Today on our 2017 Nissan Maxima we're going to be taking a look at the Rhino Rack Roof Rack System, and that's going to consist of the Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars, part number RRVA126B-2. The Rhino Rack 2500 Series Legs, part number RRRLKVA, and the Fit Kit for the Rhino Rack Roof Legs, part number DK133. Now these bars are made of aluminum, so they're light weight and they're going to resist rust and corrosion, as well as having this weather stripping here, which is going to reduce wind noise and drag. Now these bars are 49" long. They have a 165 pound capacity, make sure you check with your manufacturer's weight rating on your roof to make sure your roof can handle that. The weather stripping also helps prevent dirt and debris from getting into the track, which will be great for adding any of your favorite accessories. It also provides a nice slip resistant surface for your cargo basket or any other cargo you may have attached. Now we already have half of our crossbar set up, and we'll go ahead and go to the other side and I'll show you how to put it together.
You're going to take your foot pack and this rubber pad right here, and you're going to want to line up the arrow right here on the bottom of the rubber pad, that's going to be facing toward the front of the vehicle. The arrow on the foot pad is going to be facing away from the vehicle. Simply just put it on, press it into place. Next we're going to take out clamp, and on our foot pack we're going to remove this bolt, and we're going to line up the hole and reinsert the bolt through the clamp. Now you're going to want to leave this pretty loose so that we can make any adjustments if we need to later. Now you'll notice this square plate right here, we're going to take that and we're going to slide this right into the end of the crossbar into this channel.
Now we're going to want to measure 20 centimeters from the end of this channel to the foot pack. Now we can take our included torque tool and tighten down the bolt. Now with our foot pack and everything secure we can go ahead and put the end cap back on our crossbar. Simply insert it into the crossbar and lock it down. Now we can go ahead and open up the doors and get ready to put the bars on. Now we're going to want to measure 70 centimeters formt he center of this crossbar to the center of our rear crossbar.
We're going to do the same thing on the other side to make sure everything's squared up, and we're ready to tighten everything down. Now you do want to make sure that when you're tightening this down, that you do it evenly on both sides, so what I like to do is tighten one down until it's just making contact and snug. Then I'll go to the other side. With both sides snug we can really start cranking them down, and the nice thing about this torque tool is when you reach the proper torque the curved end will straighten out, and that's how you know that it's tightened enough and it's torqued properly. As you can see it will straighten out and that's how we know we have the proper tension on it. One of the nice features is it does come with a locking end cap. So simply slide it on, lock it up, and they're nice and secure.
We'll go ahead and lock the other side as well. Now we're ready to load up our gear and hit the road. That'll finish up the look at the Rhino Rack Roof Rack System on our 2017 Nissan Maxima.

Customer support was great. After reading the instructions and watching the video on how to install the Rhino Rack installation went well. The ski rack has one draw back, if you leave car out over night with skis locked in the ski rack, every thing can be easily stolen. All you need is an Allen wrench to remove the ski rack with the skis. The roof rack has locking covers the prevent theft of the roof rack. The ski rack can be easily removed from the roof rack.

Installed this and 65" Vortex Areo crossbars on a 2015 RAM 5500 chassis cab/crew cab. It is listed to fit 1500 to 3500 RAM's and neither Rhino-Rack or etrailer would confirm it would fit the 5500. My research suggested there was not much, if any difference, between the 3500 and 5500 crew cab, so ordered it any way. Installation was relatively easy, fit seemed to be good and have made multiple 200-300 mile trips with a 75lb kayak. Good price, great customer service and fast delivery through etrailer.

The rack was fairly easy to mount on my Durango. I was able to load my kayak from the side since I have a bike rack on the rear. I use a bathroom rug and flip the boat up on the car, then slide the boat directly onto the rack. I only carry it this way for short drives to local lakes. There is some wind noise at 50 mph.

