It's been a year with my Rola and I'm still super happy with it, the cost was what I could afford at the time and it has not disappointed so far. Finish is still strong, super minor spots where I scratched the finish has rust, the front deflector is still perfect, only issue was with the cheap Rola sticker they put on the front of the deflector. It basically disintegrated after a few months. Having this extra space is very helpful if you have a waterproof bag for additional items. This was a great purchase and it fits like a glove on my 2017 Subaru Outback!

OK so I got this and had read some reviews on rusting so here's my fix. Before you assemble it spray the inside of the tubes with spray paint. Color doesn't matter unless you let it run out somewhere. Give it a good week to dry out. If it's warm where you are then two days. When you assemble the halves run a ring of silicone sealer around the inside of the tubes before sliding them together. When you install the screws put some in each hole too. Seals the whole shebang up. Now about those rubber sleeves that go over the center seam and cover the screws. Lube the inside good, and the outside of the tubes before you slide them on, then fold them back over themselves before sliding those tube sections above together. If they don't have enough lube you will invent new words your children may not have heard. The instructions are a bit vague, but it's not rocket science. Now I had no problem installing it on the roof bars I have, but getting it centered was time consuming. (Pro Tip!= Once mounted where you want it use some colored electrical tape and wrap it around your cross tubes up against the roof basket mounts. This way if you take it off you can get it right back where you had it. No don't thank me, glad to help.) Now the rack is a bit noisy on my 2021 Subie Crosstrek, but a little fiddling will bring her around. You can wrap the cross tubes and the rack bottom tube with paracord and it will cut a lot out, Plus you'll always have some paracord wherever you go. The rack mounted easily but there is no lock so I used a pistol safety lock around the cross bars which do lock to the vehicle, and around the bottom bars of the rack. Tied it up out of the way with a few zip ties, and wrapped it good in some of that colored electrical tape we discussed earlier. It really is a heavy duty rack and I have no worries it can handle limbs and such off road. etrailer is my go to supplier from now on. Need info?, they got it, Need tech help? right there waiting. A week after I bought this rack they had a price drop. I emailed them about it and presto, refund secured. Can't say enough good about these folks. If you don't have time to do this rack up like I said, maybe you should shop on, but if you take the time to do it right this is a really good, and I would say definitely off road rated rack basket. Whatever you buy, Just get the hack out there with it. You could use a little fresh air.

59504 Product was received quickly and in great shape. I liked the fact it was double boxed and the product was wrapped with bubble wrap. No scratches. Easy assembly. Looks great on a 4runner. I actually added the Rola 59505 18 1/2 inch extension to complete the package. I attached it to my 4runner rails using my own brackets to give it a lower profile look, but works great with the crossbars as well. So far only a few hundred miles with it on, but did great for my camping trip and very sturdy.

Comments
Product still in great shape. No rust and No fading... I will definitely order replacement if and when needed. One note: Be prepared for the back Rola Label to wrinkle and peel off over time.

Delivery was fast and complete. This rack should work well for its intended use which is to carry an extra spare tire, chains, and like items on backcountry trips. Assembly was easy except for the rubber sleeves which were very difficult to get in place. There was one scratch or flaw in the finish less than 1/4 inch in diameter. It won’t affect my use of the rack. Because I want to be able to put the rack on quickly, I marked the position of the attachment brackets on both the cross bars and U-brackets and then taped the foot and U-bracket together. I wrapped a couple of layers tape on the crossbars of the rack to keep the attachment unit in place. Photos are the scratch, the miserable rubber sleeves, taping the U-bracket and foot together and taping the crossbar to keep the U-bracket and foot in place.

Comments
The rack works well for me. It is used for pack country trips where it holds a second spare tire and whatever else that does not fit into the Jeep Cherokee. It goes on and off with no problems.

Product overall is great for the price compared to others I've looked at. The paint is a little thin so be prepared for scratches pretty easy. Recommend a helping hand to put it together and use water based lube to put the rubber sleeves on (that cover the hardware to attach the peices) also I recommend removing the Rola stickers.. They don't last long in the elements and look trashy after a few rainy days. Looks great on my 08 sti and I have recived many compliments about the basket. I was able to mount my rakima bike rack on top of the basket as well which is perfect!

