Colin: Hey everyone, it's Colin here at etrailer and today we have a 2017 Nissan Rogue. We're going to do a test fit of the Thule WingBar Evo roof rack system. Now with this roof rack system, it's going to mount to the raised side rails of your Rogue. It's going to be a really great accessory, so you can get your favorite rooftop accessories loaded up. Whether it's a bike rack, cargo box, maybe even a kayak carrier. Now we have our 47 inch long WingBar Evo crossbars.
We have them in black right now, but they're also available in silver, so if you think that'll match your Rogue better just check out our website. The WingBars are going to have an aerodynamic shape to them, it's going to help cut down on wind noise and drag. We're also going to have rubber stripping up top, making sure that no air can get into the T-track and then cause any whistling. When we want to access the C-slot, it's a lot easier than a lot of other roof racks. Some other ones you might have to pull the end cap off, right here you saw it just twisted that little cap up and off. And instead of having to pull our rubber strip out and then cut it to length, we can just slide it in between the two strips to our desired location, then tighten it down and we are all good.
Now we'll close that end cap. Now down here, we're going to have our Evo raised rail feet, these make installation really a breeze. It's a lot easier to install this type of roof rack when compared to the traditional naked roof ones where it has a pad and a clamp, and it's got to go under your door frame and your measurements just have to be exactly right. But this one, you get it on your roof. Make sure your crossbar spreads correct, and then load it up.Now we're going to have rubber coatings all the way around the side of our clamp.
You can see how it really does a great job of matching the contours of our raised side rails. That rubber is also going to help make sure it doesn't harm or scratch the finish of our raised side rail. Now, if we come back to the front to our end cap, you'll see it's very easy to get off, we can just pop it off like that. All we have is that tightening bolt you'll do get a tool included to tighten it up or loosen it. And once we do that, it's going to have a really good hold on our raised side rails.
Put the end cap back on. You'll see we have a plastic lock right here we can replace that with the one key system from Thule. That'll just provide more security for your roof rack. Now, I do you want to give you guys a few measurements. First from the top of our roof to the bottom of our WingBar, it's going to be two and a half inches. It's going to be more than enough space to be able to get your clamp-on accessories underneath your WingBars, without damaging the top of your roof. And because our sunroof opens up underneath the moon roof, you're not going to have to worry about that making contact with your accessories. Now, if we go from the top of our roof to the top of our wing bar, it's going to be three and a half inches. You just want to keep that in mind for any close quarter situations or low clearance situations that you have that height added onto your roof. Now we are also going to have a 220 pound weight capacity for this wing bar setup. That's a really nice weight capacity, especially for an arrow bar system, but always double check with your Rogue owners manual, make sure your roof can handle that weight. Now that we've gone over some of those features, let's show you guys how to get this installed. Assembly is very easy. The bolts are going to assemble the same way, we got three of our Evo raised rail feet installed. This one's going to go on the same way, you can see the track on the bottom right here. The tabs on our raised foot are going to go into the track, from there just grab your end cap, put it on, and now we'll get it on our roof. There's nowhere specific you need to set it, just get it up there for now. Get it over that raised side rail. Now we'll measure our crossbar spread. Now there's no set measurement, we're just going to measure from the front of our rear wing bar to the front of our front wing bar. Usually I'll base it off of whatever accessory I'll be using that day, but do make sure that it's at least 27 inches and make sure you get it accurate on both sides. Don't be afraid to double check it. Now when tightening it down I always like to start by kind of just pushing down, making sure to get it as flush as possible to the raised side rails. Then from there, we'll just use our finger to tighten on that bolt and get that back clamp as tight as we can get it with our fingers. It's a little bit easier to do this rather than use the tool and then we'll take our tool and tighten it down the rest of the way.And what's really cool is that this tool is going to let us know when it's tight enough, when you hear those clicks you're going to know it's tight enough. Then just repeat this process for the other side. And now we're going to take our end caps, put them on both sides. And before you go just make sure you give it a good shake. Make sure that it doesn't move back and forth or up and down. Once you've done that, you're ready to load up your favorite Thule rooftop accessories, and then hit the road. Well thank you all for watching, but that's going to do it for our test fit of the Thule WingBar Evo roof rack system on our 2017 Nissan Rogue..
