Video Transcript for Setting up the Custom DK Fit Kit for 4 Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Roof Rack Legs on a 2008 Toyota Prius

Speaker 1: Today on our 2008 Toyota Prius we'll be taking a look at and showing how to install the Rhino-Rack roof rack system. This is going to consist of the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero crossbars, part number RRVA126B-2, the Rhino-Rack 2500 Series legs, part number RRRLKVA, and the fit kit for our Prius, part number DK079. Keep in mind that our crossbars are also available in silver, part number RRVA126S-2.The Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero crossbar system is a great solution for carrying your vehicle accessories on your roof, whether those are bike racks, cargo baskets, ski and snowboard carriers, or kayak carriers. The aerodynamic shape of bars along with the weather strip on the inside is going to help to reduce wind noise and drag. If we remove our end cap we can see that our weather strip is easy to remove. We can easily cut it down and put in channel-mounted accessories.

Our foot pack comes with a lockable cover to help prevent theft and tampering of your roof rack system. The fit kit is custom cut to our vehicle to give us a nice secure fit, and any portion that touches our vehicle is going to have a rubber coating to prevent any scratches or abrasions. It's easily protected by our lockable cover. The Rhino-Rack roof rack system has a 165 pound weight capacity, though you do want to double check your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure your roof can withstand that much weight. Now here everything on our table is what's included in our kit. Before we install it, we're just going to show you the pieces. We have our crossbar.

This will come in a count of two. We'll have our end caps. We'll get four of those, along with keys to lock those. The four foot packs that come with our kit. We'll have four clamps and four pads with our fit kit and four end caps for our crossbar, keys to lock that down, a tool to tighten everything.

Then the only thing we've provided ourselves is a flat tape measure. Now to begin our actual install we're going to remove our bolt here. We'll take our clamp, place that over the spot where we removed our bolt, and replace our bolt. We'll want to tighten this down just enough so that our clamp stays in place. Now we're ready to flip our foot pack over our. We can take the bottom portion off.

We're going to line up the arrows on the plastic part, as well as on our pad. Make sure that both of them are facing the same way. We'll close up any of the holes. Then we want to make sure that the arrow faces towards our clamp or to the outside of our foot pack. Now we can take our foot pack and slide it into place on our crossbar. Now with our kit you'll get these inserts that are actually measurements on here. We can use this to insert into our channel along the bottom and measure out the distance that we need. But for demonstration purposes we're just going to use our flat tape measure at this point, measuring out to 17.7 centimeters. We'll take our included tool and we're going to tighten down our bolt here. Now we can place on our end cap and take our included tool and lock that into place. We've gone ahead and opened up our vehicle doors. We're going to start by placing our crossbar in place so that our clamps sit around our door frame. Now we'll measure from the center of our front clamps to the center of our back. This is going to be our crossbar spread measurement at 70 centimeters. Again, we'll do the same thing to the other side. Now we can take our included tool and we're going to tighten down our bolt. I like to start by the tightening down my bolt so that our clamp sits just up against the door frame. Again we'll do the same thing to the other side. Now we'll know when our clamps are completely tightened down when our skinnier end of our torque tool is completely straight like you see here. To complete our install we'll place on our end cap for our foot pack, lock into place, and now we're ready to load up our gear and hit the road. That's going to be our completed look at the Rhino-Rack roof rack system on our 2008 Toyota Prius.

The pad kit was part of an order for a complete Rhino-Rack Aero Bar roof rack bars. The parts fit my 2015 Tundra perfectly and snug the bars up tight with no marring on the truck. Special thanks to etrailer for their customer service. The initial shipping box arrived damaged and taped up by the shipper. The entire fit kit was missing. One call to etrailer and they had a replacement kit on the way.

by:

Rock solid rack-much stronger than previous Yakima racks on previous vehicles. Fast shipping, arrived a day early. Great price! Nice youtube videos made assembly and installation easy. Already got it installed and took our canoe out-didn't budge.

Ive had the Rhino Rack for a year now and its worked out great. I attached a cargo carrier to it &amp on several occasions stuffed it full so it was quite heavy. The Rhino Rack never moved. Its a great product. I would recommend it and buy it again if I got another car that didnt have a rack.

As said on your web page, setting proposed on the dk are wrong. I estimate myself to fit the crewmax roof.
Rest looks ok. Pad fix are cheap but i will try soon.

I love it but I want a padding for surfboards and a couple straps to strap the surfboard down. Do you sell those too?

Bought a rack set for my 08 Prius and have used them for a year- I lOVE THEM! I purchased a cargo bag separately (about $30) and I can haul so much now! We’ve camped a long weekend with 3 adults and one kid and fit everything (tents, sleeping, bags, cooler, etc) The tacks we’re easy to get on, they are a great quality at a great price! Highly recommend!

by:

Planned to get the Thule racks, but they were back ordered and could not be delivered before a planned trip that I needed the racks for. I called eTrailer to see if they had another recommendation and Cole could not have been more helpful. She walked me through the options and ultimately I bought the Rhino-Rack and could not be happier with the simplicity, the sturdiness and the overall quality. I've no doubt that the Thule's would have also been a great choice, but I saved around $100 and am completely satisfied.

there was some total confusion on what I wanted to order so I have to send back my whole order and pay for shipping not happy about that. I asked the question about what I wanted to order before I purchased and they got it all wrong.

