This is exactly what I was looking for to add a little extra space to my 2011 Toyota Rav4. It was extremely easy to put together and install. It is strong enough that I even added my canoe racks to the side bars so now I can have the storage and have my boat racks on top as well. I was expecting a lot more road noise but I cant really tell the difference. So far so good. eTrailer had fast, free shipping and it was right on time and packaged well. 229421

The Rola roof basket was easy to assemble, and easy to install onto the roof of my car as well. Looks nice, no road noise that I noticed and was reasonably priced also. 561772

Some quality control issues Overall, I like the basket, think it is fairly priced, and am happy with it. However, there were two quality control issues that should be noted. I'll mention those in a moment. The overall unit is solid and looks good on my black Jeep Liberty. It fit well on the OEM crossbars and was straightforward to install. The unit is pretty heavy, but it has a really solid, substantial feel that makes me think it will securely hold whatever I put up there (within the 130 lb limit). Now, on to the complaints. These are really small things, but are still worth noting. First, there is a noticeable dent in the main large tube on the left front side. It is clearly a factory defect because the dent has been powder coated along with the rest. If I had bought it locally, I would have taken it back and exchanged it. Having had it shipped, I simply cannot go through that. Second, there was an error in the placement of the holes where you use screws to hold the two halves together. Three of the four screw holes lined up fine, but on one of the smaller tubes, the inner hole didn't match the outer hole. I had to drill my own hole to set the screw. These aren't major problems, but it's sloppy on both counts. On balance, I would recommend the product and would not make a different choice if I had it to do over. Also, I should note that etrailer did everything you could ask for. I ordered it on a Saturday evening and they shipped it on Monday morning. It arrived Wednesday. You can't ask for more than that. 2065

Went together fine. Rubber joint covers were problematic so I did not use at all. Looks real nice. Finish blends well with our 2015 Subaru Outback. Needed a step ladder from street level to roof to install. I suspect I’ll travel with a small fold flat step stool to load and unload stuff from up top. I don’t like standing in open door frame to load and unload roof cargo. 440094

bought the basket, and inno crossbars, and rola flat strap cargo net (59200) all from e trailer in three separate purchases. all were received in good condition. used them on 2014 Ford Flex. Put them on in San Diego, with 6 bags in basket. the cargo net worked very good, but decided to add two straps to make sure, LF to RR, RF to LR. had no issues going to san Francisco, montery, and los angeles traffic both ways. wind noise could be heard at 75 mph, into a 35 mph wind, but was not horrible. drove back to Oklahoma with empty basket, and again no wind noise except for 83 mph and a 30 to 40 mph cross wind. easy assembly, for both basket and bars. 215764

We have a 2015 Subaru Outback. It has side rails and cross bars but nothing to keep our roof top cargo bag from sitting directly on the roof. So we were looking for a basket for mounting to the rails and holding the cargo off of the roof, saw good reviews on this one and felt it was a good price. Since we had a limited amount of time left before needing it, I called into etrailer and spoke with Vince. He was very easy to converse with, answered my questions, took my order over the phone so that the basket could be sent out as soon as possible and even told me how I could get a price match applied to my purchase. I received the basket yesterday, assembled it and mounted to my Subaru this morning. It is a very sturdy piece of equipment, well made, fit well, looks good and will certainly hold all of the items we will need to haul. The basket comes in 2 halves which you put together using rubber gaskets to cover the connecting screws and joints. There is the deflector that is mounted to the front using 4 screws and then the mounting brackets that are used to mount it to the roof crossbars. Our bars were 30" apart center to center and everything fit perfectly and looks great. We will be putting it to use this weekend on our beach trip. 224645

The Rola roof rack fits nicely on my Lexus 400h. I travel with small outboard motor and a dirt bike so it will be used to keep my jerry cans (mixed and unmixed fuel) on the roof of the car. Eight self tapping screws are needed to assemble the unit...four are used to attach the two halves of the rack, and four are used to attach the wind deflector to the leading edge of the rack. Unfortunately, the bag of hardware that came with my rack only had six screws 271941

Last year just after buying the rack I put it to good use on a long 16,000 trip, Ontario, Yukon, BC, Utah, Ontario. Only disappointment was getting my jerry cans stolen, but they didnt take the rack! Ive just put the rack on the SUV again, getting ready for another trip to the Pacific coast.

