Rightline Gear Sport on SUV

The Rightline Gear Sport 3 cargo bag holds your gear securely on the roof of your vehicle. It can be mounted on the roof rack, cargo basket, or bare roof of most large SUVs, minivans, or crossovers. This premium, aerodynamic cargo bag is perfect for any camping trip, shopping spree, or family vacation.

PVC-Lined, Waterproof Fabric

Closeup of Sport 3 cargo bag material and inner PVC layer

The roof-mounted cargo bag is made of Hydrotuff material - 600-denier, woven polyester backed with a PVC inner layer that keeps out moisture. The material is treated with WeatherGuard waterproofing and blocks 98 percent of UV rays to help prevent fading.

Waterproof fabric

The PVC material is also strengthened with a nylon grid that helps prevent rips and tears. This waterproof fabric stays flexible in hot or cold temperatures so it can be folded for compact storage.

Watertight, Double-Sealed Seams

Closeup of Sport 3 cargo bag seam and material

The bag has double-sealed seams to protect your cargo from the elements. The seams are sewn to reinforce the connections and then fused together to create a watertight seal that blocks out rain and snow.

Concealed Zipper

Diagram of zip right zipper placement on cargo bag

The ZipRight zipper is built into the underside of the flap itself rather than on the bag. This gives the zipper more shelter from rain than ordinary under-the-flap zippers, and it also has hook-and-loop fasteners to keep the flap closed.

Loaded Pack Right Sport 3 cargo bag unzipped and on top of vehicle

The zipper also runs three-quarters of the way around the roof bag, so you can easily load up the bag or access your gear.

Versatile Mounting Options

Rightline Gear Sport 3 cargo bag tied down to roof rack side rails on top of vehicle

The Sport 3 cargo bag can be attached to a roof rack, factory raised side rails, or a cargo basket with the integrated straps. Simply wrap each strap around a solid anchor point, thread the strap first through the end loop and then through the buckle, and pull it tight.

Rightline Gear Sport 3 clips

To mount the bag on a naked roof, attach the 4 included car clips to the straps and hook them over the door frame weather molding. The hooks have 5/8" openings to fit over the door ledges. Your vehicle's doors should close easily over the hooks to secure them in place.

A roof pad (RL100650 - sold separately) is available to keep the bag from sliding around and to protect the top of your vehicle from scratches.

Locking Options

Zipper in the flap of Pack Right Sport cargo bag

To lock up the bag, run a Rightline Gear locking cable (RL100640 - sold separately) through the cutouts in the zipper pulls. Then, if you want to lock the bag to your roof, run the cable around your roof rack rails.

Video Transcript for Rightline Gear Sport Rooftop Cargo Bag Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Rightline Gear Sport 3 Rooftop Cargo Bag, part number RL100S30, and this install process will also apply to the Rightline Gear Sport 2 Rooftop Cargo Bag, as well as the Sport 1 and the Sport Jr. The Rightline Gear Sport 3 Cargo Bag is ready for carrying a wide variety of accessories, anything from sporting goods to camping gear from here to the site or your luggage across country. The best of this bag is, it can work with or without roof rack systems or in cargo baskets. This is made from a waterproof PVC material, and that coupled with the flap for the zipper as well as the double-sealed seams here, that's going to help keep your gear clean and dry. The polyester material also resists cuts and tears, and also it has UV protection, so it's not going to fade. The zippers are going to be corrosion-resistant and have openings on the ends where you can insert a padlock to help secure your gear while you travel as well. We did mention the flap earlier. That also helps protect the zipper and help keep things watertight.

Also, to keep the flap in place, we do have hook-and-loop straps to secure it.It's also easy to load and unload, as it opens 3/4 of the way all the way around and loads from the rear. Also, in this particular case, it's not going to make contact with the rear hatch. You have 18 cubic feet of space to work with to load up your gear, and this measures 48" long by 40" wide by 19" tall. As far as carrying capacity is concerned, that's dependent on the vehicle you have. Just go to your vehicle's manual and figure out its specifications. Now, there have been some customer comments on this product.

