Today on our 2014 Honda CR-V we're going to be test fitting the Rhino-Rack Roof Rack System, consisting of part numbers RRVA137B-2, those are going to be the cross bars, part number RRRLKVA, and those are going to be the legs, and then part number DK284, and those are going to be the clamps holding it to your vehicle. We have the front one already installed. As you can see it has a nice aerodynamic shape. Let's go ahead and show you how the rear one goes on. We have it partially assembled on our table here already, with the parts laid out. Let's get right into it. We'll first take our leg, flip this around here so you can see a little bit better. This metal bracket here is going to slide into this channel here.
You have to make sure it's lined up. That will slide on like so. We'll flip that back around. Normally it does come with strips that you can cut to length so your interior measurements will be correct, however, since this is for a test fit, we'll go ahead and just use our measuring tape. You'll find these measurements in your instructions. We'll go ahead and snug this down with our included blue handle tightening tool.
I pushed it forward there a little bit. Just loosen it up and get it in the right position. That's good. Tighten down that screw right here. Once that's tightened down, we'll go ahead and put our end cap back into place and lock it down with the included tool as well. Our next step, I'll flip this back around to do this, is we'll attach our clamp.
Loosen up this bolt here all the way up. Slide that in place, line up our hole, and tighten it up just loosely for now, just to hold it in. I forgot one thing, our pad. You want to make sure, you can just barely see the arrow here, you want to make sure that's facing toward the front of the vehicle. Go ahead and put that in place as well. This just fits in. Alright, now we can open up the rear doors of our vehicle, and you're ready to put it in position.
Before I do that, your instructions are going to give you a couple measurements. You're going to have measurement A, which is going to be from the center door jamb here to the center of the front bar, and then the other measurement, which is what we're going to go by, from the center of the bar here to your other cross bar. Set that down gently, don't want to scratch the vehicle. Try to get a working measurement here, real quick. Again, this measurement will be in your instructions. It's going to be from center to center, so it needs to move up quite a bit. Moved it up too much. Alright, we'll go to the other side and do the same thing. That looks good there. I'm going to double check this measurement one more time. That's where it needs to be. Now I'm going to go ahead and get our cross bar situated here, just to make sure it sits evenly on both sides. I'm going to go ahead and eyeball it real quick in the back, here. This could come over just a little bit more. Alright, that's good. Now we can start tightening them down. We'll again take our blue handled tightening tool. That's a nice thing about this, is that you only need one tool to tighten this down to your vehicle. We'll just get it loosely tightened just so it's kind of snug up underneath the door here. That's good. Repeat for the other side. Some things you can put on this roof rack range from a wide variety of items such as bike racks, roof baskets, roof boxes, water sport carriers, amongst other things. Once we have this snugged up, we're going to go back and forth and tighten it down evenly. We're going to give about five or six turns each side until we have it completely tightened down. This side looks to be done pretty well. Finish up on this side. As I'm tightening this down you notice that at the end here there's this curve. Once this is completely tightened down, that curve will straighten out as you tighten it, like that. With both sides tightened down our final step is to put our locking covers in. These are all keyed alike for all the crossbars. Slide it in, take the included keys, lock it up. With that, that will do it for our Rhino-Rack Roof Rack System for our 2014 Honda CR-V.

