TireMinder

This TireMinder TPMS monitors the pressure and temperature level of the tires on your RV, motorhome, 5th wheel, motor coach, or trailer. It can also be used on your carrier-mounted spare tire. The system utilizes sensors that attach to the valve stems of your tires. When a tire sensor detects an anomaly, it will wirelessly transmit an alert to the TireMinder digital monitor. Your monitor will emit an audible alert to notify you of an issue and will display details regarding the anomaly. A signal booster is included to provide a constant, strong transmission, and to eliminate electronic interference.

Initial Setup

The TireMinder TPMS is easy to set up and includes all mounting hardware and tools for installation. First, attach the TireMinder sensors to the valve stems of your vehicle's tires. Next, install the Rhino signal booster in a protected area near the midpoint of your full towing setup. Use the included holder to set up the LCD monitor on your windshield or dashboard so you can monitor your tires while you drive. Finally, assign the tire sensor positions through the monitor's Learning Mode. Once the tire sensors have been recognized by the monitor, you're ready to travel.

TireMinder Monitor

App Diagram

  1. Antenna (Raised) - The multidirectional antenna always needs to be extended when the TireMinder A1A is in use. When paired with the Rhino signal booster, the extended antenna helps eliminate electronic interference.
  2. Indicator Light - The light bar will shine red when the monitor is learning a sensor location and when the sensor is experiencing issues with a selected tire. The light will turn green when the monitor and sensors are paired and reporting no issues.
  3. Tire Information Reading - Readout of tire information refreshes every 6 seconds. Tire pressure information can be displayed as psi, kPa, and BAR. Tire temperature information can be displayed as either Fahrenheit or Celsius. The Auto-Search option allows the monitor to scroll between all of your sensors automatically and display the pressure of each in 6-second intervals.
  4. Current Tire Selection - The circles indicate the position of your tires. A dark circle means that the tire is currently selected for displaying information. A white circle means that the tire is paired and is transmitting information, but is not selected.
  5. Current Mode - Displays the current operating mode. If "M" is displayed, then Monitoring Mode is activated. This mode receives updates and alerts, and will be your primary screen after initial setup. If "L" is displayed, then Learning Mode is activated for use during tire sensor installation.
  6. Leaking Indicator - There are 2 indicator symbols that show up when the tire sensors detect a loss of pressure:
    Leaking Icons
    A. Rapid Air Loss (Blow Out) - This indicator displays when a tire loses 3 or more psi in 2 minutes or less. This generally occurs when the tire is severely punctured by a large, sharp object causing rapid air loss.
    B. Semi-Rapid Air Loss - This indicator displays when a tire loses 6 or more psi in 2 to 10 minutes. This generally occurs when a nail or other sharp object punctures your tire, causing semi-rapid air loss. This indicator may also be shown when there's a rapid drop in temperature causing a decrease in pressure.
  7. Down Button - Use to move across the screen to select the tire or option you want.
  8. Power Button - Press and release to turn on the receiver. If the monitor doesn't light up when this button is pressed and released, the monitor needs to be charged. To turn off, press and hold until the screen goes blank.
  9. Measuring Unit - Description of current measuring unit. Primarily displays the tire pressure in psi and temperature in Fahrenheit.
  10. Battery Life Indicator - Shows how much battery life is left in the monitor. Under normal use, the monitor will run for over 2 weeks before needing a recharge. If the last bar disappears, the unit will beep multiple times and the battery icon will flash with the word "Monitor" underneath it. If not plugged in, the monitor will shut down completely.
  11. Temperature Indicator
    Temperature Icon
This indicator will flash when a tire's internal temperature exceeds 167 F (75 C). If the temperature exceeds 185 F (85 C), it will remain flashing and it will beep. Whenever you see this alert, pull off the road and find the cause of the alert. This alert is usually triggered by a stuck brake caliper or an overheated bearing.
  12. Pressure Indicator
    Pressure Icons
    A. Normal Pressure Loss - This indicator will flash when a tire's pressure has dropped 15 percent below its baseline pressure. If a tire drops 25-50 percent below its baseline pressure, the alert will look the same as above except it will be half full. If a tire drops below 50 percent, the icon will show empty. Whenever you see any of these alerts, stop at the next rest area and check the tire that is triggering the alert.
    B. High Pressure Alert - This indicator will flash when a tire's pressure rises 20 percent above its baseline pressure. The alert will repeat after one hour unless the condition is corrected. Whenever you see this alert, carefully bring your vehicle to a stop and check the tire that is triggering the alert. If the high pressure is within safe tire pressure limits, you may need to adjust your baseline pressure.
  13. Up Button - Use to move across the screen to select the tire or option you want.
  14. Select Button - Use to confirm option or select tire.