One issue that was brought up was that this actually came loose while they we're driving, and when they tried to re-attach it, the plastic pieces we're broken. So, with that, just make sure you're strapping everything down nice and tight before you leave, and also you trying to make sure the seal's in place to make sure no rain or anything like that gets in while you drive as well.Another customer issue was that some of the fabric was torn, and it came loose again, and they felt that it was because it was moving from side to side. So, again, always make sure everything is tightened down properly, but also having the mat underneath helps keep that bag staying in place while you travel. When comparing this with other products, one that comes up is going to be the Thule Interstate Rooftop Cargo Bag, part number TH869. The biggest difference between these two, besides the general shape of the bags, is going to be how much space they have on the inside, with the Thule having 16 cubic feet and the Sport 3 having 18 cubic feet. The biggest advantage the Rightline Gear has is that it attaches to vehicles with or without roof rack systems, while the Thule Interstate requires a roof rack system. Now that we've gone over some of the features of the Rightline Sport 3, let's go ahead and show you how it installs.

We'll first take it out of its convenient carrying tote. We'll starting by folding it out. It looks like this is going to be the top side. You can tell, because the buckles are going to be on the top. Now, before we place it onto the roof of our vehicle, it is recommended that you just quickly wash it off with a little bit of soap and water so it's nice and clean, and you're not going to be dragging dirt back and forth across your roof. Before we actually install our bags, it's a good idea to use the Rightline Non-Skid Roof Protection Pad for the Rightline Rooftop Cargo Bags, part number RL100650.

This ensures that the bag won't move back and forth while you're driving. We'll take our non-skid pad, and we'll set it on the roof of our vehicle in the general spot where our bag's going to be. You want to make sure that the textured side is facing up. This here's the textured side, making sure it's facing up. This is the non-textured side. While this is not a necessity for the Rightline bags, it's definitely a help. Now, at this point, depending on the size of the bag that you're hauling, you can cut this pad to length to fit more properly around the bag itself. Before we set this onto our roof, we're going to unzip it completely all the way around. Now we can set our bag onto the roof. When you do this, you want to make sure the non-opening end goes towards the front, and open up the flag, and we can start loading our gear. Once we have everything installed, then we can start zipping it up on both sides, and they're going to meet up in the end here.As we zip these done, you want to make sure you connect, or at least reconnect, the hook and the fasteners all the way around to make sure that the flap stays in place. In this case, we're going to keep the zippers to the corner here so it's just a little easier to get to next time. At this point it's good if you have a padlock or something like that that can fit through the zipper holes, connect those two up, and secure them in place.Next we can install our straps. To do that, you want to make sure you use the proper buckle for each situation. If you we're to have a roof rack attached to your vehicle, you would use the front buckle. Since this one does not have a roof rack on it, we'll be using the side one here. We'll start by taking our strap and feeding it through the buckle, and then we'll go to the inside of the vehicle and install the hook. On the inside of the vehicle, we'll take our hook, and it goes on the inside panel like so. We'll do this on the other side as well. Then you can pull the strap tight, and then we simply just shut the door. Then we'll take any excess that we may have and just wrap it around just to make sure it's not flapping around while we drive, making an annoying sound and stuff like that. Just a simple knot will do. Now we have a place on our vehicle with factory raised side rails, where you don't need a hook to fasten it down. Instead, you would actually remove the hook and the strap completely. Then you have this loop on the end you'll wrap underneath, put our strap through, and then we'll strap it down that way. Get it nice and tight and then tie off the excess. When you're finished using the Rightline bag, it has this convenient tote that you can place in the rear of the vehicle so it's ready for next time. There you have it for the Rightline Gear Sport 3 Rooftop Cargo Bag, part number RL100S30.

We purchased this product for a family vacation from Michigan to Arkansas. Initially it seemed to be perfect for what we needed. The vehicle used did not have cross bars so we had to bring the straps through the car. We used the product exactly as instructed and put nothing but a 3 suitcases and 2 dufflebags into it. On our way home, we had a rainstorm while at one of our short stops. Because the straps pressed against the seals around the door, our vehicle seats, inside roof and floor were soaked. We proceeded to our overnight location. While unloading, we noticed that our items that were in the product were soaking wet, and had to find a laundromat to wash and dry our clothing. When we removed it from the rooftop, we found that due to the straps rubbing from the wind force, the product had tears in it. At this point, we had to figure out how to fit all of our items into the vehicle which made for a very uncomfortable ride for the remaining several hundred miles home. I would not recommend this product for anybody! 47878

Sorry about the trouble you had and I am glad to see we were able to get it warrantied for you. For future reference, the bag design has been updated with reinforced strap anchor points.