This custom fit kit lets you mount 4 Rhino-Rack 2500 legs to your vehicle with a naked roof. Clamps mount to legs with bolts. Includes 4 clamps and 4 pads.Fit my Honda CRV perfectly and the whole kit was easy to install. The cargo box I ordered for in the racks perfectly. Of course there was some noise when traveling, and also reduced gas mileage, but that is to be expected. The very slight whistle when driving at higher speeds was easy to tune out. Service from etrailer was great and shipping was quick! I also appreciate all of the information and tutorials available. Would order from this company again.
This fit on my 2023 Honda CRV LC model.
This review covers the Rhino Rack 2500 Vortex Aero crossbars and associated parts (DK284, RRRLKVA, RRVA137S-2) for a naked roof installation on a 2018 Honda CR-V.
Very solid racks. We just took our first trip using them and the didn't budge. As recommended, a few days after installing, I tightened the bolts a bit. I'm not sure they needed it--just a little insurance.
The installation process was clear, but fairly detailed. It would be easy to miss a step, so take your time. Also, I tried a couple shortcuts in the order when installing on the car, but had to back track. So, go in the order they give you.
The racks easily supported our filled "pod" and a couple surfboards, strapped side-by-side. Sorry, no photos of the rack loaded. One thing to watch out for is that our old Thule pod almost didn't fit because of the thickness of the racks. I had to loosen the bolts almost entirely.
Of note: I feel that although I followed the measurements to the millimeter, the fit on our 2018 Honda CR-V wasn't exact. Where the pads sit on the roof of the car didn't align perfectly. I could have adjusted this by just re-trimming the rubber pads that go in the channels, but it's not a big deal, so I just left it.
Finally, I do have one concern. The angle of final installation doesn't really protect the racks from theft very well. The plastic plate that locks over the screw would allow someone with the proper tool to get up under it and loosen the bolts. That being said, someone so inclined could also just break the little plastic door or drill a hole in it to access the bolt. So, I guess it's just a deterrent anyway.
Overall, I'm very happy with the racks and etrailer.com! Despite shipping delays due to Covid-19, they were able to get the racks to me in time for an upcoming trip. I did choose to expedite shipping, but the cost was very reasonable.
Installation was relatively easy. Like others have mentioned here, make sure you pay attention to the instructions. Make sure the pads with arrows are pointing to the front of the car and you're relatively accurate with the suggested mounting measurements.
I rode with them on the car for about 900 miles - hot and rainy weather - and they make a really weird noise. Haven't been able to confirm if the noise came from the wind rushing in between the roof and the bars, or, as my uncle thinks, from the slot spaces under the bars that hold the 4 mounts.
I later attached a Leader Accessories Upgraded Roof Rack (64"x 39"x 5') carrier basket to the top of the rails and the noise went away. The carrier has a wind deflector in the front, go figure.
I drove another 1000 miles with the rails and carrier with some stuff in it and it handled very well.
In any case, I like the way they look on our 2016 Honda CRV SE. Admittedly, I'm scared to take the mounts off to see if they leave a dent or scratch. I'm pretty sure they will, but still happy with them.
I'll try and update this review after I remove them.
The clamps fit well on my 2014 Honda CRV. I took my time reading the instructions and attaching the cross rails to ensure proper attachment, and found the fit to work great. The clamps work well on the contour of the CRV.
I took a test drive, and did not encounter any problem.
Aloha from Hawaii!

Manuel,I have a 2014 CRV and I am not very mechanically inclined, how long did it take you? Are the instructions clear?
We received our rhino rack system, and in just over an hour we had it installed, the kayaks loaded and were on the toad.
We have had our rack about a year now. We have had no issues, except perhaps remembering to tighten the mounts every so often but that is us being lax.
I bought the rhino rack for my 2013 CRV to haul my kayak. Installation was pretty simple and easy to understand. It is super sturdy and strong. Spent significantly less going with the Rhino Rack name over Thule or Yakima and I'm very happy with how strong this rack is. It's rated up 165lbs witch is plenty for me. The staff at etrailer was very helpful with upgrading my order to 2 day shipping once I realized I needed to get my rack asap to get some striped bass in the bay with my kayak. I just called and in 5mins had my order from regular to 2 day shipping. I will use these guys for whatever else I might need rack wise.
The rack was shipped super fast and all of the boxes were on great condition. The measurements seemed a little off for the install on my 2014 CR-V. I was able to figure things out and get the rack installed properly. The rack is a great quality and I've already used it under with my kayak. Very little wind nurse while driving. I can't hear it at all with the windows up. I'm very happy with this purchase. I've never had a bad experience with etrailer.

The rack worked out great for two sit on top kayaks. The only drawback was I lost of the feet of the legs. They come off really easy if you removed the rack. They are $30 so dont lose them.
Fairly easy to install onto my 2017 Honda CR-V. The crossbars feel very sturdy and are securely attached to the vehicle. Took me about 30 minutes to get it installed and could be done even quicker if you get help from another person. The bars themselves are a little fat so my Thule ski rack has a super tight fit. There is very minimal wind noise, so I'll probably be getting a fairing for that. The instructions felt a bit jumbled but with just the measurements alone, you can install it with a bit of common sense.
I got these as part of the Rhino Rack cross bar set for our 2012 Honda CR-V. The set as a whole works great. I was impressed by the clear instructions and the little details like the decals they provide to put on your car and parts to quickly assemble without re-measuring after the first time. I was also pleased by the customer support. I called to inquire about shipping time because it looked like my parts were coming later than I needed them. William B was very courteous and helpful in getting my order out on time.
Very happy with the product and the easy to follow instructions! Looks great on my car! Thanks etrailer$
This review is for the Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Aluminum-Silver crossbars and
associated legs and custom fit kit (RRVA137s-2, DK284, RRRLKVA) necessary for a naked roof installation on a 2018 Honda CR-V. Just enter the model and year of your vehicle and etrailers website will tell you exactly what additional items are necessary to complete the install. etrailers installation instructions and videos are very helpful. The installation document provided is for more than one vehicle and for more than one style rack, so take your time to understand witch measurements apply to your installation and refer to the installation video if necessary. ON that note: The measurements given for front rack did not fit as nicely on the roof as the rear rack, I adjusted the the front rack measurements slightly. I would suggest trial fitting on your vehicle before cutting the metric rulers to final length. Stick On tags are supplied to indicate front, rear and the location to install on your vehicle. Once the rails are adjusted and tagged you can remove and reinstall the racks very quickly. Korren was very helpful in keeping me informed as to availability of items in stock and email shipping tracking. I am very satisfied with etrailers customer service and happy with the appearance and functionality of the Rhino racks.
Great rack. Easy to assemble and install. Mine is the one that attaches to the door frame. No issues with scratching the paint or any movement. I’ve used this on many camping trips and the extra space has been great! Really like the look of it on the CRV too.
1) The Rhino Rack system fit my car and works well. Make sure to measure everything twice before you order to make sure you get the right fit kit. 2) By contrast, etrailer was not a reliable seller and I won't turn to them again for gear. They sent me a kit that had obviously been half assembled and then returned by an earlier customer. I accept that they need to resell return items. However, they did not ensure that all the pieces were enclosed, and several custom bolts were missing. Customer service gave me a big run-around, delaying my installation, but eventually sent the missing bolts several weeks later. In sum: good product but bad buying experience.
Mechanically it works fine but .. the "howl" due to wind resistance is unacceptable. We did a one way trip with our kayak on top but on return without the kayak ( bare rails) we stopped to remove the roof rack due to the excessive noise. I do realize that you offered a "streamlined bar version" but didn't anticipate the loudness of the item we purchased. Is there a way to dampen that effect?
When storing the assembled rails the "pads" are not fixed to the rail/legs and come off (and get separated) I have resorted to trying them on to prevent loss. Nice if they could be better attached.
The roof rack arrived without "modified" roof width instructions which I assume you have now fixed. Not a big deal but it required a few phone calls to determine the correct mounting width.

