
Great product, great service and fast s hipping.