Multiple Wheel Layouts

Wheel Layouts

The TireMinder A1A TPMS is able to configure multiple wheel layouts and display them on the TireMinder monitor. The A1A can support a layout of up to 22 tires. Some examples of popular layouts are shown above.

Tire Sensors

Tire sensor Install Diagram

  1. Fasten the hex nut onto the valve stem by turning it clockwise. The nut must be positioned at least 1/4" from the top of the valve stem.
  2. Thread the sensor onto the valve stem and hand-tighten.
  3. Rotate the hex nut counter-clockwise towards the sensor. Use the included locking wrench to tighten the hex nut against the sensor.

Make sure your tires are inflated to the pressure level specified by the manufacturer prior to installing the sensors. These pressure levels will be used as the baseline to determine the high/low pressure warnings. It's best to install the sensors when your tires are cool.

You can also install flow-through adapters (sold separately) that let you air up your tires without removing the sensors. Simply screw the adapters onto your valve stems, and screw the sensors onto the adapters.

Brass vs Aluminum Tire Sensors

TireMinder Sensors

Your vehicle's tires will have either rubber or metal valve stems. RVs, motorhomes, 5th wheels, and trailers will generally have rubber stems with brass valve cores or metal stems with steel, chrome, or nickel valve cores - all of which work with the TireMinder brass sensors. This TireMinder kit comes with 6 brass sensors. You will only need aluminum sensors (TM-2ALUM - sold separately) if you're towing a car or light truck with built-in TPMS and aluminum valve stems.

It's important to choose the correct TPMS sensor for your vehicle. Pairing the wrong metals together may lead to galvanic corrosion, which makes it impossible to remove the sensors from the valve stem. If this happens, you will need to replace the valve stem or, in some cases, the whole tire. Matching the sensors to the construction of your valve stems will ensure the sensors won't corrode.

Rhino Signal Booster

Signal Booster

The TireMinder Rhino signal booster improves the signal strength and range of the sensors. It has dual Hi-Db antennas that let the booster cut through signal interference coming from wireless electronic devices used in surrounding automobiles. It also ensures that the link from the sensors to the monitor is strong and continuous. This is crucial for operating the TPMS on large vehicles such as RVs, 5th wheels, or motorhomes. The unit has a green light on the front panel to indicate it has power and a blue light that blinks when it transmits a signal.

Signal Booster Install

Even though the booster is weatherproof, you'll want to install it in a protected area on the underside of your vehicle to prevent corrosion. The optimal mounting location for the booster is in the medial section of your vehicle. This allows the booster to communicate clearly with all of the tire sensors. Other possible mounting locations for the booster include your battery compartment, attached to your license plate light, or on the front of your car hauler.

Once you've mounted your booster in a good location, connect the red power wire and black ground wire to a 12-volt or 24-volt power supply line. The booster needs to be mounted securely to reduce vibration. Zip-ties are included to fasten the booster and wires to your vehicle or trailer.

Video Transcript for Review of TireMinder TPMS - RV,Trailer - TM-A1A-6

Today we're taking a look at the Tire Minder RV tire pressure monitoring system. This system allows for constant monitoring of a vehicle or trailer's tire pressure and temperature. Now this system can receive wireless information from up to 22 tires, ranging from 0 to 232 psi. So, very versatile system. It comes with six transmitters, but you can always add more if and when needed. This makes it awesome for multiple tire layouts, such as a camper, truck and camper, truck and fifth wheel, RV and towed vehicle, truck and trailer, or a single coach with six wheels. It comes with the hard wired booster.

So that's right here. It's got the antennas on it, it's got the aligator clips that way you can easily connect it to a power and ground connection. Can be connected to any power source that provides a constant or always on 12 or 24 volt power. So we have that and that's our booster. And right here on the remote we have the antenna that can come out to extend the wireless range. Now the booster, not only provides greater signal distance, but it helps eliminate any signal interference.