Same as above. Great product excerpt as noted above. Never received a response to, “ is there away to dampen the wind howl?”
Overall I love the rack! Structurally, I have had zero issues confidently carrying gear on my roof of my 2016 CR-V on washboard dirt doads. My only issue is that the rack did not come with enough vortex strip inserts to fit into both aero bars so now they catch wind and create a whistling noise at speeds above 30 mph. I tried buying additional Rhino Rack brand vortex strips but for some reason they would not stay attached to the rack and gradually fell off. I closed off the slots that the strips fit into with electrical tape, an ugly but effective solution. If it were not for the whistling noise, I’d happily give them 5 stars but it can be annoying on longer drives so that is why I gave the bars 4 stars. Overall, great buy for the money!

Customer Service will reach out about the vortex strips. Enough should have came with the Item # RRVA137B-2 bars that you ordered. Item # RRM626 are the replacement strips that can be cut down to the size you need. If these are the replacements that you bought, I am not sure why they would be slipping out. I know some people use a bit of clear silicone.
Got this fit kit for a Rhino Rack system, and the process of ordering (through Becky) and getting it in a timely manner was great. Fits like a glove, and no problems using it with a cargo box on top.
Awesome rack. I found a good Rhino Rack assembly and installation video which made the process easy. My rack arrived two days early so I am all set for the weekend.
I was looking for roof racks for a Honda CRV to haul my kayaks. Found a "great deal" on a square tube Rhino Rack through etrailer.com and snatched it up. Upon receipt I had trouble fitting the racks to the vehicle per the enclosed Rhino Rack instructions - they just didn't look right when mounted to the vehicle. I contacted Rhino Rack by e-mail looking for a video or photos showing the racks on a CRV to confirm how they should look and was informed that the square tube style rack had been discontinued. They offered to send me new aero tubes at no charge. I admitted that I felt bad accepting the offer but, if they wanted to do that, I would gladly accept. The new aero tubes arrived and the assembly went together exactly as I imagined. I have yet to use the racks for hauling kayaks, but have hauled lumber, ladders, and various other long articles on the racks. They have performed very well, are easy to install and remove, and look good on the vehicle. Yes, they do add a bit of wind noise when driving but even that was not nearly as bad as expected. Based on the pricing I received from etrailer.com and beyond customer service I received from Rhino Rack,
I would not hesitate to recommend both companies to anyone.
Easy to install on our 2018 CRV. Very secure. Looks good. No issues.
We absolutely love these roof racks. Perfect fit on our 2012 Honda CR-V. Great for surfboards and snowboards.
I am very pleassed with our rhino rack serieus 2500 roof rack. It is very sturdy. We also like the idea that it is removeable and very easy to take on and off. We bought 2 sets of Malone J Pro 2 Kayak Carriers from another company that were suppose to fit with the rhino rack but the bolts were too short. Just a warning if you were planning to get those to go with the rhino rack. We were able to contact Malone and they sent us longer bolts so they should fit now.
Worked perfectly!!!
I think the Rhino Rack is an excellent product. The only problem I have is that my Thule bike rack brackets do not fit because the rack has wider rails. They were designed for the standard ~1" square Thule rails. Do you have additional Thule bracket kits that would fit the wider Rhino rails? Note that the rack works very well for carrying a canoe or kayak.

The racks are still working well, a year later. Ive used them to haul small loads of lumber and other items from the local big box hardware store.
