This steel D-ring creates an attachment point for tie-down straps and bungee cords wherever you need cargo control. The recessed design allows you to roll cargo over the ring and is zinc-plated for corrosion resistance.

Features:

  • Tie-down provides a solid point to secure your cargo with straps or bungee cords
  • D-ring rotates 90-degrees so you can attach straps from multiple angles
  • Recessed design allows cargo to slide over the ring without interference
  • Zinc-plated steel construction resists corrosion and retains its strength through repeated use
  • Simple, bolt-on installation
    • Mounting hardware not included
    • Optional backing plate provides greater support than if the anchor was mounted alone (sold separately - BP05)

Specs:

  • Maximum load (break strength): 5,000 lbs
  • Working load limit: 1,600 lbs.
  • Anchor:
    • Bezel dimensions: 4-1/2" wide x 4-7/8" tall
    • Ring diameter: 1/2"
    • Inner ring diameter: 1-3/8"
    • Recess dimensions: 3-3/8" wide x 3/4" deep
    • Bolt hole dimensions: 3/8" wide x 3/8" tall
  • 1-Year limited warranty

Note: Tie-down anchors must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the anchors being used. For example, if you are using anchors with a WLL of 100 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 400 lbs, then you need at least 4 anchors to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use anchors in pairs.

  • Is Stainless Steel Tie Down D-Anchor Needed for Install in Aluminum Bed
Hey Mark, so we don't have a stainless steel version of the Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor part # RR05 but it sounds like you are worried about dissimilar metal causing corrosion so what you could do is use this but put some gardening plastic between the mounting plate and the aluminum and you'd be fine. That's what we do here when we install steel gooseneck hitches in aluminum truck bed.

  • Comparing Brophy and etrailer D-Ring Tie Down Anchors
Based solely on price and capacity the etrailer D-ring anchor part # RRING-R6000 and the Brophy part # RR05 do not make perfect sense but they are made by two different companies and sometimes we are able to get better deals on things from one company. What I do really like more about the Brophy is the square bolt holes that allow you to use a carriage bolt that will hold itself in place when tightening whereas the etrailer has round holes and would require someone to hold a wrench to...

  • Safety Chains and Cargo Tie Downs for 6 x 10-Foot Flat Deck Utility Trailer
Thank you for the photo of your utility trailer that appears to already have safety chains installed near the coupler. Safety chains should be selected based on trailer weight and on the length you need. If your trailer has a 3500-lb-rated axle then chains like 60-inch 5K Curt part # C19749 would provide sufficient capacity and their latching hooks will make for easy attachment. If you prefer shorter chains you might prefer the 27-inch 5K # 2118-605-04. For a weld-on bracket you might...

  • Can Recessed Trailer D-Ring Tie Down RR05 Be Installed on a 3/4 Inch Plywood Trailer Floor
You can mount the Trailer D-Ring tie down, # RR05, in a plywood floor but you will need to add the backing plate, # BP05, for each one for more support. The backing plate will better disperse the stress on the floor so it does not get damaged.

  • Is Backing Plate Required When Installing the Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor # RR05
A backing plate isn't necessarily required when installing the Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor # RR05, but it will add additional support. I recommend going ahead and installing a backing plate for peace of mind and to be extra safe. The backing plate that you will need is listed as part # BP05 on our site. Some installation videos have been linked for you to check out as well.

  • Should E-Track be Used in Bed of Trailer that Will Haul Dirt or Rocks
If you are going to be carrying dirt and rocks in your trailer you really aren't going to want to put E-tracks on the floor. They'll get full of debris like you mentioned and would make shoveling out of the trailer much more frustrating. A better option would be a flush mounted tie down anchor like the aprt # RR05.

  • What Diameter Hole Needs to be Cut for the Brophy D-Ring Recessed Tie Down
We recommend using the Brophy Backing Plate, # BP05, with the Brophy D-Ring Tie Down, # RR05. The diameter of the hole in the backing plate is 3-3/8 inches. The backing plate will provide a more secure installation and give the tie down extra support. You could install the tie down without using the backing plate, but you would still want to cut a hole that is 3-3/8 inches in diameter to ensure the recessed portion will fit. The recessed part of the tie down measures 3/4 inch deep. You...

  • Recommended Enclosed Trailer Size And Harley Street Glide Special Biker Bar
From my research more than likely the smallest available enclosed trailer you can get both to fit in is a 8.5 x 24 foot. The next smallest is 8.5 x 16 but the two Harleys will probably be a tad too long to fit into that size enclosed trailer. Your best option is to measure your bikes sitting next to one another (with the handle bars positioned to not rub one another) and measure the length to make sure you get an enclosed trailer that is wide enough. Those were just the two sizes I could...

