Video Transcript for FAQ The Winter Camping Experience

So this week, we have the biggest winter storm rolling through in our area. And I thought, you know what Let's do something crazy. Let's go grab our hike trailer which is what we keep on our E Trailer, parking lots along with a bunch of other trailers. And then I'm gonna go grab a bunch of random E Trailer products and then start a cold camping adventure. So the mission is, can I get away with sleeping in a random trailer in our parking lot through tonight without getting caught Can I use E Trailer only products And the third mission is, will I survive the night So I'm already here at E Trailer because I need to make videos throughout the day. So I'm gonna sneaky grab whatever I need.

Let's get started. We'll do a little shopping trip. So we have warehouses, right beside of us with pretty much all of the products that we can carry. So I have a list of everything I want to get let's go get them. So I wanted a source of heat beyond my own body heat.

Just to keep me warm since I am in a camper and can plug into the power source. So what I got was two different products from bridge performance tool. One was the heater Defroster that has a 12 fold plug. It's not really a space heater. I did not want space heater 'cause I wanted something that's a little bit more safe.

And then the second thing that I pulled was a heated blanket, which I have right now. So that also uses a 12 volt plug. So I plug them in and I found out that the heater slash the frost just didn't have enough heat. It designed to be used with cars. So requires a 15 amp plug which is something my camper did not have.

So using the heated blanket instead uses less amperage but then for a longer period of time and it doesn't shut off every 15 minutes or like the fuse doesn't go off every 15 minutes like my heater would. So in this case, what I found out was the best way to do it was. Remember how I have a sleeping bag while this is the proper sleeping bag and it does have good insulation for cold weather camping. It's a little bit more comfortable if it's already warmed. So I use the heated blanket with the sleeping bag then it automatically shut off after 45 minutes. But by then I was on ice and toasty I had my own body heat and that's what was retained inside the sleeping bag keeping me warm throughout the night. So if you are thinking about getting other heat sources has definitely something worth considering will it last through the night You even want it to last through the night, is that even safe And what's the most effective way to use this. Because if you do have the proper clothes as well as the proper installation then your body heat should be enough just to keep you through and keep you resting. It says negative nine feels like negative 16. It's 10:00 PM and I think I'm ready to sleep. So it's cold out here in the air but inside of the sleeping bag, I feel very comfortable. So I'm just gonna tuck myself in the sleeping bag and go to sleep. Especially since I had the heating blanket or the heated blanket help heat up that bag. All right, good night. I'll see you all in the morning. So I actually had to wake up in the middle of the night. It was about 1:00 AM when I heard snowplows and shoveling. And when I woke up, I was very toasty and warm. It was wonderful, but I had to quickly put on my snow boots and my jacket just to hop outside because all my cameras had died in the cold. So I can switch out the batteries and charge 'em up again. So we're going back to sleep. It's around 3:00 AM now I waited for the plows to leave and I got a heat done from inside. So measuring the temperature of let's see this door it's around 11 degrees. I don't know if you can see it, but it says 11.9. Let's take a, let's take a look at that again. Now it says 10, all right. So then I'm gonna go warm up my sleeping bag again and then I'll take a temperature of what I feel inside the sleeping bag. There's no one else here. So whenever you go on a trip, if you're like me you could tend to over pack and it's nicer to over pack versus under pack but there's definitely some things you might wanna cut off of your list of things to bring. So these are the essentials the items I actually use throughout the night. So first off is the pillow. Yes, we sell pillows here at E Trailer. This is a king size RV pillow and I just put my own pillowcase around it. Another thing that was a major help was the sleeping bag. So we have different sleeping bags. I use the 20 degree sleeping bag which was warm enough for my night. I also have my hiking pack with my clothes in my toiletries, as well as my food. And then for lights there are lights on this camper on the side but it was helpful to have a light I could carry around. So what I used was the Goal Zero Lighthouse 600 which is also a power bank, as well as the Goal Zero Crush Lantern for a smaller light source. So it's 9:00 AM and it's time to start our workday. Some of my coworkers made it to work. Most of them did it. So I was gonna surprise in the morning with some coffee but oh, well, let's see how we did for tonight's mission. So we had three different goals. One was to be as sleepy as I could and not get caught that failed miserably since I wanna be safe and make sure everyone knew that I was here. So there went that goal. The second one was to use E Trailer only products. And I did. So I used our healthy sleeping bag and our performance tool heating blanket. Those we're the major stars of last night's adventure along with some of the other products like we Goal Zero Lighthouse Lantern. And so I think that was a success there. And the final goal was to survive the night. And as you can see here, I did, I had a lot of fun. It was kind of cold at some points but I did learn the best way to do certain things. So I think that was a success on that point. So I hope you enjoyed the fun but cold journey..