Comments
Well, I bought the rack in 2017 and the rack is holding up well! The stickers are a sad sight but everything else is great! Paint is a little thin but not too bad.

Great product! After researching and reviewing several other brands I settled on the Rola. The design, with higher sides, allows me to securely strap down lumber when I need to. I'll purchase black foam pipe wrap to keep the crossbars from scratching. It took me about an hour to assemble and install by myself. Very solid and only a little highway noise when driving with an empty rack. Very pleased.

After one year on the car and lots of use, the Rola Rack is solid as a rock and still looks new.

I purchased the Rola Roof Mounted Cargo Basket for my 2017 Outback Subaru several weeks back. We were in need of extra space for our camping/vacation trips and this seemed to be an excellent, low cost solution. I mounted the carrier a few days before our first trip and have left it in place since that time and used it for a few adventures so far. Installation: Building the rack was not as easy as I had hoped, despite the fact all you are doing is connecting the two pieces of the rack. The first challenge was getting the rubber seal around the contact point between the two pieces. This was not simple to do, even using lubricant. This took a surprising amount of time and frustration. After that you had to get the two sections to align to insert the screws to connect the pieces. This was very difficult - it could be that my particular unit was slightly bent. I ended up using a rubber mallet to get the pieces to align and that took care of the issue. Mounting to the roof rack on the Outback itself was very straight forward and by far the easiest part. Usage: Loading, strapping and unloading was very easy. Plenty of connection point for straps and bungee cords depending upon your strategy. Quality: The structure itself is clearly very solid and robust. No concerns from a structural quality. The only quality issue is that it appears the unit was not handled well at the factory and several corners had the paint scratched off exposing the metal to possible rusting. The Rola brand sticker on the back was not aligned and very cheap, the color was removed by the sun within a few weeks. Looks: This is where this unit shines. It really looks nice compared to many of the other products. I've seen many cheap racks that are very square and unattractive. This rack is very sleek looking. It's a great looking addition. While I had some issues, overall I still think it's a solid product, especially given the price point of this particular unit.

Comments
After a year - We have used the Rack quite a few times over the past summer and this summer. So far it continues to excel. I did remove the rack during the winter, removal was easy. I greased up the screw connections and kept everything together to make it simple to remount in the spring. Getting the rack re-installed was simple, about 10min. Rack also stores fairly easy in the garage. The Rola logo sticker was quickly worn and Ive since removed. The plastic wind screen is also showing sun age, I hope it continues to hold up without cracking. Overall unit is terrific especially at the price point.

So far so good. Had the rack loaded down with a cargo box on a 300 mile round trip to Lk Ontario. No hiccups with the assembly or installation. The only hurdle was the weatherproof rubber sleeves at the joints. I'm a plumber by trade, so with some hand strength and a little grease it worked out well. The air spoiler provided worked great cutting down the air noise.

Looks sharp on the 2014 Subaru Outback!!! I have been looking at the various cargo baskets for weeks and finally decided on the Rola Cargo Basket. I couldn't be happier. The basket fits perfectly on the new Outback. It doesn't look to small like the Yakima Loadwarrior (a.k.a the OEM cargo basket) or too large like the Yakima Megawarrior. It also isn't cheaply made like some of the other cargo baskets. Assembly was a breeze and I highly recommend purchasing/using a all weather silicone to prevent rust. Etrailer is a great company and upgraded my shipping for free! Delivery took about 3-4 business days and their customer service staff kept me updated along the way.

Comments
It was my pleasure. I dont usually write reviews but in this case, etrailer is an excellent company and it was the least I could do. The Rola basket has worked really well and have used it several times on family vacations. Im actually in the market to by a new, bigger cargo basket Yakima Load Warrior wextension and I was wondering if etrailer offers any discounts for returning customers? I would be more than happy to write another review with pictures of this helps!