I agree with Sheri. I bought this bag about a year ago to take to Gulf Shores, AL from Southern Indiana, we used it on top of my moms Ford Freestyle and it worked like a charm. About 6 months later I used it on top of my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee to take the same trip and it worked ok on the way down. The straps did rub holes in the bag from the wind, and I bought some duct tape to cover the holes so our luggage would not get wet. I purchased the mat to sit on top of the vehicle also. On the trip back I loaded the same way and we had nothing but trouble from the start. We stopped a couple of times because it kept trying to lift up and I tightened the straps 3 or 4 times and I could not even push the bag up off the vehicle. Once on the road again the straps and buckles broke and my bag went flying down the emergency lane on I-65. Luckily the bag held up enough that the luggage stayed in, even though it was all damaged to some extent. At that point the bag was shredded and I had to try and pack everything in our vehicle, which was a trick in itself. Needless to say Im not a fan. If you decide to go with this bag I would buy heavier duty straps, since apparently these only last for about 1 and 12 trips.

Cargo bag is great!. Waterproof, durable with easy set up and take down (as advertised) PROVIDED TIE-DOWN STRAPS ARE HORRIBLE!!!! Drove from Houston, TX to Miami, FL. Stopped in Bonifay FL to rest for the night. During the 10 hour drive to Bonifay, I had to pull over at least 10 times to adjust and/or tighten the straps. They did not stay tight. Over time they would work themselves loose and start to slap the top of the vehicle. That night I was going to fold it up pack our luggage in the Tahoe and return the cargo bag as soon as I got back from our vacation. I was very happy with the cargo BAG so I decided to go to the local WalMart and purchase a few ratchet straps instead. Once I tied down the cargo bag with the new straps, instantly it felt more secure. I threw the provided straps in the trash. We didn't have any problems for the rest of the trip to Miami including the 18 hour drive home. Something needs to be done with the cheap plastic clips on the provided tie-down straps. They do not stay tight. Over time they work themselves loose and start to slap the top of the vehicle. I knew the load wasn't going to go anywhere so a few times I would just let it slap the top of the truck for miles because I was tired of dealing with it. I would definitely recommend this product, but If you are going to purchase this product I would suggest you use a couple ratchet straps, it will definitely make your trip a lot less stressful. 274414

Have used this Rightline Rooftop Cargo Bag once since I bought it, and was completely satisfied with the durability and size. We have a minivan with no rooftop rails and needed extra storage for our family roadtrip. It seemed to be water resistant and did not experience any water damage to our belongings inside. Dimensions are accurate and held one night of camping gear for our family of 5 (i.e. sleeping bags, pillows, cookware, hiking gear, shoes, etc.). There's no need to spend more money on the expensive brand name bags. This did the job and the soft bag (vs. a hard case) fit the odd shapes of camping items. We were concerned that the weight of the packed bag and wind resistance from driving would cause the straps to eventually give way, but not so. We drove approximately 400 miles on highways and rural roads, and the only complaint was the loud floppy noise from the bag in the wind. Otherwise, it functioned as I had hoped and am pleased with my purchase. 325323

Ordered the RL100S30 at the last minute and customer service was extremely helpful in ensuring everything from the product to the shipping was set up correctly. Package arrived the next day as promised, installed it on 2007 Ford Escape and headed out on our road trip. Here are my 3 observations since using this product: 1. Large capacity - fit a full size suitcase, regular size duffel bag, very large duffel bag, and 2 carry on suitcases with ease. 2. Rained most of the way from TN to FLA and had no issues with any water getting inside and ruining our luggage. 3. Easy setup and tear down. Took about 10 minutes the first time hooking it up and 5 minutes thereafter. 3-5 minute tear down. Would definitely recommend not only this product, but etrailer as well for their excellent customer service (Kimberly D). 146837

I highly advise not to purchase this product. We were 60 miles into our trip, and our bag flew off the roof. Thank God there was no one immediately behind us. We did try to strap it back on to the roof before we noticed the rings that the straps go through were plastic. They were all either cracked or gone. We also decided not to run the straps over the back because it had torn while sliding down the highway and the hole was tearing like paper. I do believe this would be a decent product if the rings were metal. After reading other reviews, I see that we are not the first one to lose their bag off the roof. I would definitely recommend the hitch mounted system as you will also save on fuel because of the wind resistance 257807

This luggage bag far exceeded our expectations. We have been traveling with it for about a year now (including a 3 month journey across the US and through Canada). It was more than enough to fit everything our family of 5 needed on top of our minivan, and has survived countless storms (both with rain and even hail at times), and has never once lost its waterproof quality. All items put inside stay completely dry! We plan on not only using this luggage bag for as long as we possibly can, but if for some reason it ever does need to be replaced, we will immediately get another one just like it! I would recommend this to anyone and everyone! One of the best investments I've ever made! 391296

Purchased this cargo bag on the road and the good folks at etrailer shipped to my hotel with no problems. The product is the perfect match for the Smittybilt Defender roof rack for Jeeps - it fills the dimensions and is 16-18" high providing enough room for a lot of gear. The product write-up is correct - rubberized zipper, fold over top, etc. This is a quality product perfect for the Defender roof rack. Many thanks to Donna at etrailer for her help. 395072

Like it fine . . . . fits like a glove in the Smitty-Bilt roof rack, exactly. Thanks for the folllow-up.