The unit is solid and a nice addition. Road noise was a bit of an issue but it calmed down once I realigned the rack with the car. It was slightly off being parallel with the car. The only negative is rust has started at a couple of the welded joints even though it is regularly cleaned and a coat of wax applied. I may need to repaint it or take it in to have it powder coated. I get a lot of compliments on the rack and in my opinion, it looks beefier and better than the pricier competition. I would not hesitate to purchase another if needed for another project vehicle. 716911

Loaded up luggage for 5 people and drove to Florida on top of my 2012 Dodge Journey. With a couple of tarps and proper ratchet straps and bungy chords, it worked like a charm, and saved me quite a bit of cargo room in the back. Had minimal wind resistance and hardly affected my gas mileage at all. Even wind noise on top was not significant. I highly recommend the Rola Rooftop Basket. 166962

The roof rack is better built than I thought it would be. It's securely mounted and doesn't move around when you grab it and give it a good hard tug. It looks great on my truck. Apparently, Rola doesn't include sealant for the joints as in previous versions. However, the joints are nicely powder coated, so that should help. I'll pick up some black silicone and put a small bead around the joints anyway, so it's all good. This was my first purchase from etrailer, and I have to say I'm impressed. I ordered it Saturday afternoon and it was delivered Wednesday. Even more amazing is there was a bad storm and their warehouse was struck by lightning, crippling their computers. They STILL got it to me quickly. Kudos to etrailer, I'll 11706

Great Product I am pleased with how good it looks on my 4runner. Install was a breeze. It took a while for it to get here due to it being on backorder, but once it shipped on a Friday I had it on Tuesday. There were no holes drilled on the basket for the wind deflector to mount to. I'm just going to drill them myself. Other than that, I am very pleased.. 3456

bryan if you dont mind answering my question did you buy the extension I have a 2004 4runner without extension it is too small? Or can I use extension on my 2004 4runner thanks in advance.

The minimum corss bar spread needed for the basket with or without the extension is 26-1/4 inches, center to center. The basket alone will go up to 37-1/2 inch spread, in 3-3/4 inch increments. The basket with extension will go all the way from 26-1/4 to 52-1/4 inches spread, again at 3-3/4 inch increments. Check out the link to the instructions on the 59504 basket, it should help clear things up if I have not.

The Rola Roof Mounted Cargo Basket arrived in "new" condition three days from time of order. The rack is sturdy, appears to be of good quality, and has solid and easy to use attachments for connecting to the top of the car. The dimensions are a good fit not only for the looks of my 2017 Subaru Outback, but also are a good match for the 30" distance between the Subaru cross bars and the width of the cross bar supports. There is an increase in wind noise as speed goes above 60 mph as is to be expected in an otherwise quiet car. The rack's interior dimensions are a good match for a 44 x 34 x 17 roof top cargo bag with an inch or two to spare. 353278

Looks sharp on the 2014 Subaru Outback!!! I have been looking at the various cargo baskets for weeks and finally decided on the Rola Cargo Basket. I couldn't be happier. The basket fits perfectly on the new Outback. It doesn't look to small like the Yakima Loadwarrior (a.k.a the OEM cargo basket) or too large like the Yakima Megawarrior. It also isn't cheaply made like some of the other cargo baskets. Assembly was a breeze and I highly recommend purchasing/using a all weather silicone to prevent rust. Etrailer is a great company and upgraded my shipping for free! Delivery took about 3-4 business days and their customer service staff kept me updated along the way. 114776

It was my pleasure. I dont usually write reviews but in this case, etrailer is an excellent company and it was the least I could do. The Rola basket has worked really well and have used it several times on family vacations. Im actually in the market to by a new, bigger cargo basket Yakima Load Warrior wextension and I was wondering if etrailer offers any discounts for returning customers? I would be more than happy to write another review with pictures of this helps!