Searching the site, finding the right cargo rack and placing the order was one of the easiest experiences I've had online in a long time. Product info was accurate and informative with pictures. Cargo rack arrived on time, with all parts needed. It took about half an hour for my daughter and I to assemble and mount on the car!!! Solid construction, high quality finish and hefty mounting brackets...nothing flimsy about this rack. Great, low profile look that adds a very cool look to the car. Whats going to be its first test??? You guessed it. Hauling a dorm room worth of stuff off to college!!!!!

The Rola roof rack fits nicely on my Lexus 400h. I travel with small outboard motor and a dirt bike so it will be used to keep my jerry cans (mixed and unmixed fuel) on the roof of the car. Eight self tapping screws are needed to assemble the unit...four are used to attach the two halves of the rack, and four are used to attach the wind deflector to the leading edge of the rack. Unfortunately, the bag of hardware that came with my rack only had six screws

Comments
Last year just after buying the rack I put it to good use on a long 16,000 trip, Ontario, Yukon, BC, Utah, Ontario. Only disappointment was getting my jerry cans stolen, but they didnt take the rack! Ive just put the rack on the SUV again, getting ready for another trip to the Pacific coast.

The Rola rack was the right combo of price and quality for us. Purchased it to use on family road trips and it looks great. Have not loaded yet, will report back if there are any downsides. etrailer was great, super fast shipping (arrived in 3 days). Assembly and installation was simple. Made sure to square it on the roof so there is no whistle.

Service and product delivered by Etrailer was Excellent. I ordered online and was contacted by phone and email regarding my order status. They were courteous and professional throughout the process. I did pay extra for expedited shipping and was not disappointed. My Rola vortex cargo basket arrived in 3 days. I immediately started assembly. I was very impressed with the quality, the powder coated look, and the baskets firm and solid structure. It was completely assembled in less than 30 minutes. I read in some other product reviews that some of the screw holes didn't match up...I did not have this problem. I used silicone at each screw point and around the 4 connection points where the 2 sides of the basket fit together. Rubber sleeves were also provided to minimize water intrusion into the bars themselves. Minimizing the potential for rust down the road. Fully assembled Rola's 48"x37.5"x4"(interior dimensions) basket weighs about 35lbs. It is easily installed by one, however I had help after placing it in position on my roof with the bracket install, not necessary but simplified positioning. From box to roof took less than hour to complete. After stepping back and enjoying how much I liked the look of this edition to my vehicle. I took it for a test drive. With windows and sunroof open, the noise level remained relatively the same, even at highway speeds, I barely noticed. I plan on ordering a Rola cargo bag from Etrailer in the spring, this will most definitely have noise issues, but that'll be for another review. Thank you again Etrailer, the experience was Excellent and you have earned my repeat business!

After camping out of our 2013 Subaru Outback for the first time, we realized the usefulness of a roof rack to put tubs and coolers overnight. We looked around for a quality basket when we came across this Rola basket at etrailer.com and the pricepoint was right on. (I'm not that guy who spends $$$+ for anything because it's a yuppy brand. I like quality products but shop around for competitive prices before I buy anything.) The package arrived exactly when quoted, undamaged. I opened the box right away and found the basket VERY easy to assemble. The rack comes in two main pieces. All you have to do is align and slide the two main pieces together, and drill the screws in. It's easy enough for one person to assemble with only a screwdriver or cordless drill with Phillips head bit. The Rola rack feels very sturdy and is a well-made product. Once I screwed on the wind deflector, I could tell it was a sharp design and was happy with the sporty looks. I could also tell the mounting brackets were easy to figure out and seemed they would be quite effective at bracing the rack to the top of our new Subie. I was able to lift the basket and lay it upon the factory crossbars without help, though I wouldn't recommend it unless you're fairly strong and/or rather tall. (I'm neither, but was determined to get it done to surprise my wife.) If I remember correctly, it weights a bit over 40-lbs. Aligning the rack on the vehicle and determining its position is a personal preference and is as easy as sliding and nudging it until you're good with it. The mounting brackets then mount around your factory crossbar in four places, and attach to two of the cross-tubes as shown in the manufacturer's photos. Very easy to attach and tighten, even BY HAND. Lots of PROS to the Rola basket, and etrailer.com too! Product Availability. Price. Ease of Assembly. Quick Delivery. Our only CON to the rack is the added wind noise, but we expected that. Great looks! Great design! Easy Assembly. Very happy Subie owners!

