Biker Bar in use

With B&W's Biker Bar, it's never been easier to secure your motorcycle for travel. Just bolt the latching plate to the floor of your trailer, and clamp the included bar to your bike's frame. Once both components are appropriately mounted, simply drive your motorcycle onto your trailer, over the latching base plate, and the bar will automatically latch into the base. No straps or wheel chocks are needed.

Not only does this motorcycle tie-down system make it fast and easy to connect your bike to your trailer, but it also makes it safer and more secure. Because there are no tie-down straps, there are no buckles or hooks to rub against your bike, potentially scratching your paint or trim. And because the bar attaches to your motorcycle's frame, this system provides more stability than tie-downs alone. In fact, the Biker Bar system is designed not only to secure your bike, but also to create a natural ride for it during trailering. Once hooked up to the latching plate in your trailer, your motorcycle's suspension is effectively linked with the suspension system of the trailer, eliminating undo stress on your bike.

Installation

Installation of the Biker Bar is simple. The bar itself clamps to your bike's tubed frame, just behind the downtubes. Be sure to clear any potential obstacles, such as hydraulic lines or wiring harnesses, that could get caught between the clamps and the frame. The clamps on the bar are lined with neoprene to prevent scratches to your bike's frame.

Once you have the bar securely clamped to the frame of your bike, ride the bike onto the trailer to determine the location where you want the bike to attach. Mark that spot on the floor of your trailer so that you can bolt down the latching plate. You will have to drill into your trailer's floor to attach the plate.

The final setup step is to adjust the height of the latching base. Once the base is bolted to the trailer's floor, ride the bike over it until the bar is directly in front of the base. Measure the distance from the middle of the bar to the trailer's floor. Your bike's suspension must be slightly compressed while latched down to appropriately stabilize the bike during transport. So you must remain sitting on the motorcycle while taking this measurement. Once you have this measurement, remove the bar from the bike and place it in the latching base. Adjust the height of the base until the bar is the same distance from the floor as it was when on the motorcycle. The base adjusts in 1/4" increments, so the height may not be exact. As long as the bar is within 1/4" of your initial measurement, setup is complete.

Video Transcript for B and W Tie Down Anchors - Trailer Tie-Down Anchors - BWMC2303 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the BMW Biker Bar Motorcycle Tie Down System for trailers. This is designed for Harley Davidson motorcycles. This motorcycle tie down system will secure your bike to your trailer. There's no straps or wheel chocks needed. The automatic latching device right here is very fast and secure. Basically you'll bolt this latching base plate down to your trailer floor using this included hardware, mount this clamping bar to your bike.

Notice what's nice here is on the clamping bar it has neoprene lined clamps so it won't scratch the finish. You go underneath your bike and you just twist this to open it up to what width you need. Once you get it around there go ahead and tighten it down to where it snugs up onto your bike. Then what you do is go to your latching plate right here, push down on this side, and push down on this side. What that'll do is open the latches, and it leaves a little tab right in here. With this attached to your bike, as you drive on up, the bar will go right in there and it'll push down.

You'll can see it'll automatically latch and it'll do the same over here. Once they latch into place it holds your bike upright in place. It automatically engages to clamp around your bar. Now, if you want to release it, when you go to back your bike out to use it, all you have to do is, as you're sitting on your bike push down with your foot on this side all the way down, and the same way right here. As you push it all the way down it will release those latching mechanisms and then you can back your bike right off and ride your bike around as needed.

I do want to show you, turn this to the side just so you can see how the latching mechanism works. Again, as you push down on both of them it opens it up. Now, when your motorcycle is hooked to this it'll become an extension of your trailer suspension for a smoother ride. When the bike's secured the suspension remains slightly compressed for rigid stability and minimal stress on the suspension components. The mounting hardware right here, or the base plate, is included. There is drilling required to mount these base plates to the underside of the trailer floor.