Again the unit comes with six transmitters, inside our little storage case here, we have all the batteries. So, batteries are all included. The transmitters, which are these here, they simply screw onto the valve stem of each tire. Each transmitter features a weather resistant design. To install the battery, it's really simple, you just take this, cap comes off and exposes the installation area for the batteries. Now the monitor, which is this device here, it's a really nice compact unit but also provides nice screen size.

It's rechargeable and features a really nice display. It displays your psi and temperature for each individual tire, it has a battery indicator that allows you to know when it needs to be recharged, it comes with the power cable and it also comes with the accessory plug. Now this can be used to plug into the accessory or 12 volt outlet on your vehicle or you can also plug it directly into a wall outlet. You got your USB connections there for your cable, that's a really nice design of the unit but again, the monitor is rechargeable. It also offers visual and audible high/low pressure alarms. You can customize the monitor to your needs so you can raise or lower the baseline pressures for each tire.

This really allows you to teach the monitor what pressures you run in your rig and set-up. It notifies you of many different alerts such as rapid air loss or blow-out, semi-rapid air loss, normal pressure loss, high temperature warning, high pressure alert and so on. It also features single action memory delete which allows you to delete information if and when needed. It features front and rear disconnect and reconnect modes as well, has an auto-search mode. So, very easy to get set-up. Very simple to use. It comes with everything laid out here on the table so you get the booster, the monitor, you get your little storage kit, power cord, charger. You get some cable ties, so if you have any wiring that you need to secure up and out of the way you can do that. You get your transmitters.Right here, this is your locking wrench with valve cord tool, also in here we have some extra o-rings for the transmitters, and we have the six anti-theft locking nuts, which keeps the transmitters from being taken away or being stolen. It also comes with an adjustable mounting bracket, this is a magnetic mounting bracket which allows you to mount the monitor with adhesive tape and the metal plates there. You can mount this to a convenient area in your vehicle cab, so that way you can always monitor the transmitters, you can always monitor your tires. That's going to do it for today's look at the Tire Minder RV pressure monitoring system.

On line they say the batteries would last about a year, but after only 3 months and 2200 miles I began experiencing faulty leak warnings. After contacting the company I was asked to check battery voltage. The voltage had dropped to 3.0 volts which they said would cause this type of warning. They sent new batteries which tested at 3.29 V. They dropped to 3.1V after traveling for only 9 days so I’m removing batteries from the sensors while not traveling. Annual free battery replacement of batteries wasn’t working for me as they send 130AH batteries. I went with slightly batteries 40 for $10 on line so I have extra batteries. 603789

The A1A is easy to install and worked perfectly the first time I used it. Don't bother with the locks that come with it. Just a waste of time. Installed the A1A at the camp grounds we were staying at for a long weekend. Thought it would take a lot longer than it did. On the drive home my wife was monitoring the tire pressure and temp. We did get a warning alert that one tire was getting a little hot. Came on as we were about to stop for gas. As I filled the tank my wife watched as the temp went down. Got back on the road and the tire was fine the rest of the way home. Easy to use, easy to install, what's not to like? 606838

The Tire Minder TPMS tire pressure monitoring system has given us tremendous peace of mind while traveling in our RV. I also appreciate the ease of checking tire pressures before setting off on a trip. Before we installed the system, I had to haul out a mechanics blanket and tools then get down on my hands and knees to pull wheel covers to get to the tire valve stems with the digital gauge. Now, I just turn on the receiving unit and wait for the system to update. If I do need to change the tire pressures, the Y stems (flow adaptors) make it a breeze to get the inflation gun attached to the valve stem. No more cut knuckles! 610024

The instructions for the setup were good. I tested a loss of pressure by allowing a leak with a partially installed sensor. The alarm and designation of which tire was leaking alarmed as expected. I have not driven with the A1A install yet so no comments for actual driving conditions. 617822

  • What is More Concerning With RV Tires- Tire Pressure or Tire Temperature?
  • I can understand how you might be alarmed at the increase in pressure, but the increase in pressure is to be expected and there isn't a danger zone in pressure as much as there should be concern about the heat buildup on the tires. Excessive heat is the worst enemy of tires and heat buildup can be caused by overloading of your RV or under-inflation of the tires. • I reached out to my contact at TireMinder and she said there aren't any issues using their TPMS systems like the part # TM-A1A-6 you were looking at with valve extensions, as long as the extensions are steel. The added weight of the sensors won't cause problems with them potentially snapping off during travel. They will work really nicely for your RV's inner tires.