I have had a Rola Rack 59504 with extension 59505 since 2006. I first had it on my 2006 Hummer H3 and it is now on my 2008 Hunner Edition Alpha H3. It made an over 4000 mile 9 state expedition loaded with a spare tire and camping gear. I traveled offroad on the Mojave Desert Road, trails around Death Valley and offroad trails in Moab, Utah. I really like this rack that I can easily remove without help and it only weighs 50 lbs so the rack itself does not use up weight allowed. I just ordered two 59506 mounting kits so I can add a third cross bar just for insurance offroading. Ashlea C was very helpful with my order.

I have installed my ROLA roof rack and Im happy with the look but I have been in the market for a rear spare tire cooler rack which is featured in these pictures could you provide information as to who markets this product ??? Thanx BillyB

We actually carry something very similar, the Surco Spare Tire Cargo Basket. Instead of sitting on top of the spare and securing around it, this one actually secures to the studs that are used to secure the spare. It works in much the same way as a spare tire mounted bike rack. Be sure to check out the review video too.

I’ve had my Rola roof rack for a little over a year now and it’s great! I, personally, think it looks better than the Yakima Warrior load and it’s a better deal for great quality. I purchased the extension as well and it fits great on my 07 4Runner. I’ve attached a high lift jack and shovel mount, as well as a snowboard rack for the winter. It’s been everywhere and back and is truly no comparison to the Yakima warrior load.

The unit is solid and a nice addition. Road noise was a bit of an issue but it calmed down once I realigned the rack with the car. It was slightly off being parallel with the car. The only negative is rust has started at a couple of the welded joints even though it is regularly cleaned and a coat of wax applied. I may need to repaint it or take it in to have it powder coated. I get a lot of compliments on the rack and in my opinion, it looks beefier and better than the pricier competition. I would not hesitate to purchase another if needed for another project vehicle.

I spent a little while looking for the right roof rack to fit my style.. And this is it! A perfect topper to give my Subaru a little more edge. Do be aware that it is a little noisy with my sunroof down but personally, it's worth it for the sporty aesthetic and functionality.

Fantastic rack, service and amazingly quick delivery! Well packed - everything in new condition. As mentioned in another review, just don't over torque the screws. Very sturdy, easy to assemble. Tip: warm up the rubber sealant boots for the joints if chilly out. This rack just feels and is rugged. Thanks to George in sales - he really made sure I was satisfied with my purchase and offered assistance if needed! An equipment rack is something I've needed several years - this vehicle is used for storm chasing (I did attach some of my equip. directly to the rack). Should be able to bounce 3" hail off of it. :+} Cheers!

This rack was perfect for what I needed. My daughter plays soccer so I'm constantly on road trips. I've got a 2019 4Runner and when I put up the third row seats, there's very minimal storage space. This rack took about 20 minutes to put together and about 15 minutes to put on my factory crossrails. They are the aero bars and the rack was very easy to put on. I didn't notice any more noise and it looks great. It carried three suitcases and three duffle bags without any issues. I also purchased an elastic cargo net. They work perfectly together. I was very happy with my purchase - it was purchased on Monday and it arrived on Friday exactly as promised. I recommend it anyone looking to add more storage space to their vehicle.

We have a 2015 Subaru Outback. It has side rails and cross bars but nothing to keep our roof top cargo bag from sitting directly on the roof. So we were looking for a basket for mounting to the rails and holding the cargo off of the roof, saw good reviews on this one and felt it was a good price. Since we had a limited amount of time left before needing it, I called into etrailer and spoke with Vince. He was very easy to converse with, answered my questions, took my order over the phone so that the basket could be sent out as soon as possible and even told me how I could get a price match applied to my purchase. I received the basket yesterday, assembled it and mounted to my Subaru this morning. It is a very sturdy piece of equipment, well made, fit well, looks good and will certainly hold all of the items we will need to haul. The basket comes in 2 halves which you put together using rubber gaskets to cover the connecting screws and joints. There is the deflector that is mounted to the front using 4 screws and then the mounting brackets that are used to mount it to the roof crossbars. Our bars were 30" apart center to center and everything fit perfectly and looks great. We will be putting it to use this weekend on our beach trip.