I’ve had my Rola roof rack for a little over a year now and it’s great! I, personally, think it looks better than the Yakima Warrior load and it’s a better deal for great quality. I purchased the extension as well and it fits great on my 07 4Runner. I’ve attached a high lift jack and shovel mount, as well as a snowboard rack for the winter. It’s been everywhere and back and is truly no comparison to the Yakima warrior load. 635386

I purchased the Rola Roof Mounted Cargo Basket for my 2017 Outback Subaru several weeks back. We were in need of extra space for our camping/vacation trips and this seemed to be an excellent, low cost solution. I mounted the carrier a few days before our first trip and have left it in place since that time and used it for a few adventures so far. Installation: Building the rack was not as easy as I had hoped, despite the fact all you are doing is connecting the two pieces of the rack. The first challenge was getting the rubber seal around the contact point between the two pieces. This was not simple to do, even using lubricant. This took a surprising amount of time and frustration. After that you had to get the two sections to align to insert the screws to connect the pieces. This was very difficult - it could be that my particular unit was slightly bent. I ended up using a rubber mallet to get the pieces to align and that took care of the issue. Mounting to the roof rack on the Outback itself was very straight forward and by far the easiest part. Usage: Loading, strapping and unloading was very easy. Plenty of connection point for straps and bungee cords depending upon your strategy. Quality: The structure itself is clearly very solid and robust. No concerns from a structural quality. The only quality issue is that it appears the unit was not handled well at the factory and several corners had the paint scratched off exposing the metal to possible rusting. The Rola brand sticker on the back was not aligned and very cheap, the color was removed by the sun within a few weeks. Looks: This is where this unit shines. It really looks nice compared to many of the other products. I've seen many cheap racks that are very square and unattractive. This rack is very sleek looking. It's a great looking addition. While I had some issues, overall I still think it's a solid product, especially given the price point of this particular unit. 411125

After a year - We have used the Rack quite a few times over the past summer and this summer. So far it continues to excel. I did remove the rack during the winter, removal was easy. I greased up the screw connections and kept everything together to make it simple to remount in the spring. Getting the rack re-installed was simple, about 10min. Rack also stores fairly easy in the garage. The Rola logo sticker was quickly worn and Ive since removed. The plastic wind screen is also showing sun age, I hope it continues to hold up without cracking. Overall unit is terrific especially at the price point.

Ordered the Rola Roof Cargo Basket for our 2013 Subaru XV CrossTrek. Easy ordering process, great price and value. Rack arrived on time and was exactly as described and even better quality than expected. This has a great profile and is nicely fabricated. Assembly and installation was a breeze. I single handedly assembled and installed the rack in about 20 minutes. I utilized others comments / suggestions and used clear silicone for added water proofing at the pipe joints and as a rubber sleeve lubricant. Worked great. Only negative comments I have (and expected) are 1. Adds additional wind noise but really only noticeable with the sunroof open and 2. Drag created by rack dropped fuel economy slightly. All-in-all I would recommend this rack as a great alternative to the higher priced racks (you know who you are) and also a way better rack than the slightly cheaper Curt rack (had one of these on a Jeep). 543112

After camping out of our 2013 Subaru Outback for the first time, we realized the usefulness of a roof rack to put tubs and coolers overnight. We looked around for a quality basket when we came across this Rola basket at etrailer.com and the pricepoint was right on. (I'm not that guy who spends $$$+ for anything because it's a yuppy brand. I like quality products but shop around for competitive prices before I buy anything.) The package arrived exactly when quoted, undamaged. I opened the box right away and found the basket VERY easy to assemble. The rack comes in two main pieces. All you have to do is align and slide the two main pieces together, and drill the screws in. It's easy enough for one person to assemble with only a screwdriver or cordless drill with Phillips head bit. The Rola rack feels very sturdy and is a well-made product. Once I screwed on the wind deflector, I could tell it was a sharp design and was happy with the sporty looks. I could also tell the mounting brackets were easy to figure out and seemed they would be quite effective at bracing the rack to the top of our new Subie. I was able to lift the basket and lay it upon the factory crossbars without help, though I wouldn't recommend it unless you're fairly strong and/or rather tall. (I'm neither, but was determined to get it done to surprise my wife.) If I remember correctly, it weights a bit over 40-lbs. Aligning the rack on the vehicle and determining its position is a personal preference and is as easy as sliding and nudging it until you're good with it. The mounting brackets then mount around your factory crossbar in four places, and attach to two of the cross-tubes as shown in the manufacturer's photos. Very easy to attach and tighten, even BY HAND. Lots of PROS to the Rola basket, and etrailer.com too! Product Availability. Price. Ease of Assembly. Quick Delivery. Our only CON to the rack is the added wind noise, but we expected that. Great looks! Great design! Easy Assembly. Very happy Subie owners! 60969