  • Using a Backing Plate for D-Ring Placement on a Trailer
The backing plate BP05 will definitely make for a stronger tie down point, especially if you are not able to bolt the tie down ring to the trailer frame. If you can mount the ring through the frame at all four points, then you would not need a backing plate for installation. If you use washers and do not mount through the frame of the trailer, you must be aware that the installation will not handle as large a load, due to the reduced mounting surface.

  • Are Brophy Trailer D-Ring Tie Downs # RR05 Suitable for Use on a Car Trailer
According to my contact at Brophy, their # RR05 Trailer D-Ring Tie Down has a working load limit of 1600-lbs and a break strength of 5,000-lbs. (Working Load Limit or WLL is the maximum burden that should be put on the device in daily use.) This makes this sturdy 2-1/2-lb tie down perfect for use on a car hauler trailer. In a typical trailer configuration with four or more of these tie downs being used at the same time you will have at least 20,000-lbs of capacity for securing the loaded...

  • Recommended Recessed D-Ring Tie Downs For Trailer Floor
The Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor - Bolt-On # RR05 are rated for 1600 lbs each and will work very well for your 1933 Ford Hotrod. The backing plate is sold separately and is part # BP05. I've attached a photo with the dimensions to assist. Hardware in not included so you can get the specific length needed to accommodate your trailer floor. I recommend getting Grade 5 or better hardware.

  • Should D-Ring Tie Downs be Placed in the Center of 1 Board or Between 2 Boards on a Trailer Floor
Since a 2x6 board is large enough for the whole D-ring tie down # RR05 you could go either way. But if you decide to put it between two boards I would center it between the two boards so that it is secured evenly. I also recommend using backing plate # BP05 to better disperse the weight on the floor.

  • How to Secure a Vehicle on an 8 X 18-foot Wooden Deck Car Hauler Trailer
To secure your vehicle on the wood deck of your 8 X 18-foot car hauler trailer I suggest you consider straps rather than chains. Straps offer lighter weight, reduced chance for scratching the vehicle and are often easier to use than chains. They also will not corrode like chains. The Dutton-Lainson 40-inch cables you referenced are intended for use with tow bars for flat-towed vehicles. We have better options for you. For example, we offer the Erickson Car Tie Down, part # 58503. It can...

In order to mount the Brophy Recessed Trailer Tie-Down D-Ring # RR05, you will need a hole that is 3-3/8 inches in diameter. We recommend you use the backing plate system if you are not attaching this to either a trailer framer or trailer with a steel bed.The Brophy # RR5K includes the backing plate and all necessary hardware. I have attached a short video showing an installation of the tie-down kit.

  • How to Carry 2 Vespa 300 Scooters with a 32ft Class C Motor Home
Your best option for carrying your Vespa 300 scooters with your Class C motor home is to pull a small trailer. We do not have any hitch mounted motorcycle carriers that will allow you to carry both scooters at the same time. We have everything you need to equip a simple cargo trailer for carrying both scooters. A few parts you will want to look into are wheel chocks like part # TWSPWC3BT (1 per scooter), tie down rings like part # RR05, and tie down straps, like # EM31352.

  • Will a 3-1/4 Hole Saw be Enough for Installing Recessed Trailer D-Ring Tie Down # RR05
You really would need a 3-3/8 inch diameter hole. A 3-1/4 inch hole would leave you about 1/8 of an inch too small. If you have a router, you could use a straight cutting bit to slightly enlarge the hole enough to get the tie down to fit.' The # BP05 backer plate is also recommended.

  • Weight Capacity Rating of Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor RR05
The Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor # RR05 from our inventory that I checked was stamped with its 5000-lb break strength rating. The part's 1600-lb working load limit (WLL) rating is not indicated. My contact at Brophy mentioned that break strength ratings SHOULD always marked on all cargo items like tie downs but it is always possible that this stamping process could have been erroneously omitted on a specific production run. Brophy imports these items (they are not made in-house) so there...

I spoke with my contact at CE Smith and unfortunately they do not have a pull rating for the tie-down bracket # CE26214G. However, he did say that because the brackets are 7 gauge steel, 2 inches wide you should have no problems securely tying down a full-sized ATV to your trailer. • Where Should I Mount D-Ring Tie Down Points In Relation To The Front And Rear Of The Tire?
Hey Dwayne that is a great question. Generally, we would want the tie down points to be in line with the front and rear of the tire. So the # EM58522 straps would hang straight down and connect to the # RR05 D-ring. You can also angle them forward if needed. It really depends on the trailer, the tire and how much space you have to work with. There really is no rule of thumb for how far away the tie down point can be, so if you have to go a foot away from the tire you definitely can. I...