This thing has been in the South Florida sun and rain for a year now. Driven daily. Not Garage Kept !! It's great. No fading . No rust showing. Need to take off the plastic air damn and plastic sand and shine it. Because of bug pits that is normal wear. It has held up great. Carry my kayak on it. Camping equipment. Wood from Depot.

The Rola Replacement Roof Mount Bracket Assembly # 59506, which is the replacement mounting hardware for the Rola Roof Cargo Basket # 59504, does come with both brackets and u-bolts that fit those brackets. It sounds like you may be looking for other u-bolts that are 6 inches long, but there are none because rooftop cargo baskets are made for roof racks, and those bars are, at most, up to 4 inches, but even that width is rare.

  • How To Mount Rola Cargo Basket To 2019 Toyota 4 Runner Off Road Roof
The Rola Roof Cargo Basket part # 59504 mounts to cross bars of a roof rack. If you have a roof rack on the 2019 Toyota 4 Runner with cross bars that are no larger than 1-1/4" tall x 3-1/4" wide with a cross bar spread of 26-1/4", 30", 33-3/4", or 37-1/2" then you won't have an issue mounting the basket on the 2019 Toyota. However, I do not recommend using the basket on the roof with the sunroof open because of wind noise and possible damage to the roof depending on how the sunroof opens....

  • Recommended Roof Basket, Bike Carrier and Snowboard Carrier for 2020 Toyota RAV4
I have a solution for you, but the Rola Roof Basket # 59504 isn't going to be the best option. Additionally, most manufacturers do not recommend attaching anything to the cargo basket-and it's really not possible because of the small size of the bars that are used on the bottoms of the baskets. With that said, I recommend starting with the Rhino Rack # RRRMCB03, which has fork mounted bike carriers integrated into the cargo basket. This is a more economical solution than adding two...

  • Does the Weight of Rola Cargo Basket Count Towards the Roof/Roof Rack Capacity
It would except that Rola basket # 59504 doesn't weigh 130 pounds. It has a weight capacity of 130 pounds. The basket weighs 58 pounds. So 165 minus 58 is 107 pounds which is just 23 short of the basket's capacity. Not too shabby.

  • How to Lock the Rola Cargo Basket # 59504 to Crossbars
One solution would be to use a cable lock like part # 8291DPS to lock the Rola Cargo Basket part # 59504 to the crossbars of your vehicle. This is a 3 foot lock cable lock that has a padded cover to prevent damage to your vehicle basket. You would need to thread the cable through the basket rails around the crossbars to secure it. I attached a review video for you to check out.

  • Will Rola Roof Basket Fit a 2017 Kia Sorento with Sunroof and Factory Roof Rack
From what I could find the OEM crossbar spread on the 2017 Kia Sorento is 31 to 33 inches. The Rola basket # 59504 will fit a crossbar spread of 30 inches or 33-3/4 inches. These means that as long as your crossbars are no wider than 2-7/8 inches you will be able to use the Rola basket. If your bars are more than 2-7/8 inches wide you could use the MaxxTow carrier # MT70115 which will fit crossbars up to 5-7/8 inches wide at a max spread of 32 inches. I have linked videos of both baskets...

  • Roof Rack and Basket Recommendation for 2015 Chevy Malibu
For your 2015 Chevy Malibu we have just what you'd need. The best bang-for-your-buck roof rack we offer is the Rhino Rack part numbers # RRVA126B-2, # RRRLKVA and # DK338 which is a confirmed custom fit. Then for a cargo basket that would fit the rack and allow you to place your bag on top you'd want the Rola part # 59504 which would fit and work great.

