Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at Etrailer, and today we are taking a look at the Weather Tech Rain Guards or Rain Deflectors on the 2017 Ford Explorer. Now you have different options. I currently have this all kitted together which is your front and your rear deflectors, but you can also find them individually here at etrailer as just the front or just the rear. So I like to go car camping, and rain guards like these are extremely helpful for me because then I can leave the windows cracked and have some airflow come in but I don't have to worry about the rain coming in as well. Now there's also other situations where you might want this. Maybe it's raining a lot and you wanna make sure that your windows stays clear.
Maybe you have a good amount of snow or you just want a little extra protection for your windows. So these are gonna be custom fit for your vehicle. So make sure to use our fit guide, where you put in your year, make, model, at the top of the page so you can get the correct fit for you. So these are gonna be the premium option for your vehicle but they have premium features. I've worked with a lot of rain guards and I'm always nervous about cracking or breaking them.
These are super durable and super strong. So they're three millimeters thick and they have a very nice and sleek look. So some people almost consider them a factory look. So not only do they add practicality when it comes to air circulation and you can keep your windows down, but it will also help reduce the wind noise. This is a super easy install, especially since they're so durable that you're not as worried about cracking them when installing them.
These take a little bit of time to set though and, but you do have everything you need included with this. Let's take a look at that process. So to install these, the front ones are the easiest ones to do since they do not need the adhesive. But the way you start is that you lower your windows halfway and you just make sure that your window is clean and dry. We're gonna start on the side by the mirror and we're just gonna fit that in, making sure the outside edge is resting on the window sill.
Now pulling this outward, we're then going to get our other corner up and into that window sill. Now carefully push the rest of your deflector into your window, and once it's all in, then it fits smoothly into those edges. For your rear deflectors, you do have adhesive, which I won't take off right now for demonstration purposes, but start by taking off that adhesive backing and then you're gonna fit this into your window. What I like to do is go at a little bit of an angle and then we're gonna slide this up and into the window sill. So use the tool included to push that guard up against your window sill. That way you know that adhesive seals. And to double check that you did it right, close your window. And if you find that your window doesn't want to close then you can just check that everything is seated or leave it out in the sun so it can warm up and contour a little bit more around your vehicle. I recommend leaving your windows closed for at least 12 hours for your rain guards to acclimate. And if it's colder than 60 degrees Fahrenheit, it might take a little bit longer. And that right there was a look at how the Weather Tech Rain Deflectors fit on the 2017 Ford Explorer.
