Speaker 1: Today, on our 2018 Toyota Corolla, we're gonna be doing a test fit on the Rhino rack 2500 series Vortex aero roof rack system, using part numbers RRVA118B-2 for the 46" long, black, aluminum crossbars. They're also available in silver with part number RRVA118S-2, part number RRLKVA. That's for the 2500 series legs. Finally, part number DK383 for the custom fit kit for the Corolla. This roof rack system's gonna be great for carrying your bike racks, kayak carriers, roof boxes, really any accessory you want to put on your roof. It features aero style bars, which compared to square or round bars, it's gonna be a lot quiet and you don't need a fairing.
The end caps are removable, allowing you to use T-track accessories. Now if you'd like, you can add more security to your end caps. You can pick up some Rhino rack locking cores and you can find those right here at etrailer.com. This roof rack system's customer designed to fit your Corolla with the included fit hooks. Now we'll give you some clearance measurements.
From the roof to the underside of the crossbar is about 3".From the roof to the top of the crossbar is about 4 1/2". Now that we've gone over the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. We've already got the front on installed. The rear one installed is the same. Let's go ahead and show you that now.
I've got one foot pack assembled and ready to go. Let's do the other one together. We'll first grab our foot pack. I'm gonna unlock it so I can remove the cap here. We'll set that aside for now.
We'll remove the bolt here. Then we'll grab our hook, set it in place over the hole and then re-thread in the bolt. Now we're not gonna tighten this down all the way, just get it loosely installed. Then we'll take our pad and you'll notice that there's a little arrow on top of it. We want to make sure that that's facing towards our clamp and that simply just presses and fits in place. Now we're ready to install it onto our crossbar. Let's go ahead and remove our end cap. Now our foot packs do come preassembled with a square nut already installed. We want to make sure we've got it loosened up enough to where we can slide this onto the channel underneath and that's gonna be right here. Slide that on and then since we're here, let's go ahead and replace that end cap. Now we need to set the position of our foot pack. So we can flip it over and what you would do was take your included measurement strip, locate your measurement in your instructions, cut it to fit, and then reinsert into the slot here and then that's where your foot pack needs to be set. For demonstration purposes, we will not be doing that. We're going to measure it manually. Once you've got it set, you can take your included tool and then tighten it down. Now there's no reason to over tighten. What you want to do is just flatten out that lock washer. Now we're ready to set it in place on our Corolla. You want to be sure both doors are opened up and we'll set it in the general area. How we got our front crossbar set up is we took a measurement from the door and measured to the center per our instructions. Now we need take a measurement from the center to the center of the rear crossbar and you can find in your instructions. Repeat this process on both sides and then we can begin tightening it down. Now one thing we need to be sure of is that the pad is sitting on the lip here correctly on both sides. Now we can begin tightening it down. Now I'm not gonna tighten it down all the way just yet. What I'm doing is drawing up that fit hook until it makes contact with the inside of the door and I'm gonna do that for both sides. With both sides making contact, now we can begin tightening them both down. Now we sill want to alternate sides. So I'm gonna turn a few times here and then move on to the other side. When you finally get it to where it's gonna be completely tight on both sides, the uniques took will straighten out, telling you that it is properly torqued down. You'll see it here as I turn. It goes from being curved to being straight. Our last step is to put on our covers. With everything installed, now we can load up our favorite accessories and hit the road and that's gonna complete our test fit of the Rhino rack 2500 series Vortex aero roof rack system on our 2018 Toyota Corolla.
The rack is everything I imagined. It was the only one that was a perfect fit for my truck, and my canoe rides easily. It did play some unusual music for us when we had icicles hanging.
This product looks great on our truck! It was missing a part from the manufacture's packaging, but after reaching out to etrailer customer service, they were able to get the missing part shipped out to me. Very much a happy customer! This looks great on my truck as well!
great product, very happy, 47, 000 miles of high with and 30 foot ladder on top of my Lexus LS 460 with zero problems, easy to remove and reinstall when I need to wash the car or go on vacation.