We originally got this rack system (Custom DK Fit Kit for 4 Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Roof Rack Legs - Naked Roof Item #DK427) mostly for our Kayak racks on our 2015 Ford F-150, which worked great. Then we totaled our F-150 and the racks actually fit on our new 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 HD P/U. We took it on a 16,000 mile trip from the East Coast to Alaska with both 12 ft. kayaks on the top. Through the various speeds (sometimes up to 80 mph), weather conditions, and the high crosswinds of the mid-West, the racks help up perfectly. No issues or problems. I would recommend these to anyone.

I've had this Rhino Rack 2500 series for one year. I've outfitted the rack with one "J hook" style kayak holder and one "cradle" kayak holder. I am able to securely travel with two kayaks on the roof of my 2014 Honda Civic sedan without issue. During the one year I've had this rack I've traveled over 1,000 miles with two 12 foot+ kayaks on my roof. I can set cruise control at 70mph and not worry about the rack failing. I rate it four (4) stars because the cradles will sometimes move during a long drive and have to be readjusted. This is something that is more cosmetic in the since it looks slightly off, however it does not affect the racks security.

Fairly easy installation. Read the instructions thoroughly before hand and get familiar with the parts. Take care when installing mounting studs onto car itself so as not to strip or cross thread them. Once installed they look great.

Fit my Honda CRV perfectly and the whole kit was easy to install. The cargo box I ordered for in the racks perfectly. Of course there was some noise when traveling, and also reduced gas mileage, but that is to be expected. The very slight whistle when driving at higher speeds was easy to tune out. Service from etrailer was great and shipping was quick! I also appreciate all of the information and tutorials available. Would order from this company again.

I bought these to be able to haul 4 kayaks on the roof of my 2017 Ram Mega cab while pulling our fifth wheel. We have use the Rhino Rack several times including a trip from Kentucky to Montana and back with no issues. I highly recommend the Rhino Rack for extra cargo capacity on top of your pickup. The instructions were good and installation was pretty straight forward. I plan to take the system off in the winter which will be easy to do.

After a year the rack has stood the test of time and daily use. I've set it properly and for the most part forgotten about it. I've used the rack to haul a ton of furniture properly tied down to my sedan's roof.Ive also postponed getting a larger car by gaining space in the roof box. I still recommend this product.

This was the kit for my 2020 equinox. The spacing of the feet on the vortex aero bars was incorrect I had to use the Euro sizes. Went back and forth with customer service trying to get confirmation that was the right size but it never was confirmed. Everything is installed now and sturdy.

The Rhino Rack 2500 was a bit of a challenge to assemble and mount on my F150. But it is a beauty - rugged and well made. I also bought the Thule Hullavator kayak assist rack and was able to fit it onto the Rhino cross bars with minimal trouble. I feel great about the rack system, and appreciate the help from etrailer's team.

Very well built. Instructions are easy to follow and the whole unit feels very solid. I bought this for a last minute trip so we could bring our kayaks with us when the truck bed was full of stuff. The brackets are lined with rubber and the roof brackets have rubber feet so there won't be any paint damage once I remove the rack. Overall im very happy with this set of crossbars. The kayak rack is from another retailer.

I bought this last yr to haul my kayaks on my Toyota camry. Being 5'2", getting them on top of my SUV was next to impossible for me and my daughters. Since then, I have traveled from Michigan, all the way to the west coast with two 13' ft kayaks. These racks have been absolutely perfect in every aspect. I mounted them myself, and checked them regularly to see if they needed adjusted. Not once did they loosen or move. They with stood Traveling with speed limits reaching 80 mph on I84, along with the windy weather on our cross-country trip. My car moved around from the high winds, and the racks stayed put. These racks have by far reached and surpassed every expectation I had when purchasing them. I would not recommend another. Only thing I would recommend is showing installation for both front and back bars, since the measurements are slightly different for both. As I had to figure this out my self, after watching the installation video. Thank you Rhino for providing such a high quality product.
