Rhino Rack RVP Roof Rack Main

The low-profile, aerodynamic Rhino-Rack RVP roof rack lets you carry gear and accessories on your vehicle's roof quietly and with little wind drag. It's designed for installation on a vehicle with fixed mounting points (or flush side rails with internal fixed mounting points). The rack's Vortex Aero crossbars have built-in rubber strips that disrupt airflow for a quiet ride, and the bars are constructed of aluminum so they won't rust. These bars blend seamlessly with the support legs to provide a from-the-factory look, and they are custom cut to your specific vehicle so they require no adjustment during installation. The legs also include built-in locks that protect your gear and the rack from theft.

Aerodynamic Design

Rhino Rack RVP Roof Rack Design

The rubberized Vortex strips in the top channel of each crossbar disrupt airflow with evenly spaced, wave-shaped grooves. This carefully controlled turbulence minimizes wind noise and whistling, so you won't need to add a fairing to your roof rack. And the slim, elliptical Vortex Aero crossbars cut through the air with minimal drag - even at highway speeds.

Rhino Rack RVP Roof Rack Closer

The RVP roof rack has a flush-mount design so the crossbars terminate at the legs with no overhang. This provides the rack with a seamless, from-the-factory look.

Strong, Durable Construction

Rhino Rack RVP Roof Rack Construction

The Vortex Aero crossbars are made of structural-grade anodized aluminum with H-shaped internal extrusions. These extrusions strengthen the bars without adding a significant amount of weight. And the aluminum bars won't rust so you can leave them on your roof year-round.

Rhino Rack RVP Roof Rack Bar Close

The rack's durable, glass-reinforced nylon legs are designed to stand up to cargo loads and weather extremes. They're also UV treated to withstand long-term exposure to sunlight.

Channel-Mounted and Clamp-On Accessories

Rhino Rack RVP Roof Rack Channel and Clamp Accessory

Each crossbar has a built-in C-channel so you can carry channel-mounted accessories such as bike racks, watersport carriers, and ski racks. The Vortex strips in the top channels come in pieces, so they're easier to adjust than a single long, continuous strip. You can remove, trim, and re-insert the Vortex strips around the mounting hardware of your accessories to keep the crossbar channels capped and quiet. Replacement strips (sold separately) are also available if you remove your accessories or switch to clamp-on accessories.

You can also attach most clamp-on accessories to the bars, and the Vortex strips provide a shock-absorbing, no-slip cushion for any accessories that rest on them.

Built-In Security

Rhino Rack RVP Roof Rack Security

Locking covers on each support leg let you secure accessories mounted in the crossbar top channels. These sturdy nylon covers give the rack a finished look and also help secure the rack to your roof. The cover locks are keyed alike, so a single key opens all locks.

The instructions could have been better. One bar was longer than the other, meaning one was for the front and the other for the rear. Also I was given the wrong trox key. I was given a "T-27 CR-V" assuming it was for a Honda CRV instead of the T-30 as required for my equinox had to go out and buy a set of trox keys as I did not know what it required. But the bar it self of nice and sturdy. The instructions could be better and more attention could have been paid to packaging the right items. Also there were no spare parts given. Would have been nice to get atleast 1 spare washer spring and washer and nut and bolt for the legs and base. So 2 spare parts. Incase we lose or break one of them.

Comments
I will definitely send this to our customer service team right away to make sure you end up with the correct parts. Thanks for letting us know about this! I am glad the rest of the install went well.

We bought a car with docking stations but no roof racks. After searching the internet I called etrailer. Jaime listened to my story, asked for a picture of the roof of the car so she could better help me. Her customer service was worth every penny we spent. The product was exactly what we needed and the instructions were easily understood. Installation went so smoothly my husband and I are still talking lol

Was easy to install and required no customization to fit the 4 fixed mounting pads on the roof of my 2018 Equinox. It’s flush mount design is definitely the nicest looking roof rack that I have seen. As a bonus, I couldn’t find this rack in Canada, but it took only 3 business days for it to be shipped from etrailers warehouse in Missouri to my doorstep in Ontario, Canada. Next time I need an automotive related accessory, I’ll be sure to check etrailer first. Very satisfied!

There was initial issues with the cut length, but the customer support worked quickly with me including getting exact measurements from me and re-cut new bars and shipped them to me quickly. The new bars fit great and were easy to install. I love this new rack system and I have nothing to say but how great it is.

Review from a similar RVP in Roof Rack

Finally finished my Rhino-rack roof rack install on my 2022 Hyundai Kona. I had problems understanding confusing directions and found out after calling and sending a video that there were wedges missing from my original shipment. I thought the bolts were too long only because pieces were missing. I thank Wayne from customer service for helping me figure this out and shipping them out next day air. I am happy with the install and they are sturdy and high quality. Just think they should make directions easier to understand. Happy customer just in time as we are planning a vacation starting tomorrow night to the beach! Good job etrailer.com!