Bought it and it came pretty quick in the mail. I put it on the car fairly quickly and easily. Has held tight with no problems. Makes a whistling sound with speed which is to be expected.
Noisy
These crossbars are nice and sleek! They have great surface area and textured rubber strips for traction. One thing I really liked was that should a piece of the rubber become damaged, you can take out that piece and snap in a new one. We bought the bars for two 10 foot kayaks (53lbs and 65lbs each). We went 60mph and they didn't budge! Love the product and love the company!
It was super hard to put on. If it would not have been for a video I found I would not have gotten it done and returned it. It works well once installed but, irritating to get on the car
After one year these suckers haven't moved. Solid as a rock and I would 100% buy again. I believe you get what you pay for and the quality was there in every way!
The product is excellent but the instructions were mediocre. The video was much better and I should have watched that before reading the printed instructions. Also the video does the assembly in a different order than the instructions.
No wind noise when empty. Haven't tried it yet with the racks loaded. I only plan to carry lightweight foldable ramps on it when towing the car behind my motorhome.
Shipping was very fast.
Nothing special or “nice” about these. Rhino Rack stickers were already peeling and even if you want to peel them off completely they leave a bunch of residue.
Easy to install and structurally sound. I installed it a year ago to carry my 13.5' tandem kayak on day trips, and have been VERY satisfied with the rack's performance.
Shipping took 5 days to process, item was lost in Memphis. Etrailer customer service was terrible, it was my fault it took so long because I accepted their free shipping. I had to pay to intercept the package so it wasn’t delivered once found to the air bnb I was at when ordered. Then had to pay shipping again to return to etrailer. Overall another nightmare from etrailer
Great rack!! Have had it on my car for a year and it has held up great. Does not make any wind noise or whistling sound as you drive. Would buy this brand again in the future. Easy to install.
The etrailer staff was very helpful with getting me the right roof rack system.
The rack went together fast, easy and very simple to put on and off the car.
I like that there are locks so I do feel secure in using them.
Fantastic service.
This is a three star because of the way the product looked when I received it, I was given the wrong measurements for the rear racks, and when driving this product makes a loud whistle sound. I also purchased this believing the lock face would keep my rack safe on my car but the lock face is thin and the bottom is open and can easily be broken off if someone wants to.
So far the product is sturdy but haven't taken anything heavy on it.
I bought this kit so that I could use the racks from my old car for my new car. The kit worked well, and fit my new car beautifully. I'm very pleased with this product.
The clamps didn’t fit my 2013 F150 perfectly. They needed to be bent to fit reasonably well. I get more wind noise in the truck with them on.
Great product. I put the removable racks and brackets on my car as soon as I received them in the mail and have not removed them since. They are used everyday to hold my Yakima rooftop box.
I was shipped a previously opened product , that was missing parts and instructions. Inside of the box looked like a jig saw puzzle. Unusable as it is now
A very good product. I bought the rack to transport my kayak. The rack is solid and highly recommend this product for anyone needing a roof rack. It is worth the investment.
Excellent rack, no need for Yakima or Thule prices. Has been hauling kayaks for a year without issue. Easy installing them and good hold on the first time. Used for highway travel and dirt roads. Very happy with the product.
I've had this on my car for a year. The only issue I have is that the rubber strips in grooves in top/center of the bars sometimes pop out. The manufacturer should provide updated strips that stay put.
Overall, this rack deserves a 5/5. This rack is very durable and easy to use. I am confident that my two-person kayak will stay put for long road trips. I drive a Nissan Altima and I would recommend this to anybody with a similar body style.
The roof rack kit has been AWESOME! Super stable, initial build was easy and the install was a breeze. I have been very, very pleased with the stability and the strength of the bars and leg kit. Quieter than I thought, relatively easy on-off if you need to wash the car every so often. Just a great purchase.