Then, using these 2 large bolts you'll bolt through the base plate onto these. Then what's nice about that, if you're not using this you can just unscrew that and remove this and then have full use of the whole trailer floor. This part is made in the USA. A few specs on this again. The application is designed for Harley Davidson motorcycles. It is designed to fit the frame tube diameter of 1 1/4 inches up to 1 3/8 inches and the frame width can be adjusted to fit anywhere from 4 1/2 inch width up to 7 inch width. Again, this latching base plate, I don't know if you can see it, it has many holes here. It is adjustable from 3 inches to 4 1/2 inches from the trailer floor to get you the correct height so this clamping bar will line up to the latching mechanism on the base plate. One last note is this biker bar is designed to secure your motorcycle that's pointed in the direction of travel only. It comes with a nice set of detailed instructions. That should do it for the review of the BMW Biker Bar Motorcycle Tie Down System for trailers for Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Absolutely love you it, I don’t need to use tie down straps anymore, just mount the bar under the bike drive it in and lock it in and on my way. I driven back and forth to Florida twice for bike October fest and last March for bike week, the bike didn’t move an inch. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to buy best thing ever 683207

The product came with clear instructions and it is made of quality material. The install took about 30 minutes and the bike rolled in and locked just as advertised. My 2006 Street glide is in the trailer and test tow showed no movement. Other systems allow your rear wheel to bounce and move side to side, this will not. I like it. 500238

I bought this for my 2015 street glide. Its simple to install and works perfectly. I have made 2 seperate 1000 mile round trips and no issues. Rugged and sturdy. Beats using straps for sure. Saves your paint from strap flappin or any other issues. People see it and think its the coolest thing ever when i stop for gas. 604583

I have a brand new Harley CVO and bought a new trailer to haul it to the mountains on the West Coast. I needed to install "D" rings for tie-downs, or get the Biker Bar. I opted for the Biker Bar and it has proven to be a fantastic decision. The ease of loading and unloading the bike makes it a joy to trailer. It is stable and secure (my bike weighs 960lbs). I have been recommending it to my friends ever since the 1st 5000 mile road trip. I am a research scientist for 3M, so you can believe that I had reservations, but they have all evaporated with use. Outstanding product. Well designed, produced and executed. 611051

We had to modify our trailer because we haul 2 bikes. Once that was done it was just a matter of driving onto trailer and it latches and your ready to go! We trailer our bikes to the mountains going around curves not once did the bike lean. In the past we've had straps to break. Wish we had found out this before. Would definitely recommend......We were unsure about the installation and called eTrailer, they were more than happy to answer our question. And told us to call back if we had any more concerns. 391885

Let me keep this short, I installed the BWMC2301 hitch in my 2014, 16 foot trailer. this is where it get's good. I rear ended a line of stopped cars on Interstate I - 10 East leaving Pensacola FL. I was driving a 2003 Chevy dually towing the trailer with my 2016 H-D Street Glide inside. Traveling at 45 miles an hour and coming to a dead stop was not on my list of things to do that day. I totaled the first car, The second car had a smashed in rear end as so did the car in front of it. I am here to tell you that my bike did not move an inch. If I had been using my bike tie downs that bike would have launched it's self into the back of my truck, This product is top notch and easy to use. Highly recommended! Stitch 527632

I bought three of these to use on a open car hauler type trailer I had made to trailer my three Harleys, two Wide Glides & a Road Glide Ultra. The trailer is 20' long which includes a 30" dovetail. It has two 3500 lb axels and is 82" wide inside fender to fender. The Biker Bar performs as advertised. No need for tie down straps. I trailered these bikes 900 miles from Missouri to Colorado and back, along I-70. I-70 in spots, especially going through Denver can be pretty rough. Lots of dips and bumps across all the overpasses. The Biker Bar held the bikes great with no problems. I used some cheap wheel chocks from Harbor Freight on the front wheels to keep the front wheel from flopping, but found out they were not really necessary when the Biker Bar is adjusted properly. Will not use them on the next trip. The Biker Bar is easy to install, just read the instructions and watch the video etrailer provides. B&W you could make the install a one man job if you provided a 3/16" dia hole in the plates that mount under the trailer. This would allow you to use a temporary screw to hold the plate in place while you drill the holes for two permanent bolts. I used a drywall screw and a fender washer to hold the plate in place. Also the two 5/8" dia bolts that hold the Main plate, are not long enough to go through a 1-1/2" board. I had to buy new bolts an inch longer. Other than that, I really am pleased with the "Biker Bar". 428072

