I was excited about this item. But after the install i tried to open my hatch back and found that it doesnt clear the tire carrier. Its an inch to far in. Im sure anyone that ordered this item would have the same problem. Its obvious that the carrier was never modified to correct this issue. It looks great but its useless as it is. I actually have to remove the entire carrier in order to open my rear door.

Depending on how far under the bumper the hitch receiver is, the carrier may or may not extend far enough to be able to open the rear hatch. On this spare tire carrier the hole closest to the upright bar measures 3.75 inches from the center of the hole to the upright. The furthest hole from the upright bar measure 6.25 inches from the center to the upright. You can use a part like part # Y02483

Quality spare tire carrier received on time and in perfect condition. Since I was installing it on the front of my van, I had to use a 6" extension to the receiver. This should have it far enough forward to allow good airflow to the radiator.

Pretty basic spare tire carrier that perfectly met our needs. I appreciate that this model includes all the necessary hardware to attach the tire to the carrier, which is not true with other similar products. Very happy with my purchase.

Perfect wish I knew about this a year ago. We cut our bumper off to install a more heavy-duty installation. Doing this we lost our spare tire mount. So we stored it in the front of our 5th wheel where it just bounced around. But with this mount we no longer have to store it up front. We no longer haul a boat so this works perfectly. And now we found etrailer we are making all our rv purchases through them. Thank you etrailer.

2016 Ram Promaster 3500 On Coachman orion RV class B+ Wheel doesn't fit snug to 3 bolts on carrier. And spare is angled instead of flush against rear of vehicle

This is an angled spare tire carrier so it will not sit flush against the vehicle. If you measure the inside face of the wheel to outside of the rubber and the tire exceeds 5 inches, this may not work for you. If you measure the middle bolt holes on your wheel and it is under 6 inches, then this should fit your spare tire. It must be secured with at least 2 carriage bolts, but 3 would be better if possible. You can see all of the ways we measured here in this attached video:

The pin area was redesigned to a screw mounting that left no way to lock the mount to the hitch. This does not allow securing the mount and spare wheel, very poor design. I traveled to the hardware store, purchased a threaded bolt and drilled a lock hole where the bolt protrudes through the receiver, allowing the entire assembly to be locked to the vehicle. Etrailer needs to change this.

I do have another solution to offer. The shank for this carrier is threaded and so there is a threaded lock that will work for it. It is part # e99047

Over all I believe that what I got for the price is a good value for me even though modifications are needed. Pros: good construction, relatively light weight, adaptable, as shown in catalog, fair price. Cons: info for item dimensions does not include max spacing between bolt holes on the face of the mount to which the tire is mounted. I called etrailer for this info which I didn’t get. I was told that it will work with my 19.5” rim. I would say that is only true with some simple modifications.

The shaft that goes into the reciever was about 4 to short. Tops of the tire hit the lift hatch of the vehicle. Had to modify the vertical post to allow the angle to be less so that the tire would clear.

This spare tire carrier is an universal carrier for vehicles that have a two inch receiver. The hole closest to the upright bar measures 3.75 inches from the center of the hole to the upright. The furthest hole from the upright bar measures 6.25 from center to upright. You will want to make sure that you have the room you want when adding the tire on.

The hitch mounted spare tire carrier looks very good, and sturdy, it should work well. The shipping was fast, BUT, the box it was in was "TRASHED" and taped all over to hold it together, there were holes in the cardboard exposing the hitch, it was protected pretty good by the foam padding which was torn in several places exposing the metal (some abrasions), but it should still work as intended, no other damages were noted. A stronger, thicker box would have worked better

Item shipped quickly and was packaged well. Item is of very high quality and the included hardware is a nice extra touch. Instructions and install were pretty straightforward. I mounted the tire first and then picked up entire assembly and connected to receiver. Not easy with a 106 pound tire/wheel combo (33 inch tire on steel wheel). Due to hitch pin setup the item seems to be very solid and has no rattles. The tire sits lower than I thought it would, which is fine. On a 2005 Dodge Durango only the top 3-4 inches are visible above the bottom of the rear window. Highly recommend this item.

Very quick delivery, it even came a day early. Nice online tracking. Good price, very solid steel spare tire mount for my SxS. It is already mounted. Some very nice features like a screw in trailer hitch pin that I think will eliminate any rattle. Also, hardware included. Very happy. Thank you

Great hitch tire mount. Great value compared to the competition. I didn't have to go out and buy the tire mounting bolts, nuts and washers. Also, the threaded hitch pin is a plus that the competition doesn't have.

My only concern ordering this mount was if it would sit in the receiver loose, but it is actually very sturdy with a full size spare attached, and I’m honestly very impressed with this product. The order processing and shipping was extremely fast, and the customer service was great!

Came immediately vs 4-6 week wait proposed by the more expensive brand. Husband put it together and on RC without any trouble. Off on first trip with it on. Saved us $1000 over the one that everyone blogged about but etrailer rep listened and said for our needs this one would work. If we every tow a car we'll throw spare in the car.