  • Availability of Replacement Wind Fairing for the Rola Roof Mounted Cargo Basket # 59504
I do have a solution for you, however when I spoke with my contact at Rola they informed me that there are no replacement parts, like your wind fairing, for the Rola Roof Mounted Cargo Basket # 59504. He was able to tell me that the upper bar measures about 1" and that it is about 37" long. Since that is the case you should be able to install the Yakima WindShield Fairing # Y05016. This is 34" long and is compatible with round, square, aero, elliptical, and most factory crossbars so...

  • Rola Roof Cargo Basket for a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder with OEM/Factory Roof Rack Cross Bars
To fit the Rola Roof Rack, part # 59504 to your 2017 Nissan Pathfinder, you'll need to measure your crossbar dimensions and spread to ensure a fit. You'll want to measure the width and height of your crossbars to ensure that the included clamps will attach to your bars. The Rola Roof Rack fits crossbars up to 1-1/4 inches tall by 3-1/4 inches wide, which should cover most factory roof racks and bars. The other measurement that you'll want to look for is the spread of the bars, which...

  • Recommended Spare Tire Holder and Bike Rack For Rola Roof Basket
If you have the Rola Roof Mounted Cargo Basket # 59504, there is not a spare tire carrier that is designed to fit. There are a couple of possible options with a little ingenuity like the Spare Tire Carrier for Rhino-Rack Alloy Tray Roof Cargo Carrier # RSWH or the Spare Tire Carrier for Yakima Roof Rack Cargo Baskets # Y07076. • Can Kayak Carrier Be Mounted to Rola Roof Cargo Basket # 59504
There isn't a good way to mount accessories like a kayak carrier to the Rola Roof Cargo Basket # 59504. Your best option will be to either mount the carrier alongside the basket if you have the needed crossbar space available or obtain a new basket that features crossbars that can be used for this type of application. This will give you two compatible options with the Rola Roof Basket # 59504 at either 26-1/4 inches spread on center or 30 inches spread on center. This basket will take up 38 lbs of your 165 lb capacity and it will be a great fit.

  • Using Sealant with Rubber Gasket on Rola Roof Basket # 59504
I am happy to pick nits with you! Basically what the Rola basket # 59504 instructions want you to do is apply the sealant, such as # LT37467, to the insides of the rubber gaskets. Then you would slide the gaskets onto the basket tubes (don't roll them yet). Once in place roll up the gaskets so that the insides of the gaskets roll to the outside until you can see the mounting holes. Then you would put the two halves together and tighten everything down. Don't worry about using too much sealant...

  • Fairing Recommendation for Use with Rola Cargo Basket to Help Reduce Wind Noise
We have fairings that can attach from the crossbars of your roof rack down to the roof of your 2013 Subaru Outback Wagon but nothing that attaches directly to the Rola # 59504. The Yakima fairings can attach to all crossbar shapes due to their universal mounting design. The best way to pick one out is to measure between the feet of the crossbars or the side rails that run front to back and go with the fairing that fits the closest to that. Like the part # Y05017 is 40 inches long and...

  • 2012 Toyota Venza Panoramic Roof Carrying Weight Capacity
I wouldn't recommend resting any weight whatsoever directly upon the glass panels that make up the panoramic roof of your Venza. The glass that makes up that sunroof is very expensive to replace. If you're wanting to carry cargo on the roof, your best bet would be to use a Yakima Q-Tower roof rack and a small cargo basket like the Reese # 59504. According to Yakima, when installed on the Venza, the roof rack will have a 125 lb capacity and would consist of the following parts: 58...

Instead, I recommend the Yakima LoadWarrior, part # Y07070, a cargo basket actually designed with using accessories on it in mind. • Is Rola Roof Mounted Cargo Basket Compatible With Yakima Round Cross Bars
The Rola Roof Mounted Cargo Basket, part # 59504, will fit Yakima round cross bars. Rola specifies that the cross bars be spaced in either of the 4 following spacings: 26-1/4, 30, 33-3/4, or 37-1/2 inches center to center. I have linked a video overview of part # 59504 and instructions below.

Yes. You can attach crossbars to the Rola Roof Mounted Cargo Basket - Steel - 52" Long x 40-1/2" Wide x 6" Deep - 130 lbs, # 59504. I reached out to my contact at Rola and they don't have any crossbar system designed to fit on top of that basket.
