Super easy installation. Honestly I didn't think it would be as sturdy as it is. -but it definitely is. Holds my 225/75 R15 spare nice and solid. I added the heat-shrink tubing to the U bracket and the rubber thread caps.

Comments
Its been a year and it still looks the same as it did when I bought it. The tire hasnt moved with over 2000 miles of traveling.

The original Casita spare tire carrier is poorly designed and placed. The Stromberg Carlson Spare Tire Carrier is exactly what I was looking for...secure, simple/easy install.

GR8! Still right where I put it. Check the nuts on a regular basis.

I had to replace my original spare tire mount due to it developing a crack completely across one of the mounting lug holes. This replacement mount bolted right up to my 4 inch square rear bumper just like the original did. I had it done in about 20 minutes. I replaced it on a Rockwood 2503S Mini Lite which has 14 inch tires and 5 hole wheels. I can’t give an opinion on its durability because I haven’t taken it on the road yet. Only after bouncing down the road for a while will I know how durable it is, but it looks and feels sturdy.

Photo shows spare tire mounted with the bumper mounted u-bolt mount TR-1 tire carrier we purchased from etrailer. Easy install and holds tire firmly, eliminates hauling spare in pickup box.

Our fiberglass travel trailer came with a spare tire that bolted against the body of the trailer, leaving a permanent black donut on the gel coat. Never liked that setup. This spare tire carrier was a breeze to install, is extremely well-built and took care of my issue with the original spare tire holder.

- TR-1
by:

Have not mounted this yet as need to do a good cleaning of area behind it. This is 2 inches higher than the OE one that drug the spare on a steep entrance that I should've known better than to use. Once mounted and the spare mounted correctly it should function as designed.

Easy to install. This carrier has traveled over 6000 miles on the back of my trailer with no issues. I am currently taking it another 4000 miles this summer.

Great fit on our 5th wheel rear bumper. Seems to be good quality and solid mount for the spare 15 inch tire.

Solid tire mount. Easy to install. Have taken off once & re-installed with without any change in performance. I am really pleased I purchased the mount & bought it from etrailer.

I didn't have an obstruction on the back of the trailer so instead of getting the fold down model I got the one with the solid weld and I like it. Fits great

I like this spare tire carrier for my vintage trailer. This will save me from loading the spare into the tow vehicle for every camping trip. And it will guarantee that I haven't forgotten it too. I ordered this carrier designed to fit 4" square bumpers even though my bumper is 3" high by 1.5" deep. I took advantage of the open backside of this bumper to accomodate a home built wooden spacer that gives the carrier it's needed 4 x 4 attachment. eTrailer web site, product information, reviews, packaging and tracking make eTrailer.com a delight to buy from.

- TR-1
by:

I adapted two of these carriers for heavier duty service. My E-450 based motorhome runs 16" wheels and the dunghy car trailer 15", both heavy for this carrier. I bolted angle iron braces through both sides of the vertical member. My rear bumper is heavier than the standard used on travel trailers but also required additional steel welded into the bumper-to-frame mounts. The final installation handles both spares and I avoided fabricating heavy carriers from scratch.

Thank you etrailer ! The reason order for my snapRing tire savers tire covers came in and I was impressed with them, not only how easy they go on but they hug the tire, and the how to video was a great, I hope this will help with the sun baking my tires on my travel trailer while sitting in my yard, and the bumper mount spare tire carrier was so easy to mount and the vented bumper covers went together just like in the video, etrailer you are making it easy to get stuff done, Thank you again, Respectfully Submitted From A Satisfied Customer.

Great product. Just bolt it on and forget about it.

Not as rugged as I had hoped and I had to perform some grinding on the cross bar to fit my custom aluminum wheels also. The stand off bent after driving over the bumpy highways of America and had to be beat back into shape for the trip home. It survived the trip home and I haven't had any other issues.

Comments
It is still in use although I have had to straighten back into position a couple of times. The finish is holding up well even being exposed to the outdoors. It is doing the job of holding a fairly heavy spare on my fifth wheel bumper which is what it was designed to do. He needs a little more reinforcing to get an excellent rating.

Great product

- TR-1
by:

We have a '92 Toyota Daytona motorhome and on a trip from eastern Pennsylvania to Yellowstone we experienced the demise of its OEM bumper, which literally began to tear off its mounts under the weight of the spare tire and a bike rack with two mountain bikes. After the trip I fabricated a new bumper using 4" square tube steel and then bought this spare tire mount to replace the "chinsy" mount that came with the original bumper. Couldn't have made a more perfect choice. It mounted easily to the 4" tube and it's solid as you'd hope steel to be with the spare tire on it. We haven't had to fuss with it for the year it's been on. Couldn't be more happy with the purchase.

- TR-1
by:

The bolt retainer clips do a poor job holding on to the bolts securely to the frame so that when you try to mount the spare it makes it very difficult to do so because the bolt moves around.

Even though this spare tire carrier is advertised for the Roadmaster Tow Dolley, it fit perfectly on the front crossmember of my cargo trailer. The bolt pattern is 5 on 4.5". The is an awesome solution and gets the spare tire out of the inside of the cargo trailer, so the entire inside now can be used for what is is designed to do, carry cargo.

- TR-1
by:

was very pleased with this product. easy to install. looks great.

- TR-1
by:

I was skeptical at first if this tire mount would work, because my trailer is the old canned ham type, and doesn't have a standard five lug pattern like modern trailers do. It has the 4 lug bolts about a foot apart, sort of like the early VW's had. I figured I would take a chance on it, and if it didn't work right out of the box, I would weld a bracket to it to make it work. Fortunately I didn't have to do anything other than mount it on my rear bumper and put the spare on it. The cross bar that is included works perfectly with the pattern on these old style rims. I'm happier that I thought I'd be, and so are my neighbors who would rather me spend my time making barbecue for them, than fabricating things for myself. This rack is well built and sturdy and should last longer than the bumper.
