Video Transcript for Thule Ski and Snowboard Racks - Roof Rack - TH575 Review

Today we are going to cover part number TH575 from Thule. This is Thules Snowboard Rack with Locks. This is one of our space-saving designs. This rack will hold up to two snowboards, and it actually holds them at an angle. So, in other words, you have more room left over for other objects you and put on your roof rack, like another ski rack.

Next, we will cover some of the features of this snowboard rack. You can custom fit to different widths of snowboards. This cable, obviously, does part of that, but also, on the inside here, where a snowboard sits, you can adjust those up and down through in here. Next is the angled design of it. While it is on your roof rack, this is actually pointing toward the outside of the vehicle so you have more room here to put other accessories. And lastly is the integrated cable lock. What this does is, it actually holds the snowboard in place, and it actually gets locked into place here. So no one can take off with your snowboards. Next we will show you the hardware that comes with it. It has these four clamps that go on the bottom of the ski rack itself. It will clamp to a variety of different roof-rack bars. One nice feature about the hardware, it has an anti-theft design to it. It looks like a regular torques bit however, there is a raised bump at the bottom of the screw so that you have to use a special tool for that. And Thule does provide it right here.

We have got one installed to give you an idea of what it looks like. We will go ahead and install the second one to show you how it is done. Slide it over your roof rack and put the clamps underneath of it, and then just go ahead and screw it down shut. And then tighten it up so it will not fall over on its own, and then do the back one. Then what you want to do is take a second and make sure you have these equally in line, basically. And once you have them aligned the way you want them, go ahead and tighten them down as tight as you can.

We will go ahead and install a snowboard. Now, if you notice the cables hanging off the back side of them there are four slots, depending on if you are carrying one or two snowboards. So it will take a little bit of trial and error to figure out which one you need, due to different widths of your snowboard and how to adjust the bottom of the cradles, too. We will slit up our snowboard, pull the cable around, get it centered the best you can, and then pull your latch up and put in your cable. Once you make the gross adjustment of your cable, then go ahead and fine-tune it with the cradle itself. You may have to raise it or lower it, as needed, to get the correct amount of tension on there. All right, once you have found the right tension, just go ahead and lock it into place with your key. And just repeat the same process for the other side. All right, and your snowboard is safe and secure, ready to go down the road. All right, and that covers our review of part number TH575 from Thule.

Thule Snowboard Carrier Snowboard Mounting System

- TH575

Nice product. Very easy to install. Yes, it did take me some time to adjust the cable so that can tie two snowboards up. One tip here is to measure the distance between your crossbars first and the distance of the snowboard bindings, so that you can adjust the crossbars and let the Thule fits the boards. it looks quite robust, I hope it can stand some strong winds. Overall, I like it, it saves a lot of space for a decent size cargo box on the roof. 332236

Ask the Experts about this Thule Ski and Snowboard Racks
Do you have a question about this Ski and Snowboard Rack?

  • Would a Thule Pull Top Fit Factory Crossbars of an Acura MDX
  • Most likely yes, but since I do not know the year of your Acura MDX all I can say is that rack will fit MDX factory crossbars from 2001-2016. The rack you are looking at is an older version of the Thule Pull Top Slide-Out Ski and Snowboard Carrier # TH92726 (which uses the same install hardware as the 92724).

  • Are Thule Ski and Snowboard Carriers Compatible with Rola Roof Racks
  • Yes, for the most part, the Rola crossbars in roof rack # 59824 are compatible with the Thule ski and snowboard carriers. You could use any of the following carriers: SnowPack Extender, # TH7325 SnowPack, # TH7326 or # TH7324 Snowboard rack, # TH575

  • Roof Rack Ski Carrier for Use with Kuat Mini Skinny Cargo Basket MSR1B
  • The Kuat Mini Skinny Roof Cargo baskets # MSR1B and # MSR1B-EXB (which includes the 14-inch extension piece # MSEXB) are designed to transport bikes as well as normal cargo. These baskets are not designed expressly for use with skis. But depending on the type and length of your skis it could be possible to secure them so that they are safe for transport. You could invert the skis so that their bindings are within the basket and then use tie-down straps like # 34414 to hold them in place. Although...

  • Will 2 of the Thule Snowboard Carriers # TH575 Fit with a Cargo Box on a Roof Rack
  • The key measurement here is the distance from the body of the carrier to the far mount. You will need to have at least that much free space on the bar to fit the Thule Snowboard Rack # TH575. I went out to the warehouse and pulled the carrier and took that measurement and it is 4-1/2 inches to the center and 5 inches to the end of the mount. So if you have 4-1/2 to 5 inches of free bar space on either side of he box you can mount 2 of these carriers with the cargo box. I included a picture...