The Honda factory rack is pretty useless, and adding this Rola rack gives me the ability to securely carry a lot more stuff. It fit together nicely, and wasn't hard to assemble. The rack is solid and we'll made, but the finish scratches easily. The factory Honda CRV crossbars work okay for mounting the rack. I'm very happy with the quality I got at this price. I used plumbers putty to make double sure no water could get into the couplings. 551509

  • Replacement Mounting Brackets for Rola Roof Cargo Basket 59504
The Rola Replacement Roof Mount Bracket Assembly # 59506, which is the replacement mounting hardware for the Rola Roof Cargo Basket # 59504, does come with both brackets and u-bolts that fit those brackets. It sounds like you may be looking for other u-bolts that are 6 inches long, but there are none because rooftop cargo baskets are made for roof racks, and those bars are, at most, up to 4 inches, but even that width is rare.

  • Will Yakima King Cobra Bike Racks Fit a Rola Roof Mount Cargo Basket
The Yakima King Cobra bike racks fit on bars that are 1-1/8 inches in diameter. The smaller bars on the Rola cargo basket, # 59504, are 3/4 inches in diameter, then there is a 1 inch diameter bar, and a 1-1/2 inch diameter bar. The bars that are larger will not accept the mounting hardware. On the smaller bars the hardware will be too loose. I would go with the LoadWarrior, # Y07070, but the LoadWarrior instructions, linked, indicate that the crossbar spread will need to be 24 to 29...

  • Will U-Bolt Threads of Mounting Bracket of Rola Cargo Basket 59504 Stick Through Mounting Knob
When the Rola Roof Mounted Cargo Basket # 59504 is clamped to a roof rack crossbar the u-bolt threads would not extend past the knob of the mounting bracket so you would not have to worry about the bolt damaging a roof bag. In the pictures it appears as if the bolt comes out of the top of the U-bolt but if the bracket was attached to a crossbar the threads wouldn't go all the way through the knob.

  • Does Rola Roof Cargo Basket Need Roof Rack to Fit 2019 Jeep Cherokee?
You will need a roof rack with crossbars in order to mount the Rola Roof Cargo Basket # 59504 on your 2019 Jeep Cherokee. I would be happy to recommend the correct roof rack system for your Jeep if you can let me know if if it has raised side rails that run front to back, flush mounted rails that run front to back, or a naked roof (no rails at all).

  • Rola Roof Cargo Basket for a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder with OEM/Factory Roof Rack Cross Bars
To fit the Rola Roof Rack, part # 59504 to your 2017 Nissan Pathfinder, you'll need to measure your crossbar dimensions and spread to ensure a fit. You'll want to measure the width and height of your crossbars to ensure that the included clamps will attach to your bars. The Rola Roof Rack fits crossbars up to 1-1/4 inches tall by 3-1/4 inches wide, which should cover most factory roof racks and bars. The other measurement that you'll want to look for is the spread of the bars, which...

  • Fairing Recommendation for Use with Rola Cargo Basket to Help Reduce Wind Noise
We have fairings that can attach from the crossbars of your roof rack down to the roof of your 2013 Subaru Outback Wagon but nothing that attaches directly to the Rola # 59504. The Yakima fairings can attach to all crossbar shapes due to their universal mounting design. The best way to pick one out is to measure between the feet of the crossbars or the side rails that run front to back and go with the fairing that fits the closest to that. Like the part # Y05017 is 40 inches long and...