I do have the roof rack systems that would install on the camper shell of your 2017 Toyota Tundra. Basically, you have tracks that will be drilled into the camper shell and then the towers with the bars will attach to the tracks. The one that I would recommend is part # Y02-490B

by:

Product is good quality, and reasonable price. good directions for installation and was pretty easy to assemble and install. Found it to be very adjustable for desired placement on the 2015 Tundra roof.

by:
Toyota Tundra

Service from ETrailer was excellent. Personal and very helpful service (kudos to Michele S.) . Prompt shipping and items exactly as described. The installation videos on their website were helpful but I still needed to follow the written instructions. Without hurrying it took me about an hour and a half to assemble and install the rack on my Tundra. It fit very well and feels very secure. Still need to take it out onto the road. If anything bad shows up I'll post an updated review but I really don't expect any problems. I've used racks like these before (not from Rhino) and this looks like a pretty solid piece of equipment.

by:

I would definitely recommend this product. I researched a lot of options and these rhino racks are just as comparable to Yakima and Thule, with a much better price. Drove from California to Canada and back with 2 surfboards, no problem.

by:

The roof racks that I purchased have been great. They fit on my vehicle perfectly and work well for carrying my canoe.

by:

I had to move the front bar forward a little bit so that the kayaks don’t hit the cap of our fifth wheel during turns.

by:

Product was as specified and of great quality. I use this product to haul 2 kayaks while pulling a travel trailer. It service this purpose extremely well.

by:
2010 Honda Insight

This roof rack was very easy to install. It seems very sturdy on my can and I can't wait to get my kayaks on them. There was nothing missing and the directions were sport on.

by:

This product looks great on our truck! It was missing a part from the manufacture's packaging, but after reaching out to etrailer customer service, they were able to get the missing part shipped out to me. Very much a happy customer! This looks great on my truck as well!

by:

Everything worked great. It let us mount our kayak rack on a prius

by:

Easy to assemble and mount. I moved a 14' wooden sailboat mast and 7' boom 1300 miles to Washington state using the rack for the first time. It worked perfectly! Thanks

by:

Metal legs that grab onto paint could use more padding to protect paint. But just my opinion. They did a good job. Drove 85 and they didn’t move.

by:

Just received the package will open it this weekend and work on it

by:

easy instructions and great fit

by:

Awesome! Delivered on time, watched the video for my vehicle a few times and now it's up. I will be purchasing another product for my vehicle from these guys soon.

Yes, you will be able to use the Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Roof Rack # TH898 with the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero roof rack having 59" crossbars. You will need the Crossbars # RRVA150B-2, Legs # RRRLKVA and Fit Kit # DK079 to complete the rack on your 2018 Toyota Tundra Double Cab.

  • Roof Rack Recommendation for 2010 Toyota Tundra Double Cab and CrewMax Cab
I reached out to a representative of Yakima who told me the Custom Fit Kit for Whispbar will not fit a 2010 Toyota Tundra; it is designed for Chevy and GMC trucks. If you are looking for a roof rack for your Tundra and have either a Double Cab or CrewMax Cab I recommend a Rhino Rack roof rack, which consists of: - Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA150B-2 - Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Legs # RRRLKVA - Custom DK Fit Kit # DK079 This roof rack uses aerodynamic bars that have rubber vortex...

  • 2007 Toyota Tundra Roof Rack Recommendation for Bare Roof
Great questions! The Rhino-Rack Aero Bar Roof Rack for Camper Shells # Y02-480B will only fit the cab of your 2007 Toyota Tundra if you're willing to drill into it - this roof rack style is typically installed on a camper shell. The tracks are 2" wide so you unfortunately wouldn't be able to fit the tracks into that channel anyways. Instead of installing tracks on the roof of your Tundra I recommend picking up the Rhino-Rack Vortex system that clamps to your door jambs for fitment: 59"...

  • Can the Rhino Rack Roof Rack for a 2018 Toyota Tundra Hold a Rooftop Tent
The Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbar System part # RRVA150B-2, part # RRRLKVA, and part # DK079 is a great option for a 2018 Toyota Tundra. It like most roof racks has a 165 lb weight capacity. Therefore, you wouldn't be able to use a rooftop tent unless it offered additional support from a ladder like the Yakima SkyRise HD Tent part # Y07436. • Roof Rack Recommendation For 2021 Toyota Tundra Double Cab
There is one option for a roof rack that fits your 2021 Toyota Tundra Double Cab that I recommend above the rest, which is from Rhino-Rack. The reason I like this option the best is because it is the best value for a roof rack; the quality is the same (or higher) than similar brands, but at a better price point. Essentially, what you get with Rhino-Rack is a durable, quiet roof rack without having to pay to have a certain brand name on the crossbars. The parts that make up the Rhino-Rack...