  • Recommended Ski and Snowboard Rack For Limited Roof Rack Space
  • I reached out to my contact at Thule and the Thule Snowboard Rack with Locks - Space Saving Design - 2 Boards, # TH575, cannot hold skis. The locking cable is designed only for use with snowboards and would not allow you to go tight enough to secure skis from bouncing around. My recommendation for your limited space is the Rhino-Rack Ski and Snowboard Carrier - Locking - 3 Skis or 2 Boards # RR573. This rack has an external measurement of 18-1/2 inches and and internal measurement...

  • Will Yakima Skybox Cargo Box Fit Thule AeroBlade Crossbars On 2014 Subaru Forester
  • I pulled some Thule AeroBlade crossbars along with the mounting hardware for a Yakima Skybox Pro, part # Y90135 to do a test fit for you. I have included a short video that shows how the Skybox should fit with the crossbars. As you can see in the video, there is a small amount of gap but since the Skybox hardware is adjustable, it can be tightened to hold securely to the crossbars you have on your Forester. The Thule Snowboard Rack part # TH575 needs 4-1/2 to 5 inches of free bar...

  • Can the Cable be Replaced on the Thule Snowboard Rack # TH575

  • Roof Rack Snowboard Carriers for Carrying 4 Snowboards with Bindings
  • Mounting 4 snowboards with bindings attached on the roof of a vehicle presents an issue, but we have several options that will work. From Thule we have the ski and snowboard rack # TH575. Two of these racks would be required to carry 4 snowboards with bindings attached, see attached video. From Rhino-Rack you can use their locking ski and snowboard carrier, # RR576.

  • Can the Thule Snowboard Carrier Mount to Putco Bed Side Rails on a 2013 GMC Sierra
  • What you could do is use Inno in-bed crossbars, # INRT101-79, and then mount the snowboard carrier to the rails. I have linked a video review for you. The Thule Snowboard Rack # TH575 has mounting feet that are too long for them to be turned 90 degrees. They would make contact with each other and would not be straight. Since the carrier uses 2 feet per section you would not be able to use just one per section because it would not be stable or safe for use. There isn't an adapter that...

  • Ski Carrier to Use in Combination with a Roof Cargo Box
  • I have a solution for you, but the Thule Snowboard Rack, part # TH575 will not be able to safely carry skis as they will rattle around in the housing and potentially fall out of the rack. Instead, I recommend the Rhino Rack 2 Ski or Fishing Pole carrier, part # RR572. This works to carry two pairs of skis and is small enough that it can work next to a roof box on top of a vehicle.

  • Compatibility of the Thule Universal Snowboard Carrier with Yakima JetStream Crossbars
  • The Thule Universal Snowboard Carrier, part # TH575 is compatible with Yakima JetStream Crossbars. They are the same size as Thule AeroBlade bars and have a similar fit range. A few customers have reported that measuring your snowboard's binding location and then adjusting your crossbars if able to fit the carrier to sit on the outside of the binding is time saving when installing this carrier. If you want to key-alike this carrier to match your other Thule accessories, let me know...

  • Can a Thule Sidekick Cargo Box and Thule Ski Carrier Fit Together on an Audi Q3
  • It depends on how much space is available on the roof of your Audi Q3 after the box is mounted. If you can mount the box over to one side far enough you could mount the Thule Snowboard rack # TH575. With the box in place you will need at least 5 inches of free crossbar space measured from the nearest part of the box. If you have 5 inches or more then this will work.

This aero style rack also has channels in the top of the roof rack that allows additional flexibility with accessories. If you don't have fixed mounting points, I recommend the Sport Rack Semi-Custom roof rack, part # SR1010. • Ski Rack Recommendation for 2012 Audi Q5 with Factory Crossbars
  • The Thule Snowboard Rack with Locks # TH575 is a confirmed fit for the factory crossbars of your 2012 Audi Q5 but is only listed for carrying snowboards. We've asked Thule before if there was anyway to carry skis on this rack and they said it's not possible. Best solution we have would be to replace your current ski carrier with one that can fit up to 4 pairs of skis like the Thule Snowpack part # TH7324.

  • Recommended Snowboard Carrier Option for 2004 Acura MDX w/ Factory Roof Rack
  • Since your Acura MDX already has crossbars, you'll just need to choose a snowboard carrier. I'd recommend the Thule SnowPack, part # TH7326 which can carry up to 4 snowboards and would mount directly to the crossbars using Thule's tool-free lockable Speed-Link attachment system. The Thule Snow Cat, part # TH575 wouldn't be a fit for your MDX.
