Today on our 2013 Kia Soul, we are going to do a test fit on the Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Roof Rack System. As you can see here, we are using the 49 inch vortex aero roof crossbars, they are part number is RRVA126B-2 that we have here. They are also available in silver, it's part number RRVA126S-2. The foot packs are part number RRRLKVA and the fit kit and pads that we are using are part number DK237. Now we've already got our front bar installed. I want to go over and install in the rear bar with you, can see how that's going to fit but first let me show you how to put our foot pack together. Now, I like to start with the pad, pads got a small arrow on it, the instruction tell us this should be pointing out and it also tells us that our removable pad here the arrow should be pointing out.
We are going to put those in place, arrow pointing out. There is a round tab and two square tabs, those are going to fit right into appropriate recesses in the bottom and you are going to find that it kind of feel snap into place as you put them in. We'll then place our foot pack right over our threaded insert here in the middle and then we'll thread in our screw or bolt, whatever you like to call it. With that in place let's open the rear doors. With those open we are simply going to place the rack right up on the roof line of the vehicle here. Now we've placed our front bar 31 centimeters to the center from the intersection of where our 2 doors meet.
We've done that measurement on both sides that helps to be sure that we have those feet in line with one another. From there we are going to measure 70 centimeters from the center of our front bar to the center of our rear bar. Now I like using the little edge that is right here on the cap. As long as you are using the same point on both of them, it doesn't necessarily have to be center to center, that seems to be an easier point to hold this fabric tape but use whatever point you want, just make sure it's the same on both of them. All right. This measurement for the rear it's also important to do this on both sides.
That's going to help to be sure that we have the front and rear bar parallel with one another. That will really help us down the road when we start adding some accessories and things like that on to have those running parallel. Now the fit should be to where our rubber pad, it's got a little angled notch in there. You can see right there, that should be just away, just a little bit away from touching the actual side because when we tighten them down, that's kind of flatten out. We'll be sure we've got about the same on both sides.
That side already had the play taken out as you can see there is a little slack here, we are just going to take the slack out of this one. Brings that clip right up around the underside of our roof line there. It's going to put a couple of turns on it and then I'll go over to the other side and do the same thing here, just a couple of turns, we want to tighten it down evenly from side to side, put equal pressure on to give us a good firm hold. Now as you can see we've got a pretty small overhang on the edge of the bar there. They do offer a 59 inch bar, if you want to upsize the kit that we've got here. That part number is RRVA150B-2 in the black or RRVA150S-2 in the silver. That's going to add approximately 5 inches to the end of either side and right now we've got an overhang that's just about 2 inches. We have about 7 inches of overhang if we do go to those upsize bars. Now we've got our bar torqued down nicely side to side, we've got our security covers here, they are going to all come keyed the same. We are just going to slide them in, push them down and we'll turn it from the zero or the O to the C to indicate that we've got that close. That's just going to help protect our roof bars, keep them from coming up messing on it. Place that in as you can see, I've already got the door shut on the driver side, shut the door on the passenger and that will complete today's look at the Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Roof Rack System, using part numbers RRVA126B-2, RRRLKVA and DK237 all on our 2013 Kia Soul. .

This custom fit kit lets you mount 4 Rhino-Rack 2500 legs to your vehicle with a naked roof. Clamps mount to legs with bolts. Includes 4 clamps and 4 pads.Seemed to work well with my 2012 Kia Soul. I have only had it on my car for a day at writing this so I can't really give it five stars. I would bump it up to five stars once its been on for a few months. Easy to install, and after doing a bit of research Etrailer.com Had the best deal, and support for installation.
Sturdy, solid and well built materials. Followed the install instructions to the letter but found I needed to widen the width of the front mounts by 10mm in order for the rubber foot to seat properly on the ledge as shown in the picture provided in the instructions. Unfortunately now the underside track has a gap. Other than that, it is very solid and should hold any amount of gear I choose to carry.
No matter how much I adjusted/tightened my roof rack legs on my 2013 KIA Soul, they never fit tightly and perfectly. When I finished my trip, my rack was loose. An expensive, $500 lesson.
Love this rack! It was easy to put together and install on my 2011 Kia Soul. It made me love my car!!! Even though other reviews have mentioned some wind noise, I have noticed no nose or anything else annoying about driving around with the rack. I've taken it on one big camping trip last week and it worked great!
Thanks to etrailer for all the great videos and instructions!
Awesome !!!! Looks great..easy to install. I highly recommend etrailer!! They are great. Bought a tow package for my Kia soul as well and love it.
Watch the video 4 times to make sure I assembled it correctly. But have to say it was easy especially for me!! I used the rack on my 2012 Kia Soul, which does not have much room for luggage. The rack worked fine.
If you are mechanically inclined. This roof rack system is easy to install. If you are a rookie, let a professional do the install.
Product came on-time & had no difficulties assembling or securing to vehicle.
Thanks!!
great product, I was very surprised at how great it actually fit my vehicle (2012 kia soul). thank you.
Purchased this item as a present for my grandson's Kia Soul.I was amazed by the rapid shipping, The product is excellent and fits the car as advertised. My grandson is happy with it.
One of the best and easiest pieces of hardware to use.
Pretty good instructions pictures could have been a little clearer. Very well made
Reasonable price and work good
The package came fast. Was easy to assemble . It is now on my car and I couldn't be happier.
Very satisfactory! The whole experience was great, the rack was easy to put together, very strong and sturdy, and looks great.
Just right
Fit our 2011 Kia perfectly. Well made and very solid. I am very pleased with my purchase.
Easy to assemble and appears very good quality.
I needed roof racks on my 2023 Silverado to accommodate the shape of my canoe. I had Yakima racks on the camper shell but the canoe was hitting the top of my truck. My Rhino racks showed up yesterday evening and I’m ready to go this morning!
This was a great purchase. I originally ordered roof crossbars from somewhere else and immediately returned them. They were a universal fit and were not secure at all when they were tightened down. They were from a third seller on Amazon. I found these on etrailer and I am glad that I made the purchase. I did not want to spend the money at first that these cost, but am glad that I did. The install was easy and the crossbars are very secure and hold up well with the cargo basket installed. They were well worth the money. Can't wait to try them out when we go camping. Thank you etrailer.
That was a little more difficult than I had planned it being. But, overall it went smoothly because I followed a video of someone doing an install. I love it!! I already put on my kayak rack too!!
Amazing product! This rack is as good as Thule and Yakama, and is about $100+ cheaper. I have owned both, and love this rack. As good of quality or better, and great accessories as well.
Hi George from etrailer,
The rack is awesome! Strong, firm hold and nice looking. When doing surveys, I put my ladders on the rack.
I highly recommend this etrailer.