Best invention since the light bulb. Installed in 20 mins and loaded the bike in 2 mins. I have seen this product at a bike rally and had to have one. No more straps.... I have experienced $5,500 in damage when my buddies bike fell over onto mine in my trailer that was secured by straps, if I owned a biker bar then I never would have needed to file a claim on my insurance. 255131

Best damn motorcycle mount HANDS DOWN!!! Yes it’s expensive. But ask yourself, why would you tie down a 20/30k bike with a ten dollar strap. I hauled three bikes in an enclosed trailer 1100 miles and they didn’t move at all. Great product. You won’t be disappointed. 602963

Review from a similar B and W Biker Bar in Tie Down Anchors

Just finished a trip to Maine using the biker bar. I love the way it you just drive the bike into it and your bike is essentially secure. I say essentially because on my old bike there is always going to be oil on the frame and tightening the bar sufficiently to keep it from sliding fore & aft is difficult with the short tightening handle. I almost messed up some wires that ran along the frame during my initial install & set up as the bar slid aft. Even with my oily frame it works rock solid at keeping the bike from leaning left or right. I threw 1 'Shockstrap' from etrailer to the back to the trailer just to ensure there would be no movement in the event of heavy braking. My buddy used 4-point strap method. It took him a lot of time to get his bike adjusted correctly and then he was re-adjusting them every time we stopped. The Biker Bar makes it easy to load and saves time! 547478

I was immediately contacted by etrailer and was pleasantly surprised with the kindness and willingness to help me figure out what happened. I now have my biker bar and couldn’t be happier. Will definitely be doing more business with etrailer! 725387

I just bought my second set for a few friends . Been using biker barz for 3 years now and done multiple 2000 mile trips and they dont skip a beat. I recently just trailered my bike to the dealership and the whole service staff came out to see such a great device and were gonna switch there whole trailer fleet over to them after they have had multiple instances of damaged bikes cause of loose or broken straps or bikes just secured wrong. i also bolt mine down to my shop floor in the winter and gaurentees that it doesnt fall over during winter storage . A MUST if you value your bike and piece of mind. 718580

Just drove 500 miles from Galveston, TX to Meridian, MS on way back to Indiana, bikes are nicely secured and did not fall over. Bought these and had shipped to campground in Galveston cause on way there we broke 4 etrack straps and the bike fell twice causing broken mirror, scratched paint and windshield damage. Learned our lesson not to trust straps and tie-downs. We bought two of the units and it took about 2.5hrs to install both. Word of warning, bikes with lowering kits may have difficulty driving into trailer based on ramp angle. Ours bottoms out and bar must be installed in trailer. 664265

i bought 2 of these for my Honda Fury and Yamaha Roadliner as they both fit the frame. The Fury goes on with no problems. The Roadliner the kickstand doesn't go all the way up. After reading the instructions BikerBar states that this may happen, even with a HD. I used the BikerBar for the Yamaha and went over 2,800 miles … from LI to Key Largo and back. BUT I did not use just the BikerBar. I also used straps to secure the bike as I didn't feel 100% knowing how bad the roads and traffic can be particularly here in the Northeast. I do like how they hold the bike in an upright position, but im not sure I would solely trust just the BikerBar to hold the bike. It took only a couple more minutes and a couple of straps to put my mind at ease. 634259

  • Does B&W Biker Bar Motorcycle Tie-Down System Work With BMW Bikes?
  • We can offer you a way to transport your BMW bike, but the B&W Biker Bar Motorcycle Tie-Down Systems (# BWMC2301, # BWMC2302 and # BWMC2303) are designed to fit Harley-Davidson motorcycle frames. Since you always transport, I recommend the CE Smith Motorcycle Rail, # CE26110PG, which will create a platform with two-inch sidewalls for your motorcycle. You would still need to use Ratcheting Motorcycle Tie-Down Straps, # EM05710 to secure the bike. To make loading your motorcycle onto your...