Review from a similar RVP in Roof Rack

The Rhino Rack RVP Roof Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars works well after many uses this past year. The only problem is that it makes noise in a crosswind, and while I thought I could leave it on the Jeep permanently, I have to take it off to eliminate the noise. To be fair, there is no set uf bars like this that will not make noise... unless they are OEM designed and installed. No one I have ever met with after-market bars installed has ever said there is no noise. They all have noise.

Comments
I bought these Rhino Racks in 2019 for my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. I had searched around extensively and looked at all the major rack manufacturers for racks that would integrate into the design of the Jeep and meet these requirements: 1. Racks with a rounded end “aero” design that looked integrated into the vehicle’s appearance 2. Make no noise while mounted and remain mounted on the Jeep when not being used 3. Easy to install using the OEM roof rack fittings and easy to remove if and when necessary 4. Provide clearance above the rear roof “fin” antenna if a large flat object were to cover the racks 5. Be strong and not slag in the middle under heavy weight. 6. Have some rubber grip on the top the rack itself to keep loaded surfaces steady 7. Purchased at a reasonable price point in relationship to the vehicle. After 3 months of searching, I decided to purchase the Rhino Racks from E-Trailer. After more than a year of practical use, I can say that purchasing these racks were a good decision. They fit all but two of the seven requirements I had regarding wind noise and periodic rack removal. Regarding requirement #2…wind noise… I have found there is no roof rack made today unless it is an OEM installation that will not make noise. No matter what they say, they all make some kind of wind noise. The reason for that is that wind direction, strength, and outside vehicle design all impact how wind is channeled around the vehicle and produces noise. So, to eliminate wind noise, requirement #2 is not fulfilled. The racks have to be removed…but even while attached, the wind noise is less that other racks. Regarding requirement #3…easy rack removal… these racks only met 50 of this requirement. To remove the racks, you have to unscrew the top racks from the base mounts. While some of the more expensive racks Thule, Yakima have easy to remove schemes, the Rhino Racks require two steps to be removed. This process will take only 15 minutes. First, you have to unlock and remove the end cover caps, and second, you have to unscrew the top portion of the rack from the base mount with an Alan wrench or socket tool. The base mounts are installed into the OEM roof rack track sections, and can be left there when the top racks are removed. They do not make any noise, because plastic caps cover the attachment bolts. Also, the Alan wrenches for each rack can be stored inside its locking cap. In addition, both roof racks can be stored easily in the back cargo area of the Jeep when removed. Regarding load carrying stability… these racks have always been up to task, regardless of the weight or weird shape or size of the load. Using the right support equipment, the load can always be tied down and securely and safely fastened to the racks without contact or damage to the load or the vehicle. The customer agents at E-Trailer were responsive with excellent telephone help in clarifying some of the installation instructions. They even sent me revised diagrams and an extra part. I can truly say that the folks at E-Trailer were enthused at answering my questions and supporting my purchase. So, all things considered… I like these Rhino Racks, E-Trailer, and I recommend them for the price. They look good on the vehicle, and they fit five out of the seven requirements that I had. They are not that hard to install, and removal is not that much of an inconvenience when you have the tools at hand. I am glad I bought them and would buy them again given the same cost and design requirements.

I purchased these crossbars for my 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The fit guide from Rhino Rack indicated that they are "not confirmed to fit." However, I took a chance and they fit perfectly. They actually look like they were installed at the factory.

Thank you for your review. This has sparked us into asking the manufacturer to test this on a few of these models and we have added it to our fit guide! Thanks for your help!

I love these racks! They stand apart for the appearance and capacity of others in the industry. I recommend them highly.

Comments
They have been working very well over the last year. They have not sagged under load, and are fairly quiet for wind noise. I also note that the finish is very tough and have not seen any deterioration from many machine car washes. I really love the neoprene s that prevent shifting of the load as long as it is tied down. I still love this product!

Review from a similar RVP in Roof Rack

The bars went on my 2018 Kia Sorento quite easily. Something I didn't realize was that because they have to be mounted in a prescribed position when I received my Rhino roof basket the baskets mounting points don't line up at all with the crossbars. I was able to mount the front as intended but I had to basically kind of make my own mounting brackets for the rear of the basket. My design worked and looks ok but it's totally not the way I would have wanted to mount it. Had I known I'd have spent the extra money to get the crossbars that you can put wherever you want to.

Comments
I have used the rack numerous times in the year since I got it. It still looks brand new and was well worth the money.

