Highland Ratchet Straps - 11705

Features:

  • Super-durable tie-down strap lets you secure cargo in your truck bed or trailer
  • Power Web Plus technology helps to prevent strap failure
    • Flexible-edge design absorbs side impacts
    • High-strength weave and triple-layer webbing ensure durability
    • Class R surface coating improves abrasion resistance
  • Ratchet mechanism makes it easy to tighten down strap and maintains tension on strap
  • S-hooks attach to anchor points

Specs:

  • Strap dimensions: 1" wide x 14' long
  • Safe working load limit (WLL): 500 lbs
  • Maximum load (break strength): 1,500 lbs
  • Quantity: 1 ratchet strap
  • Limited 1-year warranty

Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

Power Web Plus Tie-Down Strap

Side impacts and abrasion are the main reasons that tie-downs fail. This tie-down strap is made with Power Web Plus technology, which combines several features to help ensure that the strap will stand up to heavy-duty use. The flexible-edge design absorbs side impacts. And the high-strength weave and triple-layer webbing create a supremely durable strap. Lastly, the strap has a Class R surface coating that helps it stand up to abrasion. Independent testing found the Power Web Plus strap to be 4 times more cut and tear resistant and over 20 percent more abrasion resistant than standard webbing.

Video Transcript for Highland Ratchet Tie Down Review

Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Highland 14 foot ratchet strap tie down rated at 1,500 pounds, part number 11705. This Highland ratchet strap is a great utility when loading up cargo carriers, maybe securing ATVs or any other large cargo, maybe in the back of your pick up truck. You can see that here we have a whole bunch of our camping equipment and luggage loaded up in a cargo carrier. The Highland ratchet strap don't provide a lot of protection when securing our gear. Basically what we'll do is we'll just use one of the rubber coated hooks here to secure to one of the attachments points. Now, you see the hooks here are really nice, strong, sturdy steel construction. They have a nice rubber paint.

For example if you are going to be using this in a bed of your pickup truck, maybe the bed doesn't have a liner or you don't want to scratch any sensitive materials. That coating is really nice feature. We'll extend the strap all the way out getting as many tangles out as possible, making sure the strap goes over all of our gear and then we'll just going to take the other end and secure it the other side of our basket. Now, the main thing about this ratchet strap is that it has this specially designed edges. Now the majority of wear and tear from the ratchet strap comes from maybe cuts or scratches on the outside edges which causes the strap to tear and rip. If you can see those specially designed black stitches on the outside of the strap, that's going to provide that ultimate protection to resist maybe those stuffs 00:01:40, cuts, or those other any other abrasions. Now we'll go back over to the ratcheting mechanism and pull it tight.

Now there is this little . there is two levers here. This lever here at the top near the black handle, you want to push that in and that's going to allow us to actually unfold the ratcheting mechanism and easily allow us to pull the strap tight without having to constantly ratchet it strap back and forth. We can pull it tight, then you can see that as we start to ratchet it down, the strap will ravel up in this section of the strap here and that's actually going to sench 00:02:33 the strap down and secure your cargo. Again this strap has multiple uses. For our demonstration here we got a whole bunch of camping gear and luggage loaded up in our cargo basket.

You can also use it maybe in a trailer to secure an ATV or UTV or maybe in your pickup truck bed if you got a motorcycle or any other large gear that you are going to be hauling around. This strap receives a class R surface coating specified by the US government for improved abrasion resistance. It has been proven to be four times more cut and tear resistant and over 20% more abrasion resistant than standard webbing. It has a 1,500 pound break strength capacity and it's for use for loads up to 500 pounds. Now that we've got our gear secured using the Highland 14 foot ratchet tight down with coated hooks, that will complete today's review of part number 11705. .

Tangling is a curse of traditional ratchet straps, almost like it is their natural state to be in one big tangled wad. The retractable ratchet straps make a huge improvement on the tangling.

Do you have a question about this Ratchet Strap?

  • Best Way to Secure 27 x 16-Inch Box for Safe Transport
  • The best way to secure a box is to use a ratcheting strap like # 11705 or # EM31350 since these straps can tighten down to the exact length you need for the dimensions of your cargo, thanks to their ratcheting mechanism. Unlike bungee cords that stretch these straps are non-elastic which means that they will hold your carton more securely than any bungee cord can. We also offer handy sets like # EM31351 (a set of 2) and # EM31352 (a set of 4) if you need more than one.
