Is this right For you? Product Expert Kathleen M says:
Yes, if you:
Camp in areas with lots of gravel or sand that you don't want to track into your RV
Have a trailer or vehicle that you struggle to get in and out of and need to add a straightforward step to bridge the gap
Have an entry height (distance from the ground to the mounting point) of 14-1/2" - 17-1/2" and a mounting place that's at least 21" x 12"
No, if you:
Have a hard time with bending over and pulling out steps, and would rather have an electric step
Get annoyed when you have to supply your own hardware and want everything you need in the box
Have limited space behind where the step will mount - the brackets that the step moves on can get hung up
This 9" deep, pull-out step lets you safely enter and exit your RV. Slip-resistant step slides effortlessly into its mounting base and locks into place for travel. Bolts or welds onto your RV. Black powder coated steel is rust resistant. Lowest Prices for the best rv and camper steps from Stromberg Carlson. Will Flexco Pull-Out Steps Work for You?
Pull-out steps are typically installed on travel trailers. The Flexco pull-out steps from Stromberg Carlson are easy to install and fold up underneath the camper for simple storage. To ensure you choose the correct size for your application, there are a few measurements you will need to take.
The Lippert pull-out steps attach to the underside of the camper chassis, directly beneath the doorway. To decide which size you'll need, locate the space available underneath your camper that lines up with the door frame, and measure the width and depth. You will need a mounting space that is at least 21-1/16" wide and 6" deep.
If it turns out you have more or less space beneath your doorway, there are other step assemblies available with bracket sizes ranging from 21-1/16" wide to 28-1/4" wide. A full list of the available steps is below.
Outriggers - metal brackets that act as an extension (LC301704 - sold separately) - may be needed for installation depending on the model of your original stairs. These provide extra length if the old steps are longer or wider than the new.
Once you know where the mounting bracket will go and what size mounting bracket you need, that spot will be used as the "mounting point" to determine how many steps you will need.
How Many Steps Do You Need?
To determine how many steps you'll need, measure from the mounting point to the ground. This is called the entry height. The entry height should roughly match the height of the steps when they're fully extended, plus 3" to 9" to account for the drop from the bottom steps to the ground. This measurement will also tell you how many steps you need.
The chart below displays mounting bracket width measurements in the first column and entry height measurements in the second column. The third column shows the corresponding part numbers. Use the mounting bracket width and entry height measurements you took to determine which part number will fit your RV. Choose the bracket size that is closest to your measurements without going over.
This page's step assembly is in bold text.

Exactly what I needed for the restoration of my vintage 1972 RevCon. I looked everywhere for the proper dimension for the replacement step. These do the job exactly as expected. Minus one star because surface rust has appeared in the joints after 2 years (in California. so not extreme weather).918769
Good construction. Using it for side entry on a construction. Permanently in the pulled out position. The frame design of the trailer made this necessary but the step has adequate ground clearance to permit this. With regard to etrailer service, second to none.1051632

Tried to use this on an enclosed trailer I converted to a toy hauler. Due to trailer frame support placements, the step had to be slightly off center from door, but tried it anyway. Only had it on a few weeks before removing it and paint had already begun to wear off and flake off in chunks and some light rust already started. I can’t recommend this item since it’d clearly be a rusted mess within a year or two.
I now use an aluminum step platform with adjustable legs.615923

The step is attached . Just needing to tighten the bolts after reconstructing the entrance.855543
Still working good, I wish I would’ve bought the 4 step unit instead of the 3 step.

I love the flexco manual pullout step! It is exactly what I needed for my service truck. I have a large service truck that I work out of everyday and did not include any steps to climb into the bed. I recommend this step assembly for RV and obviously other use. Great product. Thank you!467542

Steps were installed by me-They were put on my Ford F-150 to aid my wife in getting in and out of the truck. (We are both now in our early 80's)
The steps work just fine. The only criticism I have about them is that they rattle a lot. I have added rubber strips in several places, but they keep falling off and the steps continue to rattle. Oh well, can't have everything, I guess.283139

Good product. Works as a replacement for an old step that rotted. Easy to install. Not quite as robust as I had hoped but with some caution it should last.864742
The stored depth of this step from the center of the front mounting hole to the back of the slide bracket measures 11 inches. The height of the step will be 7 inches when it is stored. I have attached diagrams showing these measurements.
To make sure this step will work for you, you will want to make sure that you have at least 11 inches behind the mounting location of the front bolt hole to install this step. As long as you have the 11 inches behind the front bolt hole, this step should... view full answer...
If the brackets on your camper match up to the side holes of the # SMFP-1120 it would work just fine to use them. Nearly all RV steps like this attach with the side holes and not the holes on top.
If the install brackets on your trailer are right at 21 inches apart this step would fit perfectly as that is the outside overall diameter of the steps. view full answer...

The closest we have to a 22" mounting bracket spacing is the Flexco Manual Pull-Out Step # SMFP-1120 which has mounting bracket that are 21-1/16" wide. If this doesn't fit (which it sounds like it won't) then I recommend going with the Flexco Manual Pull-Out Step # SMFP-1200 and using the Outriggers # LC301704 to replace your current mounting brackets. These will enable you to get the desired mounting bracket distance. view full answer...
The R-Pod 179 usually comes with a single-step pull-out stair unit like either 24-inch-wide Flexco # SMFP-1200 or the 20-inch # SMFP-1120. Both are single step assemblies but they differ in the amount of drop/rise.
You may have enough ground clearance to install a different step, one that either has 2-steps to reduce the height of each step up, or one that has a better step height. You just want to ensure you do not reduce the trailer's ground clearance by installing a step assembly that... view full answer...
The Flexco Manual Pull-Out Step for RVs like # SMFP-1120 and most other brands as well use outriggers like # LC301704 to mount when the mounting holes of the original steps are not a perfect match. The outriggers are able to be mounted wherever needed to support the steps. They use hardware like # LC118155-72 for mounting to the outriggers. view full answer...