  • Is Rola Roof Mounted Cargo Basket Compatible With Yakima Round Cross Bars
The Rola Roof Mounted Cargo Basket, part # 59504, will fit Yakima round cross bars. You will need to make sure to move your crossbars to have proper spacing for the roof rack to mount as specified in the instructions. Rola specifies that the cross bars be spaced in either of the 4 following spacings: 26-1/4, 30, 33-3/4, or 37-1/2 inches center to center. I have linked a video overview of part # 59504 and instructions below.

  • Crossbar Application To Rola Roof Mounted Cargo Basket # 59504
Yes. You can attach crossbars to the Rola Roof Mounted Cargo Basket - Steel - 52" Long x 40-1/2" Wide x 6" Deep - 130 lbs, # 59504. I reached out to my contact at Rola and they don't have any crossbar system designed to fit on top of that basket. They did say that technically you could add crossbars to the basket, but you will most likely be limited by weight to the vehicle roof specifications and have to subtract the weight of your roof rack, the cargo basket, the cargo and the new...

  • Interior Dimensions of ROLA 59504 Roof Cargo Basket
The inside dimensions of the # 59504 are 48" long x 37-1/2" wide x 4" deep. You'd be able to fit the baskets in this basket pretty easily.

  • Locking the Rola Cargo Basket to a Roof Rack
The thread pitch information for the U-bolts used on the Rola carrier # 59504 is not available but there is an easier solution. You could just use a strap lock like # LS901 or even Rightline lock # RL100640 to secure the carrier to the vehicle crossbars.

  • How to Determine if Rola Roof Basket Will Fit 2015 Subaru Outback with Factory Roof Rack
Since the Rola roof cargo basket # 59504 doesn't have a specific vehicle fit list you will need to do a little measuring on your 2015 Subaru Outback to determine if it will fit the factory crossbars. First measure the center to center distance from one crossbar to the other. Then measure the width of a crossbar. The Rola basket will fit crossbar spreads of 26-1/4", 30", 33-3/4", or 37-1/2" on bars that are up to 1-1/4" tall x 3-1/4" wide. If the crossbars on your Outback meet these specifications...

  • Using Sealant with Rubber Gasket on Rola Roof Basket # 59504
I am happy to pick nits with you! Basically what the Rola basket # 59504 instructions want you to do is apply the sealant, such as # LT37467, to the insides of the rubber gaskets. Then you would slide the gaskets onto the basket tubes (don't roll them yet). Once in place roll up the gaskets so that the insides of the gaskets roll to the outside until you can see the mounting holes. Then you would put the two halves together and tighten everything down. Don't worry about using too much sealant...

  • Roof Cargo Basket and 2 Kayak Carrier to Fit 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon
For a roof mounted kayak carrier great for carrying 1 or 2 kayaks we have the Thule Hull-a-port part # TH848 which is a J-style kayak that can be locked vertical to allow two to fit as well. Check out the attached review video for more info. When carrying the second kayak you'd need a second set of straps. So for that you'd want to use the Thule kit part # TH521 and the part # Y04031 and you'd be set. To fit a basket with the two kayaks you'd most likely need a skinnier basket like the...

  • Can 2014 Subaru Outback Sunroof be Opened to Vent Position with Rola Cargo Basket Installed
What you can do is put your sunroof in the vent position and then look to see if it comes up further than the bottoms of the crossbars on the 2014 Subaru Outback roof rack. If it does not then you will likely be able to put the sunroof in the vent position. Generally speaking we recommend not opening the sunroof at all when something is loaded on the roof. The Rightline cargo bag, # RL100S20, would be a good fit for the Rola basket # 59504. It would fill up most of the free space...

  • Rola Roof Basket Compatibility With Thule AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack
The recommended crossbar spread of the Thule Aeroblade Edge # TH7603-TH7603 you referenced is between 24 and 36 inches on your flush mounted rails. This will give you two compatible options with the Rola Roof Basket # 59504 at either 26-1/4 inches spread on center or 30 inches spread on center. This basket will take up 38 lbs of your 165 lb capacity and it will be a great fit.

  • Can Any Cargo Baskets be Directly Mounted to Factory Side Rails of 2012 Nissan Pathfinder