This soft carrier worked very well for our road trip. We did not encounter rain so I cannot comment on the weather resistance but it held up well and allowed us to pack just about everything we own. Never had an issue with straps coming loose or material flapping in the wind but did have some buzzing from the front cross strap. After a little creative wrapping of the excess strap I was able to fix the wind noise and the rest of the trip was pleasant. If you pack it carefully and attach the straps correctly I can't see a person having any issues. Just use some common sense and check it a few times when you first set off on your trip. 151929

I needed this product to carry four peoples' luggage during a roundtrip drive from Virginia to Florida over New Year. I fit very will in the back of my pickup and held more luggage than I had anticipated. The zippers were a bit stiff, especially in the bitter cold we experienced, but otherwise was great. The straps worked very easily with the tie down points in the bed of the truck but I really didn't need to use them because of the weight of the luggage. For the price and its utility, it was the best product I could imagine. It will certainly be used again in the future and it will be interesting to see how long it holds up. 112255

I love my roof top carrier. The product was perfect and fit on top of my van. It held a lot. We had another 4 hours to get to our destination and it started raining. When we arrived at our hotel we unloaded and were very relieved that our belongings were dry. :) Having the storage bag it came in is also very nice. If we every need to buy another cargo bag we definitely will buy one from etrailer.com. I had some questions and called customer service and they were excellent. Took my order over the phone and the product shipped fast. 292719

This luggage bag was awesome! Usually when we go on vacation my husband handles all the heavy lifting. I ordered this item because it was an all girls trip for my sister, nieces, daughter, and myself. We all wanted to travel in one vehicle(my 8 passenger van), so we obviously had very little room for luggage. I saw this product online and it seemed a great value for the price. Wow was I ever right on this one! Me and the girls packed it and secured it ourselves and it was awesome! I would highly recommend this product! 214611

Trailer was a great retailer, that is where the positive stops. The Right line cargo system was horrible, the instructions were vague at best. When I got home from my trip, the wind had torn the entire top of the carrier apart. I was supprised I didn't loose any cargo. There was no way that if it would of rained that anything would of been dry. Do not waste your money on this product...cause. it would truly be a waste! 77464

I was very pleased with my purchase of my Righline car top carrier. I used it this past week to haul my corn hole boards to the beach in Florida. The carrier performed well as it turned water through a couple of heavy rain storms and stayed very secure and quiet for the entire trip. The carrier is extremely sturdy as I traveled in the 80 mph range. I would recommend this product very highly 211634

Looks like good quality item. Specific to exactly what I ordered. Have not used item yet . Will have to see how the lifetime wear is. Opportunity will have to present itself to put to use. Item arrived in a timely manner and looks to be in good shape. Item will give me the ability to store baggage for a spring trip to the wilderness. Full grade upon review after use. Thank you! 463135

Worked beautifully. Had one on daughters Toyota RAV4 and one on the trunk of my Honda Accord and hauled her possessions back from Rexburg ID to Colonial Heights VA over 3 days and two flat tires. They held thru wind rain, fog and heat. No content damage. I did a few extra tie-down straps for interstate speed driving security for my own peace of mind. You have an excellent product. 391930

I was looking for a solution to travel space. In the past there were other roof top carriers that were poorly made and didn't last long, or were hard to store. This unit is very durable and has held up well in rough weather, and now one year later is continuing to provide the best solution I've found. No leaks, no tears, sturdy. Buy one - you won't regret it. 270593

worked great with out a roof rack, on a 2006 chevy Malibu. don't bother with the clips unless you have a roof rack. I wish the straps were longer, if I had packed the bag full would not have had a long enough strap to go all the way around bag and thru car. but a great option for the long haul. drove from Delray Beach to Pittsburgh Pa. 193273

