Adam: What's going on, everybody Adam, here with the trailer. Today, we're going to be taking at the Yakima LockNLoad Platform-Style Rack on our 2020 Chevrolet Silverado. It's going to be a great way to add a little bit of spice to your guys' Silverado. It's going to add a really cool tactical off-road look, and this is going to be built for off-road applications. So if you guys are putting it on your roof or on these BedRock HD bars on the bed, it's going to be able to hold against all of those bumps and rattles and stuff if you guys do plan on going off-road. It is going to be made of aluminum, so you don't have to worry about it rusting away over time, has a nice, really cool looking black powder coated finish, kind of goes with the OEM look of all the black trim on our Silverado here.I have it on the bed right here. I kind of like this look just because I love the bed bars that Yakima has.
And also, I don't really want to add a whole lot of height to the truck itself. With it being on the bed, we're not going to be exceeding the cab height, so this is going to help for clearance issues, especially when we start stacking stuff up. As of right now with the HD bars and the platform, we are going to have only about 5-1/2" added to the height of the bed of the truck. In this orientation, we're going to get about 330 pounds of weight capacity, and that's just because we're using the HD bars and it's on our bed. If we're not using the HD bars and it's on our roof, we're going to have about 165, but we want to make sure that we don't exceed the vehicle's weight.
All you guys have to do is just go on your owner's manual in the glove box, and you guys can find that out. This is going to be great for all your wraparound accessories, also T slot accessories. We have different slots on every single rail going all the way from the front, all the way to the back. So you guys are going to be able to get a lot of cool accessories just to customize your guys' ride. The nice thing about having this on the bed, not only are we going to protect whatever's in the bed a little bit more just because it's covered. Also, we can use the bed of our truck just how we usually use it.
Obviously, we're going to have a little bit of height limitations, but that's not necessarily a big deal for me. This way we can throw stuff on the bottom. We can throw accessories and stuff on the top, tie it all down. done deal. So this is why I like it in the bed, but again, it's all about what you guys want.We picked this specific size for the truck just because we do have a 5-1/2' bed, and it is going to measure about 60" x 54" So with your 5-1/2', we are going to have almost full coverage.
We're not going all the way to the bulkhead of our cab and we're not going all the way back to the tailgate, and we're about 2 to 3" from each side. But we do have bigger sizes available here at each trailer, so if you guys plan on completely covering the bed, we do have sizes that'll fit.So we did secure it to bars using these crossbar clamps here. These are going to be able to fit pretty much any bar you guys throw at it just because the HD bars are about 1-1/2" thick, and we didn't have any issues with not having enough threads. We are going to have a lot of adjustability. With the HD bars, yes, we are going to be able to move these throughout the bed to get the right fit. But if you guys are a little limited with your crossbar spread, we can actually go ahead and take this portion and move it to make sure it's going to fit onto our whatever roof rack you guys have a lot easier. So just know you guys do have that adjustability and it is going to be very, very simple to be able to get it to fit very nice. The clamps are really simple and easy to install. So let's just go ahead and show you guys how.Now with our platform up on our bars, we're going to go ahead and cinch it down. To do that, we're going to grab this bracket here. What we're going to do is we're going to fit it underneath the platform, but on top of the bars. And this little section here is going to wrap around this little bar down here, kind of like this. There's going to be little holes that are going to line up and we're going to bolt those to them for now, kind of just lined up the best you can. Set the platform down. We can go ahead and grab our short little nuts. We're going to go ahead and put those in. There's a little silver piece here. It's got threads in it and we'll go ahead and line it up. Can kind of get them started with their hands first. It is going to feel a little tighter than just a normal bolt that doesn't have any Loctite on it. So just be mindful of that. Once we get them in there, go ahead and take our tool and tighten it up. It's going to be the same exact thing for all four of our sides here. Now we go ahead and take our piece underneath. What's nice about this piece is we do have a rubber insert here, so we don't have to worry about scratching the underneath of our bars. So all you really need to do is line it up. We are using the Yakima BedRock HD bars, which are a little thicker, but we still have enough threads to get it all done. We're going to go ahead and put a washer down and then our nylon lock nut. We're going to do that on both sides. It is relatively hard to get to, going to be honest. And we don't really have a whole lot of room, so we won't be able to use a socket really. Just do your best to cut through it with your hands, and then do the other one while still up here just because if we start tightening this down on one side without the other one on, it's going to get a little difficult to get to. And we want to make sure it's nice and even, so all that pressure is evenly distributed throughout the little bracket here. So bear with me.All right. So now we're on. What I suggest doing, we're going to need a 10 mil, but if you guys do have a wrench like this, we can go ahead, kind of put it on and start tightening it down. Once it starts getting tight, want to make sure not to overtighten these, but definitely enough to make sure it gets a nice fit. Now, double check, it's nice and solid. So we can do that same exact process for all four of our sides. Now, with all that done, we just want to make sure that everything's nice and tight. It's not really shifting over anywhere, and if so, you're pretty much ready to load up whatever you guys want.Well, everyone, that just about does it for a look at the Yakima LockNLoad Platform-Style Rack on our 2020 Chevrolet Silverado.

Review from a similar LockNLoad in Roof Basket
Mounted to the top of my 2018 F-150 Super Crew Cab. Had Yakima Baselines, with HD Bars, HD Bar Adapters and the locknload crossbar adapters. Wished I was able to install it without crossbars as it requires that I buy them, also adds a bit of height to the the locknload as well. Very well built, had my wife (125lbs) walking around on it after I mounted the locknload. Took about an hour to assemble the locknload and maybe another hour or two of adjusting the bars to where I wanted the locknload to sit on the roof. Other than it looks a bit too high I do love them. Will probably see what I can do about lowering the locknload in the future. 824577