Review from a similar RVP in Roof Rack

I purchased a Rhino Rack RVP Roof Rack (RRRVP27) for my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. The product installation was straightforward and the crossbars have a sleek finished look. I use the crossbars in conjunction with two Thule Sidearm 594XT bicycle racks and the setup works great. I appreciate that the product blends in nicely with the look of the vehicle as the crossbars do not extend past the roof line and that security locks are included with the system. One drawback is that the crossbars, which are designed to be whisper quiet, whistle while driving. I have a panoramic sunroof which may be a contributing factor to the increased noise levels and this may vary with a traditional roof.

Comments
Unfortunately, a certain amount of wind noise is unavoidable once a roof rack is installed on a vehicle. To minimize the noise caused by wind turbulence, make sure the rubber strips are installed on the top and the underside of the crossbars. Any gaps in the strips will allow the wind to catch, and will cause noise.

top quality materials, instructions could have been a little more detailed but it was pretty easy to assemble/install otherwise. I wish Rino-Rack have a silver/brush aluminum version instead of only black (the box actually shows a silver rack). Haven't driven with the racks installed yet so I don't know how quiet they are. I have a set of Thule Aero bars that are whisper quiet so I'm hoping these are the same. I would recommend.....

Comments
Excellent product at a substantial savings compared to Thule and Yakama! I leave the racks on my Grand Cherokee all year round and there has been no sign of color fade or sun ware. Only wish would be for a two tone option vs all black. Keep up the great work!

I received my order very quickly. Installation was a little tricky, the included bolts for rear were too long so I used the factory bolts instead. The rack fits well, is very sturdy and wind noise is minimal. The quality is equal to the more expensive brands that I have used in the past.

We've had this a little more than a year now for our Toyota Highlander, and it's holding up well for limited use with luggage and a Christmas tree. As I recall, the installation wasn't exactly a breeze, but it's stayed in place ever since.

Review from a similar RVP in Roof Rack

This is an excellent product for my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The order was delivered in 2 days. I received all the parts with clear instructions for assembly and installation. The installation was easy and they look very clean on the vehicle, as opposed to the Mopar rails that extend beyond the bases. The only question I had was I'm not sure why there is storage for the included Torx wrench in the base when you need a 10mm socket to both remove the rack/bases assembly from the metal/rubber mounts and to attach the plastic covers for when the racks are not in use. The Torx wrench is only for completely removing the mounts. Maybe just so you won't lose it. I found the online videos very helpful as well. I also purchased the 27" ski rack which is also an excellent product and will hold 6 pairs of skis if they are back to back. I haven't used it yet but I believe there is enough height clearance to mount one ski face down without the ski binding hitting the roof. I am very happy with etrailer.com for providing everything needed from materials to installation support.

Review from a similar RVP in Roof Rack

Overview ------------- I purchased these for my Grand Cherokee after looking at options from Yakima and Thule. Only Thule made an equivalent model (aero bars that fit direct to the rails with no unsightly over-hang) but they were more than twice the price of these. I figured its pretty unlikely Thule makes a product over twice as good so gave these a shot. Video Demo & Fitting ------------------------------ The video etrailer provides for these bars is a nice touch. The demonstrator only shows the install of the rear bar which is a good call because the rear bar is the tricky one. You should do as shown and partially screw down one side, then the other, and repeat until both sides are fully screwed down. Its tempting to just bang out one side and do the other but because the fit is TIGHT that doesn't work. Point to note - she says that the mounts on the bars screw in with the smaller 20mm long screws and the bars screw to the mounts with the 25mm screws. That is THE OPPOSITE of what you should do (also the opposite of what the instructions say to do). :-) 25mm screws for mounts into rails is the ticket. Getting the rubber mounts into the brackets is easy in some cases, and a total PITA for others. Probably a QC issue - just use warm water and soap to make it simpler. I didn't have to take a mallet to the bars to get them into the mounts, they slipped right in. You will have to cut a small section of rubber channel guard to complete the block out of the accessories channel. This isn't mentioned in the instructions. Seems a little sloppy of Rhino not to cut the rubber to the right size so that this isn't necessary but whatever. As others note, you will strip the 'security screws' (must be a Aussie thing) if you just torque everything and rush the job. If you plan on taking the kit off and on the truck a lot, Taking my time this took me over an hour but it was my first time. Delivery ------------ I ordered late on the Thursday before Christmas from the very helpful Michelle S and with 2 day shipping was told to expect it on the 26th. Amazingly, the bars arrived on the SATURDAY, 36 hours after I'd placed my order. Faster than the 2 business day shipping I ordered! Road Test --------------- As I want the leave the bars on permanently, I really wanted bars that make no appreciable noise at speed. Did a quick highway test at up to 80 mph and couldn't hear the bars making any sound at all which is GREAT. Granted, I have a lift and AT tires - if you're running highway tires and regular suspension YMMV. Overall ----------- I like'em! Good value. Bit of a pain to fit but worth it.