I live in Oregon so I needed a water proof carrier, my family used this product to go to Sunriver for Christmas (2013) it rained the hole way there 3hrs, all are luggage and presents were dry when we got there. I think the Cargo Bag and the way its constructed is excellent. The only thing I would suggest to the user is that you mark or label the straps, so they are used in the same position. That way you only need minor adjustment for side to side and front to back. All in all easy to use great product. 368955

Cargo carrier saved the day. Delivery was fast. Car was not equipped with overhead luggage rack and this fit the bill perfectly. Vacation went on as planned and all items fit comfortably. Waterproofing was also tested and passed despite some torrential downpours along the way. Thank you. 263458

I am definitely convinced that this Rooftop Cargo Bag is waterproof. Upon initial inspection the workmanship seems exceptional. If we are not making these in the USA, we should be. I am traveling soon from Longview, Wa. to Katy, Tx. (about 2500 miles) I will let you know how it holds up 214508

The roof cargo carrier arrived in just two days! It is a wonderful purchase! It is quite large and will certainly help us in our travels. It is easy to secure to the car. It comes with a carry case for easy storage. And the best part is it is reasonable priced! 229988

The product worked well. There was a learning curve to installing it. Unfortunately I did not have the carrier stuffed full. This caused some wind damage. Once I realized this was happening I used extra straps to cinch it down better. 322290

The products I ordered and used were great. They did not leak when we traveled through rain for a long period of time. The straps secured them and held the distance without any adjustments. Thank you for a great product. 155806

Just got my luggage carrier and am very satisfied. It is made of heavy waterproof materials and large enough to pack even large suitcases. Can't wait to see how well it fits in the back of the pickup when we travel. 96144

Very disappointed to see the o-rings and hooks were plastic. Why would you put cheap plastic parts on a high quality product? Now we will have to purchase better tie down straps to use because I do not trust these. 398378

this was ok, however I could not get it to tighten down enough. I don't know if I just did not put enough stuff in the carrier or if I did not put the straps on properly. needs better/clearer instructions. 129840

It already has small holes in it which let water in. I thought the product would be more durable, especially since we only use it a couple of times a year. Disappointed. 406699

Worked perfectly, and was easy to put on. This is a huge carrier, we stuffed it for a 1,000 mile trip, and it didn't move an inch. 195249

Ask the Experts about this Rightline Gear Roof Bag
Do you have a question about this Roof Bag?

  • Cargo Bag Recommendation for a Vehicle with only Raised Siderails
  • You could attach the Thule cargo bag, # TH869 to the side rails only but it is not recommended for this bag. The reason is because during starts and stops, the bag can move forward and backwards and it can damage the roof of the vehicle. What I recommend is a bag that can be used with or without any type of roof rack. Take a look at the cargo bag, # RL100S30. This bag can be attached to the roof safely even without crossbars or rails. Make sure that the bottom of the bag and the top...

  • Is a Roof Pad Recommended for a Roof Mounted Cargo Bag on a Toyota Sequoia
  • If you are interested in a roof mounted cargo bag, I would always recommend a roof pad like the Rightline Non-Skid Roof Protection Pad, # RL100650. If the bag will be sitting on the roof, sliding will be a potential issue. You can also limit sliding by securing the bag to the rails and the crossbars, but I would still recommend using the non-skit pad. The main advantage to using a hitch mounted cargo carrier over a roof mounted cargo carrier is the weight capacity. A hitch mounted cargo...

  • Largest Roof Cargo Bag Recommendation for a Vehicle with a Naked Roof
  • The largest roof cargo bag we offer that will fit the naked roof of a vehicle is the Rightline Sport 3 XL Rooftop Cargo Bag # RL100S30. The dimensions of this bag are 48" x 40" x 19". You would need to compare that to the dimensions of your roof to determine if it will fit properly. The next smallest size is the Rightline Sport 2 Rooftop Cargo Bag # RL100S20 which measures 44" x 36" x 19".

  • Looking For Roof Cargo Bag That Does Not Require Roof Rack For 2002 Nissan Sentra
  • I recommend any of the Rightline Gear Sport rooftop bags for your 2002 Nissan Sentra. Their waterproof, including at the zipper, and very durable. Just choose whichever size you need: 12 cubic feet, # RL100S10 15 cubic feet, # RL100S20 18 cubic feet, # RL100S30

  • Roof-Mounted Cargo Basket for 2014 Chevrolet Suburban with Factory Roof Rack Crossbars
  • Thank you for your kind remarks. If you're new to etrailer you're finding out that service and support are what etrailer is all about. I am lucky to have been trained by many great associates here and I am delighted to help out. Rooftop cargo solutions come in several categories, fabric bags, enclosed plastic cargo boxes and, of course, open metal baskets like the Yakima LoadWarrior # Y07070-74, Surco Safari # SPS5084-1101 and the Rola # 59504. I realize I don't know the exact weight...

  • Will the Curt Cargo Bag # C18221 Fit on 2003 Dodge Durango without Roof Mounted Cargo Basket
  • I do have a solution for you, however the Curt Cargo Bag # C18221 is designed for use with a roof mounted cargo basket for secure and safe carrying. If you like this Cargo Bag, you can use it along with the Curt Roof Mounted Cargo Basket, part # C18115-117 which would be attached to your vehicle's roof rack. For a large roof bag that does not require a basket, I recommend the Rightline Sport 3XL Rooftop Cargo Bag, part # RL100S30. This bag offers 18 cu ft of space and its versatile...

  • Recommended Lock for Securing Rightline Cargo Bags to the Roof of My Vehicle
  • If you meant to ask about how to securely lock the Rightline Cargo Bag # RL100S30 you were looking at to your vehicles roof, I have a solution for you. I recommend the Rightline cable lock # RL100640 for their cargo bags that has a retractable steel cable that is 35 inches long. This steel cable secures your bag's zipper, locks the bag to your roof rack, or does both. You can even pull out the exact amount of cable needed to help prevent theft. In addition to having a steel cable...

  • Recommended Roof Rack and Cargo Basket for 2017 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk
  • Let's start with the roof rack for your 2017 Jeep Cherokee. Both the Rhino-Rack Vortex StealthBar and Aero Crossbar Systems are excellent choices and are confirmed to fit your Jeep as long as its roof has the factory installed rails that run front to back. I do recommend going with the StealthBar Roof Rack # JA7972. This is going to provide an extremely sleek system with an OEM appearance due to the integrated feet that will attach directly to the factory side rails. Once installed,...

  • Methods to Deter Theft of Rightline Sport 3 XL Waterproof Carrier # RL100S30
  • Any fabric-type rooftop cargo bag, including the Rightline Sport 3 XL Waterproof Carrier # RL100S30 that you referenced, will use integrated straps to secure to your vehicle's roof rack or side rails. While it is possible to add a cable-style lock such as # CAB-10 from DeadBolt, this would only slow down any would-be thief. Since the bag's straps can be cut the lock would only provide for a modest complication for a person intent on stealing your bag and property. We do offer lockable...

  • Can I Attach a Bike Rack to The Back of A Cargo Carrier on My 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hitch?
  • Great question. The reason you cannot attach a bike rack to the shank of a separate cargo basket is that they are not designed to work together. Adding another accessory to your cargo carrier reduces the tongue weight (TW) capacity of your hitch by half. The added length of the bike rack on the end of the carrier will allow greater leverage to be applied to the hitch tube, which causes the loss of capacity. Combination racks like the Hollywood Racks SE2 Bike Rack with Cargo Carrier,...

  • How Many Suitcases Will Fit in the Rightline Sport 3 Roof Cargo Bag on a 2013 Honda Pilot
  • The Rightline Sport 3 # RL100S30 that you referenced measures 48L x 40W x 19T inches which I have noted in the attached picture. The only way to accurately figure out how many suitcases it will hold would be to know the sizes of the suitcases. I can estimate it could hold maybe 4 suitcases if you consider airline carry on suitcases as medium, however my idea of a medium suitcase is about double that size in which case it should hold 2 or 3. This carrier will hold up to 18 cubic feet of...

  • Size Limit for Rooftop Cargo Carriers for 2013 Subaru Impreza Hatch Back Sport
  • Vehicle manufacturers rate their vehicles for their capacity to support rooftop cargo carriers based primarily on the WEIGHT of the carrier and its contents more so than on the size of the carrier. It is generally a good idea to use a cargo carrier that has dimensions not too different from the dimensions of the vehicle roof; we do not recommend using a cargo basket or box that would extend out from either the sides or back of the vehicle roof, although in some instances it may be permissible...

  • What is the Weight Capacity of the Righline PackRight Cargo Bag and Is a Pad Required
  • I would recommend using the non-skid protection pad, # RL100650, with a roof mounted cargo bag if it will be sitting directly on the roof of your 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The straps of the cargo bag will be secured to your roof rack side rails, but when you brake and accelerate, the bag will want to slide forward or backward. The slide may be minimal, but if there is any dirt or debris under the bag when it wants to slide, then you may find scratches on your roof after a trip. The Righline...
